Overall the staff is helpful and friendly. However, the pharmacy is another question. I have epilepsy. I have ordered the same pills for 7 years and it is amazing how often I am told they are out of the medication. They are kind enough, if needed, to float me a couple days worth of pills. The pharmacy staff alway seems overwhelmed when I am there. There is nothing efficient about there process. This is the third time in a row that CVS has screwed up a prescription. One time they actually gave me two refills on a controlled substance! This time I went two days without a necessary med because they screwed up. When I mentioned my frustration (in a very quiet and polite voice), the man at the counter totally ignored me. I talked to the manager but she was unsympathetic. Customer service, folks. You need some training. I'm going to move my business to Walgreens. read more

It doesn't have terrible reviews for nothing. I'll never go back. I'll go ANYWHERE but HERE. My dentist submitted a prescription in at 11:00 AM. Need pain Meds ASAP. I went around 5PM... and was ask about my insurance... if it was through Costco... I said yes... he said they couldn't fill it... I told him I just had the same prescription last week??? So then he said it would be $17. Fine... then he say's it will be 30 to 40 minutes. What?! I told him it was submitted 5 hours ago! Ok... I come back TWO hours later and I'm told there is no prescription. What???!!! The incompetence is astounding... THEN another person over hears and says is that for Mr. BLANK... why yes it is... and she says that yeah, they couldn't fill it because it didn't have some diagnoses code. WTF? WTF! It was a prescript sent in from my dentist... I'm in pain and I've wasted 8 hours. Nobody bothered to call me? Call the Dentist? What the Flip is wrong with these people. We call it the soviet era pharmacy. Lines are long, most the time they don't have what you need, or the records/refills are not there. If you try to call in to see if your prescription is ready (cause it wouldn't be otherwise), you are on hold for an eternity. The staff is trying, it's just not working, for some reason. Horrible people and disgusting behavior of staff. I had a appointment for the first vaccination at this location. I drove from Concord and when I got there, they were very rude. They checked their list and my name was of course on the list. Then after waiting for 20 minutes The Pharmacy Manager comes around to tell me that they need additional documentation of pay Stubbs, and other proof. None of these requirements were listed as a requirement on their website. The only requirement was a current Drivers License and a Health Insurance Card which I provided. Now they wanted my pay stubs or other documents in addition. At this point it was obvious they were making up rules as they went along. To add insult to injury they called the police and three Cop Cars came as if someone was committing a crime! Disgusting shameful behavior! I witnessed another customer who was being treated in the same manner. The only common thing between the two of us is that we both were not white! Obviously the staff needs to be trained or let go. It was Monday afternoon and had been in Lafayette taking care of some financial business. Had lunch down the street at a Thai restaurant that didn't settle well with me. All of a sudden I needed to use a restroom. I went in and asked the clerk up front if they had a public restroom. He responded "Yes, but they're both out of order." Don't insult my intelligence! Why can't people just be honest that he didn't want me using them? I would have gladly purchased something! If he was worried about "germs," I would have gladly cleaned up and disinfected the restroom afterward! I'm sure he'll find this "humorous," but I hope and pray to the dear Lord in heaven that he is never in a situation like that...then get denied, he'll think again about responding that way he did! Absolutely don't use their photo department, it's horrendous. Four separate times I took my film in for 1 hour service and each time I came back it was either not ready or downstairs in processing and no one bothered to bring it up. The final straw was sending digital online requests for prints the next day to be ready at 10:30am. I went at 12:30pm and staff couldn't find it up front, so they sent someone downstairs only to come back up look in the original upstairs spot and found the prints - but wait there is more - the prints cut off members of the family in the 8 x 10 family photo. Whoever runs photo processing should look for a different job because it was easy to see people chopped in half. Poor management allows their employees to be so disinterested. It's the only drug store in Lafayette (not including Safeway), staff can be friendly or unfriendly depending upon the day and time but they never seem very knowledgable. My cousin works at a similar store and it's a day and night difference. People only go to CVS because it's the only one in town - talk about a great place for competition. read more

The store itself is fine but the traffic and parking is a nightmare during prime hours. Best to go late at night or very early in the morning. I live about the same distance from Moraga CVS so I always opt to go there where parking and traffic is never an issue. read more

Got the best service possible from Sarah and the rest of the crew at the the CVS Pharmacy. While chitty chatting with Sarah I mentioned I have a cat who goes outside. CVS is the only game in town here in Lafayette, CA. My wife claims the folks working there are rude and not very helpful. I know she has also struggled w/ the pharmacy data system showing her primary healthcare provider as being listed as secondary and no entry for her primary....bizarre! The overall layout of the store is uninspiring and they are very limited in available stock. This chain replaced the locally owned Longs, which was much better service-wise and availability of products. read more

There are two dark haired gentlemen who work here that always go above and beyond with customer service. I don't know their names but when I found out I will write again. Thank you for always being so kind to my family when we come in. In the past they even accepted expired coupons unlike the Walnut Creek location. Paid out of pocket cost for prescription because employees said my insurance didn't cover the med. Find out that they called the wrong insurance company but they would not reimburse because I had to submit my complaint within a two week period. I used to buy things there along with getting prescriptions filled but won't even walk in the door. read more

We have used this store for years, and I think the pharmacy staff is excellent, Clerks are efficient, greet most regular customers by name and go out of their way to get our prescriptions filled accurately and on time. The only problem I ever had was when we had to leave town suddenly and my husband was almost out of one of his medications. It is an unusual med and was not in stock that day, but they problem-solved and arranged for us to pick up the med that night at a CVS in another city along our way...I think that's great service! Everyone in the rest of the stories is helpful and courteous. Clerks are always opening up extra registers as soon as there is a line waiting. (Just try waiting for that to happen at Safeway!) Given that it is a smaller CVS, the inventory may be smaller, so that's the only reason I give it less than 5 stars. read more

I have has so many frustrations with this store lately I'm going to switch pharmacies. I have a standard thyroid prescription that is totally available and easy to refill but I have called in every day for a week and they are unable to refill it. I went in on my lunch break Monday night and stood in line for 40 minutes to talk to the pharmacist and never got service and had to go back to work with no answers. I then made three attempts today to call and speak to an actual person in the pharmacy and was unable to after being put on hold for over 35 minutes. This is totally unacceptable and the worst customer service possible. I'm out of medication and now have to switch my prescriptions to Walgreens! I hate this store! read more

There is a very good and justifiable reason this CVS has such horrific reviews. Anyone at the top care to take a look at this? The pharmacy staff is beyond rude. I shopped at this location many years ago when it was Long's. Gone are the days of the neighborhood pharmacy. Hey, you don't have an ownership interest in the place, why should you care? I would NEVER hire staff like this because I put my name on what I do personally and professionally whether it directly benefits me or not . Apparently management/upper management at this location do not feel the same . After today's horrendous experience I plan to support as many privately owned businesses as I can. The store is clean and most of the staff is very friendly, except the lady who I think is the assistant manager or something, she comes across a snob, never smiles and always makes you feel that she is doing you a favor. They have good deals on lawn and garden items most of the time. Parking can be a big problem. read more

Beware--this pharmacy has changed my Rx twice, w/out my physician's approval. My physician called-in to correct the pharmacy's mistake, but we could not do anything about it. Because the pharmacy had already filled the Rx in error, we had to wait 3 more weeks until we could get the correct Rx. Imagine that: making the customer pay, for the pharmacy's error. And, this did not happen once. It happened twice. Is this legal? Not that I know of. In fact, CVS Caremark Corp was recently sued for "deceptive biz practices" (told customers and physicians that Brand name Rx would be less expensive. Not so; it was more expensive for the patient. But, the pharmacy stood to profit greatly, because the Rx's expired in 6 months instead of 1 yr, so patients had to refill more often, and physicians had to call in more often.) I have no idea if this CVS #9938, in Lafayette is engaging in such a practice, but it is very unusual for this to happen 2x in less than 1 yr. I was in the store today and watched an employee clean opened bottles of a product (the lids were off) and place them back on the shelf! I spoke with the store manager who said she would speak to the employee. That is definitely necessary but for myself from no on I will not buy anything at that store that is going into or on my body that does not come sealed. read more

I don't know why I keep going back to this pharmacy other than it is near my home. They mess up every prescription and are rude on top of it. I see by reading the reviews that my feelings about the pharmacy are not alone! What a shame; they really need to get their act together. CVS-Lafayette gave me the wrong medicine in an automatic refill prescription. When I returned to the pharmacy the next day with the prescription they gave me, the pharmacist insisted that they had given me the correct medicine because "it said so in the computer"----and she wasn't going to give me the correct prescription---a hormone replacement that is crucial for my daughter. The pharmacist couldn't get past the (incorrect) record they had in their computer system. I didn't have the medicine that my daughter needed, and I was either going to get it from them or I was going to have to contact my doctor and figure out how to get it. The pharmacist finally did a "vacation override", after fifteen minutes of heated conversation. She was nasty and couldn't acknowledge that someone there had made a mistake. She then made me take the incorrect prescription home---She wouldn't dispose of it there. VERY RUDE! I have put up with the rude staff, long lines, and disorganization for years....and now receiving the wrong medicine and being treated horribly afterward. What?!?! I transferred everything to Walgreens today. Just across the street. Lots of parking. Much more professional. If I could put negative stars here, I would. read more

Nice Pharmacy. Usually a little busy. I give them 3 stars because there's nothing overly special about the service. But they always get things done quickly and when they say. And the staff is able to answer any questions you might have. Getting in and out of the parking lot at peak times is a bit of a pain, but not crazy. Convenient location. read more

The red-haired check out clerk usually does a good job- until today. Went in to purchase two bags of candies on sale. She mis-scanned the price, had me walk her to the aisle to show her the accurate price, took forever to figure out refunding me the amount, didn't pay attention what I was telling her, didn't apologize for slow service, and subsequently made an a** of herself. At that point, I was already too exhausted from my boring morning hours at my office and therefore, did not file a compliant with the store manager or yell at her. This pharmacy never fails to fail. As a pharmacist, sadly, these "colleauges" are a disgrace to our profession. I turned in rx's for a medication for two people and noted the dose was incorrect (its weight based, and the doctor clearly wrote the wrong dose, not realizing she needed to multiple the dose by the patient's weight in kg). The dose was waaaaaay off. The pharmacist didn't notice. I pointed it out, also mentioning that there should have been one refill as the medication needed to be repeated according to guidelines... blank stare back. After explaining this several times, the pharmacist tried to search in their computer base to verify my statement, and couldn't even figure out what the drug was after all my explaining. After clarifying, and some more blank stares, he confirmed, yes the dose was wrong. He offered to call the MD to correct it. I called back the next day, and I was told my rx is ready -- wrong dose (even more wrong than before, and still no refills). I then called the MD office myself, and she stated I just ordered what they told me was the dose. I informed her that was incorrect, to check her sources, and please correct it. 3rd try -- called back again.... dose for me is correct, other rx is still incorrect, but they added a refill. Yay! 4th call back -- dose is still wrong, and person states there are now 0 refills. When I stated I just spoke to someone earlier who said there were refills, they had no idea what I was talking about. O.M.G. 5th call - rx dose for one patient is correct, but now there is no rx for the other patient. I can't see what the 6th call to them has in store. Scary! read more
