OK, I should really give it less stars. But CVS is sort of like my mothership. Sometimes a femme needs her beauty products and needs them now. The location is annoying, because I have to cross so many streets around the Circle to get there. Also, they keep the whitening toothpaste locked in a closet, so I feel all sketchy getting someone to unlock it for me. The pharmacy can be a long wait (I always come back the next day, but even just to pick them up). The lines are long. But they have all the toiletries I need. Sigh. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I AM MORE THAN GLAD TO GIVE POOR RATINGS ON THIS CVS LOCATION! Came here like two hours ago to print pictures. Using the self-print kiosk on the second floor and no one around to help...ok understood it was late night and they were short staffed. Once we uploaded all the pictures that need to be printed, we got receipts that shows numbers of orders and total purchase @$0.20/ each. We tried to print 170 pictures that were placed in two different orders (92 + 78). The total of purchase as shown on the recipes was $18.40 for 92 pictures and $15.20 for 78 pictures. BY THE WAY ON THE SELF KIOSK AND CVS ONLINE IT CLEARLY STATES THAT PRINT ORDER OF MORE THAN 50 IS $0.20 and less than 50 is $0.35. The shocking part came when we want to checked out...the guy who called himself a manager charged us with $0.35 for each picture despite the receipt that we gets from the self-kiosk. That came to $59.5 in total which was outnumbered!!! When We showed him the receipts he looked confused...seems like he didn't know about the product. He even asked his colleague next to him about the price but seems like no one know about it either. We even showed him the promo price from the cvs website but he claimed that he couldn't find any barcode matched to it. So he make us waited for 20-30 min and came back with REALLY NOTHING!!! He insist that he could not do anything despite the receipt from the self kiosk. SERIOUSLY? When we asked him if we can asked the manager, he told us that he is the mAnager. REALLY CVS HAS A MANAGER WHO DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ITS OWN PRODUCT?? If he is really the manager, we assumed he--at least--can enter the whatever barcode manually ... The pharmacy is so poorly managed. No matter how many employees are working, there's a long line. There will be one person working the cash register with 3 others just milling around in the back. There are plenty of other CVS locations around here so just pick another one. read more

If I could give this pharmacy zero stars, I would. Do not be tempted by the 24 hour gimmick. This place took nine and a half hours from the time the doctor called my (urgent! Um, hello? Why else wouldn't I just get the script from my doctor and bring it in myself?) script in to the time they filled it. They use the fact that they're open 24 hours as an excuse to be lazy about how often they check the Rx voicemail and faxes, so good luck getting your Rx in anything resembling a reasonable amount of time. They wouldn't even check the voicemail when I stopped by at 6:30 pm to pick up a script my doctor had called in at 3:30 pm that same afternoon. Three hours isn't enough time to put 10 pills in a jar and slap a sticker on it? Really? And as if that weren't enough, they're also rude. When I picked up said prescription the next morning and described my frustration at their inability to get me the script the night before (easy for them to say no big deal, but I was d*mn uncomfortable overnight without the medicine), the pharmacist said I was--direct quote here--"Disrepecting this pharmacy." D*mn right I was. This place deserves little respect, and will never get any from me. Their motto seems to be that the customer is always wrong...and unfortunately since it's a pharmacy, the customer is also often sick, and should NOT have to put up with the rude, incompetent, inflexible, insensitive attitudes of the people you'll encounter if you have to deal with this place. read more

While I generally try and avoid chains, having a 24-hour CVS at Dupont Circle makes me unbelievably happy. Admittedly it's understaffed and it DID smell like mothballs for a while... but there not many other options if you need to grocery shop at 11pm. In addition to chips & salsa, Entemann's coffeecake and doughnuts, sodas, and ice-cream ...you can get milk, juice, Wonderbread Whole Wheat Bread, Peanut-butter, jelly or jam, soup, crackers, pop-tarts, cereal, and various mixes... not that I would EVER resort to that sort of unhealthy, over-processed packaged crap! ;-) It's also the easiest way to get some cash after dark (buy something and use the cash-back option) without getting mugged. read more

Had I written this six months ago, I would have started the post by saying this place is cramped and has long lines during peak hours. Now, I think the crowd control is better do to the new reorganization of aisles and addition of self-check-out lanes. There seems to be a lot of people holding the doors open and asking for money or loitering outside the entrance. But, sometimes I'll buy them food. Otherwise, they're harmless. It's a bit dirtier than the other two CVS stores within a few blocks, the product variety is not that helpful, and staff are just okay. But, I like that this is open 24 hours / day and that the pharmacy is always open. This aspect supersedes any negative aspect of the store. read more

I was out of stamps for my postage so I call them and ask if they sell stamps. They do and I went over and went to the cash register and ask for it. They call the manager to open it safe and got it for me. While waiting I i checking it out and noticed they have self check. It look like a nice friendly place. I will come back again soon. They have variety of snacks and beverages. I also saw a cooler many type of yogurt as well. read more

Wow, whats with all the bad reviews? Thankfully I only needed to purchase water here so my experience was limited to being in here for 5 minutes. We needed a few things that they did not have--thats why this place loses a star. But otherwise, service was fast and the store looked fully stocked. They even offered laundry detergent on sale for $1.99!!! Seriously? Thats unheard of. I might have to come back for another visit just to pick up that sale item. read more

Pharmacist Adenike Popoola is easily the most unfriendly pharmacist I've ever encountered. Attitude when I dropped off my prescription, more when she needed additional info from me and more when she was having trouble entering my insurance card. Like it was my fault. Luckily, the rest of the non pharmacy staff was the opposite and took pity on me when I asked to use the restroom because I had been there 40 mins longer than expected. read more

Not my CVS of choice. The store itself is smallish and unimpressive. They have the same sales as all the other CVS stores, but the one by the Woodley Park Metro has better selection. This one for reasons unbeknownst to me seems to have a perpetual string of homeless people that congregate immediately outside of it. I'd rather head to the Metro and pick up a copy of Street Sense and shop somewhere else. No reason to come here rather than the other gazillion drug stores in the city. read more

Came to the minute clinic here. DO NOT COME HERE!! I had a 10:40 appointment and the woman invites me into the room at exactly 10:40. I notice that she picks up what looks like a previous patient's bag and coat and places it from the exam chair to a different chair. She doesn't disinfect the chair and asks me to sit down. Shes really pushy with asking questions and asked over five at once stating I have to speak and answer quickly because she doesn't want to fall behind with patients. She then asked for my insurance and while I was pulling it up my phone was simply loading for max one minute and she asks me to get up and leave the examination room. She invites the next patient in before I've had time to even grab my things. Funny enough it was the patient she has just kicked out and whose bag and coat was still in the room. I ask her why she's telling me to leave the room if this is my appointment time and she says because she has patients to get to to not fall behind. I tell her I have somewhere to be at 11:20 and that I made this appointment at this time for a reason and she says "not my problem". I'm pretty sick currently and this was a little too much for me. No problem finding this CVS on one corner of the criss crossing network of streets and avenues of the DuPont Circle. We needed some distilled water and a greeter at the door pointed to the area where we could find it. The greeter also has the task of making sure that customers wishing to use the self service counters could do so in an orderly manner. This CVS is like so many other CVS stores we have been to. What makes this one unique is the expeditious service we received. Carrying an arm full of Washington DC souvenirs and bags of chocolate snacks got the attention of the cashier and we were quickly on our way. I would say we received prompt and attentive service at this CVS location. If we were to stay in Washington DC again and near the DuPont Circle, we would definitely return and shop at this CVS. read more

You know, maybe the 2 stars is a bit harsh. It's really my fault for shopping anywhere in Dupont Circle, where you are EXPECTED to fork over your first born for a jar of peanut butter and a Snapple. But they'll settle for a $10K promissory note. Obviously, I exaggerate (but not by much). This location is fairly nice, with a decent selection of items, and friendly people who eerily stand over my shoulder while I self-checkout my items. But I just canNOT get over the prices, simply because it's located in Dupont Circle. If you're having a serious pharmaceutical, toiletry, or snack food emergency, I guess I'd recommend this CVS. I dropped off two prescriptions. The pharmacist asked me when I'd like to pick them up. I asked how soon they could be ready. She said they could be ready in thirty minutes. I told her I'd pick them up in thirty minutes. Thirty minutes later, one prescription was ready and the other was nowhere to be found. Eventually one of the other workers told me I'd have to wait three days for it. I don't exactly mind waiting the three days, but I do mind being given false information that caused me to make an extra trip when I could have been outside enjoying a beautiful day. Lame. read more

This store is much better than the other store on P Street. It's open 24/7. Staff here are in general much more friendly any time a day. I recently bought some essentials in the middle of the night (I couldn't sleep) and I was chatting to the clerk for a while. I've visited this CVS many times over the years, and it comes in handy when you are sick and need something to make you feel better, or you've got the munchies and don't want to pay for the over priced snacks in the hotel lobby. It's in DuPont Circle, so you will have some local color hanging around panhandling, but their harmless. If someone is giving this CVS a bad review, they most likely never lived in DC. read more

A twenty four hour pharmacy in DC in a well traveled location. It's not exactly in my neighborhood but isn't far and it's pretty well stocked with other things you might need. My doctor called in some things here that were not available at my usual CVS. I am happy to have any store that is well stocked and not too far away from me that is open 24 hours! read more

I went to many CVS stores throughout the country with my mom who is a hardcore ExtraCare member, so I'm usually indifferent about this pharmacy store chain. However, this particular one in Washington DC won my heart and ultimately changed my prospective about CVS in general. Sure, the stuff this CVS store sells here is no different from any other CVS stores, but one thing this store differentiates is its store manager Earl (I assume he is the manager from his attire). The moment we walked in, we were greeted by Earl and he offered to help everytime we walked by him. What made me like this man though was when we were having trouble with the self-checkout machine, and Earl with his infinite patience stayed with us for possibly fifteen minutes and helped us until we got everything cleared through. Really great guy there! The location is also next to the Dupont Circle and its subway station too, so that's another plus. Best CVS I have ever been! read more

DON'T USE THIS MINUTE CLINIC. I was very sick for 7 days and the nurse practitioner said there was nothing she could do for me. I went to a real doctor and was told that I 100% should have been prescribed antibiotics. It's frustrating that because these practitioners don't have relationships with patients, they are cautious to the point of dangerous. read more

I am weighing in on the negative side of the reviews. I've been stuck with this pharmacy due to my life's schedule and the fact that it has 24-hour access. *Every time* I try to pick up a prescription there is a problem!!! seriously, *every* time. Either they insist my meds need further approval, or (even though they said it was ready for pick up when I called) it won't be available for days, or despite doctor's orders to the contrary, they give me generic brand. And there is ALWAYS a line at the pharmacy (more so for pick-up). The worst part being there is nowhere for the line to go. You end up standing down one of the aisles. As to the rest of the store. It's ok(that's why 2 instead of 1 star). They've got a nice variety of stuff. Hit or miss with staff being helpful or cashiers being friendly. Line at the checkout unless it's the middle of the business day. Sure do wish a different CVS pharmacy would go 24 hours. Perhaps I'll switch to Walgreens in Chinatown -- I think they might have 24 hour Rx. Good luck at this place. read more

I have had difficult experiences at this CVS pharmacy in the past (mainly due to very long lines, short staffing at the pharmacy, and out-of-stock medications), but I have been very impressed with the team/customer service during Covid19. The pharmacist and other pharmacy personnel have been VERY vigilant with respect to safety measures, and the pharmacy seems to be operating much more efficiently than it has in the past. read more

The best CVS in town in my opinion. The people writing bad reviews for this CVS clearly haven't been to the horrific branches in Columbia Heights, the Navy Yard, or on U St. The employees are AGGRESSIVELY friendly and despite the busy foot traffic I always find that things are neat and in stock. Good selection of everything: otc painkillers, tampons, hair clips- it's all good. I come here almost every day to pick something or other up and I've never had a bad experience. The manager currently on duty was very rude to me just now. Yes it was very busy, but the young woman was having trouble ringing up an item due to the item being labeled wrong, price-wise, in the aisle. The manager told her to give me a specific discount, which was nice of him. But since it was taking awhile for her to complete the transaction he says to me "I should charge you an extra $2 for holding up my line." Why don't you train your employees better so they know how to do an override in 15 seconds instead of 5 minutes. I'll be shopping at Rite Aid from now on, thank you very much. read more

By far the WORST CVS I've ever tried to get prescriptions from. Overall I've had horrible service from CVS pharmacies in the DMV area because of one particular prescription (though they have attempted to fill it since 2007) -- but this CVS pharmacy takes the cake. This branch filled the same prescription for me for 2 years, I ALWAYS had to call in advance to talk to a pharmacist, they STILL got the prescript wrong, and I still had to wait. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED by this CVS location. Honestly, I can't believe how poor their customer service is. If it was a one-time thing, I would understand, but they consistently give subpar service. My usual location is on Vermont Ave. (GO THERE. IT'S SO MUCH BETTER) but I was told I had to go to this location for something specific. I went to Vermont to pick up a prescription that I had dropped off a month prior at the dupont location. Apparently my prescription was not entered into the system. I tried calling the dupont location and was put on hold for 25 MINUTES after trying to explain the situation. I decided to call back again in case the person had forgotten about me and when another person picked up. I explained the situation again and that I had been waiting for 25 minutes, and he interrupted me and said, "Wait, I have another customer. I can't talk to you." WTF? I AM YOUR CUSTOMER TOO. He put me on hold and I couldn't bare it any longer. I don't even write reviews but I'm livid. I'm also irritated because last time I waited for a prescription, they told me it would only be 5 minutes and I ended up waiting for 45 minutes!!! WTF. They had had 8+ personnel. I literally saw the bag on the counter but they wouldn't hand it to me. I really couldn't believe how disorganized they were. The first time I went, there was also a communication problem between CVS, my doctor, and me. It eventually worked itself but at first the pharmacist made it seem like it was my fault, when it clearly was not. I didn't think much of it at the time though because I was happy it worked out. But all 3 of these events together (the only 3 times I've encountered this CVS) was incredibly irritating and is more a reflection of their poor management and organization. read more

This is literally the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. There were 2 people on line in front of me and I waited 36 minutes to DROP OFF a prescription, only to be told that the pharmacist wouldn't fill that particular one because he "wasn't comfortable" doing so. I asked for further explanation to no avail. Also the pharmacist himself was standing right there but he made his minions talk to me like an awkward game of telephone. Most horrifying service today from the guy (cashier # 0947814 who appeared like he could be ethiopian or arabic) working front register at 2:41pm. He even had the audacity to tear off the customer satisfaction survey portion of my receipt (!!!!!), probably because someone called begging to get rid of this customer-hating menace before. He pretends he cannot see me at the register for some time. When I finally get his attention and ask for some passport photos to be done, he looks pissed off and goes "HUH?!!" I can already tell the interaction is going to be a treat. Then he motions to a lady three counters down from him and says that she'll help me.... Erm, how will she know I need help? Oh yeah, then he says he'll tell her after I have to ask him if he's sending me to wait in another line. Wow, and for a second I thought he was going to transmit the message to his coworker telepathically, what a disappointment. After the photo is done, he keys in a $30 charge when it should have been around $10, then huffs and puffs and takes his time to figure out what he screwed up. Not a hint of apology. This review is based one single employee's behavior and unprofessionalism. Her name is "Desiree". She was extremely rude, showed little to no care about her job or customer service. Her lack of personal hygiene tells alot about this employee. I wish she could be terminated otherwise we wilk never ever come back to this location. What a mess. What kind of pharmacy is this? They don't even have a phone number. Employees are so lazy, and look like they pop Xanax all day everyday. I do not recommend this pharmacy. I filled my prescription here in a pinch, as I normally would never use CVS (I work in healthcare and they are infuriating in the DC area). I picked up the prescription and checked the name and dose to be sure it was correct and scurried out. When I got home I realized they gave me completely the wrong quantity. When I called, they blamed my doctor, saying they wrote it wrong. Except, I work for that practice and could see what was sent. It was right and they filled it wrong. As someone who grew up in a family of medical professionals, it pains me to provide anything but positive feedback; however, I had a very irritating experience at this Minute Clinic location and was left essentially untreated. The practitioner either couldn't understand me or didn't listen to me when I explained the medications I have been taking, and she prescribed them to me again at the end of my visit. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to counter some of the negative reviews of this CVS. I work near this CVS and go there very frequently, both to fill prescriptions and to shop. I have never had a bad experience. Contrary to what people have said, I actually find the staff very friendly and helpful, the self-checkout lanes convenient, and the overall atmosphere much nicer than the other CVS I frequent, in Columbia Heights.
