While I stop here super infrequently now..it's been a few years, it's like not missing a beat as the ladies behind the counter (Lisa and Alicia (spelling)) are as fun and engaging as I remember! Tasty coffee options, and fun conversation in that they remembered me from visiting many times in the past. Open spacing, so a great place to meet others if you wish. Not loud and obnoxious as many other coffee places can be. I'll make it a point to visit more often on my trips to Tacoma. read more

I absolutely love Cutters point and it is my go to coffee shop in the area as I refuse to go to Starbucks. I've never had anything less than perfection at the Gig Harbor locations, but there is something off about this location. Twice now, I've ordered a cold brew and it just doesn't taste right (more like old coffee that's been refrigerated rather than actual cold brew). It's disappointing bc this location is an easy stop on my way to work but I think I'm tapped out after two failed experiences :( I will say that the gal at the drive thru was pleasant and polite so kudos to the friendliness of the staff. read more

This feels like a very average coffee shop with more-expensive than average drinks. We had the coconut white mocha and the bourbon caramel macchiato and they were good, but not overly special. Total for the two 16 oz drinks was $14.89. read more

This is going to sound so Karen, but damn. This one actually made me go and write a review. Ordered two drinks, repeated myself twice - I know it's hard to hear so I made sure to use the big boy voice. Both of the drinks were wrong. First drink was burnt espresso - which ultimately ending in a lap full of hot coffee (lid not secured). Second drink, I asked for iced, got a hot one. Instead of remaking the drink, they dumped a hot coffee into the ice, which melted instantly. So, I got a nice watery creation. I'll stick to the Gig Harbor locations. It's been kinda empty and bare since Covid but it's still a great place to study or get work done while getting something to drink. My only complaint is about the customers. I go in and order an 16oz americano. I pay and add a $1 tip. So somewhere around $5.50 + or -. My credit card is charged $8.30. I go back to get another coffee and mention that they over charged my credit card. The person/worker calls over what appears to be the manager. The manager asks me if I'm sure this is right location as if I am delusional, and I reply yes, I sat at the chair. The manager then explains that this can happen because Cutters Point can manually change the charge amount and tip amount and they must have made an error. She asks if it makes sense. I reply, No, not really, I don't think it makes sense that Cutters Point workers can change the amount or the tip. The manager then says I'm rude for brining it up and for saying it doesn't makes sense. The manager then pulls $10 cash out of the till and tries to give it to me. I refused since I want to pay for the coffee and over all I had good service. I ask that she only refund me what they over charged and tried to talk through the steps by asking what does an 16oz americano cost plus a $1 tip. Now, let me just start with saying that I don't just give out 5 stars. It takes a few visits of consistency, which this store and more specifically one employee has shown. I don't come in often, bit when I do the same employee is at the window. She remembers me, my dogs name and even recalls my niece who stops in there regularly. To me that is a BIG factor for return business. And also a sure fire way to get a good tip. 5 stars for this store and more specifically the employee at the window.....I didn't get her name but she was working on May 6th at 2pm. I love going here. They are always so sweet and kind and have a biscuit for my dog. This is my favorite place to get coffee in Tacoma.

Drive through was pretty fast and nice (look out for the entrance though, it's kind of weird). Mocha has a delicious forward chocolate flavor. Bacon breakfast sandwich has a fantastic complex flavor, though I wish it were real egg and not instant for the price of it. Will be coming back for sure. read more

I get a kick out of the negative reviews, such as "this place sucks, the baristas suck, the coffee sucks, but I always buy my coffee here". Well, if it was that bad, why do you come back for more? You must be into BDSM, seems like. Anyway I like their coffee. I just order a plain 20 oz. and have them add coconut milk. And the baristas have always been friendly. Furthermore, the interior is "sparse" because it has to be, thanks to you know what. It wasn't quite as good as some of the other places I've been. But the cold brew was good. They have quite a bit of seating. I was in earlier this morning (2/19/21) and noticed almost immediately that majority of the staff was working with either their masks below their nose or blatantly without one. So much so that I thought the blonde older lady was a customer and not an employee. Ah! More coffee choices continue to spring up around my home! I got a grande white chocolate mocha here. It was nice and smooth and not too rich likes some coffee drinks can get when it involves white chocolate. The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is a good place to chill. It seems busy and I settled in a nice cozy chair. All of the tables were taken but a small one that was by a bunch of cops having coffee. (Eye Roll) I had enough cops from last year to last me a life time and being in close proximity to them makes me more squeamish of them than before. That though is not Cutter's Point issue. Come one! AWWWWWW!!!!!! That is me singing praises of this place; never claimed to be a good singer, but I had to try, hahaha. Ok, I thought that I had good coffee before, but this place has blown me away. 1. The staff is SO SO SO friendly, and they know all of their regulars by name! 2. Clean, really clean: The whole set up is beautiful, and very welcoming, and they had plenty of seating! 3. We ate burrito's, and at first I was blown away by their $5 price, but it was a lot bigger than it looks, and it was really yummy! I won't be buying them everyday, but it was worth it. 4. THE DRINKS!!! All I can say is WOW! They know how to make a good cup of coffee, and their flavored drinks are awesome! 5. I can't wait to go again! I hate leaving a 2 star review but after too many times of the same things happening, I had to make sure other potential customers were made aware. If I was only rating the coffee, it would be 5+ stars. However, the attention to detail of the staff is what caused the 2 star rating. There have been 3 different occasions where I ordered a 24oz drink (two times it was an iced drink, once was hot) and I was charged accordingly but was only given a 20oz drink. Unfortunately, each of the times this happened, I was already in a hurry and was unable to turn around to get it rectified. However, it should be on the person at the window to make sure what they are handing their customer is what they charged the customer for, not the customer themselves. Another time, I had ordered a 20oz hot Americano and was handed a 16oz iced white mocha. When I stated that it wasn't my order, the girl at the window rolled her eyes and said "just keep it" & didn't say another word to me after getting me the correct beverage. With regard to the staff, they are chipper about 95% of the time (the other 5% being the instance above), but it comes off as so incredibly fake. That became clear to me when I came inside to order once (in an effort to get the right drink and the right size) and I received the overly cheery customer service, to only have the barista finish helping me and then go over to her fellow barista to complain about an incident that had occurred with a customer on an earlier shift, and continued on to to mock the customer's weight & blame her weight on the issues that had occurred.. I was not the only person in the store at the time and there was no effort made to conceal her voice. I'm sure I wasnt the only customer wondering what would be said about me if I complained about a problem. It's really unfortunate that these issues keep occurring, because their coffee really is delicious and the store itself has a great atmosphere. I don't know that I will be going back. read more

The gal at the front counter that took my order was very sweet and helped me pick out sugar-free syrup for my drink. I was thrown off because there were about 10 people seated without masks so I was already nervous. She made me a great drink. However I asked for another splash of nonfat milk and while I was waiting there's a small child seated behind the counter actually on the counter being allowed to put syrup in a drink I guess? Not quite sure why there was a small child behind the counter with no mask he looked to be about four years old. I'm not concerned about the child not wearing a mask, let's be clear I'm concerned about the child being behind and sitting on the counter where my food and drink were being prepared.There was an older white woman probably grandma. She was not wearing a mask at all in fact stuck her fingers in her mouth and picked something out of her tooth right in front of me very unconcerned. So effing disgusting !!! my drink went right in the garbage. I should've had the lady that added the milk into my drink had her mask hanging off her ear while she was talking to the child and letting him make a drink.I will never be back. I needed a pick me up but I fell for the Butter Beer Latte on the menu because I'm a big HP fan! The baristas were able to make it vegan (syrups in it are fine) with the soy milk instead of the whole milk. It tastes like magic. Kudos to the nice baristas for being so nice about my questions. Not much of a coffee drinker these days but this is a local shop that is nearby and my teenager is a fan. I've only frequented the drive thru and to be honest they are a little slow. The ladies are super chipper, genuine, hmmm maybe? I know I've had to remind them of what my order was by the time I get to the window and that I also ordered food. The coffee itself is ok, nothing out of the ordinary, definitely better than Starbucks but that's not saying much. My daughters loves all the goodies in the bakery case, I haven't tried any yet. We like to support local small business so we choose to stop here versus the other and in hopes that the drive thru can move a little faster, lol. read more

This is the worst Cutters Point coffee I have ever been to. Horrible customer service and very rude staff. I normally go to the kent location and all the girls there are amazing and so sweet. I always order a cake batter frap. If you have not had one you should, they are delicious. But when I went into the Tacoma location the girl asked me for my order and when I told her what I wanted she said, "oh we don't have that anymore. It's been gone for about a year." I was shocked to hear this. She then proceeded to stare at me so I asked if they had anything like it and she just responded with no. She didn't try and be helpful, or suggest other drinks I could have. So I decided I was not going to get a drunk today and left. But before I walked out she told me how Cutters was a franchise and they are different.... Great thanks for letting me know, that's not helpful to me. I would never go here again. I tried to keep an open mind after reading the reviews. First stop in here though I pass by nearly every day. I was greeted by the head-down barista as I walked in the door. Another gal took my order, complimented my outfit, answered my questions and went to work on my drink. I was hoping to find a good cup of chai. They serve Oregon (watery and no flavor) or Big Train (super sweet, over-processed chemicals and full of crap). So I went with a soy latte. Pretty basic. The staff seemed to be very interested in a young man and continued teasing him. My drink was plunked down on the platform with no announcement, no eye contact, no "have a nice day." Completely ignored. I could tell when I picked up my drink it was all foam. Soy milk will do that, and if you know what you're doing, you can make it with little foam or you SCRAPE most of it off. For $5 for a basic latte, I'd expect a little more. During my visit, either a regular customer or employee came in with her family -- a brand new baby too. The staff was extremely happy and basically abandoned all work responsibility. I don't think I'll return. I'm trying to leave Starbucks as their prices continue to climb, but at least I know what I'm getting there; and a good cup of coffee, chai or matcha are just one of the simple things in life. read more

They play country music inside and I just don't understand if it's their concept of playing the music that most clientele in their age group would even recognize any music that's being played or maybe they have no concern but play what their staff wants to play. The coffee wasn't even hot and the lay out is rather awkward and the staff was more voluble among themselves than paying attention to the customers. If I didn't know I was going into a lesser known coffee shop, I would have thought I walked into a major coffee chain. The place itself is really nice, but it looks and feels like a chain. I have no idea how I feel about that but it was my first thought so there you go. The mocha tasted like a mocha, so nothing good, nothing bad. However, the... I don't remember its name, but something really stupid like Choco Chocolate Frappe... that was amazing. Frappes are usually amazing and this was extra amazing. Maybe that's why they give it such a lame name - so only those comfortable enough with themselves to order such a poorly named beverage are willing to give it a go. Of course, as I mentioned I don't remember the name of the drink, so maybe it was something awesome like "Bitchin' Chocolate Frap, Biznatch" in which case I take it all back. The two workers did a fine job. I didn't even realize it was a drive through until I heard the barista talking to no one. There is also a lot of comfortable seating if that's your thing. Also, in front, two kids were trying to pawn off empty gift cards for 20 bucks, so hooray! Tacoma! There isn't a lot to say about coffee shops that's funny, but I approve of this particular one, so go for it, champ. read more
