America's Tire

It's time for me to get a tire rotation and the best way I found to get this done is make an…read moreappointment online at America's Tire. If you purchase tires like I did at America's Tire or also known as Discount Tire out side of California, you get free rotation and rebalancing for the life of the tires. Free flat repair as well! I rotate every 7000 miles or so. It does actually even out the tread wear, so you'll get more life out of the tires. Making the appointment was easy and as long as you can plan ahead a little, you can get the time of the day you want too. I just brought my car in at the appointed time and they took me in right away. They first come out to the car and check the tread wear and mileage and stuff. The waiting room is clean and has good places to sit and wait. The WIFI works fine for web browsing and email, but really not fast enough to stream movies or anything like that. I like to sit and write my Yelp reviews while I wait. I watch my car taken into the service bay and two guys go to work on it, almost like a NASCAR pit stop. Up goes the car and bam bam bam, off go the wheels and rolled over to the balancing machine. When the tire techs finish balancing and re bolting on the wheels, they do the final tightening with a torque wrench instead of like a lot of places just blast on the bolts with the air wrench, zap zap zap and done. Using the torque wrench they make sure it's not over tightened, especially if you have to change a tire in an emergency out on the road and it too damn tight! I'm in and out in about 45 minutes, all balanced and rotated for FREE! You can go to any store location no matter which location you purchased your tires. You can't beat that deal!

After a bad experience at Les Schwab Tires, I decided to give Nor-Cal Tire a try because of the…read moregood things I'd heard about them. As soon as I pulled into the lot, I was greeted by a really friendly guy named Sam. I told him about my situation and how Les Schwab refused to rotate my tires, saying they were in "bad shape." Sam said, "Let me take a look at those tires and see what I can do for you but, If you bought tires from there you have to go back there" I then clearly mentioned that the tires I bought were when I bought the vehicle and they hadnt been changed since day 1. After checking them out, he showed me the wear on the outside of the tires and confirmed that what Les Schwab told me was true. But instead of just sending me away, he offered me options. He said, "I can get you used tires or new tires--whichever you'd like." I thought about going with used, but after talking with my wife, we agreed new tires were the better choice since she drives the car every day. Her safety comes first, and I couldn't agree more. What really stood out to me was that Nor-Cal Tire makes it easy to get what you need, even if you don't have the money upfront. They have a program that's 90 days same-as-cash, so you can get your tires right away and make payments directly from your checking account or debit card on the days you choose--like payday. It's simple, and it doesn't create overdraft or banking issues. Sam worked with me and got me set up with four brand-new tires that were mounted and balanced at a great price. I won't share the exact number since I know it varies, but let me just say I left more than satisfied. The brand was one I hadn't heard of before, but honestly, new tires are new tires, and I felt good knowing we'd made the safe choice. Thanks to Sam and the Nor-Cal Tire team, my wife and I are both happy customers. From now on, this is where I'll be taking all of my automotive needs. I'm really glad I found them through a Facebook group. As long as I'm living in Redding, I'll be a loyal Nor-Cal Tire customer.

I had my serpentine belt replaced at this shop before leaving on a trip. Ron was great about…read moregetting us in last minute to do the repair, and I appreciated that at the time. However, shortly afterward -- while we were out of town -- the serpentine belt came off completely. We were stranded for hours with my kid being put at risk at a side of a road and had to find an emergency mechanic to install a new one properly. A newly installed serpentine belt should not come off if installed correctly, which raises serious concerns about the workmanship. When we called the shop while stranded, the phone was answered, but Ron was unavailable and busy at the time. We were left to figure the situation out on our own. When I went back on Tuesday, Ron wasn't there, and the staff present seemed annoyed that they had to reimburse the emergency repair cost. Although the shop refunded what I paid the emergency mechanic, they refused to refund the original amount I paid them for the repair that clearly failed. If a repair fails due to improper installation, customers should not have to pay for that failed service. I am asking the shop to take full responsibility and refund the original payment. I hope they choose to stand behind their work and make this right. Until then, I cannot recommend this business.

Staff was so good and courteous. They asked if we wanted to get tire replaced or get it plugged and told me how Les Schwab patches and plugs after hearing my hesitation on plugs. I told them we were on vacation headed to the Oregon Coast and they lived up to their words. Within an hour we were on the road. Tire repaired free of charge. Granted I watched the tires but after 6 days of driving 8 hours every day since. I gots that warm fuzzy feeling and want to share my cudos for this team over at the Les Schwab off of Market !

Even though I arrived on time for my appointment, it took over an hour before anyone even started working on my tire. What's the point of making an appointment if your car is just going to sit there while others get helped first? No one bothered to give me an update or apology for the delay, and the waiting area started to fill with other customers who seemed just as frustrated. I've had good experiences here in the past, but after this visit, I'm seriously reconsidering coming back. If they can't respect appointment times or communicate with their customers, it really hurts their reputation. Definitely disappointed.

I bought very expensive aftermarket bulbs but discovered the front bumper must be removed to change the light housing which I also wanted to replace. I saw this body shop had high stars on Yelp so I called to ask if they would perform the work. Their immediate response was "no" and "we don't do that kind of work and only install OEM components." I kindly asked " do you recommend anyone else that will do this work for me?". Immediate "nope, you'll just have to call around" They were about as helpful as a broken fence post and could care less in my opinion. My next phone call was to Underhood Automotive. Immediately helpful and professional. Chris said they do this kind of work all the time and install DOT legal headlights on older Shasta County Search and Rescue vehicles. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. Strong Automotive has high stars so I'm guessing their body work is pretty good but customer service is also very important and in this department, they have a long way to go.
