Grilled chicken and Beef over a bed of rice.
Jessica C.

My favorite local Vietnamese Restaurant. If you are feeling like having something comforting that hits the spot then this place is for you. When I am feeling under the weather and want something to cheer me up I always end up here. The soups are delicious, the rice and meat dishes never fail, and the appetizers are always crispy.

House Special Pho

The Food was Great, But the Service Needs Work!! We had just finished up swimming at a local community center and were looking for a quick and relatively healthy meal. I remembered from a past visit that there was a Vietnamese Thai place just a few minutes away. When we got there we found a somewhat empty restaurant with just a few tables occupied. The pencil and order pad was already on the table and we looked over the extensive menu and found a few things we could share. I asked the server if some of the meat selections in one of the Pho dishes was fully cooked, and she didn't know. I asked if the meatballs were precooked, again she didn't know. I asked if the "beef balls' in the House Special Pho were homemade, guess what??? She didn't know. So we went ahead and ordered the House Special and made sure I ate the rare prices. We also ordered a grilled chicken baguette or 'Bahn Mi Thit" and I also ordered a Pork Belly Bao, for myself. The soup was great and the biggest size was enough for all three of us the share ( 2 kids and 1 Adult) When the Baguette came out my 7-year-old daughter asked the server what was in the sauce on the Bhan Mi or if it was just the juice from grilling the chicken? Guess what?? She didn't know!!!!!. We decided not to ask our server any more questions and finished up and split. As someone who has worked in the service industry and dines out regularly, it is imperative that your staff knows what's in the food!! What if someone at our table had allergies? Knowledge of your own restaurant's offerings is key to its success!! How did I learn so much about Viet-Thai cuisine?? I asked questions and received answers and advice on things to try. When I was a server most of the places I worked wouldn't let you out on the floor if you didn't know the menu inside out. A server's job is not only to take your order, but it's their job to guide you through the menu and hopefully, you try something new for a change. It also helps to increase the check. I know many of the Vietnamese Places out there are the 'check the box and fill out the pad style' but the ones where the staff can help you, explain the dishes and offer you more choices are the ones that stick around. I'm willing to give this place another shot...why you might ask? It's because I've been there before and had a better experience, so I don't think all is lost. I think it's possible that maybe they were short-staffed and maybe the hostess or food-runner was pressed into service. If you're on the floor serving, you must know the food!!!

The size of the shrimp $12

This was probably one of the worst pho experiences I have had. Pho is probably one of my fav foods I eat it once a week, so when I saw this restaurant right next to my house i was super excited to try it! I ordered food for pick up and got rare beef soup , pad sew with shrimp , and vermicelli. Food was so cold the meat was gross and the vermicelli had no spring rolls or fresh veggies like you would usually get at other pho restaurants. My pad sew was $12 and it had a toro al of 4 small shrimps (see photos) I paid extra for that. Horrible food I will never order food from here again.

disgusting

two words. SALTY + Disgusting. I had seen this place advertise a lot when I'm scrolling through yelp to find a new hidden gem for my next dinner destination or lunch. I decided to order from this place on a whim and BOY was I left with a mouthy miserable experience. I place an order for two pork belly baos, a nem nuong banh mi and an order.of thai style chicken wings. The bao buns taste fine but the soggy overly sweet pork belly was not cutting it but I had some hopes for the banh mi to come through with flavor...cause how can you go wrong with a Vietnamese sandwich? BEEP! wrong. Horrible Horrible Horrible, the nem meat was so damn salty and sweet to the max on a soggy drench bun full of butter. I tried to eat the sandwich cause I don't want to waste food when there are sooooo many starving children out there. Tried the thai wings and that was hella mediocre. Learnt my lesson and never order from here again

Lemongrass + tofu bao

Delicious. I tried this place spontaneously and I feel like I've won the lottery. Had the lemongrass tofu bao and the tofu and kimchi roll as well as the avocado roll. Everything was to die for. The service was impeccable. Respectful and attentive staff. The woman at the cash noticed that I got all veggie options and let me know that they had a veggie phò. The restaurant was very clean, no garbage or dirty tables. Furthermore, the washrooms were spotless. I was so impressed, I got take-out for the family to try.

Well done beef pho
Bernadette D.

It's a no fuss restaurant with a seating area but no servers. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Food is served in disposable containers. I had the well done beef pho at it was tasty. I also had their pork belly bao which was good except the bao bun could be thinner and lighter. I also ordered the fresh rolls which i liked too but still prefer the bao. They had a promo of free bubble tea which is great but i prefer the ones that are not made with powder. I asked about their bahn mi buns but they said they dont make sandwiches with them anymore...i wonder why. Overall, the dishes were tasty and good for a quick, 'get it over with' meal.

Half of my pork belly sandwich. YUM!!!

Just had the pork belly sandwich which is one of the best I've had. The last time I came here, I was pleasantly surprised how good the pork belly bao was. Normally I'm not a big fan of baos but theirs was really good. I also had the chicken pho which is great. Tastes very natural with no msg. Will definitely come back regularly since I live close by and the prices are reasonable.

Rainbow veggie roll and grilled beef. Yum.

It's been super cold and chilly recently, so all I wanted was some warm soup noodles…read more I've heard of Chao Saigon for few months ago but never been. There was a sign by the door saying no msg, so we decided to check it out. We got the house pho, beef stew with rice noodles, crispy fish sauce wings and a side the steamed meatloaf. The meatloaf is not always available at Vietnamese restaurants, so it was a surprise for us. The house pho was nice and the broth was clear. They always gave lots of toppings for a small. The beef stew caught us off guard. The broth tasted like tom yum so we were confused! Super big bowl too! The crispy wings were my favourite. It was piping hot when it arrived and it lasted for at least 20 mins lol If I had to pick on one thing, it would be the meatloaf. It was already "steamed" beforehand, so the outer was a bit dry, but overall pretty good. Service was decent, the servers spoke vietnamese, english and canto. The restaurant was clean. Cash or debit only.

Beef Stew Rice Pho: The broth was rich, flavourful, and perfect for slurping with the pho noodles. However, the beef brisket itself was a bit disappointing tougher and more overcooked than I'd hoped. Grilled Pork & Spring Roll Vermicelli: A classic combo you'll find at many Vietnamese spots, but still satisfying. The spring roll had that perfect ASMR‑worthy crispy skin, and the grilled pork paired beautifully with the noodles and fish sauce. It hit all the right notes for me. Plain Pho: My kids love pho, so we added this to round out the meal. The broth surprised me, it had a different flavour profile compared to typical pho places, and in a good way. Simple but tasty. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. The flavours were solid, the space was pleasant, and everything tasted fresh. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the experience was still positive. --- If you want, I can also create a short, punchy social‑media version, or a more humorous take depending on where you plan to post it.

Beef pho rolls - wow, these were really delicious! Fried snail & pork patties - these were really super tasty! Highly recommend. The texture is a bit of a bouncy chew, but in a good way. Bun cha with pork and spring rolls - this was an enormous amount of food for one person. I ate heartily, and I still had half left. Luckily, I had spooned my portion onto a side plate, so I could easily pack up the leftovers for another lunch the next day. Everything on this dish was delicious!! And the spring roll was impressively ungreasy, but crackling crisp. I was worried that this place would be too busy, but they always seem to have room, and the kitchen hums on all cylinders. Definitely will be coming out regularly.

Imagine if Banh Mi and Pho had a beef dip baby. It was pretty delicious. The broth was super flavourful. It made me definitely want to come back to try the pho. The place only has 2 small tables so take out might be your only option. I was lucky that a couple were leaving just as my order was ready.
