One thing to add that doesn't directly have to do with Cutting Edge: should you need a packout of your household items, **DO NOT** allow them to refer you to 1-800-PACKOUTS. I am currently one week out from project completion and am still not moved back home because 1-800-PACKOUTS was not honest with my insurance company about the packout amount, and since the final amount is more than what was agreed upon, I can't pay it and therefore they are refusing to move my household items back. My insurance adjuster also told me every time he's had to work with them it's been an absolute headache. The takeaway: research your own packout company and tell your project manager that's who you'd like to work with.

Another unsatisfied and unhappy family here with Cutting Edge Restoration's work. For new clients reading reviews, LET ME START WITH -- ASK YOUR INSURANCE FOR THE WORK ORDER. This will help you find out how honest/dishonest the people you're dealing with. Like some of the other reviews, we were referred to this company by the plumber who did work because of the leakage. I wish I researched first. Now, here's our experience with photos. 1. Unprofessional. The quality of work doesnt live up to their tagline "Expert Service With Integrity." We let the workers be and stayed in the kitchen, me and my mom. They were playing music/song on the phone, laughing, and can hear videos being played. 2. One worked with paint in the garage and didn't put something to protect the floor. Used the hose and left a mess. Paint smears in the garage. I have to put cardboard boxes on that spot so when they come back next day it's protected just in case they'll work with paints again. 3. Appears as if they weren't briefed on what work to do. They painted half of our living room. Who would like a half painted wall? My mom even told the guys we were expecting the whole wall to be painted as we were told and understood it. Sent photo to Jose and he stopped by and look at it. Guys came back to paint the other half. I even felt like we were asking for a favor. But when we got a copy of the work order, it says there that ALL WALLS to be painted FOR A UNIFORM LOOK. How hard is it to brief the guys on what to paint? 4. We discovered one of them unplugged the washer/dryer and used the outlet because the washer/dryer wouldn't work. A "Can I unplug your washer/dryer so I can use the outlet?" would be appreciated. Or "Is there an outlet we can use?" Simple things like this will be appreciated by clients. Happy clients means more referrals. Business. There were even sawdust left in there which I took photo. 5. Said they were done working in the bathroom. When they didn't even did the caulking. They even have to be told to do it. I told the manager and I was told the guys will look at it when they come paint the other half of the wall. Guys came back, we were just observing. Again, didn't put anything to protect the floor/tiles where he put the paint. My dad did. They were ready to head outside, no clue at all that they will do the caulking or they were told about it so my dad told them. Only then they did the caulking. Still my dad even need to ask them to add more as what the guy put wasn't enough. With the vanity. It wasn't painted inside and outside. (See photo included if that looks painted to you). 6. Left mess in the bathtub. Didn't clean it after they were done painting. 7. Said they will be back to install wallpaper WHEN WALL WASN'T EVEN PRIMED. 8. We were told the allowance for the wallpaper is $1.10/sq.ft. If we select a more expensive wallpaper we'll have to pay the difference. Guess what? The allowance is $2.91/sq.ft. I told the manager if we, the client will get the wallpaper, we have to deduct the amount we are going to spend. He didn't say anything. We even went through the trouble of going to a store as he asked, checking online, making phone calls for wallpaper. Opposite to what we were initially told that someone will come to let us choose a wallpaper. While it says on paper that they'll provide the materials. We're prolly the first client they will work with asking for a wallpaper as it appears they don't know that the store they referred us to doesn't carry wallpapers. So with what we discovered on what's with the work order, we wish we didn't get this people to do the restoration job. 9. Other things we found on the work order that shouldn't even be there like doorbell. Seriously? In the bathroom? 10. Only heard from them today after over a month because my brother made a call at their office. But no. We don't want anything to do with these people again. Don't be like us. Read the reviews first. And speak to your insurance adjustor request a copy of the work order. Youll be surprised.

If one is ever in need for a restoration company due to water damage, Cutting Edge Restoration should be your first call. I'm am so thankful, my plumber, Fabian from Fabulous Plumbing, recommended this company. Having to go through a claim involving multiple insurances, HOA, plumbers, mitigation, and rebuild work, it can be both intimidating and overwhelming. However, through the struggle, I meant some of the best and trustworthy people. Sleiman, you were a god sent! You were so kind to me, taking the time to explain how a claim works and being there when the insurance guy showed up to make sure it was legit with what he and my HOA team were saying. I am so grateful for you. Not only that, when Sleiman and team came in to do the mitigation work, the level of professionalism and the integrity of how they handled the job and my home, was top notch. After the mitigation team, came the rebuild Team lead by Jose. Jose was another stand up guy who was very patient and kind. Jorge lead most of the work for the rebuild and he always put my mind at ease with explaining next steps and taking care of any concerns I had along the way. Cutting Edge restoration has some of the best people. They still value customer service, kindness, and integrity, something that seems really hard to find nowadays. Thank all of you guys for taking such great care of me. If I ever need future work (I hope I'm done for awhile) your guys are the first I will call! Thank you so much!!

Hole made by the plumber, didnt get fix until after one month. Repair in the interior was bing done but stucco is still open
    Angelo G.

I had water damage in the kitchen due to a busted pipe. Cutting Edge did the repairs and I would like to give credit to the workers who did the actual work. But for the management they need to improve a couple things. 1. Lack of communication. They need to have a plan laid out to the customer, they need to provide updates on a weekly basis. What happened to me is I dont even know when the workers will show up, sometimes they only work 1 or 2 days in a week. I keep on messaging the main office asking them if somebody will work in my house on that day. It should not be the customer asking for the update. 2. Sub contractors show up un-prepapared. They show up to my house at 830 in the morning and they dont have the materials needed this happened numerous times, this is a failure of the project manager. They will ask me that they need to go to Home Depot to buy materials, completely UNSAT. Also the plumber punched a hole on the stucco and did not inform anybody, they have been working on the interior of the house and the stucco outside is still open! They fixed it after a month when I told them that there is still a hole. Also the sub contractor dont exactly know what to do, I ask them about the project and the response is . 3. There are charges on the quote that are not performed, I did not complain because insurance paid for it but be careful with the estimate. Goodluck...

I had a catastrophic leak from the upstairs unit in the duplex I own. I live in the unit that was damaged. I am a retired widow so I was concerned about how the process would be handled. As it turned out, my insurance company caused the biggest delay and, frankly, for no reason as they accepted the quote from CER. Once this company was able to begin work, my concerns vanished. Jose Ruiz de Garcia met with me and explained the entire process and patiently all my questions. Work began and proceeded according to plan. Fran, the tiler, checked in with me as he redid my walk-in shower. They were finished on time and each of the workmen was polite and professional. I would absolutely recommend them for any job large or small

I had a high-pressure fire extinguisher leak from a pin hole opening in my bathroom that lasted less than 30 minutes Saturday evening. 125psi through a 1mm hole hurts when you try to deflect the water with your hands! But I lucked out! The water hit the back wall over the tub. What was on the tile was mopped up quickly and what made it to the downstairs ceiling exited from two light fixtures. Thanks to the miracle of Chat gpt, I'm confident that a total of 8 to 10 gallons of water left the pipe. I estimate half of it went down the drain or was mopped up (this is important later). Omar and Leo from express restoration arrived in less than 2 hours. They were professional and set up three dehumidifiers (bathroom, kitchen and pantry), marked the affected areas, explained the next steps and went over restoration scenarios. They left saying we need to wait and see how bad it is after a few days. Had the rest of the experience went as well, they would have gotten 5 Stars. Omar and Giovanni showed up early Monday. Giovanni, the project manager looked at the three areas and went straight into explaining the work they were going to do. Remove the downstairs ceiling (10x10 in the kitchen and 4x10 in the pantry), take all the flooring out of the bathroom and the bathtub to expose the back wall (6x15), remove closet carpet because the carpet got a little wet. ALL BEFORE TAKING ANOTHER MOISTURE READING. He said they would get started right away with the demo. I asked him to press pause and start with reevaluating the walls and inspecting for damage. His eyes went through a reboot. Trust me when I say this, except for the 8"x 8" hole cut by the sprinkler repair man, there was ZERO damage to the walls. They were not soft, not bulging, no paint falling off a single wall. In my heart of hearts, I believe had I not said anything, they would have torn my house up without taking another reading. Omar came in and I explained to him that I was skeptical of the extent of work they were trying to do. He took out his meter and used the surface touch function on the walls in the affected area. They also used their thermal camera that showed water spots in expected localized areas. And here's the problem. I was advised by friends in the restoration business. Two of them independently said that the company should test every wall with the two prongs that puncture the wall, not the surface touch meter before deciding to cut into anything. That didn't happen until I said I wanted that reading. My friends also said that since there was no visible damage or long-term leak, the measure of whether or not my walls needed to be opened up to dry should be a comparison of how the walls were drying. Although Omar and Leo marked the walls with tape during their initial response, Omar chose to test the lowest parts of the wall, where water would normally drain and emphasized that wet reading. When I asked about other parts of the walls, the areas that were wet Saturday, the readings showed that the walls were drying. In the ceiling, he tested around the fixtures where water escaped and a visible drywall tape seam. Again, my friends told me that those areas would obviously read wet since that's where the water escaped. At that point, I told Omar and Giovanni that my friends in their business advised me that since there wasn't visible damage, and I didn't have a long or active leak, my walls would dry on their own, especially considering there was probably less than 5 GALLONS of water that escaped into the house and we live in California, not Florida. Instead of demolishing the bathroom and kitchen ceiling, Omar started mentioning less invasive options. He wanted to lift up the carpet and open a wall adjacent to the bathtub to see the wall behind it. In the kitchen, he said he could start with a 2'x 4' exploration hole around the drywall tape to see how wet the area was and allow for more airflow. To be honest, had he started with that, I probably would have a large hole in my kitchen and ripped up closet carpet and wall right now. But it still didn't sit right. The carpet felt like i just had it shampooed. It was in no way damp or dank. And a 2x4 hole seemed awfully big for simple ventilation. My friend had water come out a recessed light two years ago. Her repair company cut an 18"x18" hole in the ceiling and formed a wind tunnel with a fan and plastic. When I mentioned that, Omar said that would also work just as well. His justification for the hole, even though the walls should dry, was that the wood is still wet and that why I need to open up the walls. I turned down the service and sign the memo saying so. It's Wednesday. The carpet is already completely dry. I got a meter from Home Depot and I'm measuring the drywall readings and watching the affected area shrink daily.

Competitive pricing - pricing was very competitive from the quotes I received from other cleaners. Bello also provided a breakdown of the cost and answered any questions I had. I appreciated that he was upfront with the costs and there were no hidden/unexpected charges at the end. 3. They have a portable machine! I was worried that the truck mounted machine wouldn't be able to reach my unit so they were kind of enough to bring a portable machine (does require extra charge though). 4. Thorough and careful - the team brought corner protectors so that their machines did not damage the walls/paint. They also took the time to wipe up any wet spots left by the machine on the non-carpeted areas. I am very satisfied with their professionalism and quality work. The first bathroom was not supposed to have a backsplash because I had a tile wall behind. The second bathroom needed a backsplash because there was no tile behind. Of course, they got both bathrooms wrong! It's literally been like this almost every day of the project. Everyone points the finger at each other while the owner Jaime has his assistant Gabriela send invoices for material costs that we never agreed on because they overpromised. No accountability. No time management. No respect for working Mom. The only guy who has done a good job is the tile guy Eduardo who has to keep coming back and redoing work because the other workers can't get the job done right the first time. I've literally never had a vendor drive me so insane in my life. Everyone warned me that contractors can be terrible but never in my life would I have imagined the stress this company could cause me. They came and removed the affected walls' baseboards and carpet ends, and set up some drying and dehydration machines for the affected areas, which we had running over the course of 3 days. Afterwards, they merely came and removed the machines, and did a check to confirm that the area was dry enough. The job should only have been worth a small amount for the labor involved, plus the rental costs for the machines. But they charged us a whole $2,000, and they didn't even put any baseboards or carpet ends back in, saying that repairs were not a part of this work order, and that we'd have to pay for a whole new work order in order to do so! We had originally only agreed to pay $2,000 because we thought it was only reasonable that everything would be put back in place and repaired at this price point. The problem we have here is that the company never clearly and explicitly communicated with us to ensure we understood that repairs were not included before we signed to agree to the work order, which they would have done if they were an honest company. We had only received an email that briefly mentioned the lack of repairs involved in the job. When we asked for an itemized cost breakdown and expressed our disappointment, they only sent us a very general report of the work they had done, and had the audacity to claim that it is unfair to them for us to say and ask for these things! We now still have missing baseboards in the rooms that they worked on and the carpet ends are still removed in the closet, as we have not reinstalled them yet. If this were a company that cared about customers, they would have ensured our understanding of the limits of the job before signing. They obviously did not do so, and it seems like such omissions and unclear communications could have been done intentionally to try and get as much money from us as possible, abusing our lack of understanding. I do not recommend hiring this company, as they appear to not respect customers and be deceptive in their communications and practices in order to try and rip them off.
