The young gentleman in glasses was outstanding -- polite, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything we needed to do. Even though we were unable to get the medication right away, he guided us step‑by‑step on how to have it covered through our insurance, and thanks to his help, everything was resolved the same day. Date/Location: August 20, 2025 - CVS, Washington, DC (around 9:20 AM) This was my first time visiting this CVS while in DC for an appointment. I stopped by for passport photos and had two very different customer service experiences. On the first floor, I was warmly greeted by a helpful associate who kindly directed me upstairs for photos. She was courteous, professional, and set a positive tone for my visit. On the second floor, however, my experience was the complete opposite. The associate there was unwelcoming, didn't acknowledge a simple greeting, and was dismissive throughout the interaction. When I attempted to pay with a $100 bill, she curtly told me, "It's too early, I don't have change--everyone uses a card. Don't you have one?" I asked if she could get change downstairs, and she replied, "You can, but I can't." The entire exchange felt unnecessarily unpleasant. I eventually paid with a card, thanked her (which went unacknowledged), and went back downstairs. I approached the first associate and asked if she could break the bill. Without hesitation, she said "of course!" and returned with change right away. That stark difference left me thinking--one employee had just reminded me why I should avoid CVS in the future, while the other restored my faith in good customer service. This was convenient for me. I had just attended a work even nearby and needed to get myself some items that I had run out. It would figure, I just move and the next day I am on a work trip assignment. Granted, I was only a few miles from home, but I couldn't run home as I was staying in a nearby hotel for this work assignment. I came in here to grab a few items I definitely needed, and try to make it quick. Luckily for me, what I needed they actually had it in stock and I wasn't without for an extended period of time. However, after looking around the rest of the store you can tell it is hit or miss with items. Some were sparse or missing altogether. It's kind of like 'press your luck' when coming in here. I grabbed a few other things to hold me over while being away from home (even if I was still close). I made my way up front, utilized the self-checkout, got my mile long receipt and I was out the door soon thereafter. My stop was near the end of the night so it wasn't as busy as I suspect this place can be. That could also be why the item selection was sparse througout. read more

CVS Dupont Circle is the WORST pharmacy location in a chain of pharmacies that are all bad. They must send all their bad employees to this location because I have not found 1 employee who provides any degree of customer service. Add all this to the feeling that I am taking my life in my own hands to visit there personally. The pharmacists in this store literally do not care whether a customer lives or dies. I tried for 2 weeks, with repeated calls and online requests, to transfer my prescriptions to another pharmacy. The store would not fax my prescriptions to the new pharmacy as needed, while I suffered from severe anti-depressant withdrawal. Came here to get a non-covid vaccination as the place I usually go to is inexplicably out of this vaccine. Haven't been here for a while and always thought of the place as small and messy, being in a busy area right on DuPont Circle. However I was very pleasantly surprised. When I walked in the door there was a greeter who directed me where to go. The pharmacy is on the second floor via an escalator. The entire second floor is quite spacious and even has a minute clinic. I had made an appointment online so there was no wait whatsoever. Better still they also have a small private room to administer the vaccine, unlike many other pharmacies where there's only a partial partition at best. I'll definitely use this pharmacy again for vaccinations next time. (For the time being however they are out of the latest covid vaccine and won't restock for another week or two). read more

Hello, I want to tell my story because I hope it will help CVS change its polices and procedures so that in the future other people will avoid the problems I faced. Briefly, after consulting with my doctor about my travel plans and lifestyle, she and I decided on a course of Bexsero, a meningitis B vaccine. Because of the proliferation of vaccines available at pharmacies like CVS, her practice no longer carries Bexsero and she told me to go to a CVS or Walgreens. She even sent a prescription to my regular CVS pharmacy at 2000 Pennsylvania Ave in Washington, DC. My pharmacy transferred the prescription to the CVS at 6 Dupont Circle because they didn't stock the vaccine, but I was told by that pharmacy that because of my age they could not administer the prescribed vaccine. I was told I needed to go to a CVS Minute Clinic. I made an appointment at the Clinic at 6 Dupont Circle, took time off from work, but was told by the clinician that he didn't care that I had a prescription. He would not administer the prescribed vaccine, although he admitted it was in stock and he had the authority to administer it if he chose. He said I was too old. I pointed out that many people are eligible for the vaccine who are older than the typical age range (and I had a prescription), and he said those people should go see a doctor (which I had already done). I went back to my doctor and she suggested I ask whether CVS would dispense the vaccine to me, so I could take it from the pharmacy to her, and she could administer it. This was amenable to the CVS pharmacist I spoke with. However, to obtain the vaccine in this manner meant it was no longer covered by my insurance. Thus, a vaccine that should have cost me nothing will end up costing me over $500, if I even get it. First, I have yet to actually receive the vaccine from CVS so I don't even know if this suggestion by my doctor will work. Regardless, I will transfer my prescriptions to a nearby nonprofit pharmacy and never, ever, use CVS for any healthcare needs going forward. Multiple CVS pharmacists told me to go to the Minute Clinic, yet the Minute Clinic practitioner at 6 Dupont Circle Washington DC told me to go away. This treatment is not acceptable, and CVS should clarify the circumstances under which it will and will not administer vaccines to its staff so they can correctly inform patients. My experience was truly awful. CVS staff were dismissive, rude, unhelpful, and generally unpleasant. I cannot justify using your pharmacy again. Do better. read more

Just moved to DC from NC. Had no issues with my RXes at CVS in NC for years. Tried to get same Rx filled at this location and got inconsistent, unclear untimely communication and extremely poor customer service. I have been having extreme difficulty for over a week to get my important Rx I rely on filled and have been given 4 separate reasons for it not being filled (always through text) 1) first the pharmacists didn't like that I had an Rx for two doses. But the text message just said my Rx had unclear or missing info so I had to walk in person to ask personally what was needed. Turns out they want just one dose. So, my doctor eliminated the 1 mg and moved to just 0.5 mg. 2) then, I was texted they were out of supply 3) then I was texted it was too soon to be filled based on state regulations 4) then finally on the phone tonight I was told that the pharmacist needed to see my diagnosis code (which has NEVER happened to me in my entire 40 years of getting RXes filled, anywere) and that they didn't have enough stock to support the count of 120 eaches. The pharmacist talked over me and was condescending. This issue has dragged over a week and they do not care. I'm moving all my prescriptions away from CVS after over a decade with them. read more

This store needs help with training employees on customer service. Dropped some eggs in front of a CVS representative as I was bagging my order. I cleaned it up myself without any help. He never offered to help or showed no sign of empathy. Me: Can I get another one? CVS: You're the one that dropped it. Me: It was an accident. CVS: We can give you store credit. Me: I'm going to grab another one, if you have an issue with it then get a manager (As I was walking away) CVS: I am a manager. I got the eggs and left. I didn't believe he was a manager because he never offered to help clean up the eggs. He just stood there as I cleaned it during our conversation. This employee should have more training with customer service. If he was a manager, that store has bigger problems. read more

How can the score be two stars? This store is run inefficiently, ineffectively and without transparency. They have a dedicated vaccine salesman downstairs but to actually get your shot you simply stand around waiting to discover what might happen. Pharmacy staff no clue what is going on, most people seem to give up after 15 minute delays without understanding if they are close to being served. If I could give a 0 star rating, I definitely would have chosen that rating instead. I always go to this CVS because it's very convenient and close, plus it's a 24/7 store. Went in @6:20 am on 10/11/2023, looking to buy some beverages for myself. As I was searching, I was also looking at my CVS app for any deals. As I walked to another section where that had other beverages, a manager named Ali asked if I need help. I said "no I am okay." He then proceeded to tell me that I can't be roaming the store, making me feel uncomfortable and like I wasn't wanted in the store. I came here because I needed travel vaccines for an upcoming trip and the appointment was easy to make online. There was no wait on the day I came and it was nice to be able to see a health professional on the weekend. The nurse practitioner that handled my visit was really informative on which vaccines I needed and which ones I didn't so that I didn't pay for anything that wasn't necessary. Some of the vaccines are only available in a travel clinic so I will have to make a separate appointment to get the other vaccines. The medical room looked and felt just like a regular doctor's office so it didn't seem sketchy or low-end. They do a whole lot of other services for regular care and exams so if you need to pop in for some medical care, see what MinuteClinic has to offer. Again, I really appreciate being able to go on a weekend when most other offices are closed. And my insurance paid for the whole visit and the vaccines I got. read more

Inexcusable lack of professionalism. The pharmacy has not had my medication for more than one month. It was suggested I call around searching for it. The onus to have a prescription filled is on the patient? I called the so called Specialist whom had me on the phone for over a hour to no avail, suggested a VA pharmacy. I am not a Vet nor have access to said pharmacy. Uninformed. Also, there is nothing in this location to buy. I have asked for a refill of toilet paper for months to no avail. In an era where even visiting an OB-GYN feels like an act of subversion, it is highly disturbing to be refused a prescription for birth control by an ornery, sneering pharmacist. Unfortunately, that is what happened to me today. I went to the pharmacy in person tonight to refill my prescription, only to be greeted by a very gruff pharmacist who I believe was named Mina. He insisted that my prescription was not in the system. When I told him my doctor confirmed she sent it, he shrugged and told me it wasn't there. I asked if the pharmacy dept can call the clinic (as every single other CVS has done for me when this happened in the past) and he refused. He told me to have the doctor call him. I asked for a number, and he shrugged again, and said "the general one". I asked for him to give me a card or write it down to be sure, and he refused. I left. I walked to the 14th Street CVS location, where miraculously, the pharmacist not only had my refill in the system, but gave me my prescription in a matter of minutes. He said he had no idea why the staff at the Dupont location was unable to find this or why they refused to assist or give me further information. When something looks like a dog, walks like a dog, and barks like a dog, it's probably a dog. Given the current climate when it comes to women's health and basic freedoms, I would recommend avoiding this CVS at all costs, at least if Mina is on duty and you are trying to buy anything remotely related to "women's health". read more

I should have known better -- post-Halloween by less than week, there were shelves and shelves of cheap confectionary cavity creators aplenty! Not only were the shelves surprisingly easy to navigate (I know... WTF, right?) but staff knew where to point me to look for name tags, and there was no line for the checkout! «gasp» Does this CVS actually get it right?! I'm not entirely sold yet, but all signs look good! Plus, I got to walk back armed with Twizzlers, Snickers, Swedish Fish, and Sour Patch Kids -- more than enough to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth needs for the arduous work ahead! read more

We were staying at the Embassy Row Hotel so this CVS location was a much appreciated and convenient location as we needed a few things. We were greeted by a homeless person preaching, and a crazy non-homeless lady screaming at the preacher while trying to call herself an Uber. Lovely. 1 crazy + 1 crazy = yoohoo! I think they also increased their inventory of snacks, as on my last visit I spotted an entire bread and bagel section where they used to stock crackers and chips. Not that I wanted either, but just an observation. Their coolers are larger and improved as well, now with yogurt, cheese, and more frozen items. Upstairs, you will find the pharmacy and related items, as well as cards and a small office supply section. Close to the Metro stop, this CVS has some grocery items, some ready made food (such as sandwiches), a large snack section along with the usual things you'd expect to find at CVS. The pharmacy is also 24 hours as an added plus if you need to get a prescription filled in the middle of the night. Again you can get some interesting people in the middle of the of the night along with the usual urban panhandlers outside. read more

If you value your time and value reliability DO NOT come here. I have been using this pharmacy for about 6 months now and every time, there is a good 15-20 minute wait for pick up. The technicians and pharmacists here consistently fudge the waiting time so your "5 minute wait" will easily turn into a 30 minute wait (if you're lucky). But what pushed me over the edge to completely stop coming here was that they mixed up my prescription. When I asked the pharmacist why my medication had changed two months ago, they nonchalantly said that they were switching me over to a generic brand - but not to worry because they were the same exact medicine. Fast forward to today, I found out that I was getting the wrong medication the whole time and that the pharmacist that I talked to straight up lied to me to keep the line moving. Now I'm in a medical frenzy since I've been taking the wrong medicine this whole time all thanks to this pharmacy. So if you care about your health in any way, please do not come here because apparently the technicians and pharmacist here do not keep themselves accountable for their mistakes. read more

I was parched and in Dupont Circle so I stopped by the CVS. Better that than breaking the bank at a restaurant and I couldn't wait. This was only my second time in this CVS since I don't spend too much time in the area. I don't know if I took advantage last time but it has 2 floors of fun. A CVS that has two floors and never closes; but does it have Self-Checkout? "Aw Yea"!* Now I must say I was able to get in and out in a matter of mere minutes. I ended up at the register because all but one of the self-checkout registers were open but on Card only mode. I use cash to keep on budget. But I won't complain too much I didn't lose much time, the cashier was nice and everything ended fine. I ended up in Dupont Circle reading an Express that someone left behind in deep thought about how a building, built in 1914 to function as a store, still functions as such. I had called a couple of days ago and spoke with her on the phone to adjust the time of my appointment. I arrived, and she not only took me (And painlessly administered my 4th Covid and pneumonia shots) but was also able to readily take my partner, as well, who did not have an appointment. I don't get upset sitting in traffic. Some people absolutely lose their sh$t on on the 14th street bridge during rush hour and beep and yell and cause more accidents. But me? I'll just turn up the radio and shrug my shoulders. I am a very patient person. So the fact that when I come out of this CVS, ready to punch puppies out of Hulk-like rage, really says something about it. I have never been here where I haven't been bumped into 300 times when I stop to look at something. I wanna take this moment to thank CVS Pharmacy for me nearly dying last night in DC. So, I had an asthma attack, and I didn't have my inhaler with me. I managed to crawl into this CVS, the closest pharmacy to where I was at the time of the attack. I was visibly distraught, customers in the CVS kept asking me if I was okay. I couldn't breathe. I had to sit on my suitcase because the chairs were occupied. I was wheezing and clutching my chest and gasping for air. The pharmacy paid zero attention to me and told me to wait my turn. I told them I'm having an asthma attack and I have Kaiser and need a fast acting albuterol inhaler. They told me to wait in line. So. I waited 15 minutes. Then they told me I need to call my doctor to have a prescription made. So I did. And waited 45 minutes for the scrip to be sent to the CVS. All the while wheezing and feeling horrific. Then when it was finally time for me to get an inhaler from the pharmacist, she tried to charge me $66 because "We don't accept Kaiser." I demanded to know why she kept me for an hour if she knew I have insurance they don't take and I was having a medical emergency. She lied and said she did tell me they don't take Kaiser, which she did NOT. So, I refused to pay for the inhaler and she told me that's the price or to leave. So. I, an asthmatic who had a medical emergency in front of a licensed MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, LEFT THE STORE UNTREATED. read more

I was being chased by a pack of wild dogs and this was the only place that could provide some sort of refuge. b. I heard on the radio that Brangelina was spotted there picking up a prescription for Shiloh. In all seriousness, even though this is the closest CVS to my house, I have no problems walking a few more blocks to another place or a different CVS location (not because this particular CVS doesn't sell the products I need or because of the super long lines) it's simply because I hate having to deal with the rude and apathetic CVS employees who work behind the register.
