Dave at D&D knows what he's doing. I searched the internet about a shifting problem on my Camry 6 speed A/T. I walked into D&D today for the first time and asked him if he could program the origianal factory default values for the transmission (the fix I saw on a you tube video). He knew exactly what I was asking for, got his high end scan tool and had it done, including a test drive, in 15 minutes. My shift problem is now fixed and the transmission also seems to shift better between all six speeds. The mechanic who posted my answer on you tube, received many thank you comments, mostly from other mechanics, who wasn't aware of this option. I had a very very positive experience with D&D. I was driving through CT when my engine began making a rattling sound. Soon the rattling turned to a terrible crunching. I was lucky enough to get off the freeway and happen upon D&D. The staff was extremely courteous, professional, and friendly. In under an hour they had fixed the detached heat shield in my car, test-driven it to ensure that the problem had indeed been fixed, and had me on my way charging only $20. Found this place through Yelp. It was quite a distance from my house in Southington but worth the trip. The owner was a down to earth nice guy that did as much as he could for my car but unfortunately the transmission had died and it would have cost too much to fix the 12 year old car. My Mitsubishi went into a limp mode. Took it to the dealer in New Britain where I've been a customer for 5 years and they said my airbag needed replacing and quoted me around 2k for repairs and suggested to get a new car instead. I decided not to do the suggested repairs since I was suspicious how the airbag would make my car go into the limp mode. I drove away with broken car to look for a second opinion. I went to DD transmission which was close to where I live, and I was glad I did. The main mechanic showed me exactly what went wrong with my car and fixed it - nothing to do with the airbag! He also pointed out a few things to look out for in the future to have my car last a long time! Within a day I was able to drive away, and I feel confident in my car again! One of my power steering hoses dumped all my fluid on the highway on a road trip. Called them up and they sent a truck which took about 3 hours which is on the long side, but the towing company is a different company. They did include the tow with the repairs for free. They tried to replace the hose but it was frozen in place so they put in a new steel line with the remainder of the hose. They let us pick it up Sunday night even though they were closed which was really nice. The power steering pump did give out after 10 miles but the hose repair was solid. The pump dying is not their fault it was just done after running with no fluid. It worked great for those 10 miles. The mechanic at home working on the pump had nothing bad to say about the hose repair and didn't find any leaks so I am happy. read more

We were driving from Boston to my daughter's summer camp in Pennsylvania when the car suddenly overheated and one of the hoses cracked, losing antifreeze. We were so fortunate to find Dave at D&D Auto Repair. It was near closing time but we slowly drove the car a few miles off the highway, turning the car off and on while we slowly made our way to his shop. He diagnosed the problem and checked out a few other things regarding the ongoing issue of the car running hot and we were on our way. His charge was reasonable for the time he spent and we felt confident that we would make to Pennsylvania and then home to New Jersey. Not from the area and vehicle would not shift out of 1st gear. Towed it to DD, Dave diagnosed it as completed transmission rebuild and $3k charge. Picked up vehicle after rebuild and broke down 10 miles from shop, won't shift out of 1st gear again. Towed back, Dave evaluates and declares its a new problem not the transmission. Remove vehicle from DD and brought to another repair shop. Vehicle fixed for $150. DD Transmission, Dave, misdiagnosed and won't own up to his mistake. He maintains that we have to pay for his incompetence, its just wrong! Stay far away. read more

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Dont walk RUN! I wish i could give no stars Dave is a complete rip off. Dave swindled me in when i had problems with my first car saying dont worry about paying we can do a payment arrangement. ok thats great as i was a teen low on cash. after he "fixed" my car months later it broke down. I got tired of bringing it to daves shop giving him all of my money so i got a new car thinking i wasnt going to have to deal with mechanical issues anymore. Of course, not but with this car i wasnt as stressed because i had an extended warranty . So i kept bringing my car back time after time untill i finally realized the problem wasnt my cars it was him! he just wanted me to keep me coming back spending my money. i would drive down the street and the check engine light would come back on. Dave lied and said my warranty company would not pay for my car to get fixed which was a complete lie because they paid another mechanic with no problem. he just didnt want to deal with them because he didnt know how to do the work.
