We recently remodeled our garage. Our garage originally had old drywall from decades ago, exposed plumbing and electric, and no attic. Our goal was to make it a more functional room, add a home gym, attic, and tons of storage. I knew I needed a plumber, electrician, drywall company, framer, and garage cabinet / floor company. When I met Jerod, I was only interviewing him for drywall. However, during our conversation, we were discussing the framing as well for the attic and he informed me he could do it. For me that was a huge win. Having someone do both the framing and drywall just made the job easier to manage. During the job, Jerod was so accommodating with his schedule. He was able to plan his work with the plumbing, electrical, roofer, and A/C work that we needed done. For example, I would need him to complete the framing up to a specific point, but then he would have to wait for the plumber to do some work, and then would have to come back. He was so quick and had no issues with coming back for small items just to keep us moving. He also helped us with sound proofing as well. One of my concerns was our master bedroom shared a wall with the garage and I wanted to make sure my home gym wouldn't be so loud. He did his research and came up with great ideas to meet our budget. He installed the closet door, taking into account the uneven floors to ensure the doors were flush with the wall & frame. He focused on details to ensure the room door was aligned with the nearby laundry room door. He curved the corners to match the rest of the interior walls. He installed the baseboards to perfectly match the rest of the base boards. The end product looks as if it was always part of the house and added storage that we needed. He also removed speaker boxes from multiple rooms and patched up the ceiling to make it look as if the speakers were never there. Jared seems to do it all. He helped us change a dingy old room into a beautiful nursery. He removed an ugly dual mirror door closet, the frame, installed new trim, retexturized walls, closed up a doorway leading into a bathroom, and a variety of other things. The best thing? He showed up when he said he would, and on time. Project took a few days longer than normal, but he committed and was there until the end to get it all done in the right amount of time. Jerod is just about the nicest guy you'll ever meet; his vibe is somewhere between your awesome, laid back, next door neighbor and the coach for your kid's little league team. He answers my calls, chats, texts, cracks a joke or two and then gets right down to brass tacks. Drywall isn't rocket science, so he doesn't treat it that way. The work is straightforward and he explains it matter of factly. He is very busy, reasonably priced, accommodating and always seemed happy to talk to me. I know that may not sound like much, but customer service and actually being able to TALK to your contractor is a rare thing nowadays. My bathroom had a spill and ruined the ceiling of my downstairs neighbor, and not only did he come repair it, but he showed up TWICE, because he saw an electrical problem that he wasn't comfortable covering up. Of course that led to another month of red tape with a very unhelpful management company, but when the problem was finally fixed, he moved around his schedule, and fit in this repair on short notice. It was great working with him, and there was so much plastic everywhere that hardly anything got messy. Drywall isn't exactly neat work, but he made the best of it, and actually got extra work from my neighbors to repaint the whole ceiling (not just the part I was responsible for.) One note: He prefers check, not card, so I wasn't prepared; I thought most businesses didn't like checks. But like many charming one-man operations, this wasn't discussed because payment is a separate beast to them. I can tell he's focused on the work, and on doing a good job, not on overcharging or getting rich. My expectations for a good contractor are simple: they do what they say they will do, when they say they will do it, and do good work. Turns out it's hard to find that :) I found Jerod of JK Drywall on Yelp and he did an awesome job. I needed patching at three sinks from a recent job replacing the cast iron pipes at my house. I sent Jerod some pictures with dimensions, and he called me back as promised with a price range and an estimation of his next available dates. The price range was appreciated because it help set my expectation of what it could cost, with the understanding that once he actually saw the work in person, he could tell me if it was going to be lower/higher, etc. He also gave him a range on the dates of when he could potentially complete the job; I appreciated this too, because it's impossible to predict the future as a contractor :) I would rather someone set my expectations with a range than a promise they can't fulfill. As it turns out he was available earlier than he originally communicated, and we coordinated an earlier time. Jerod was thorough, cleaned up all the spaces he did work in, and did quality work. My house may not look like much to most people, but it's my pride and joy so I really appreciate that Jerod did such a great job. He really took care and it's obvious that he takes pride in the work he does. Jerod skimmed and retextured two walls that were butchered by whoever textured those walls before, repaired a bunch of damage caused during my central A/C install, covered up big holes in the wall where my wall heaters used to be mounted, created a really nice looking soffit to conceal the A/C lines running through a room, and patched up a bunch of other holes throughout the house. I recently had Jerod at JK Drywall come out and remove a window for us and fill the wall back in. They were prompt and communicated very well. Scheduling wasn't a problem and they arrived on time. They had the wall filled in but, due to some over jealous hammering from the frame guys, the drywall seam had developed a small crack. I called them back and without any hesitation, they fixed the crack and made sure it was perfectly straight. Highly recommend this company if you have an old house or just like your walls to come out perfect. JK just completed the drywall for my entire bathroom in my 1940's house. It was a difficult job with old crooked 2x4's and a strange 8 ft 2 inch wall height. Jerod was the highest price of the 3 bids I got but I think the reason was because he paid extra attention when scoping the job out and was supplying all the 5/8 drywall. I painted and prepped my damaged drywall and Jerod arrived on time and took the time to do it right.
