I paused from reading my book and had to look up when nearly every R&B song featured unedited lyrics with words like p***Y, d***, and *ss. I'm not a prude, but this feels completely inappropriate for a comfortable coffee shop to sit and read and be with families. It demonstrates a lack of respect for the customer experience. Respectfully, it shouldn't matter what a barista wants to listen to, it's inappropriate to have music on like that. Every since this location changed management it has gone down hill. I won't be going back to this location because the customer service is horrible. My girl and I have gone in quite a few times. Some of the lady's working there are rude. They would rather flirt with Fred Meyer employees then make coffee for you and that's happened a few times and we waited 30 minutes just to get our coffee.. half the time the coffee is made wrong. I was in tonight and waited 10 minutes in the drive-through and there was only one car head of me and when he finally got his stuff, he only had a 16 ounce drink and maybe a pastry. A few years ago I would've given this place 5 stars. Their coffee is not as strong as it used to be. Tastes more like a milkshake sadly and I have to get at least 3 or 4 extra shots. Normally I'm really happy with the service and I'm fairly regular in the mornings during the weekdays. Today was a different story. Only one car ahead of me and I still spent almost 15 minutes in the drive through! Came very close to driving away and wish I did. When I got to the window my drink was wrong. The barista did offer to remake it but by then I was already running late and didn't have 5-10 more minutes for it to be remade. The absolute worst customer service. I arrive at 5:30 am and only the drive thru is open, no problem, except when going around back to order there is a man asking for money and another person sleeping next to the speaker. Pull around to the front and it's actually the employee sitting on the couch, telling me to go around back as the lobby is closed. Love the relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff at this coffee shop! The staff are always quite warm, friendly, and inviting with a great sense of humor. It has been very consistent regarding service every time I've come in here. That in itself is what gets me to come back every time! There used to be one in Covington but that one closed down. Bummer! They have several locations but they are all further south such as in Gig Harbor and Tacoma. This location is in the front of the Fred Meyers shopping center on Pac Hwy in Kent. The decor is perfect with espresso colored tables and chairs that are perfectly placed throughout without feeling overly crowded. There's a small lounge area with 4 relaxing leather chairs in front of a fireplace. Perfect place to study or just relax. Their pastries are sub-par at best. They just look more appealing to the eyes. They taste better when heated up. They actually don't taste fresh otherwise. Now for their coffees... they have a wide variety of sweet espresso options. Their lattes are OK. I've had better but that doesn't deter me from coming here each time. One of the best coffee places ever and in the south end... sort of! I popped by one drizzly day for a small pitstop. I just like how nice, clean and cherry woody it is and yet it still feels cozy and comfortable. Some good seating variety, too (tables, chairs, bar counter). I got some snack I forgot and a dirty chai, or vanilla chai, I think. They were good and the girls working that evening (blondie hair up and brunette hair down) were super friendly and cool. I was attracted to this coffee shop because it was something different from Starbucks, and it was located inside my Fred Meyer parking lot. The drive thru is a long, narrow little lane, that takes you behind the other storefronts it shares its lot with. The menu seemed to have a good number of items from which to order. What I look for in a place like this is variety, and items that I can't really get anywhere else. Lo and behold, I saw they had Butterbeer Lattes! Having never seen this before, I had to try this Harry Potter concoction. There were 2 cars in front of me, 1 of which had already ordered. I spent 15-20 minutes just waiting to pull up and receive my coffee, which was piping hot and ready to go. The barista was prompt and very friendly. The drink was extra foamier than a latte (but I like this way so it was delish), but it honest to God tasted like a caramel latte. Didn't get a hint of butterscotch, butter, nothin'. I mean, if u prefer the bitter and burnt flavor of Starbucks more power to you but I personally think the shits nasty. Cutters just tastes better. The girls are all sweet and know what they're doing. I really like the overall atmosphere here. It's bright with plenty of cozy seating, along with a bar area and several tables. Unfortunately the baristas here are some of the slowest I've ever seen and they're not overly friendly. They are clearly more interested in chatting with each other than providing customer service. They made me feel like I was getting in their way and interrupting their conversation. Sorry for asking you to do your job while you're at work? It took over 10 min to get a single drink and there was no line, they spent most of that time talking with each other and very slowly getting everything together. I really do love the atmosphere here. It's very warm and welcoming with an assortment of seating options for whatever fits your fancy. The coffee here is very good. They have a large selection of flavor profiles for you to choose from and the friendly staff is extremely happy to walk you through them. The pastries however, I have to say are completely blah, mediocre at best. I have a thing for pastries with my coffee and I have to say I've tried many things there and it's all bad. The scones are crusty dry, the apple fritter was alright, and the banana bread tasted bland. But that's okay, The atmosphere and coffee make up for it. We stopped here with the family for a coffee Saturday morning. First the positives - the place is comfortable and a nice place to have a visit. I had a great Almond Mocha and my wife enjoyed her Hot Chocolate. The people taking the order were friendly and welcoming. What caused me to only give them 3 stars (which is A-OK per Yelp Standards) was first of all they did not provide a "real cup". Received my coffee in To-Go cup. If we wanted a To-Go cup - I could have just gone to the drive up. Also - My rating system includes if I do not get a simple design on my coffee -1 star. (My rating system :)) Also if I had not mentioned Almond Syrup I would have received a Almond MILK Mocha - not sure why. For years Almond Mocha meant white cow milk - if you wanted to change you need to post a notice or ask. Also they use too much bleach when they wash the tables - the smell ruined the taste of the coffee. We mentioned this and they could care less. Note - they were cleaning a table on the other end and we could smell it - ever hear of dilution. They could have at least pretended they cared. My wife is the one who mentioned it and she was surprised with the attitude. I would come back if I was in the area. read more

This is actually a nice coffee shop! I loved the decor and the ambiance upon entering the establishment. They had half priced drinks the week that I went. What I liked most is that this coffee shop had regulars that came in and sat and enjoyed their time. It was a great thing to see, it made me feel like I was in a connected community instead of a freaking city. I got the pumpkin blended and the vanilla bean blended for my son. My drink was perfect!!!! I loved it and was able to drink it ALL!!! Lol!! I used to love this coffee spot but the pure lack of care and attention to detail has made it where I will never be back here . I ask for a inch of ice in my drink and while they say they understand I still receive half my cup with ice . In what world is a inch of ice half of my 24 ounce cup . I know it's a simple thing of just ice but when your drink is 6 dollars and half the cup is ice is not acceptable. I have found only one person there that has a understanding on measurements. I love the apricot scones but their only seasonal during Spring. I was hooked when my Mom brought us scones here for breakfast. Went there today and since they didn't have the apricot, they offered their fall scones. I tried the cranberry orange scones and my goodness... I should have bought more than 1!!!
