Came in for the first time last night to try this place out for dinner and I can say that's a very positive addition to the variety of places we have in Tuscaloosa. I was especially happy to see South Indian dishes on the menu, including Dosas, though no Thali plate (which would have made me over the moon happy). A note if you're dining in: as of Thursday December 9th, 2024, they are not serving alcohol yet. Hopefully that changes soon. The good: The mutton curry is absolutely fantastic. Like: 10/10 mutton curry. The sauce is perfectly seasoned, the mutton was tender, everything was so lovely and it was my favorite thing. The garlic naan is very good and very crispy. If you like your naan more on the doughy side, this is the opposite, but really good. The not-so-good: Appetizers are essentially the same price as entrees (like $3 difference), so choose well. I would say go with curries and be happy in your life. I wanted to try the Chili Paneer and the Paneer was quite nice, but the chili was not fresh and the sauce tasted very much like it came out of a bottle. Also, the Lamb Chops came with a great green sauce and spiced rice, both excellent, but the chops themselves seemed like they had either been marinated or cooked to death. They were dry as the Gobi desert and almost flaking off the bone (not in a good way). I would steer clear. Finally, the service was not super great. There weren't many people in the restaurant and the three front-of-house people were just at the door talking to each other. My water was never refilled and this seemed true for a few other people I talked to in the restaurant. If you're dining in, you might have to flag people down to get anything more than your order in and your check. It's also, as a note, somewhat expensive. Good, but two entrees, a single appetizer and naan with tip was $90, which feels a bit steep. Still, the mutton curry was so good I will definitely go again (maybe take-out?) and try other curries. read more

This is by far one of the best Indian Grill's I've been to. The moment you walk in the door, the smell of the food makes your mouth start watering. Then the sizzle of the Tandoori has you craving meat! The servers are phenomenal, and we have been back twice now. The Guntur shrimp was the best shrimp I've ever eaten. The butter chicken, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, fish curry, and the mixed grill tandoori were amazing. You DEFINITELY should try this place! read more

I was immediately greeted when I walked in and we chatted while I was placing my to-go order. I had the Mysore Masala Dosa and an order of Samosas. Everything was DELICIOUS! The South Indian dosa had such great flavor and the heat I expected, enjoyed with both chutneys provided.....yummmm! The samosas were the perfect appetizer size (3 to an order) and really nice flavor! Of course as I usually do I mixed both chutneys together and placed on the samosa...man was I happy! Next time I am in town, definitely plan to visit again...and HIGHLY recommend checking them out! read more

The service was abysmal. Our waitress showed up 4 times, once to greet us (did not take drink orders), again to take our orders (including drinks this time), once only after one of our party flagged the waitress down where she refilled our waters (which had all been empty for at least 5 minutes), and finally to pay, where she took a facetime call in the middle of us paying. The food was very bland. Even though I ordered at a mild spice level, every other Indian restaurant I have been to have had flavor complexities other than spice. I could not finish my food it was so unappetizing. My party members ordered other items at medium spice levels and came to the same conclusion. The only "flavor" was the inherent taste of ingredients (lentils in Dal Tadka) or spice. Two of us who ordered butter chicken (one mild one medium) tasted each others order and found them to the same level of spice. The place was dead, and for good reason, the food is overpriced and service awful. There are far better options in Tuscaloosa for Indian food with much better service and much better tasting food (for lower prices). read more

Speakers at the front door setting the mood. Spices waft in the air. Open. The door to the sound a and smells of ANY Indian kitchen. This is the new The curry kitchen in t-town. First let me say I am a first generation Indian American, walking the line between two cultures. So honest review. Friendly family atmosphere. Nice fresh decor, open concept. Server was kind but not experienced. Never printed bill to give us. Then forgot our dessert. Waited 10 min before asking again. She got distracted and had to be re I need as we stood by the door. Then came out and said she didn't charge us. I left it. After ordering 4 entries for two people having to wait 15 min after paying bill, was not a great end to meal. Also while I stood in the door area- 5 people walked by me not asking how they can help. Food: was tasty. We will go back. The onion kulcha had too much cardamom. Jeera rice a little greasy. Garlic tikka was good flavor but no real tikka char. Butter chicken and ginger chicken on point. So will try again. Likely to go with service. read more

The waiter recommended lamb chop Korma and it was delicious. Everything looks so good! I will be back again soon.

I went here because the photos looked good. I was a bit skeptical at first because it's sometimes difficult to be authentic. This is the real deal. They have standard items, but a lot of things not commonly found (e.g., dosas). Lots of great flavor, good portions, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Be sure to let them know your spice tolerance because if you ask for spicy you're getting it. read more

The food is amazing! So flavorful and many many different options, depending upon what you are looking for. The servers are friendly and patient (especially with some of our pronunciations) and knowledgeable about the dishes. The place is clean and has plenty of space where you don't feel like you're sitting on top of someone else's table. Definitely will be back again and again! read more

I'm a snob when it comes to Indian food. Being from Seattle where the Indian food is top notch, I'm not easy to please. This place rocks! Absolutely delicious food, nice atmosphere and polite staff. I highly recommend eating here. read more

This place has some serious issues. The dosas are good but much of the other offerings are extremely uneven. The menu doesn't really describe the curries very well. The language barrier prevents good communication about the food. For example, there was no indication that when I ordered the lamb saag would be full of bones (it was mostly bones.) The service is also pretty bad. I can tell they're working with a skeleton staff but they need at least one more waiter. It's a pretty new place and I think some of these 5 star reviews are fake. read more

The food came out fast and was delicious. Definitely on the spicy side, even the mild option. The space was pleasant.

The food is amazing! I'm Indian and picky, and the food has been really good all four times I've been to Curry Kitchen. Have tried lots of different dishes, and everything's been excellent. We especially loved the salmon curry. Our waiter, Raj, went above and beyond making sure our group celebrating a bday had a great time. We'll be back! read more

I explored their lunch buffet. Expectedly, it was as excellent as their menu items. At USD18.99/pax, you get all-you-can-eat butter chicken, tandoori chicken, freshly made naan, biryani rice (veggie or goat), fresh fruits, etc. Highly recommended. read more

Incredible flavor and presentation! Service was outstanding, planning on coming back as often as I can.

The best Indian food I have ever eaten - and I am from NYC, and also have been all over India. The curries are full flavored and practically addictive. If you have never had a dosa (a Southern Indian crispy crepe with a choice of stuffing or plain) before, try it...you'll be amazed. The staff are very knowledgeable and happy to make sure that you are satisfied. This place is a little pricey, but worth it over other area choices (which are decent, but a step down in quality and hospitality). Do yourself a favor and go! Check for their happy hour pricing too. read more

The food was delicious, will definitely be back and I recommend this eatery to anyone, take time to dine in

Food was basic ok flavor but far below expectations with indian cuisine.... Walked in... The front desk guy in jeans and a t shirt... My waiter literally looked like he just rolled out of bed. Tandoori chicken ended up being about 20 dollars for such a pathetically prepared dish no portion... MAYBE 6 ounces of actual chicken. Restaurant is a good looking joint cant knock that. read more

Remarkably flavorful Indian food in Tuscaloosa! The place is an old O'Charley's, which is a bit odd, but it is clean and the service is helpful and respectful. Do yourself a favor and order a dosa with your meal too! Highly recommend this as an exceptional option for a dinner out! read more

Authentic Indian food (and I've been to India multiple times for business), very extensive menu, waiter was attentive. I'll go back.

I've been way too many times because it's so good! Food is absolutely delicious, service is great and it's the best Indian in T-Town!

Great if you like Indian food, not a fan of curry myself but I went with my daughter and wife. They loved it and the service was great.

I cannot believe there is Indian food of this quality in Tuscaloosa! As a New Yorker who is used to authenticity, I am really impressed. The flavors in every dish are rich, robust, and fully developed. You can tell that they are made with freshly ground spices, seeds, and leaves. They make the lightest Naan I can ever remember having anywhere, really thick creamy Raita, and a mango Lassi that is slightly fermented as it should be. The place is really clean and attractive, and the staff are adorably friendly and helpful. Do not miss the best Indian food in West Alabama! read more
