There is always a line at this location, no matter what time of day (even at 10am on a Tuesday). The patrons are what causes the long lines. They write checks, use a million coupons, or have 20 questions. With only 2 cashiers working at a time, it is a very frustrating shopping experience. Please hire more people. read more

Clean, organized and under control. I like the fact that they have a beauty treatment area inside - quite interesting for a CVS! I see they are trying to spruce it up, but to me they only appear to be a cheaper version of ULTA, which is a sorry excuse for a Sephora. Either way, it has to be convenient for some people, so I commend them for doing what they do. I only stopped by to get a bag of candy for under $5, which I quickly bought and then carried about my way. I'll be back again. read more

I have been going to this CVS for over 10 years, never had an issue. Now that i have to make my first return EVER I could not believe the ignorance behind the service I received. The manager who "assisted" me was so difficult and spoke to me as if i was illiterate. I bought $200 worth of cosmetics and needed to return what I hadn't used or needed. The total back was $86. I could understand how a store could be upset with this, but i have been a frequent customer specifically for cosmetics and have spent so much money here repeatedly! Although I had my receipt, was well within the time frame for full refund timeline. I my original debit card to show I entered my pin, she would not issue me a cash back refund. I let her know that my account was not valid due to fraud, so i preferred cash back since I used debit. She said that there was only option to give me store credit and I could call customer service if I had a problem. She said refunds cannot be warranted over $30. Seriously? I asked to refund just $30 and she said she could not because it would void the receipt. Give me a break... now this is ridiculous. Filed my complaint with their customer service line, could not believe the hoops they make you jump through for this. Thanks to This Manager Amy was it? Find a new profession outside of customer service, i won't be going back to this location even though it is down the street from my home. Received an email from CVS on Nasal Products being recalled. I have been suffering from severe sinus issues (infection) for the past few weeks and blamed it on the smoke in the air from all the fires. Now I'm wondering if from this Nasal Mist I have been using in abundance. Went to the store with my product immediately, to talk to the manager about this recall, and to my amazement neither the girl at the register or the manager (Chuck) knew anything about it. I asked the girl at the register if I could talk to the manager and after two calls to him, he just told her to refund my money. It was busy in the store so she called for some back up, and Lord Behold, here comes Chuck on his cell phone. Didn't say a word to me or show any concern, and rang up the next lady as he talked on his cell phone. I went and looked on the shelves and none of the Nasal Mists were pulled. Either their electronic system sucks or a bunch of idiots work there. I have told them at least 15 times NOT to put my medications on auto refill. I tell them every time I go and it never gets fixed. Last visit I told them to discontinue one of my medications because I'm not taking it. I only take three medications, it should not be that hard to discontinue the one I told you. Come to find out they discontinued the medication I actually need for pain! My pain comes very quickly without notice so when I call in for a prescription, they said they need to talk to the doctor because it's discontinued. What! You need to talk to a doctor because YOU guys made a mistake? After I pushed for it and said that should not happen, I'm getting my prescription. So congrats, you went from one star to two. I'm still going to go there though just because I like the parking and all pharmacy's suck. I just wanted to put my two cents in. I came in not feeling well to buy Sudafed. It's flu season so the gentleman in front of me was actually buying the same item. ROXANNE ring the man item up he signs and leave. Some would like to call it "unconscious bias" I DON'T! I get to the register I ask for Sudafed Roxanne takes a sigh and hesitate versus saying ok sure or whatever. I sit a cvs coupon on the counter. She immediately says "you can't use that coupon". I say no problem. She bring one kind over and immediately says you can't return this. Being used to living my whole life around this behavior. I said why would I want to return it and why didn't you tell the customer before me the same thing. She claim she did but I was right behind him and I heard the whole conversation and that was never said. She says well those people do try and return it. In disgust say well I'm not "those people" what people drug users and meth makers?! I'm appalled by her conversation I couldn't look at her. And had I felt ok I would have just went to another store. I will copy this comment onto yelp next. Until "unconscious bias" is addressed with the correct discipline actions this will continue. Being a person of color should not require me to except and tolerate and make excuses for this behavior. I'm not one to complain, like ever! However, I ordered 167 photos ahead of time for one hour pick up. Came after and hour and 20 min to give them some extra time. Came in and they still haven't started the order. On top of that the paper and ink was out which took additional 10min. It's been an hour and a half and it's still not ready. This stores customer services has gone down tremendously. I rarely ever come here, and now I remember why. The employee barely even cared about situation or my time. Better off going to target or Walgreens and printing your pictures from there. 0 stars. The cashier at the pharmacy was extremely rude. Her name was Rocquel. She had an attitude the entire time. We told her that we were paying with a credit card and she said that it was our fault that we didn't click that option on the screen. We took the card out and did it again only to find that there was no option. I notified her of this. She then said that we should know to press the green button to surpass the PIN number screen instead of simply informing us of this. I told her that she was being very rude and she responded very snarkily asking if she had offended me. I will not be returning to this pharmacy since the service was absolutely terrible. To be completely honest, I believe that she was being discriminatory because she did not have this attitude with the previous caucuasion customer. I am of Asian descent. Very slow if you need deliver or pick up a prescription. There is always a large pharmacy staff that completely lacks in efficiency. Every single time this is my second time I have ordered and tried to use the curb pick up. Since the bad weather I am disabled use crutches or a wheelchair. Will be soaked wet if before I even get to the front door. Last time my order was canceled. This time they don't see my lorded. Placed my order at 4-6pm don't said u will get a message or text keep ur app open. The notification should be no later then 8pm. Here is 9pm I can they can't find my older. Was informed will be ready tomorrow. Really this is disappointing to offer a service that can't even be done. So the person at the store said they will call me today once the order is ready since I placed it early evening. Well here is 9:56pm and nothing. This pharmacy continues to be utter CRAP! I had paid for a $600 medication that was suppose to contain 3 individual injection pens. When I arrived home and opened the box, I was shorted 2 full injection pens!! When someone is paying $600 fro a drug, you had better make sure the pharmacist knows what she is doing. They should have been penalized for this....literally stealing $400.00 from someone! Secondly, I picked up some cough syrup and upon opening it at home...the liquid was clear. Mind you, the description label on the bottle said "purple liquid". I Immediately called the pharmacy and told them there had been a mistake and the pharmacist implied that someone in my home was trying to harm me and tamper with my medications!!! I took it back and demanded a refund for the mistake that they had made. After the Pharmacy Supervisor, Al Mohempour investigated the case and claimed he looked at the pharmacy security cameras all I was offered was a $25 gift card for the countless hours and multiple trips taken back to the pharmacy to resolve the issue. A few weeks ago I spend 38 minutes on hold because they were short staffed....I could have driven there, made my purchases and returned home twice in that time frame. Today, after I spent 25 minutes on hold I called the pharmacy on a second phone to ask how much longer the wait was going to be. I was greeted with a nasty attitude and was chewed out by the female Pharmacist whose name starts with an A. I was on the phone for a total of 36 minutes with people who need an attitude adjustment or that seriously hate their jobs. How many customer complaints does it take before someone is transferred, fired or let go? This Pharmacy staff needs a serious face lift. Hello, Al? Do you even read these. The last time I called, on Monday 12/30/2013, I was placed on hold for 23 minutes and they have not picked up. I am a fan of CVS - but not the one in Castro Valley. This has been my experience so far. First off the store is depressing. I hate being in there and always want to get out asap. I am sure that does not help sales! Now my experience with the pharmacy: I was switching over to CVS because my company changed insurance. I called this CVS pharmacy and asked them to transfer all my prescriptions from target pharmacy to here and refill a specific one today. I called back in the evening to see if my prescription was ready for pick up. After being on hold for a long time, the technician told me she had NO record of me or my call in her system! So I was transferred to an actual pharmacist who was able to find me in the system, at which time told me my prescription would be ready the next day. OK...not so good. When I went in the next day, I was told i'll have to wait 20 minutes for my prescription to get ready....what??? I was told It would be ready. There goes 20 minutes of wait for my prescription to get ready (at which I browsed the store) plus another 20 in line to pay for it. I was happy to be out of there. The next day I received a call from a technician from the pharmacy saying: "Hello, we don't have prescription such and such in stock"! I said: "I didn't order anything, I already picked up my med yesterday". Technician: "oh...we are filling all the prescriptions of file for you"..... Me: "Hmmmmmmmm......why?" Technician: "Hmmmmm.....we thought you wanted them all" Me: "absolutely not....where did you get that idea?" Technician: "I guess we will restock them all" ok if this is not crazy incompetence, I don't know what is. now I am calling them for another refill and ive been on hold for 15 minutes already....I AM STILL ON HOLD. read more

My lord, this place is inefficient. I can deal with the tired aesthetics, but the absolutely horrendously slow and inefficient service in the pharmacy has put me over. I give it a single star because they have a drive-thru, which is somehow usually a little faster than the inside service. I switched to CVS after we moved from Hayward to Castro Valley, and now it's time to switch to Walgreen's. As a nurse, I've somehow managed to garner some patience for my fellow colleagues in healthcare, but I've now been driven to Yelp this pharmacy for all the wrong reasons (but in the spirit of providing real info and spare others the same hassle). The last straw for me was this past Friday. On Thursday evening, I called the automated Rx refill number to refill my asthma med before leaving for Maui. I entered a pick-up time of noon on Friday. When my boyfriend and I went to the drive-thru to pick it up at 5pm (five hours AFTER I requested it to be ready), we sat behind two other cars. No big deal, we waited 5-10 minutes (which, frankly, is much faster than the inside service). When we pulled up to the window, the pharmacy tech working the drive-thru asked for my information. When I provided it, she looked it up and inquired about the med. I provided such information and she provided me....with nothing. That's right--the medication was NOT ready! I asked her why it wasn't ready when the requested pick-up time was noon and we were actually five hours later than that. She said, "We are about three days behind on refills." THREE DAYS??? Are you kidding me?? She asked if I was in their text messaging system for notification, which I am not. However, they do have my phone number and can call me (and she said they would), as they have other times when they were inappropriately auto-refilling medications for me. It has been nearly two days, and I still have not gotten a phone call, nor do I have my asthma medication. Thankfully my asthma is well-controlled and I have my rescue inhalers with me, so it's more the hassle right now than a real acute issue. But I am truly boggled as to how a pharmacy manages to stay in business when they're THREE DAYS behind on refilling medication orders. Clearly this is a retail pharmacy, because in my field of inpatient healthcare, waiting that long for a med can be life or death. Granted I didn't plan accordingly and let my med run out, but I have NEVER been told my pharmacy is three DAYS behind in refilling medications nor have I ever had an issue having something refilled when requesting it the next day. Needless to say, when I return to the mainland, I will be switching to Walgreen's down the street. read more

Pharmacy is a joke. Takes them hours to fill a prescription after they call you and tell you it is ready for pick up. When I went to pick up my two prescriptions today the cashier told me to see someone in the back because they had questions about my insurance. When I got to the lady in the back window she said they had duplicate accounts for me. I asked her to correct that. She took 10-15 minutes to do that then asked me to go back to pick up window. She said they would call me and I do not have to stand in line. No one called for 10 minutes or so. I went to the back window and she said oh she is holding it in her hand. Go back . I go to the front and the girl is taking care of another customer. When that customer left I asked her if the prescription laying there was mine and she said yes. Asked her why she was not calling me? "I was taking care of the other customer." But that customer had already left and had I not stepped in other in line would have kept stepping up to the window. Anyway I pick up the prescription and notice that instead of two she had given me only one prescription. Back to the rear window. The lady that had been helping me says I had only asked for one prescription so she only gave me one. Complete lie and basically stupid answer. Then she says that " Since you are in a hurry I will fill this later." I went and asked for the store manager. Explained to her what had happened. I also told her that I will transfer my prescription to another Pharmacy. She went back to Pharmacy and go my second prescription filled and called me. When they gave me the prescription they said the Pharmacist wanted to talk to me. I went back. He read of some directions on how o take the meds and then asked me where he should transfer my prescription. I told him Rite Aide. My assessment is that the leader Pharmacist himself is an idiot. Just because he makes big bucks and has his picture on the wall thinks he is special and better than CVS customers. What a goofball. He has zero people skills and has surrounded himself with equally dumb people. Avoid this Pharmacy if you can. read more

The manager Angelite has the WORSE customer service. I was trying to buy candies with the $5 off coupon. After 10minutes at the checkout, both the manager and another staff couldn't figure out how to get the $5 off my order. The incompetent manager was giving me attitude the entire time as if it was my fault! The line was getting long so I ended up just having them cancel the entire purchase. I have to agree with other reviews. Terrible experience here. The doctor called a prescription in on a Friday. I went to pick it up, and CVS could only partially fill the prescription, which I understand. While there, CVS did not have me pay my copay (it would be collected when I picked up the remainder of the medicine), but entered my insurance information in their system. Several days later I called CVS to see if the rest of the prescription had been filled yet or not. I was put on hold for over ten minutes, then gave up and called back. After asking me again to please hold, I said no, and then asked my question. I was told the medicine was ready for pickup. When I got to CVS they had my prescription, but no insurance information was on it, so the charged amount was full price. And, while they could update the insurance information, they couldn't then by law give me the medicine until the pharmacist came back from lunch, which was in 20 minutes. Of course there is nothing they could do at this point but make me wait. The initial incompetence of somehow the insurance being completely disregarded (no explanation offered for why it wasn't on the prescription in the first place) paired with the (more understandable) only having one pharmacist (and then none when it is her break) just astounds me. I feel like the pharmacy staff here has no sense of customer service, or just doesn't care. Maybe all pharmacies are like that? I will not go here again for prescriptions. I wish I had checked Yelp first. Safeway looks promising. I hope my experiences are more pleasant there. read more

I am very happy with my visit to this CVS. I got my passport photo taken at the photo department. Johnny was very friendly and helpful. He took my photo quickly and it was ready within 5 minutes. While I was waiting he told me about all the new photo products available, which is nice because I had no idea they had services similar to Shutterfly. I also had a coupon for $2 off which brought the price to under 10 dollars! I'll definitely go back for future photo related purchases. read more

CVS cashiers our pleasant and friendly , there are not enough of them - it makes shopping there much longer than need be. There are never any baskets, you have to look all over the parking lot before you may or may not find one. The parking lot is always full of litter - as a CV resident this litter blowing all over CV is unexcepable. My review is specifically about the pharmacy. Except for the time I waited 2 days after I called in my refill, my prescription is never ready when I go to pick it up. Once I waited over an hour after I checked in for a presciption that my doctor called in that afternoon. The shelves are not very well stocked, and the sale signs are often misplaced and you end up waiting in line forever just to get dirty looks when you bring a problem up to the staff.
