As noted by several guests and the marketing for Casa Amate, Casa Amate is one of the top 120 restaurants by Guia Mexico Gastronomic. For gastronomic eaters, Casa Amate will satisfy your palate. Casa Amate's menu and ambiance are eclectic. Being in Mexico, I had to try Casa Amate's version of the ceviche, which was the Kampachi Ceviche in Leche de Tigre Cream and Rocoto. Most ceviches are marinated in the same ingredients: lime, tomatoes, jalapeños, red onions, and cilantro. Casa Amate's ceviche was unlike anything I've ever had. Instead of the usual ingredients, the Kampachi Ceviche used roasted corn kennels, sweet potato slices, cornnuts (canchita) and was served on a pool of rocoto chile cream for the eater to mix as desired. For the main course, I ordered the Pampa y Costa, which was oyster and wagyu with chimichurri sauce, served in a large oyster shell. The oysters were the star of the show, while the wagyu and chimichurri sauce didn't really add much to the dish itself. Both the quality and taste of food exceeded my expectations, but the portion was small though. My family of 4 (14&12 y/o) shared a complimentary bread and dip, 6 entrees and a dessert. I highly recommended the oyster with wagyu beef for sharing as an appetizer. It was my favorite dish of the night. I also liked the chicken and duck breast. The shrimp was my least favorite because the sauce was thick and cheesy, but this is just my personal preference. Overall, our family enjoyed the fine dining experience at Casa Amate. read more

I didn't take any photos of my meal and should have. The restaurant is very upscale and deserves great rating. Really enjoyed their food which is probably why I didn't take any pictures. We met up with some friends and had drinks and seafood for dinner. The nice thing about coming to these classy places at the resort in Mexico is that you can wear just about anything and get away with it. If I had a dinner jacket, I would have worn it. I wore a very nice pair of shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Service was incredible as they were very knowledgeable about their dinner menu and could explain it if I had any questions. There is no question, this should be your top five dining experiences while in the resort. read more

Very good restaurant in Andaz Hotel Mayakoba. They're have a happy hour 5-6 PM, that I believe everyday 50% off for all drinks but not including drink over 400 Peso. We here for happy hour and dinner 2 times and we really like it. The foods is amazing I love seafoods soup and Mole. If you come here you should order that. That service is nice here and very friendly. I recommend you to reserve before you come in and try to do happy hour in beautiful bar area and enjoy dinner after with a nice view. read more

Really interesting and delicious dishes from across Latin America. We got the pork belly and fish salad dishes as appetizer, and then got the oyster with wagyu and duck breast with mole as our mains. Everything was so yummy and fresh. I especially loved how crispy the pork belly is, and how cohesive the duck breast dish was. We also got some cocktails, which were very refreshing. The duck mole is a must...best mole I've had! The combination of poached pear and jicama with the mole (made with almonds along with traditional spices) and the tender cooked duck...WOW! The desserts were delicious; we ordered the abuelita and chocotorta. The table setting was very beautiful curated...loved the telas and the glassware. Eh. First point is that it's described as "Mexican Food", but I would describe this more as Latin food. Second point, is that food was massively over-salted. The soup, the octopus, and the Lamb. The crustacean soup included inedible crustaceans (e.g. soft shell crab with shell. The fish was over cooked. And finally the cocktails were excessively strong (a little strong is ok, this was excessive). The entire experience was outstanding. We had reservations to eat on the beach but due to rain we were unable. They accommodated us at Casa Amate and it was a fabulous experience. My husband and I tend to be very picky and we loved every dish. Our waiter Estephan was wonderful. We had pork belly and also ceviche for appetizers. This restaurant is located on the andaz property at Mayakoba, and I was so impressed with the decor in all the different room didn't realize how big with restaurant was at first. To start let me say the bread basket yes! It was incredible the cheese bread was amazing and the brioche roll wow everything is incredible, and it come with 3 amazing dipping sauces. The service was incredible at this place I was so impressed with all the dishes so much my stomach was smaller than my eyes lol. My favorite dish would have to be the red snapper steamed in a banana leaf this is the dish everyone has to try incredible. My husband had the seafood bisque, and it didn't disappoint it tasted so fresh, and full of flavor. Everything was delicious here a place I would go back for sure. read more

Eaten here multiple times during our stay at Mayakoba resort complex. Inarguably the best fine dining in the area. Focused on fine dining, latin cuisine. They have daily happy hours (5pm-6pm) - not to be missed! The mixologist, Danielle, makes amazing cocktails and has a great knowledge of mezcals. He will be happy to go off the books for a custom experience. They also hold cigar rolling/educational lessons over there if you are interested. Also, Sunday brunch at Casa Amate looks pretty impressive (did not partake) and fairly traditional. Comfortable setup, impeccable service, delicious food and great drinks. Best Restaurant in Cancun hands down. Ambiance is amazing as the restaurant is designed to look like the home of a famous and passionate traveler who was so much into the Latin culture and culinary. So you can be dining in any part of the house whether it be the dining room, library, living room, etc. The Bar is very cool and feels exclusive yet comfortable. Craft cocktails were thoughtfully created. We went for happy hour twice and both times were very happy. We had dinner once and we wanted to order everything on the menu as they all look great. We settled for a few items and they were all delicious. The presentation of the food was elegant and artistic. The Chef came out and greeted us. Casa Amate is the flagship restaurant of the recently opened Andaz Mayakoba resort in the Riviera Maya just 15 minutes north of Playa del Carmen. The structure of the building is meant to evoke a casa, or house, in the literal sense. For example, when you walk in, there is a coat hook to your right and a library/sitting room to your left. But marketing aside, do not think of this dwelling as some sort of down home, folksy, type of place. This "house" is more akin to something photographed in Architectural Digest, or a place that a tech entrepreneur might own. Still a ways away from a Versailles, Mar-a-Lago, or The Breakers, but very spacious and nicely appointed nonetheless. The bar area is particularly impressive, with a myriad of potent potables and fresh ingredients to concoct any libation or tincture that Willy Wonka could dream of. I had a mezcal drink with banana, lime, and pineapple juices, which felt properly made and more powerful than many of the drinks that I had in the beach bars of Playa del Carmen. The food is creative, educational, and delicious. The menu consists of a variety of dishes from different parts of Latin and South America. I particularly enjoyed the Ecuadorian fried veal sweetbreads appetizer. I could already tell that its crispy texture would be a delightful sensation, as the sound of the cow's lymphatic organ acquiescing to the pressure of my utensils was a warm and inviting tone. The flavor was very rich, rendering the chicken stock sauce almost unnecessary. I felt very guilty eating it, first because it's veal but also because it was so good that I doubted my worthiness to enjoy such a creation. The pork belly was also very tasty and tender, though if I had any nits to pick I would have liked it to have been a bit crispier and "cracklier", with a heavier hand on the garlic. The service was top notch. Walter was quite knowledgeable about the menu and was always there when needed. Overall, Casa Amate is a treasure of a restaurant that should do robust business in the near future. Though it is quite a bit far from the city center, and even a bit of a trek from the three other resorts within the Mayakoba complex, it is definitely worth the journey. read more

My wife and I were seeking the best food and experience for the final night of our stay in Playa - Casa Amate exceeded all of our expectations. The atmosphere is like no other place I've ever been with several dining areas each with their own vibe and decor to mimic a different room of a house. We started with signature cocktails on the courtyard that were perfectly mixed. The staff let us enjoy our pre-dinner drinks with absolute patience while we enjoyed a quiet gaze over the lagoon. We were seated in "the living room" settling into a comfortable 2-top with gorgeous Spode dinnerware. Our waiter spoke perfect English with a soft and comforting tone welcoming us with his recommendations and suggestions of portions based on our appetite. The wine list impressed me as I immediately gravitated to a bottle of Gran Cru' Chablis. We chose civeche as a starter that was likely the best I have ever tasted. The fish was fresh, the ratio of lime juice impeccable, and the plantains were an awesome variation to the norm. We chose to share a yellow fin tuna salad as our second course that was both delicious and eclectic combining grilled avocado and smoked ginger - Yummy! My wife and I both decided on local fish of the day options for the main course. Her sea bass was simply grilled and my snapper was delicately seasoned with mole and topped with grilled peppers, onions, and pineapple. We were both in heaven. The night ended with a phenomenal flan and the waiter paid special attention to my desire for some chocolate and added a scoop of homemade chocolate ice cream on the side. We brought our bottle of wine back outside with us to the courtyard to enjoy a little more of paradise before we departed. Fantastic experience. Was not what we expected as the Andaz caters more to a younger more wild crowd. We stayed at the Fairmont Mayakoba but went to the Andaz to have dinner. It was Saturday evening but Casa Amate was not packed and we were seated right away. Our waiter was knowledgeable and we tried dishes we would not normally have tried if not for his recommendation and we were very impressed. The restaurant is beautiful and unique since it is set up like a home. However, the food was seriously lacking in flavor. We were so dissapointed because we heard great things from fellow hotel guests. We ordered the empanadas, octopus, beef stew and Cuban soup. The empanadas were OK, but the rest of the meal fell flat. The dishes were presented well and the proteins were cooked to perfection, however the only flavor present was salt. We were expecting much more robust flavors as the menu described. I would recommend visiting any of the other restaurants on Andaz property as we enjoyed the food and flavor much more. read more

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Casa Amate on Thanksgiving this year. It was INCREDIBLE. The food was spectacular. The ambiance was perfect. And the service was impeccable. These people know what they're doing. Francisco - the host - couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. When I asked if they had chocolate chip cookies, he told me they didn't. We were staying at Fairmont and ate at Casa Amate on the recommendation of some friends who just ate there. We were taken tot he restaurant by golf cart and everyone was extremely nice. We are early so there weren't a lot of people there but we had great views of the valley. They sat us in the library room and we had a nice glass of white wine followed by red for dinner. Ricardo was our waiter and was very helpful with dinner and suggestions. We ordered the octopus starter which was delightfully and the duck and hogfish. Both the duck and hogfish were amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly and it was the best dinner we had had in Mayakoba. Chef Ernesto came out to greet us and even prepared a special family desert his grandmother used to make for him, for our wedding anniversary.
