Food and service was great! Pretty expensive but the food was good! My sister and I did the shareable meal. It came with 3 different cuts of steak, 2 sausages, veggies, salad, and 2 empanadas. The presentation was beautiful. The reason we chose that is because we walked past a table that had ordered it and we were both in awe. When we sat down, we sat closest to the street, and our food looked so enticing at least 3 other groups stopped after seeing our food, then decided to eat at El Diez! All three steaks were great! Well seasoned with a perfect hint of salt. We chose the sausage cheese and the corn cheese empanadas, both were delicious. We ordered Burrata for appetizer which was great. For our meal we both got Milanesas with salad & fries. The milanesas unfortunately were not the best. The breading tasted like they had been pre prepped & then fried later. Not sure if that was the case but they definitely did not taste fresh. Milanesas should be prepped & fried on the spot or they just won't taste as fresh. That said, they weren't inedible, just not delicious. The ambiance was nice with low lighting on the patio where you could see the activity going on in 5ta Avenida. The location was very convenient, as our hotel was across the street at the Hilton. Service was good although they were busy trying to tend to a full house. We came back the next day for a grab n go lunch of empanadas & a green salad. Now this was so worth the second visit! Awesome place to grab some Argentinean food. Mam this place smells good as you come into it! Go to the rooftop bar located just after the spiral steps. I took Michele here for her birthday got some small bites and enjoyed the live music that was playing. The vibe is intimate, relaxed and just overall wonderful. Fun fact: This restaurant chain is named after Maradona, Argentinas most famous soccer star. I was convinced to step off our all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen for dinner one night at this Argentenian steak house. The Bife De Churasco was really really good. And for about $15 or so USD, I think this is a steal. Yes, 5th Ave in Playa Del Carmen is pricey for Mexico, but that same cut of meat in New York City would easily cost me double that. The service was fairly attentive, although they did take a long time to bring our check over. I would recommend this, for a slightly more upscale dinner in Playa Del Carmen. I have to thank my three year old for wanting spaghetti for lunch while on vacation in Playa. It was his turn to pick lunch and of course pizza it was! First of all "El Diez" awesome name... El Diez it's a Ten! Best Argentinian place in Riviera Maya. You can't go wrong with any plate. The milanesas are to share and they come with salad and a little bit of potato salad and lentils like all dishes. The arrachera porteñita even comes with fries too. The empanadad are to die for. Super big and with a lot of filling and flavor. The chorizo is not what I expect since it doesn't have the Argentinian flavor but it was ok (I don't have so many good chorizos in NYC). My husband is Argentine so we were pretty excited to try out El Diez while visiting Playa Del Carmen recently. The service was okay however the food left a lot to be desired. The empanadas were all right however they were too big and the meat was greasy. The Provoleta did not taste like provolone. The mollejas were good but they were served with lime instead of lemon which tasted a bit odd. Most of the steaks for our party were undercooked and my entraña was very fatty which I've never experienced before. By the next morning 5 out of our party of 9 had gastrointestinal issues (including myself). We will not be returning and I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

Excellent steak in Playa. I asked for rare and got medium rare but it was still delicious. The baked cheese was amazing. For the sides, I went with the salad which had a wonderful light dressing on it, lentils, and the best potato salad I've had in a while. We have been coming to Playa Del Carmen for the last 10 years. About seven years ago we stumbled upon this place and have been coming back annually ever since. It is just fantastic. Restaurant is much bigger now. Service has always been excellent. I would say half the time we have a reservation and others we just walk in. The wait is never more than a few minutes. The arrachera is fantastic, as are the pizzas. I have never ordered anything off the menu that hasn't been great. Right on 5th avenue, so tons of entertainment as well. I highly recommend visiting this place....soccer fan or not, it is well worth the visit. read more

We are locals and use to eat there every 10 days at least one and we also brings friends and customers. Food was good even if my New York stake was with a lot more fat than usual and smaller. But taste was great and cooked fine. Complains are about the service. We asked to have a meal "leaftover" to be taken away. It was put on a piece of aluminium paper and put in front of my friend. Explanation: we do not use poliester containers (fine with that) ... but what about the eco friendly ones ... I even pay the 5 pesos many restaurants ask if you want... but give me a break ... what type of cheap restaurant... after my complaint the waiter went and found out the new eco friendly containers were available... Second issue: waiter comes with an old amex card pretty badly maintined. I enter twice my code (correctly) but. the machine says code is wrong. Numeric buttons look dirty and probably have a contact. Third time it work and give accepted... amd the line is off also because the card machine battery is too low and is not working properly. Waiters disappear with the machine and he comes back with the manager explaining the first machine has no charges and the new one they want me to pay now has charges but none with my card number. Thanks Hod I have a good visual memory and ask to check the machine number one (where no charges were done) amd recognize a mark I have seem while I was trying to pay. Pay attention before paying with a credit card they bring you a charged battery to avoid accidents. read more

Such a fan. Love their presentation, wine (house Red) is great!! Only disappointment, they crucify their sweetbreads...so, if you love sweetbreads (usually it's a food that's either LOVED OR HATED) steer clear. Which is sad, as they aren't a common menu item...but I've given them 2 chances, and I've learned my lesson. Have a steak. Am still giving it 5 stars, I've eaten there multiple times, and everything else is delicious. Family friendly, but it's a higher priced dinner. Worth it though. I ate at El Diez last night. It is a good standby for the first night in Playa del Carmen. (I have eaten there several times before.) It is listed as Argentinian, and it is an Argentinian steakhouse, but it also has excellent salads, pizza, and burgers, all of which I have eaten in my several visits. Recently, it purchased what was a seafood restaurant next door. I asked the waiter about the quality of the seafood and he told me that it was all frozen. No thanks. Until last night, I did not realize that it was a chain in Mexico, but a small chain I think. Last night I had a chicken Cesar salad, a 1/2# cheeseburger, and two glasses of a nice pour of a house Argentinian red wine. This was less than $30 with tip. And I took half of the salad and half of the burger home for lunch. (I did not see chicken as being an ingredient on the menu. When I questioned it, he offered to take the chicken off the salad. I just wanted to make sure that he didn't upsell me without knowing it. As with most outdoor restaurants in Playa del Carmen, you need to tolerate cigarette smoke, the Mariachi bands looking for tips, and children selling flowers, etc. read more

Our overpriced pizza tasted like really cheap frozen pizza. For my first meal in Playa del Carmen this made my tummy and my taste buds sad. There is a sizable Argentinian population in the area so it seemed like this might be a tasty bet. I didn't quite connect the dots when the waiter said they had no more large pizzas but he more likely meant they were out of pre-made frozen ones. Our empanada wasn't much better. I think perhaps people who left five star reviews may have been inebriated. 5th Avenue is full of tourist trap restaurants where they gauge drunken/naive tourists and charge prices that would make the average Mexican citizen scream in outrage or laugh at the poor money habits of those dining in the area. Most people don't want to admit (even to themselves) that they got ripped off on vacation but buyer beware for anywhere on 5th because I regret spending my dining money here. For the price we paid we could have had around 7 marvelous tortas or roughly 20 tacos al pastor on any street without the illustrious "5" in the title. read more

I just had dinner at Diez. I'm not sure what all these 5 star reviews were based on, but here is my perspective. In the humblest taquerias in PDC I have received warm, attentive service. The sheer indifference and lack of personality at this restaurant bordered on contempt. Considering this was by far the most expensive meal I've had here the service issue is even more inappropriate. As for the food, I've had Argentinian fare in New York and Miami and there is no comparison. The steak was ok but the appalling sides were just plain funny. The thimble-full of lentils and equally small portion of potato salad made me think, why'd you bother? The salad was fine if you like bagged mixed greens but that's not what I was expecting at such a highly rated eatery. The shining star was the Margherita pizza which was very, very good indeed, and not just for PDC but anywhere. The house red was decent and reasonably priced, I suppose. In a desert island scenario I imagine I'd eat the food from Diez but given a choice I'd go elsewhere. read more
