My favorite restaurant from their resort! And apparently their lunch and breakfast is even better! The waiter was so nice and brought us all the appetizers, drinks, and helped us choose entrees and desserts! Not ridiculously small portions like some of the other restaurants on the resort and very tasty!

This is ideal for lunch and breakfast and it's a fantastic buffet, there is usually no wait. If you eat here for dinner it's a completely different place. You will need reservations for dinner, the food is exotic and fun for dinner and a complete departure from the breakfast buffet which is world class.

First time at this restaurant. Surprising the food was pretty good. Would love to come back but it's reservations only and they don't have any more openings for the rest of my stay here at The Grand. My favorite "Huge Corn"

Food was good, but service was very slow. There was also a strange smell in the restaurant.

At this point, you all must have read the amazing experience people have written about in the other reviews. This is just supporting those experiences with a similar one of my own! UNBELIEVABLE is what I want to shout out loud from the page and I hope I am able to do that (cue fireworks and bottles popping) in the next few sentences as I expound on the virtues of this oh-so amazing restaurant! A slice of heaven on Earth, easily! The standout dish for me was the ceviche! Perfect blend of citrus and creamy with no fishy smell or aftertaste! The bread pudding is TO DIE FOR! Decadent and sinfully satisfying that you want to have a cigarette after with your coffee, and I don't even smoke! For gastronomic eaters, Casa Amate will satisfy your palate. Casa Amate's menu and ambiance are eclectic. Being in Mexico, I had to try Casa Amate's version of the ceviche, which was the Kampachi Ceviche in Leche de Tigre Cream and Rocoto. Most ceviches are marinated in the same ingredients: lime, tomatoes, jalapeños, red onions, and cilantro. Casa Amate's ceviche was unlike anything I've ever had. Instead of the usual ingredients, the Kampachi Ceviche used roasted corn kennels, sweet potato slices, cornnuts (canchita) and was served on a pool of rocoto chile cream for the eater to mix as desired. For the main course, I ordered the Pampa y Costa, which was oyster and wagyu with chimichurri sauce, served in a large oyster shell. The oysters were the star of the show, while the wagyu and chimichurri sauce didn't really add much to the dish itself. The wagyu was too chewy/overcooked and lacked flavor, which was surprising considering the addition of the chimichurri sauce and the type of beef used...

Our experience was very different than from what we are used to in Hawaii and California. This is definitely not a kid-friendly restaurant if your child doesn't eat seafood or anything spicy. That seemed to be the only options here other than their take on miso soup. Our poor daughter left hungry and we left feeling much to be desired. I was hoping that there would be more vegetable tempura or simple agedashi tofu options, but... I was definitely surprised to see how packed this restaurant was nightly as they always had quite the check-in line. I probably ate the wrong dishes while I was there since I didn't leave impressed at all.
