    Burrito

First off, it was packed! There were people hanging out of the place to try it. I took that as a good sign. The service was kind of slow but I think that's because they had a million in restaurant and online orders at the same time so again, I'd take that as a good sign. I had the Burrito and it was very good. I also tasted my friend's pizza and it too was good. We're planning on going back soon to try other items on the menu. The aesthetic is cool. It has that west coast vibe going on which is great to see in Birmingham. If you go, be sure to have plenty of time allotted since it's very popular.

Wow. Incredible. Delicious. The presentation. The portion. The service. I'll be back to try everything on the menu.

Ok if you know me, you know I love Taj India down. My family has been coming to this family owned…read moreand operated spot for all 30+ years. The lunch buffet might be my death row meal. It's a deal. And the food itself, you can eat a lot of without feeling gross and nasty like with other, greasier foods. The staff is on top of it. They bring you water and naan to your table, keep tabs on you, and always have a smile. Especially Fatima :). I've tried replicating a dal at my house, and I can't do it. I don't have the touch. But lentil dal here, the saag (spinach) paneer, and the yellow veggies they always have at the buffet (I think it's korma) are my favorites. I came last night for their Birmingham Restaurant Week deal, which was $14 for a full meal: appetizer, entree, and dessert! The appetizers for the full dinner meals come out like sizzling fajitas, my favorite of the meats we had was the lamb. My mom's entree came with a smiley face :). The place itself is pretty casual, with Indian decor and always a little incense burning by the door. They have a full bar, beer, and wine, but my mom swears that diet coke was made to be paired with Indian food. Taj India is a must try in Birmingham, and the buffet is the perfect place to explore Indian food!

That's a sweet little treat at the end. 10 out of 10. Came here for dinner had a wonderful time was not rushed with the food. They were excellent with providing refills of drinks without being asked. We were actually one of the first ones in the door for Dinner service. I will be returning and I'm looking forward to my next trip. The owners are very pleasant and friendly. The staff constantly wanted to know how our meal was.

I've…read morealways enjoyed Indian cuisine, so when I was deciding what to eat for lunch, I decided to give Sitar a try. Their Uber Eats page is well-formatted, with all menu items listed, accompanied by descriptions and pictures of most items. My only issue with their menu on the app is that the descriptions were not very clear about whether an item came with rice or if it had to be ordered on the side. My order arrived quickly and came in a large brown paper bag. I chose the butter chicken, and it came with basmati rice. They were packaged separately, with the chicken and sauce in a large plastic container and the white rice in a small styrofoam box. I like that they separated the two to let the customer have control over the chicken-to-rice ratio. Plastic cutlery was provided as well. My food was still hot when it arrived and was full of flavor. It tasted like a very good homemade meal instead of something made with low-quality ingredients and little effort put into it. The sauce on the chicken was very creamy and absolutely delicious! The serving size left me plenty of leftovers, and I was very satisfied.

Sometimes I'll call ahead and just pick up my food, which makes it really easy between classes or a busy schedule. The restaurant itself has a casual atmosphere, which I enjoy because it feels relaxed and welcoming. The service has always been great whenever I go. The staff is friendly and the food usually comes out very quickly, whether I'm dining in or picking it up. My go to order is the chicken korma with butter naan, and it is honestly one of my favorite meals. The chicken korma is creamy, flavorful, and pairs perfectly with the naan. They also give a very generous portion of rice, which I always appreciate because it makes the meal even more filling! The only small downside is that parking can sometimes be difficult, but I usually end up finding street parking nearby. I recommend this spot for a warm, comfort meal!

I especially loved the cherry blossom tree in the middle of the restaurant, complete with a mock phone booth. It gives the space a unique charm. We received excellent service from Samaja. She helped me choose a curry based on my love for rich, creamy dishes. I took her recommendation and ordered the Nawabi Masala, a hearty curry prepared with cashews and a rich gravy. I requested a mild to medium spice level and added chicken. My son ordered the Nellore Fish Curry, a spicy coastal dish made with fresh fish in the traditional Nellore style, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Apparently my definition of "mild to medium" and the kitchen's definition were a little different. My son was perfectly happy with his spice level, while I was over there trying to convince everyone I was handling mine just fine. Samaja and another gentleman both came over to check on me. I don't know if there was steam rising from my head or what! Even though it was spicier than I had hoped, it was absolutely delicious. Samaja kindly brought me a creamy yogurt mixture to help tame the heat, and it made a huge difference. She also surprised us with a small serving of a sweet, lemon flavored pudding that she said would help cool my palate, along with a chilled bottle of water. Her attentiveness and genuine desire to make sure I enjoyed my meal were exceptional and very much appreciated. The only suggestion I would make is to enhance the drink selection a bit. This is the only reason for giving a 4 star review rather than a 5. Otherwise, this is an outstanding place for authentic, flavorful Indian cuisine with wonderful service. We'll definitely be back!

My favorite appetizers are the Chicken 65 and the Vegetarian Samosas. The Chicken 65 consists of bite-sized pieces of chicken breast that are fried and then tossed in a spicy sauce. It's served with chopped red onion and a cilantro garnish, making it perfect for sharing at the table. The Vegetarian Samosas are deep-fried pastries filled with green peas, potatoes, and Indian spices, with a noticeable curry flavor. They're served with a brown, tamarind-based dipping sauce that pairs perfectly with the filling. One entrée we love sharing is the dosa. A dosa is a lightly fried crepe, and there are about a dozen variations, each with different fillings and spice combinations. The dosas are served with several sides for dipping or eating with pieces of the crepe. The Tandoori Chicken Tikka Kebab is another favorite. The chicken is marinated, baked in a clay oven, and brought out steaming hot on a sizzling platter. In addition to the dishes mentioned, Bawarchi offers many other classic Indian favorites. One word of warning: if you order spicy, they mean it--the heat level can definitely light you up!

Also, I will forever love them for their uncanny ability to ensure the best wrapped to-go food. It arrives hot each time and has no spillage. It does not matter what I order, it comes well packaged. I think when they first opened, the prices were a bit shocking compared to other South Asian establishments, but their portions are generous, and the care they put into packaging and temperature control makes it worth it to me. This time, I ordered the Garlic naan and the cheese garlic naan. One of the best naans I have had here locally. It was still hot and fresh, cooked just right and full of flavor. I also had the Saag Paneer, which I usually get regardless of whether I get something else. It was piping hot and still the same great quality each time I have ordered it. This time, I had the chicken Korma Curry with it, and it was delicious, per usual. The meat proteins are always so tender and perfectly cooked. Yes, I had to get my staple Samosa Chaat. It is probably one of my favorite comfort dishes. The only disappointment this time was that they did not have a mango lassi. I just wanted mango, but they had a sweet lassi that was delicious, so I was satisfied. All in all, I adore this restaurant, and they have the nicest family, and their daughter is beyond kind and supportive of her family's restaurant.
