What a great find! Out of all the construction contractors this is the company to choose. When needing an inspection and quote (based on a structural engineer), they responded and scheduled it immediately. Based on their quote, which was so reasonable, I chose to work with them. They came out to do the work as scheduled. The crew were so polite and professional. They even cleaned up the debris in the crawl space from where they did the work. The structural engineer came back out to look at the work and he was very happy with what they did, and was certifying work that was done. They have no relationship so the engineer gave an unbiased opinion. Use this company for any construction work you need. Seriously, I can't believe I found a company that did great work plus provided amazing customer service. read more

I hired R.A.D. to replace the entire foundation of my historic home based largely on their stated availability and their reviews. It was a massive mistake. R.A.D. was unprofessional, disorganized, and performed poor quality work that had to be corrected by another contractor. First, during the post and pier work, a jack failed, dropping the center of my house nearly an inch. I had to run out to catch the crew as they were going home and insist they come back to evaluate the situation. They wound up having to call their supervisor (who was offsite for much of the project) and doing emergency work to jack the beam back up and shore up the walls. This resulted in cracking of my woodwork and distorting of my cabinets. For comparison, the company that replaced R.A.D. managed to complete the project without so much as one additional crack. R.A.D. claimed to have completed the bulk of their post and pier work in November, and we were slated to start on the perimeter foundation replacement in early January. However, a few days before the scheduled start, the person currently managing R.A.D.'s projects (as the owners have apparently stepped back from day-to-day duties) contacted me asking about taking pictures for the permit. Permits for historic houses take months to process through the city, which R.A.D. knew when they sold me on the January start date. They could have easily taken the photos during the week they were at my house in November, but failed to do so. They sold me on a date they were unprepared to meet, and expected me to accept a three-to-four-month delay due to their lack of preparation. When I confronted their manager about this, he stormed off without a word. I then had a conversation with the owner of the business, who apologized for the delay and admitted fault, but refused to apologize for the behavior of the manager. He also offered nothing to mitigate the delay and issues. At this point it was clear to me that R.A.D. could not be trusted to complete the project. The owner agreed to finish up the post and pier work so I could move forward with another company. Imagine my surprise when the other company opened up the perimeter wall, and we discovered that R.A.D. had failed to remove eight of the old post and piers that they had been contracted and paid to remove. These post and piers were over a hundred years old and badly deteriorated. In fact, their deterioration was one of the main reasons we undertook the foundation project in the first place. The new company, SD Footing Repair (who I cannot recommend highly enough), evaluated the remaining post and piers and determined that they were still bearing load. They replaced them at cost, for which I am grateful, and finished the project with no further issues. The irony is that I only hired R.A.D. because of the promised January start date, while SD Footing Repair had been unavailable until June. Because of the mismanagement of the project by R.A.D., I wound up having to hire SD Footing Repair anyway, and the project started in July. I am kicking myself for not hiring the better company in the first place. R.A.D. was probably a decent company back when the owners were involved in the daily work. But based on my experience with them through 2025-2026, I would never recommend them to anyone. If R.A.D. chooses to dispute this review, I will be happy to provide full documentation to support every statement above, and can file with the California Contractors State License Board to allow them to confirm the details. I have held off on doing so because I would rather move ahead with the remainder of my renovations. read more

We own a house in Normal Heights that was built in the 1920s. The foundation was shot. We hired RAD to replace the entire perimeter stem wall about 2 years ago. It was a big project. They did a great job. Now our doors all work and our crawl space doesn't flood every time it rains. More recently, we hired them to to install a drainage system for our yard and pour a concrete patio. Those projects turned out great too. RAD's quality of work is excellent. Russ and his crew are also very friendly, professional, and honest. I would definitely hire them again. read more

From years of having poor surrounding drainage, my home had experienced significant foundation damage. After hiring Private Eyes Engineers, a forensic engineering firm, to analyze my home's foundational defects, Private Eyes Engineers highly recommended RAD Construction. From the moment I contacted RAD Construction, I experienced nothing but excellent service. RAD Construction's team answered all of my numerous technical questions. I highly value an open line of communication with contractors, and William Reeves was in constant contact with me including working around my personal schedule. Within two weeks of signing a contract, RAD Construction began repairing my home's foundation, and I am beyond happy with the results from RAD Construction. I would not hesitate to hire RAD Construction again (but I doubt that I will ever have a need too again!). read more

We are very satisfied with the foundation repair and stabilizing work done on our 103 year old home. Everything was done in a timely and efficient manner- communication was easy and the workers cleaned up daily before leaving. Calls and questions were answered in a timely manner. We are very pleased with the referral to this company . We had time to review the detailed work description and have questions answered before moving forward with the work. Many thanks to everyone! read more

RAD did a cement, gutter and grading job for me. The team was exceptional. They were very kind and respectful. The cement looks great. There was one blemish area that the team corrected and accommodated my concerns. I would absolutely hire them again. Really appreciate their professionalism and the ultimate outcome. read more

I own an older home and the foundation needed to be replaced now that we're in the 110th year of its life or so. RAD did a phenomenal job. They communicated consistently and effectively throughout the entire process, set reasonable expectations and stuck to them, and were very proactive about helping me make decisions as they came up throughout the rebuild process. And at probably half the cost of everyone else I got bids from. Just amazing. I will happily hire them again when this foundation wears out, but I have every faith that that won't be for another 110 years. read more

Chose R.A.D. Construction to repair the foundation of my home. Made a big project (for me) go seamlessly. They were able to begin working a week earlier than planned. Everyone that I spoke to and dealt with was professional, communicative and completed requests/ information in a timely manner. Haley, Clayton, William, Jaime and Trent, the engineer, made me feel well taken care of. Raul, the foreman, was present daily with his crew(s) and led a hard working group of men. Raul was efficient, conscientious, knowledgable about the work. I was informed daily of what was happening. The crew were courteous and polite and, I will say it a second time, hard working!! The yard was cleaned up daily before leaving. I would hire them again. read more

RAD's William Reeves came out, assessed our problem, and told us things were OK, that in fact I didn't need their services. He was knowledgable, efficient, and honest. My guess is that if we did have a serious foundation problem, RAD would have done a bang up job fixing it, but the fact that they didn't make a big deal out of a minor floating slab crack speaks volumes. I see they have a lot of positive Yelp reviews, but couldn't help adding my own. read more

I can't say enough good things about RAD. I am a real estate agent and had a home on the market where foundation issues were discovered during the inspection. RAD did everything they could to get us on their schedule as quickly as possible and was readily available to the buyer, seller, and escrow company which made for a smooth transaction! read more

They were the opposite of transparent about the work they would be doing in the quote. The quote was intentionally left vague. They described work over the phone but then the workers ended up changing the work they would do last minute. I felt I was waaay overcharged. 2.5 people working 4hrs that used about $100 in supplies yet they charged $6k. I also had the work they did reviewed by a civil engineer and I was told the work was bad and did nothing to fix the issue. I would avoid RAD, I felt I was overcharged 3X. read more

We are renting a very beautiful, very old home in Pacific Beach, for which the owner recently hired RAD Construction to perform foundation repairs. I was very impressed with Raul, the team leader, who was always friendly, courteous, and very respectful of us and the property itself. He kept us posted on when they would be working, what they would be doing, next steps, etc. The entire crew was equally polite, worked diligently, and cleaned up the job site at the end of every day. I have never been happier with a construction crew. I also had the pleasure of meeting Russ, the owner, at the job site. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and attentive, and clearly committed to hiring quality people and delivering excellent results. I would highly recommend RAD Construction, read more

I had such a great experience with RAD Construction. I usually never write reviews, but in my 53 years on this earth, there are very very few people that I have dealt with in the construction industry that has been a positive experience, much less SUCH a wonderful experience. I need to back up bit and say that when I bought my house 11 years ago, it had cracks in the walls and I was fearful of the foundation issues that it had. I called Russ at RAD and he came out and fully evaluated and explained everything to me and told me that I didn't need to do any work at that time and that my house was safe and we should just monitor it for awhile. I called him back about 3 times to check things out and he always did so with kindness and patience and HONESTY. Never did he try to scare me into doing work, rather, telling me that work did not need to be done. After about 4 years from his last visit, I noticed a gap in the flooring and a huge crack that developed between the sliding glass door and the foundation, pulling the floor apart. I called Russ back and I also contacted 2 other foundation companies as well to get quotes on fixing since we couldn't get new flooring until this was fixed. The other 2 companies came in with their "salesy" presentation and outrageous bids. Super easy decision to go forward with RAD. From the very beginning, we had super easy communication and their timeline to get things done was so quick and they stuck to that timeline. They taped off everything so well and took the extra time to clean up every day before they went home. ALL the workers were super nice and respectful. Raul the foreman was super sweet and respectful of our place and went above and beyond to keep us informed and they worked HARD! He always had a smile and positive attitude. Being a woman, it is important to feel safe and not get a creepy vibe from the people that are working at your home. I was very thankful for that! Russ visited the job site DAILY to make sure everything was going smoothly. He found a 12 foot area where the footing had broke away and the rebar was showing and they fixed that for me as well. When I asked how much.... he said don't worry about it. I mean really, who does that? That was so kind of him! Thank you Russ and crew at R.A.D. I will recommend you to anyone, and I'm just so pleased with your company and crew, I want to scream it from the rooftops! read more

RAD Construction - Here is Raul... with that smile! Cleaning my floor. Cement work behind him. - General Contractors Near Me - Lemon Grove, California

My purpose here isn't to deter anyone from selecting this company for business. As far as performance, from what I can tell, they did quite well. My issue with them was their business dealings and customer service. They charge a minimum of $2500 (with a $250 discount for cash) per project. Again, not a problem as that was stated clearly. My issue is with their quoted project duration. Manny quoted 1 to 1.5 days to complete the job. With a crew of two or more people I thought $2500 wasn't cheap, but they did agree to perform the job on relatively short notice so I thought it was acceptable. The finished result was that it only took 1.5 hours (emphasis on hours!) to complete the job, a fraction of the time estimated. Now that might sound terrific at face value, but to me, this changes the whole situation entirely. Now, I'm paying a crew of two people $900/hr for the job! When I called and spoke to Manny I gave him the opportunity to acknowledge that he had completely overestimated. Nevertheless he was persistent that he had done nothing amiss. He said that if he finished the job ahead of schedule then they outperformed. My concern again, isn't with their performance, but with misleading information. Had I known that it would only take 1.5 hours I would have fielded additional quotes. Shame on me. I may be a fool but they are deceptive. And you choose who you would like to work with. As for me I will certainly never work with someone who takes advantage of my trust. Afterwards I spoke to Manny's boss, Clayton, figuring the manager might be a bit more reasonable and appreciative of my perspective. Instead he doubled down, and after several minutes of back and forth he hung up on me. Perhaps realizing his poor behavior he ended up giving us a $250 discount. That's the only reason I give them 2 stars instead of 1. Nevertheless I would have preferred a company who cares about customer service, and has integrity. In the end I will not employ them again, and I caution you to get multiple quotes as they are not good to their word. read more

R-A-D Construction recently performed a repair for a crack in the slab at our house caused by settling in the area of the fireplace and chimney. The repair included several steps, but essentially the load of that area was transferred onto pipe piles in that area. Rebar and concrete poured into the large pits around the pipes reinforced them. And a section of the slab was replaced to complete the repair. The work was performed by two different crews as there was about a one month pause while we awaited the results of a soils test to make sure the area on a hillside would support the repair. Both crews were very courteous, hardworking young men. They kept us well informed about the schedule for the work they were performing, showed up when they said they would, and cleaned up the area each day before they left. What more could you want? The quote from R-A-D was quite competitive with a couple others we sought out, the difference was in the people. We knew we were working with a straight-forward honest company. I would prefer not to need another foundation repair, but would certainly contact R-A-D if I did, and suggest you do likewise. read more

Highly, highly, highly recommend RAD. RAD installed a complete underground drainage system around our house, and graded the ground around the house so that water would run away from the foundation. We live on a hill, off of the street, and everything was challenging about this project. Russ, Diana, and Clayton were extremely responsive and friendly. Russ came out multiple times to take measurements, and to make sure things were going to get done just right. (He, along with everyone in the crew showed up wearing masks). Luis, Alvin, Tommy, and Tymacha completed the project professionally and worked diligently. The crew worked non stop when on site. This work was in the sun, in late August and early September. They cleaned up after themselves every single day, and roped off/boarded over potential hazards when they would leave at night. Before leaving, they would update us on what they completed that day, and the plan for The next day. This was a big job that they finished in a week. While they were trenching, they ran into a lot of large shallow rock and compacted dirt. (The trench was so long that it was over two feet deep at one point.). They brought in jackhammers and knew exactly how to accomplish the task. The main drain pipe also had to run under our asphalt driveway. They cut a very straight and clean line through the driveway, and sealed it up nicely when they were done. They also ran several pipes upwards so that our rain gutters can be connected to the drainage system. As if this job wasn't hard and hot enough, they kept the excavated dirt at our property, and made us a very nice path to our shed and leveled off some of our property around trees. The path is so nice you'd think we paid a company to come and do it. We can't say enough about them. We are so so impressed by their work, and who they are as people. They get along well together, work cohesively, and work hard. They are nice and good at what they do. You can't tell by the photos how hard and serious this job was, which is just a testament as to how good they are at what they do. We are very appreciative of their work, and we are very happy that we chose RAD. read more

I highly recommend Russ and his team at R.A.D. Construction Inc. It can be unsettling when you have foundation issues at your home and it is important to find a company you can depend on. My house was built in 1916, so had some creaky and "bouncy" areas of the floor, and a pretty significant dip in the center of the house. Rain water had been rushing under the house undermining piers for years. RAD replaced the piers, girders, and the stem wall. Pretty big project. My floors feel very solid and level now, and I'm less anxious about significant rain or further settling. My experience with RAD Construction was seamless and professional from the bid to the finish line. Will provided a very thorough and knowledgeable description of the recommended work, and Jose (foreman) was organized and professional and kept me in the loop daily, of work. All inspections passed with flying colors. The crew were conscientious and all business when it came to getting the work done. I felt at ease with them in such close proximity -under the house, outside the windows, etc. That said, they were quiet and unobtrusive. Every day they cleaned up before going home, leaving everything (tools, materials, etc.), in a safe and secure manner. The final walk through was successful. I am completely satisfied with the work and would not hesitate to recommend RAD to anyone. read more

RAD Construction came out to provide me with an estimate for foundation repairs after I experienced some cracks around my homes exterior stucco and sticking interior doors. Russ did a thorough inspection both inside and out and was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Russ was very honest about what repairs I needed and what could wait and even let me crawl around the foundation with him to give me a lesson on what to watch out for and what could become an issue in the future. It is rare to receive such excellent customer service and honesty in my experience with contractors. I would highly recommend RAD Construction to anyone needing repairs. read more

Russ and his team did a great job! We moved into a craftsman house recently and needed to have the foundation completely overhauled. We additionally needed to install a lot of new drainage for the property surrounding the foundation. Russ' quote was very reasonable (similar to, if not cheaper, than many other quotes we received for the same scope of work) and he worked closely with us to make sure that their plan would not only fix the house but also prevent future water damage to our house. The crew that did all the work (Michael, Alex, Carlos, Raul, Junior, and Osmar) were excellent. They worked incredibly efficiently despite, at times, extremely hot days. They very respectful to us, and more importantly our neighbors. We have a small property and in order to do the work they had to jackhammer right outside our neighbor's window and haul tons of dirt and rock up and down his driveway. Every day they consulted with him and let him know when they'd be making noise and did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day. Any day that I was home while his crew was working Michael gladly gave me a thorough tour of the property and the work that was going on. When I could not be on site, Michael was very prompt in responding to my texts/phone calls. During the course of the job we needed to make several change orders as we "unearthed" many problems left by the previous owners. Russ' whole team were very prompt and thorough in amending the plans, communicating to us what needed to be done and articulating exactly how they recommended it be fixed. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to get work done on their foundation to give R.A.D. a call. read more

My husband and I recently bought a house and had lots of concerns about the foundation/overall condition of an addition. We were referred to RAD Construction by another company and could not have been more pleased with our experience. Russ and Diana were very responsive and helpful. Russ came to our property twice and was incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and personable. He pointed out things about the property that were not included in the home inspection or appraisal that were very helpful to be aware of. Through his due diligence, he concluded that our addition was actually in great shape and didn't charge us a penny for all of his time & work. He referred us to several companies who could help with the renovations we want to do and each of his recommendations have been very good to work with so far. Even though he was not actually able to do any work for us, he continues to be a resource when we want a second opinion which is incredibly generous. RAD Construction was responsive with our quote and competitive. Russ is no nonsense and straight forward, honest. We opted for pre-inspection by an engineer to ensure that the work RAD quoted would satisfy engineering requirements. The engineer came back with several items that weren't on the original quote and Russ figured out a way to keep on budget with the original quote! He could have easily taken advantage and tacked on additional costs, but he worked a few things around and made it happen. Again, an honest person. The major cracks in our doorways are gone after the work. The engineer gave it the thumbs up in post inspection. His workers were courteous and cleaned up when done. Based on the worksite "chatter", they were having fun working together and presumable RAD. All around a great experience. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Replaced existing piers with pressure-treated piers Added additional piers Added new girders under doorways that needed more support Tied everything together appropriately on the top and bottom of piers Epoxy injected a horizontal crack in the foundation Jacked up and leveled the house, closing cracks in doorways Backfilled a trench in the crawlspace left from a prior plumbing repair read more
