i've always had kaiser but switched to anthem and this was my first time at a non-kaiser hospital…read morein the bay. iwas seen today by the ER for anaphylaxis. they saw me, admitted me, and treated me SO QUICKLY. i was checked in on multiple times by doctors and nurses and everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. they provided thorough explanations and set clear expectations. being in the ER is never a great time but experience was a pleasant surprise.

The security guard greeted me with such friendly energy. The person who checked me in was also just beyond bubbly. I couldn't have been more pleased with how clean this hospital was. It was a lovely place to meet my newest great niece. And the staff in the Birth Center were amazing. They were responsive, informative, and you could tell they genuinely loved their job. This is the energy new moms (and dads) need when baby arrives. What a lovely experience overall!

In 2025 my mother had a brain injury and had to transfer from Stanford to an LTAC, so we decided to go with Kindred instead of another LTAC in SF, in part because accessibility and parking at Kindred seemed better to visit. This was a huge mistake. We spent the next months dealing with dangerously short staffing, and keeping a family member at my mother's bedside for all visiting hours. Nurse response times would EXCEED AN HOUR, and left my mother with anxiety that she still struggles with. Even respiratory therapists were hard to come by because they had too many patients to treat and clear my mother's trach within the frequencies she was prescribed. I took photos of the staffing whiteboards showing nurses with up to 8 patients, when they should have had no more than 4. Weekends were worse and holidays were skeleton crew. My mother acquired various infections at this facility, and nursing sanitization quality control was inconsistent. Respiratory therapists would re-use her inner cannula, rather than routinely replace, because the hospital did not have enough supplies in stock. As soon as Medicare insurance switched from per-diem to lump sum (weeks into our stay), Kindred staffing was VERY quick to urge a transfer to lower level skilled nursing, even though my mother still had a trach, zero mobility and fighting off infections. OT and PT was hard to come by, again because of staffing shortages, which only degraded my mother's bed-ridden state. (She did eventually transfer and gain the ability to walk again after finding better care) Dr. Nakagawa was one of the only saving graces here, as she truly tried to advocate for better care of my mother while the facility reps showed us minimal patient care and a lack of follow up when we complained about the sub-par treatment my mother was getting. That alone should tell you everything about how this facility operates. During her stay, my mother developed bed sores under their care--which is already unacceptable--but what makes it worse is that she now has a HUGE open wound on her back, clearly from not being properly rotated and cared for. Instead of taking accountability, staff have told me that I cannot move her because of the bed ulcers that were CREATED at their facility. So now she is stuck in a condition that they caused, while they continue to restrict basic interaction and movement. On top of that, she is frequently left unclean and smelling, which is beyond heartbreaking and completely unacceptable. No patient deserves to be left in that condition--especially someone who is fully dependent on staff for care. Communication is terrible. Follow-through is nonexistent. And the lack of compassion is shocking. As a family member and decision-maker, I have had to fight for basic information, basic care, and basic dignity for my mother. No one should have to go through this. This is not just poor service--this feels like neglect. I would never recommend this facility to anyone. If you love your family member, do not bring them here.

My Kaiser doctor wanted me to come in for a retina scan and a BP check. I had my choice of any…read moreKaiser Medical Center, so I picked Kaiser @ San Leandro. I reported to the 3rd floor Adult Medicine, and they had me wait. When they wanted to speak to me, they came out and spoke to me directly. My retina scan was non-invasive. It took about 20-30 secs per eye. Absolutely amazing! No more dilation drops, and wearing crazy sunglasses. The blood pressure check was easy. You get three attempts to pass. Tip: Don't look at the meter screen. Kaiser@ San Leandro has free parking. It's located at 2500 Merced. Near I-880 x Marina Blvd.

But it shouldn't have taken 3 weeks to resolve the issue. Horrible communication and inability to correct a mistake on their end. I needed a TB test for grad school and a lot of urgent cares didn't take insurance for the test. When I made the appointment on June 4th, the person I spoke with said they take my insurance. When I arrived for the test on June 8th, I was told the test wasn't covered by insurance and was $69. Since I needed the test for school, I just paid the fee and it was a little lower than some other places. However, they should have told me at the time of booking so I could have been prepared to pay or go elsewhere. The bigger issue is that they haven't refunded the $50 fee I was charged when I filled out my information online. The online portal just asked for my card info but nowhere did it say I'd be charged a fee. When I went to get my results read on 6/10/26, I showed the receptionist a screenshot from my bank account and she said that was a no show fee and they would refund it since I showed up to my scheduled appointments. When I check my bank account two days later, I don't see the refund. I've made several calls and the people I talk to keep saying they'll look into the issue yet my bank account doesn't show the refund. One person I talked to said I shouldn't have been charged the NSF because I had a TB test, not appt. It shouldn't take 3 weeks to refund the fee and am seriously considering taking City Health to small claims court. The person who did my TB test was friendly but I would not go back to City Health due to the above issues.

Doctors and so-called specialists are not consistent with follow-ups. Communication with charge nursing staff is hit an miss. Appointment are and transportation is botched. Paperwork is lost or NOT scanned into record. State ADA Compliance is in serious violation causing injuries due to slip and falls causing broken bones and abrasions to Patients. Administration is slow to respond if at all to patiens request for ADA equipment and or assistant. Server sanitary, wheelchair and lack of grab bar issues go un-adressed. California States Attorney General Rob Bonta needs to open an immediate investigation in to Fairmont Hospital Operations, Practices, ADA Violations and Administrative Incompetencey. Forced Discharge without proper care is common. Little to NO follow-ups on disposition!

I heard bad stories of Fairmont. They are not true. It's an old facility, the patients are very poor desperate people. That being said the nursing staff is attentive, caring and there is good coverage. The doctors, especially Dr. Washington are knowledgeable and caring. Best of all are the PT and OT teams! They work so hard to get you better. Truly first class. The food is actually decent . They take your orders a day in advance. I wish there was a little more privacy as it's 3-4 to a large room . But I give them five stars for care.

The Psychiatric acute treatment of our daughter by ECT at Herrick Hospital should be categorized…read moremore than a malpractice. This is what happened. There is a medically known requirement for neurological assessments of patients, such as our daughter, with the previous history of syncope falls and hematoma that was established in order to avoid/prevent potential complications of the ECT treatment. This requirement, posted on both Mayo and Cleveland Clinics sites was firmly requested by us parents. It was rejected/ignored by the ECT treatment psychiatrist. As one may expect the blood clothes that are present can move if exposed to electric field and can produced brain swelling and other forms of electrical brain damage. In our daughter's case we have seen severe allergic reaction , very serious Urine incontinence and worsening of her mental health. It has completely erased her memory and produced reconstructed memories. Not only this but additionally she got a covid at the unit and was negligently released from the hospital while having covid and without informing us as her parents. we as parents have reported to the stuff an attending psychiatrist several times that our daughter is coughing but no action was taken. To our surprise the well known and seen delay in the ECT caused allergy of our daughter was tried to be presented as being caused by something else. In addition her current urinary incontinence was falsely presented in her after visit summary as has being already present when she was accepted to the unit for the treatment .

I am truly grateful that BFC has stayed open all these many years to serve low income people in need. And it really is free, but I always make a donation to help keep them afloat!
