This is a new Vietnamese restaurant focusing on Vietnamese street food. "Com Nuoc" means "have you eaten yet?". The menu is minimalist. The focus is rice and noodles bowls. They opened on 2025-07-02.
The restaurant is not easy to find. There is a big parking lot on the south side of Queen St E, opposite Carroll St. Walk through the parking lot to an alleyway going east-west. Turn right (west), and you will see it!
The kitchen is inside a red shipping container! There is a very small outdoor sitting area in front of the container but a much bigger outdoor sitting area above the container (rooftop seating!). Luckily the entire area is well-shielded by the sun.
All meats are marinated for 24 hours and all sauces are made from scratch.
All rice bowls come with a small soup-of-the-day. Our soup was chicken broth with daikon and carrots. Delicious and healthy!
We ordered the following:
1. Grilled Pork Rice ($17.00).
2. Grilled Chicken Rice ($15.00).
3. Meatball Rice ($14.00).
4. Vegetarian Rice Vermicelli with Soybean Dipping Sauce ($16.00).
5. Chicken Salad ($12.00) with Chicken Rice ($4.00).
The Grilled Pork Rice Bowl had nice grilled prok, Jasmine white rice, pickled vegetables, caramelized fish sauce, fried egg, and a side soup. It also came with a Vietnamese egg meatloaf. It was delicious. It is made with ground pork base, glass noodle for texture, wood ear mushroom for extra crunch, and a blend of Vietnamese seasoning.
The Vegetarian Rice Vermicelli comes with vermicelli noodles, lemongrass tofu, oyster mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled vegetables, crushed peanuts, and a sweet fish sauce. The lemongrass tofu tastes a little like pork.
The Grilled Chicken Rice Bowl has char grilled chicken thigh, Jasmine white rice, cucumber, pickles vegetables, fried egg, and a side soup.
The Meatball Rice Bowl comes with 3 large meatballs, Jasmine white rice, tomato sauce, and a side soup. Interestingly, the meatballs are made with chicken! Very nice!
The Chicken Salad has free range chicken (tastier), onions, shallots, herbs, and cabbage, and it is chilled. We ordered it with the Chicken Rice which is a tasty rice cooked with chicken broth and a little ginger.
Most people order for takeout, but if the weather is not raining and not too hot, it is nice to have a meal sitting outside, the all the hustle and bustle of Queen St E.
The owner and the chef are very nice and courteous people!
The owner goes back to Vietnam once a year, and makes sure this food tastes exactly like in Vietnam.
There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but the seat area is not. There are no customer washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking.
