Half the time, I walk in and turn right back around because the line at the register is so long. It is actually faster for me to go back to my car and drive to another drug store than wait in that line. Dude, why is this location not up on Yelp while the Turnpike Road location is? Is someone retarded or what? The Calle Real location is closer to campus than the Turnpike Road one! Anger vented and on to my review,....it's CVS. Come on. Nothing special. Most people will know of CVS as a beauty/health supply store more than anything, since generally 1/4 to 1/2 of the store space is dedicated to such products. Girls love it and guys who care about their appearance (like me) appreciate it. But vanity aside, CVS is also a great place to pick up booze for that party or a bunch of random snacks to pig out on while ignoring your study books. The snack section is pretty fun. CVS also sells magazines, greeting cards, and some household items. Pretty much same shit Rite Aid or Walgreens would sell. CVS also makes me LOL at some of the random ass stuff it sells. "Seen on TV" gimmicks, disco lights, little waterfalls, etc. I bought a random $15 set of fake battery operated candles here once. Kinda regret that...the batteries to 2 of the 3 candles died after barely a week. Weak! Haha Anyways, the staff here is nice (this lady once searched the store up and down because I refused to pay $3 for a nail clipper and wanted one of those 99 cent ones) and this location is pretty well kept. Some shady figures lurk around the lobby of the store sometimes though, so be careful. I've seen this dangerous looking hobo, and group of white boys on the hunt for weed, etc etc. read more

We stop at CVS quite often for various needs. As a store, we are highly satisfied. Sometimes, the selection leaves a little to be desired. For example, my son needed a cooler to take food for his boy scout camp. CVS didn't have one as the clerk said these were "seasonal items" and we were not in the right season. Fair enough. You have limited space in the store. My wife, like CVS, is from Massachusetts which has very cold winters. In Massachusetts, picnic coolers may indeed be seasonal - all you have to do is go outside and your food will stay cool. This CVS is in Santa Barbara. Coolers and swimsuits are not seasonal items here, but year-round needs. So I implore you to consider the local needs rather than making blanket corporate decisions. Give your store managers power to sell what is important to locals. If you want to maintain control at the corporate level, then create various zones. Even California has a variety of climates, so a CVS in Wrightwood, California will need to sell a different variety of stuff than in Santa Monica - about 2 hours away. After all, Santa Barbara, California and Northampton, Massachusetts may both be politically liberal communities, but the climates are vastly different. read more

Well organized, very large. Usually stocked pretty well. The cashiers are usually very friendly, but the staff in the aisles are slightly reluctant to help. Also, the lines are always long! And they usually only have one or two cashiers. I think their prices are slightly high. I'd rather stop at Target on my every-other-weekend trek to LA. read more

I've used their pharmacy quite a few times in the last month, and the pharmacy staff always seems a bit scatterbrained. It seems they mean well, but they can never find my prescription....it always seems to be in a different bin or whatever, and they get all flustered and "when did you drop it off?" "20 minutes ago" blah blah, then they finally find it in the other bin. They have a pretty good selection of general CVS stuff, but the one thing I couldn't find there was a little keychain bottle opener! Just a simple, metal, little thing that you'd expect to find next to the lighters, but nope! They had an ugly one in the middle of a flip flop shape on a keychain, but not just a plain one. Boo. Also, yes, the lines are always long with only one or two cashiers ever. read more

Beyond terrible. I have gone here for years after switching from Walgreens after they screwed up too many of my prescriptions, but I can take it no longer. As many other yelpers have mentioned the lines here are beyond terrible. Their "system" is so backwards and inefficient. Calling to check on a prescription will get you put on eternal hold, only to get hung up on. They say your medicine is ready, but when you get to the pharmacy it still takes 15 minutes for them to prepare. While it is farther away and the hours are not as good, the pharmacy in the Sansum building on Pueblo is OUTSTANDING, the service I got there was top notch. I'm taking my business there from now on. For things I need over the weekend or evening I will go back to Walgreens where at least they have a drive thru. read more

I actually think they do a great job here at the pharmacy. I come a few times monthly for my elderly folks. Scripts are ready at promised time. Lines move quickly (I've timed my waits in lines longer than 3-4 people). Staff are always competent and mostly pleasant. I'm going to see what other pharmacies there are in the area. I used to go to cvs all the time in my home town, but can't follow through with this one. They messed up my prescription twice my first time there, making my trip take two hours. Second time on a refill, they switch my medication brand without telling me (I called, asked if they were ready, they had said yes, giving me a heads up they were switching me then and there would have been LOVELY), and only give me 1/3 of the pills I was prescribed. Most CVS stores are slow, painfully slow. That's just the deal. So after waiting in line to be checked out, the the assistant manager made an error ringing up my order. OK. I make mistakes too. But I had to correct him about three times and it took about ten minutes from when he first rang up my order to fix his multiple mistakes. No apology, no sense whatsoever of customer service. This experience was more like being shoveled out of the store like a pile of trash that needed to be disposed. I realize that CVS pays poorly and doesn't train employees to emphasize customer service as a priority -- but even by their low standards this store failed. I've have had better luck at the CVS Five Points store on State Street in Santa Barbara. They too are slow but the employees are not all entirely hapless. I feel like it's only appropriate to write this review while standing in line at the pharmacy. I highly recommend avoiding this pharmacy at all costs. I have never waited less than 20 minutes in line, usually to be told that my automatic refill or my doctors e refill need to be "dropped off". The staff is incompetent, and there's no clear management happening. It's a complete disaster, and it shows. I'm switching pharmacies as soon as possible. After waiting a total of 55 minutes and in 3 different lines, I left the pharmacy without either of my prescriptions. Thanks, CVS. read more

Take your prescriptions somewhere else!!!!! Every time I drop off a prescription, they will say, "Come back (this many minutes) later and it will be ready." So I will run errands, come back at the allotted time, and it's not ready. This will happen SEVERAL times in the same day, where I am planning my other errands around getting medicine for my sick kid, and have to make multiple trips to the pharmacy because it STILL isn't ready. It doesn't bother me that it takes a long time, I would just prefer that they were honest about how long it takes, so I'm not making multiple trips in the same day because they are giving me the wrong time frame. read more

I really like CVS. They always seem to have a huge selection of things from over the counter meds to fun stuff for the holidays. The pharmacy has great hours and my prescriptions are almost always ready within a few minutes. Having little ones makes it hard to run errands even just a stop at the drug store, but since they have a nice wide selection of many things, it helps me keep the kids entertained while I get what I need done. read more

I have been picking up my mom's medication here at CVS since COVID hit in March. I understand they are probably overwhelmed but the attitude of the employees is bad. They don't seem to want to help customers with their medications and getting a hold of them on the phone is a joke! I've gone back 3 times for a medication that was supposed to be filled over 3 weeks ago. First time I went they said nothing was ordered. Second time was the same answer (even though the doctor's office ordered it 3 weeks prior), and the third time they said they didn't have the medication and didn't know when they would get it. Follow up: Called about my prescription- FINALLY got ahold of someone. We spoke for a while until she understood my situation, and then I had to call the doctor to make some changes, then called back the pharmacy. I asked for the same woman I had previously spoken to. This is for the pharmacy only. The other night I called in my prescription at 5:30 and was told it would be ready at 6:30. I arrive at 7:00 and wait in line for 15 minutes in the pick-up line. They couldn't find it, so they told me to wait in the drop-off line, which was another 15 minute wait. Finally they find my paperwork sitting at the bottom of a pile and tell me to wait about 30 minutes while they fill it. So, I finally got my prescription at 8:00 (read: I rotted in CVS for an entire hour). I'm not sure if this happens regularly, but I will not be going back to find out. read more

I stopped in here late at night to pick up some things during a business trip. The CVS store is very large! It looks like it was a much larger store the CVS decided to occupy. There's plenty of room for all of the items. In fact, it's so large it feels a bit lonely. You will find everything and anything you could want from the CVS at this location. Consistently bad experiences. They don't seem to restock. I can never find staff to help. This has to be the city's most incompetent pharmacy. It is not unusual to have to wait two or more hours for your prescription, which requires merely typing up your labels on a bottle and filling it from a giant bottle in the back shelf. If you're trying to find out if your prescription is ready, the phone message says someone will help you momentarily. They should look up that definition or change the recording to say someone may help you in the hour or two. I'm taking my prescriptions elsewhere!!!! New resident to Goleta...... read more
