I came in here to get a sandwich a few weeks back. The place is disgusting it looks like they threw a coat of paint on the wall and threw the signs above the cahsier and then opened the place. However i know better then to judge a book by its cover ao i let that pass. But then as im deciding what to eat, what i assume is the owners daughter came out. Maybe 15 years old. She then started making the sandwich. Her hair was down on her shoulders and she put no gloves on let alone washed her hands. After seeing that i walked out. DA Subs is the best sub or sandwich shop in central jersey. I use to think Sorrento's in Freehold was but DA keeps piling on the meats. I especially love their Italian, Roast Beef/Turkey/Bacon, Tina, and chicken parm subs. Order to go during Covid 19 and ask for paper plates. Their prices are lowest around and at least $2 less than Jersey Mikes with twice the meat. read more

A standard sub place. Inside looked a little dirty, but hey, we were hungry and and decided to give it a try. We split a full sized Italian sandwich and it was large and very filling, I couldn't even finish my half! The sandwich had a good amount of meat in it, but I personally did not like their bread (too fluffy). I would prefer to get a sandwich from DeMarco's across the street or at Jersey Mike's, but will definitely stop by if I am looking for a quick sandwich at night. read more

I was in the area the other day and was in the mood for a sub. First impression this place looks very unorganized. It was very busy when i got there and its kind of tight when ordering your sub. They had boxes taking up some of the room. I ordered half of an Italian sub and a drink. I think it was around $7.50ish. I ate my sub there. The sub was very good. The bread was fresh and soft. Most important the meat to bread portion was good. I hate when you go to a sub place and you feel there is no meat. If this place was more organized and cleaner it would be an easy 5 star. read more

I could eat here once a week for the rest of my life. Subs here are huge and cheaper than most chains for twice as much food. Meat is sliced fresh for your sub, bread is always soft and fresh. Yeah, their toppings are incredibly basic, and the inside hasn't changed in 20 years but if you want atmosphere and arugula on your sub this isn't the place for you. If they made my sandwich with the gloves they wore cleaning the toilet, cursing at me as they slice my cheese, I would still go here because they make a damn good sub, end of story. read more

We have been here for almost 20 years whenever we are in the mood for a good sub. The prices are reasonable and the cold cuts are fresh. Be careful that only take cash. The bread especially is delicious and always fresh and soft, but too doughy. There are a few tables to sit but dont go for the atmosphere. There is a tv to watch and there are newspapers on the tables. I recommend this place. read more

This place is under-average at best. I ordered a Buffalo Chicken sub that was a new addition to the menu. The first thing I missed out on was cheese. Apparently you have to request cheese and I did not know this. When I asked if they had blue cheese, the woman looked at me like I just stole her meth pipe. At the previous two venues that I've ordered a buffalo chicken sub it was a hot sub, but I guess it was my fault for not asking. The actual sub was very dry and bland and all I tasted was the buffalo chicken lunch meat. There were 6 open tables but 5 of them were dirty and so we only had one option. The size of the subs aren't the issue. It's the quality of the ingredients. There is absolutely nothing that would make me visit this place again. It reminds me of getting a pre made sandwich at quick check.... fine if you're in a pinch and just need fuel, but nothing you'd go out of your way to get. If I can I drive to Keyport to Mike's subs to get the best sub in the area. If I don't have that kind of time, getting a sub at Demarco's or Livoti's is a much better option than DA subs. It's not the food I am rating this sub shop for, it's the lack of the awareness of COVID and spreading it. I visited once this past summer (2020) and the girl making sandwiches had her mask below her chin while she was cutting meat and making sandwiches. No gloves either. I mentioned to her that her mask was down and she shot a look at me and said "it's hot ". I visit this shopping plaza for other shops up to 5 times weekly; and each time the same girl is inside making food with her mask below her chin. A little COVID with your sub, anyone? read more

Was in the area and decided to give this a try for a quick meal in a pinch, based on decent reviews here. It's a dingy, dirty little sub shop at the end of a strip mall. I ignored the aesthetics as I've had really great food at some of the most unassuming places. I ordered a turkey sub with a bunch of toppings. You could tell the lettuce was shredded MUCH earlier in the day, based on how wilted it looked. I got my sub, which was quite heavy, and headed home to eat. I know this was a turkey and cheese sub, which is not the most flavorful combo in the world, but this was the most flavorless sandwich I've ever eaten. The meat, the toppings, and the bread all had zero flavor. Even the added banana peppers were bland. I did my best to season the sub as I ate it, but there was no saving it. They get two stars based on the amount of meat on the sub, but that is all. It will fill you up in a pinch. I'll gladly drive out of my way next time to Wondersub to fill a sandwich craving. read more

Best subs I've ever had, hands down. I've been going here since high school, and have not found a better sub place anywhere in Jersey. My favorites are the chicken cheesesteak and the regular cheesesteak. They're huge and they're cheap. So it's not the cleanliest place in the world; sometimes you gotta bite your tongue. I've traveled all over Asia, and have eaten at holes in the wall much less clean than DA subs. Often times its the places you least expect that have the best local fare. read more

I absolutely loved their tuna melt "subs" until today when it took a half an hour to complete my order and they gave me white sliced bread instead of the sub roll I asked for. Sub roll...sub... I don't think the two can get easily confused. I requested that only the bread be changed and they didn't need to reheat the bread in the oven and when I was getting my condiments, one of the sandwich prep girls gave me an attitude. I overlooked the long wait time, the unsanitary conditions, the questionable meat slicer that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time to come here just for this sandwich. Cracks me up about the hands, gloves, handling money issues. I would agree that restaurants should be.more cognizant of sanitary procedures, but what really has me scratching my head is that these very same customers, including myself, hand over money to the cashier, money that's been handled by who knows how many people previously. Then with the very same bare hand they reach and touch their change from the cashier. They then go to a table, without ever washing their hands, and touch their food. WTF is the difference? I've seen it a thousand times. Think about it. Even when the cashier is ideally performing cash register duties only, no food handling, the majority of customers contaminate their own food by not practicing what they preach. And please! The human immune system requires a lot more than money handling to make you sick! read more

This is the best sub place in Matawan and Marlboro area. I get the club with roast beef, turkey and bacon. They pile on the meat. I also get their Italian which is equally good. My son gets their Tuna sub which is solid white tuna and they pile it in. He also gets their chicken parm and meatball parm. All are terrific. You can't go wrong at DA Subs. read more

Good place to grab a sub. They have a good amount of options. They slice the deli meat for your sandwich right in front of you. I have eaten here multiple times and every time the food was great. My favorite sub shop in the area! It is what it is - a basic sub shop. One kind of bread, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, oil and vinegar to top your sub. That's it. But they are very generous with their meats - you will not be disappointed. Each sandwich is made to order with good quality ingredients. Breakfast is amazing too! I've only been in this little sub shop twice in my life, and don't recall anything horrible or great. I ordered a turkey sub and an Italaian sub another time. Both came with freshly sliced deli meat and crisp veggies along with a healthy dose of oil, vinegar, and spices. Prices were pretty good as well. Since moving to big cities, I have further refined my deli selectivity so going back I may feel differently. read more
