Extremely slow service and the refill prescription order online is a mess. I reordered only 2 medications but somehow got charged for 2 additional others that I no longer use and did not want. Reversing the error Costco made was next to impossible. I HATE that my employer's insurance forces me to use this service. I've waited as many as 3 weeks for medication to come from Costco so I tried refilling a bit sooner the next time but the system wouldn't allow it. I'm now to the point of having my doctors send my prescriptions to the local pharmacy and pay out of pocket and use Good Rx. 1000% easier and faster. read more

Horrible. I desperately needed my prescription, so called at 2pm to verify it had been received. She said it had, and signed me up for text updates, assuring me that "there might be a way to get it delivered, but I don't know how." I called 3 more times over the next 6 hours to confirm when it would be ready for pickup, and to reiterate that I still hadn't received any confirmation. Every time she said it would definitely be ready before they closed at 8:30pm, and that "there is a way to have it delivered, but I don't know how it works, so you have to wait for a text." Every time I said I hadn't received any texts, including the promised confirmation of enrollment. Every time she told me either to just keep waiting, and/or that she would try it again, and hung up. I called back at 8:04 stating that the pickup person would be there before 8:30 and checking for an ETA yet again, as I still hadn't received ANY text messages (her 4th and apparently final opportunity to troubleshoot the issue). She said it would be 10-15 more minutes. The poor person picking it up waited patiently until 8:24 when they told him it was finally ready. They said he could not pick it up without a QR code. Still no text, so I called again. They "unenrolled" and re-"enrolled" my phone number, and I immediately received both of those two texts, so nothing wrong with my phone. Still no QR code for pickup. I was told it "it must be an error with the system, but we can't release your prescription to the pickup person without the QR code, and we can't send a code before we close." I was then transferred, and disconnected. The actual pharmacist seemed very nice the one time they intercepted the call, but everyone else answering the phones is clearly either completely inept or so drastically untrained as to be a health hazard. read more

We were forced to transfer from Optum to Costco earlier this year. Costco Pharmacy online is garbage. Not once have I been able to complete a refill online. It takes 30 minutes or more on the phone every time to get a refill. And when I finally speak to a person, they can't tell my why the online never works, only that management is aware of the problem. The pharmacists at Goleta Costco are either too slow or too lazy. My prescription was submitted on Tuesday. On Friday I drove to Costco to see why my prescription hadn't been filled yet. "The pharmacist is working on it now. It will be ready in 30 to 40 minutes." I complained about being kept waiting three days. Isn't that long enough to fill a subscription? It was ready in 20 minutes. There is a CVS pharmacy across the street. It might be time to switch to that one. read more

Amazing staff. Every time I go in to pick up a prescription or call this pharmacy I am met with such kindness and patience. I have never had a bad pharmacy experience in general but I think that this pharmacy goes above and beyond in professionalism and kindness and that's why I felt inspired to actually leave a review. This is a great pharmacy! They have always been very courteous and on time with the medications I've picked up.

I don't know what kind of problems the people organizing this place have, but it's really incredible how badly and often they mess up everything. I've had my doctor both call and fax and have Costco say they never got anything. I've called 5 times after each time my doctor calls in to have them say again that they never got anything. Magically, a week later they have the prescription, but of course you have to call to ask. I've had them fill the prescription in the wrong city, had them tell me they could transfer the prescription no problem, and after 6 calls and 3 visits to Costco still not be able to get it. Today, I called earlier to see if a new prescription was received. They said yes (FIRST TIME EVER) and that it would be ready after 4pm. I was shocked but didn't get my hopes up until I actually had my medication. As I got in line a woman left frustrated and told me "Good luck!" On her way out. When I asked they said oh actually we don't have the prescription it is backordered. I told them I was told it would be ready at 4. They said they didn't know why and that in the future I should call ahead. HAHA. The only reason I would ever go back after the first nightmare is because prescriptions through my insurance are free only at Costco. read more

Absolutely terrible! We switched to Costco as we pay for ours and our children's medication out of pocket. We've gone here for 5 prescriptions now and each time we have more trouble then the last. I've called to make sure prescription was ready as I never got the text I was expecting this morning (mind you, after they had my husband waiting for a prescription to be filled last night for over 30 minutes before telling him they had to order it for the morning) the girl on the phone pulls up my son's info and says the prescription is ready, we go in, my husband has now been waiting 20 minutes, they tell him it's not ready, as they are telling him I get the text that the prescription is ready and waiting for pick up, he tells them about the text and they suddenly say it's ready but needs to be mixed. I was prescribed generic Imodium (loperamide) for a gut problem caused by powerful antibiotics. Costco suddenly stopped providing it. This should have been my first clue about the Costco pharmacy. But today things got interesting. My wife went there for a flu shot. She presented our insurance card which is supposed to pay 100%. The technician wrote the insurance information on the paperwork. But then they charged her $20 as if we had no insurance. I immediately called the pharmacy and talked to a technician Edie. She told me we would have to come back in person today or we would not get a refund. I asked to talk to the supervisor. The good news: Kevin the supervisor was willing to run the insurance over the phone. The bad news: He still claimed they could not refund the money unless we came back in person. I pointed out that everyone is required by law now to carry insurance that pays 100% for the flu shot. So, why are they taking money from customers at all? He claims some people still don't have insurance. That still does not explain 1) Why did they take money from a customer who did have insurance that pays 100%? 2) Why do they have no way to refund money to our account? Or at worst by mailing us a check? By the way, I have gone to Walgreens, to CVS and to Rite Aid in recent years. None of them ever asked me for money once I showed my insurance card. read more

Just switched to Costco Pharmacy for my Viagra prescription and I have to say it has been the best decision of my life. I don't know what it is, but the product has been working great! I have been saving money and my wife has never been happier. I always get the best service with a smile and I am always smiling when I am home with my Viagra! I can even use the text messages to let me know when everything is ready! It is so convenient that I haven't missed a night in months! Best prices, but the service & refill/pick-up experience is absolutely lacking. Unfortunately, I will keep subjecting myself to this because their hours, prices, and location are good. Each time I pick up a prescription, I wait a minimum of 10 minutes. I've gone at a variety of times during the day/week and this had not made a difference! You may be recommended to wait to the side if they have to make any corrections to your pick-up - be sure to ask if you can go shop for your groceries and return when you're done. This will save you the frustration and the wasted time. I have a non-preferred brand prescription with a manufacturer's coupon taking anywhere between $40-100 off my prescription (depending on my insurance). every.single.time. I pick up my prescription from Costco, they do not apply this coupon, tell me it's expired (when it's not), or tell me they can't find it on my account. I have tried to call in my prescription and talk to a pharmacy tech over the phone, explaining in advance to apply this coupon, but after 3 months of doing this, nothing changed. This means I wait in line to pick up my prescription, they show me the price, then ask me to wait to the side as they re-run the prescription with the coupon, then I wait 5-10 more minutes. For refills, I've only had negative experiences. For one, I requested that the pharmacy contact the doctor for the refill and it took 8 days before the prescription was refilled. For another, I called to check on the status of the refill that my doctor sent in (after the doctor said they tried to fax the refill twice and the fax said it failed to deliver and then the pharmacy didn't answer the phone) and the Costco Pharmacy said they didn't receive it... then said "wait let me check the fax machine." And it was there. If there is a place with better prices, I'd be glad to know! read more

I've never had an incorrect Rx or bad service experience at the Costco Pharmacy. They have a great text message service that schedules my refill pickups for me! I stood at the window, not in line, for nearly 10 minutes while person after person passes by the window without any acknowledgment. The employee that left the window just as I came up did look towards me 5 times while I stood there but did not ever come back. I did have a prescription to pick up that WAS ready so I got in line after getting all my groceries. I told the employee what had happen and they said sorry and they would fill it right away..........can you come back in 30 minutes, WHAT???? Atrocious pharmacy and service. After fifteen years of going to the Costco Pharmacy I have to give up! Their staff is completely useless. Two recent events have put me over the edge with them. First, I dropped off a Rx to fill (30 pills) and left with the directions to return in about an hour. I returned, and at that time they told me that they had run out of the meds on the Rx. They couldn't tell me that BEFORE I spent an hour waiting? They ultimately directed me to Rite Aid where they were able to fill it quickly and effectively. Costco claimed that they had trouble keeping that med in stock due to "government issues." Ridiculous, as later I spoke to their regional pharmacy rep (Barry) who assured me that was not true. The final, and second straw, was when I went in to fill a Rx and after a few minutes, they told me that the number '2' in the handwritten date 2018 looked like it had been altered. This was now my second visit to Costco Pharmacy to fill this, when two weeks earlier they told me that the Rx couldn't be filled until after a certain date. They didn't complain about the "2" then. Their senior representative said that the "authorities" were clamping down on Schedule 2 prescriptions and that everything had to be perfect. I took it to Rite Aid and no one questioned it, and filled it promptly. I don't know about everyone else, but my life does not revolve around hanging at Costco to fill a prescription. I have much to do in a day and Costco winds up as a total waste of time. Go there at your own risk--of wasting your valuable time! read more

Having read the other reviews, I am surprised. There has been a couple of occasions where prescriptions have expired, or another anomaly has occurred. However, almost every time, I call the pharmacy and use the touch pad to re-order my prescriptions (phone number is on the prescription container). It's ready in about a day, and other than waiting in line to pay (which is the norm in any 'brick and mortar' store), I have had no problems. Many times, I have walked right up to the register clerk with no waiting. For the few times the wait seems long, I remember how much I am saving and many people are taking advantage of that savings right along with me. My regular prescription used to cost me $40/month, now it is $6.00/month. A small wait seems to be a minimal price to pay for a $34.00 savings. read more

Costco pharmacy is probably the worst pharmacy I have ever shopped at. Several times, I get a text message letting me know my medication is ready, when I get there, it's not ready and they ask me to come back in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later, it's not ready again. My last experience was so frustrating; I dropped my prescription on Monday 10:00 am; the pharmacist said it will be ready in 20 minutes. Knowing how bad they are, I went back the next day, 26 hrs later, and it wasn't ready. The pharmacist said it will be back in 20 minutes; I finally left 40 minutes later and the medication wasn't ready. They have to change their system or something because we are talking about people's health. So frustrating. On top of parking being a problem, the lines at the pharmacy and then the medication is not ready for days. read more

I called the local pharmacy and they will not deliver so they told me to order online. But their website will not accept their location that is on the bottle. So I don't think I ordered it and I am 79 years old and my husband is 85 years old with heart disease and we don't want to wait in line forever to get the prescription. When I talked to the pharmacy they said that it would take two weeks to get the prescription and since I'm ordering early that would be okay if it will go through. Their website is not working. Spent an hour waiting for my prescriptions only to find out that they only had filled one of them and they needed me to wait another 20 minutes.... An hour and twenty minutes is a BIG difference from the 25-30 minutes they has said. When you're sick, being out in public is the last thing you want to deal with. Today's Wednesday. I called last Thursday to renew my prescriptions. They say if you need approval from your doctor to give them an extra 48 hours, well I'm here to tell you that doesn't work. First their fax machine broke, they didn't bother to tell the customers about it until I called wondering why my prescription hadn't been refilled. Then they sent the fax to the wrong doctors office. The guy they had answering the phone was a complete jackass, never apologizing for the delay, saying it was the doctors fault when the doctor hadn't even gotten the fax. I never got the sense that he cared about my health at all, like it was all some big game. I'm recovering from surgery, it's very difficult for me to get out of the house. When I actually went to pick them up, at least prescriptions they had ready, They hadn't used my current insurance they used my insurance from last year which didn't go through surprise surprise. I asked about delivery, which they said they do online but none of them knew anything about it, and when I've been on their website before none of my prescriptions rushing there for refill. I think I will be contacting my insurance companies pervert mail-order action provider from now on. I came from I came from CVS opening Cosco would be better, and maybe it is marginally. my order is not wrong every time, but I cannot recommend Costco. Search yelp for a locally owned pharmacy if you can find one. This is not the first time I've had to wait for one of my several prescriptions. read more

Got in line for 10' but they didn't have any ready and asked me if my doctor faxed it in? they checked the system and found it then asked me to wait for 30' to 45' for them to start filling. What was wrong with them while fax came in from 9 am until 4pm still not filled yet????????? after waiting 30' they called me to have partial order with only 2 pills out of 6 pills and asked me to come back the day after to receive other 4 pills. The Goleta location is an absolute nightmare. Every single time I have tried to fill my prescription here there is a long wait, bad service and mistakes. There is absolutely no communication or follow-up if you need a refill. You have to call repeatedly for a refill only to wait in at least a 20 minute line to be told there is no record of your prescription. It happens to me every single time I try to use this location.
