We were gifted last minute tickets to the opening night of A Christmas Story - The Musical and didn't have time to eat dinner on the way. We figured we'd give Curtain Call Lounge a try since neither of us had been there before and it is right next to The Fox. We were nervous about the timing because the show was at 7:30pm and we didn't end up arriving to Curtain Call Lounge until about 6:30pm. However, we had no problems! They know they're on a deadline at this restaurant and the service was great and speedy. We decided to share an entree and get an appetizer to share. We went with the Brussels sprouts and were shocked by the serving size. They were delicious and we could've filled up on the Brussels sprouts alone! We shared some fries and the steak sandwich. It was delicious. Since we still had time, we went for dessert before the show. The peanut butter pie was to die for and we finished the whole slice! Everything was great. The restaurant is decorated in theme with The Fox and everything is glamorous and looks like you're in an old Hollywood film. We had a great experience here and will be back - hopefully with more time to linger before the show next time.

When we arrived after seeing a show at The Fox, we were quickly seated and our server came right over with water and menus. We were in no hurry to order and Deon, our server, never pressured us to hurry up, which we appreciated. He gave honest feedback on food questions we had and was very funny with the comebacks. The decor was a continuation of the decor in The Fox, very beautiful and festive. We got the goat cheese appetizer, the filet, the apple salad with grilled chicken and a smash burger....all very delicious! If you are in town to see a Broadway Show, go here before or afterwards. You won't be disappointed.

Well aren't you just a pleasant and super convenient surprise inside the Fox! Byzantine-inspired, Curtain Call Lounge was the first champagne bar in St. Louis. It had an extensive list of champagne and bubbly. What we got. Goat cheese dip - who else is sold on gooey things served in a cast iron skillet? gooey and perfect! Summer Strawberry Goat Cheese Salad - was huge and refreshing! We had to get the Ahi Tuna Salad. It was amazing too. I loved the sauce this came with. If fries is on the menu, they will be ordered. It's the law. Freshly fried and crispy! If you're headed to a Fox Show, here is a good spot to try. It's bustling around show times! Show memorabilia everywhere gives it a nice touch. Try it out!

I decided to eat here before the MJ musical. I didn't have a reservation but luckily I could sit at the bar. I was ecstatic to see they have two short bars stools for people like me who don't like tall chairs! Chris, the bartender, greeted me with water. He was amazing the entire time I sat there! He acknowledged people as they walked up and let them know how many people are in front of them! He is great! My Caesar salad was beautifully presented and tasted really good! The chicken was good. The dressing was good. I enjoyed it very much! My drink was also delicious!

This is such a fun place to bring people when going to see a show at the Fox! They are only open around showtimes, so it doesn't look like their hours are listed correctly. The menu is very simple and scaled back. They don't have a ton of options because the food comes out very quickly. There is something on the menu for everyone. I've tried a bunch of their items and have never been disappointed. They do a really good job of getting everyone out of the restaurant before Showtime so you won't miss the start of the show. Another one of my favorite things about this place is that they have specialty cocktails that are in conjunction with the show that is currently at the Fox. This is a super unique way to incorporate what's showing! I will say the service sometimes can be a little slow because they are busy. I've had some times where are drinks come out after our food. And sometimes it seems like the waiters don't check on you enough. However, I still have not had a bad experience here. Everyone I bring always loves it! The decor on the walls and ceilings is very fun and vibrant! And it's just a fun atmosphere.

Stopped in for a quick appetizer before the show. Service was good and so was the food. They were pretty busy and the restaurant appeared clean. Very convenient before the show.

The building itself is nice. Decor is theatre themed and staff was very nice! Our server was sweet and helpful. The food itself was decent. The fries were dry but the sandwich was good! The salad was delicious and the caesar dressing was wonderful. Prices were pretty high. Service was a bit slow but they were pretty busy at the time. Overall, it was good

Do yourself a favor and get the shrimp risotto balls!! But of a crowded bar. Seats were touching our neighbors seats but didn't mind. Really friendly staff! Miranda was a doll and made some good food and drink recommendations. Will definitely be back!

We were trying to have dinner on a Friday night before going to the Fox and kept striking out with the places close being too full or taking too long. Just out of desperation, we tried the Curtain Call Lounge and it was such a great experience. First person we saw was a wonderful lady named Andrea and she said they didn't have a table, but we could sit on the end of the sitting area by the bar, use a cocktail table for our food and order form the bar if we wanted to. Menu is limited which is refreshing sometimes. We both ordered a Wagyu burger and fries and in no time the food was there and wow was it delicious! Double smash burger, melty cheese and bacon jam with seasoned fries. So good! We went from panicking we would be late for the show to relaxing and a great meal! Chris at the bar was polite and helpful, even with a packed house and Andrea checked in on us and was so super nice! I want to take my husband there sometime when we're not going to the theater just to have another burger!

Super convenient to grab a bite prior to performance at the Fox. They don't take reservations, so plan early arrival. Even though they had a full house, we received great service from Jennifer. Limited menu, but sufficient for a quick bite before the theatre. Shared some spinach artichoke dip and a pizzet. Both tasty. Since it is connected with the Fox, you can carry your drinks in to the show. Be prepared with ID and proof of vaccination or current negative test to be admitted to restaurant as well as the theatre.

This is a really great place to start your evening to The Fox. Located directly next door, this space is elegantly decorated and gives you the feel of being inside the Fox. They offer a full menu and full bar. It's apparent they employ professionally trained bartenders as my drink was spot on. I didn't order food on this visit, but what I saw coming from the kitchen looked to be very good and I'll definitely make it a point to try is in the future. This place stays open for awhile after the show ends, so feel free to have an after show cocktail.

'ssippi is a new(ish) wine bar set towards the western end of the collection of bars, restaurants, and shops that are the heart of the strip. The inside has a large wrap about bar and some limited seating. There is a very good selection of wine and mixed drinks and an okay selection of beer. The prices are reasonable. There is a very limited food menu which largely consists of snacks rather than proper entrees. So this is a great pre/post drink spot rather than somewhere you would spend an evening. The bartenders were fine. Nothing stood out either in a good or bad way. The mixed drink my wife had was very good. The orange wine I had was good, a bit on the dry side but overall no complaints from either of us. Without a highlight of the spot is the large patio. It is mostly taken up by large bench style seating. So you have to be okay sitting next to strangers. I actually enjoy these types of settings and I ended up chatting up the group to our right. There are a couple tables but they are few and far between. There are some overhead canopies and lights, and there was a nice vibe and energy. I was there and it was crowded. I really enjoyed it. Just two additional things to note. The bathroom line was very long. It must only be one stall. The entire time I was there it was a dozen people deep. The only other downside is that my wife and I felt old. The vibe on a late(ish) Saturday night was mainly 20 year olds. If I was in grad school or a recent graduate I would absolutely adore this place. Even if your 30s this probably is a good vibe. Once you hit 40 though you may feel a bit out of place on busy nights (or it will make you feel young again!)

Versatile, knows…read morehow to treat yo' self, equally at home in yoga pants, ready for a backwoods adventure or dressed to the nines, and doesn't blink at any version of you that walks through the door. That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

There were a few open tables, but we were asked to wait by the door while they "got situated." Meanwhile, a walk-in who arrived after us was seated at a table we had been waiting for. When we were finally seated, we were placed in direct sun. I asked if we could move to a shaded table in the corner and was told it was only for parties of three. After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially on nice days, but a little more consideration and courtesy would have gone a long way.

I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

Food was middle of the road. A smoked sirloin sandwich was tasty, though rather well-done. And the order of "salmon cakes", which the menu says is made of "smoked salmon, roast corn, tomato, cucumber, creme fraiche, and capers" was in fact just one cake (not cakes!), smaller than a hockey puck (about 1/2" thick max) and seemed to be made of canned fish, not the bright orange of smoked salmon.
