The service was only $28 so I'd say that I got great value as I got the manicure, hand massage with an exfoliant and could have had nail polish if I wanted (they just bluffed my nails shiny instead). The owner, I'm assuming, was with another client that she was giving a pedicure to and she was very welcoming and pleasant which created a relaxed atmosphere. When I arrived everything was pretty much ready to go because I made my appointment online which was super convenient. I also thought it would be fun to get my nails painted but being a guy, I tend not to ask for fear of being judged. Horrible experience. Owner is rude and unwelcoming, at best. Specifically, if you use Class Pass to book your salon reservations, do NOT go to this particular salon. The owner makes it VERY clear that she does not appreciate the entire Class Pass process and would rather lecture/scold a person (in front of others) about making any changes to the service(s) booked, even if those changes are of a lesser amount, benefiting her salon. It's sort of like how you're treated when you use a Groupon at some places. Ugh. Here's an idea: Do not affiliate your business with such apps if you do not appreciate those who use them at your business. There aren't many nail places near me in Uptown, so glad I discovered this spot! You have to make an appointment, but they are pretty flexible. They are super accommodating and didn't even cancel my appointment during the snow storm last week (I told them it would've been fine). I went with my girlfriend and we were the only two. It's a small space with three chairs set up for manicures and three for pedicures. We both got no chips and loved them. They did such an amazing job. I made an appointment first as Cuticle does not accept walk-ins. Basia runs her business without a staff, so I completely understand her policy. In a world of so-so nail salons, this one is a beautiful gem shining through the muck. Basia is hilarious and snarky and so fun to talk to. Her employee, Julie, does an excellent job making sure your nails turn out perfect. She made my nails look like they just grow shiny and brown and I'm so amazed at the level of perfection. I actually went here months ago to get gels taken off, and Basia just glued my broken nail out of the goodness of her heart. She really cares about the health of your nails and will make sure you leave happy. Clearly I left happy, because I came back later to try out the $35 no-chip manicure. I just left this shop and I LOVE it. Basia and her team are wonderful. I had Veronica for my no chip manicure and pedicure. She did a lovely job and paid careful attention to detail. It's a small shop which I loved. I was happy to sit and listen to other clients chat. Make an appointment as there are no walk in spaces and as the weather warms I have no doubt they will be busy. I've been here twice now and will definitely keep going. The first time I went, I just got a normal manicure. I was getting a no-chip or dip manicure for a while and the other place I went to always used a drill to smooth my nail, obliterating the hopes of any nail strength. I asked for just a normal manicure as I'd spent 3 months growing my nails back out and know I still have a little longer to go. During that manicure, I learned Cuticle is against using a drill. Thanks to this, I went back and got a no chip mani and a pedi today. Yay nail health! At the other place I was going to, if I asked for no drill, they'd say there was no way to not use it... So, back to Cuticle. They were able to start my mani while they did my pedi, meaning that both took just under an hour and a half. I love when this is possible. The seat for getting your pedi is cozy and they placed a plush pillow on my lap to rest my hands on as they worked on those nails. It was very comfortable, another plus. I was also offered and accepted a water, another nice touch. The colors aren't as extensive as other places, but I still found what I wanted so no issues this time around (so more like a 4.5 but like I said, they still had the colors I wanted). I feel bad that I don't know the names of the two women that did my services, but they were both wonderful and very sweet. On top of all that, my nails look great - great shape, full coverage. Loved my first no chip manicure with Basha. My experience was truly 5-star worthy. We chatted and laughed about life together. Not only is she a badass female business owner, from the other end of her station she's ready to chime in and give much needed life advice if you're ready to listen -- like a wise sage mail technician. I'm not the type of person who likes to sit in silence at nail salons. I'm a people person and like to chat. For those reading reviews, thinking "this place sounds great, but a one woman show? that might be awkward" -- stop. call, book an appointment, and go. I was pretty anxious going in because I'm not a great conversationalist and was worried about it being weird with just two of us in the shop. However, I loved Cuticle and will be returning as well as sending all my friends in the area when they need their nails done! It is no longer a one woman show, although Basia does still steer the ship. She now has two other women working with her and they are great. Unfortunately I don't remember their names, but I had one do my pedicure & the other my no-chip manicure. Everyone is SO easy to talk to and the experience was super pleasant. I am SUPER into nail polish and shared with them that I usually do my own gels at home, so we chatted about everything from my large polish collection, the brands I use, and Japanese nail art. Its been two weeks now and my nails (mani & pedi) still look great. Although I do my own no-chip at home, I do "treat myself" to a professional mani about 2-3x a year, so next time I decide to splurge I'll DEFINITELY be going back to Cuticle. read more

Even during a pandemic, STUNNING nails! I called and left a message about a first time appointment, and wanting a pink nail. They had all their pinks ready and waiting for me, and we tried each one on. I've gotten my nails done so many times and have never been offered that before. The girl who did my nails only put two coats of a color that was very light, and it looked like my nails weren't even painted. She only added one more coat after I complained to her that it was too light, since she was going to leave my nails looking like my niece painted them for me. I was looking forward to going here over the summer. I had a long-standing appointment that I had to pay for ahead of time. She was ten minutes late to open on a 95 degree day. I was calling and calling and knocking and knocking. Then she comes down the street and doesn't apologize for being late. I had to acknowledge it. The salon was HOTTER THAN heck because she didn't get there before her customer to cool it off with the AC. I have a medical condition where I cannot be in a small overheated space like that with zero air and all humidity. I love dogs, but her dog was bothering me and licking my legs and she wouldn't call him off of me. I eventually said I was uncomfortable and just couldn't go thru with this appointment. She told me she would refund my credit card AT THE END OF THE DAY. I said, no, you need to do that now and give me a refund receipt. I was ten minutes early because I was being professionally on time. It was so hot and a strange man kept bothering me outside and smoking cigarettes at me. read more
