This restaurant was a nice surprise in a strip mall outside of Houston. I ordered the Palak Paneer and veggie samosas with garlic naan. It was so much food that I saved some for the next door. I ordered mild because I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spice, but the spice was perfect and still very flavorable. The staff were very nice and remarkable prices for a small restaurant. I will definitely return, if I'm back in this area for business. It was well worth it!! read more

Rude staff. Walked in and walked right out. Never have I been yelled at for asking if a restaurant had a menu. Goodbye. I was the only person there, maybe they felt they were on break. Not an excuse to be RUDE to potential paying customers. Do they have good food? Who cares, it is a toxic, abrasive experience and I hope they go out of business. read more

My first time to have Indian food and really enjoyed it. Not knowing what to expect, I relied on Russell for my meal. He asked if I like spicy foods and type of meat/vegetables. I have the garlic naan bread and used that to eat my main course. The chicken tikka masala had a totally different taste when it was paired w/ the garlic naan vs a fork used to eat it. The vegetable samosas was a great way to start. I will be back. read more

Horrible customer service, walked in was told by front desk waiter I don't sit people, sit were you want. Waited 15 minutes for anyone to notice us. When we finally got a waiter he didn't take the drink order until we asked him, he returned with two obviously flat sodas. Told him they were flat and he looked at me with a blank stare. Not sure how else to say it. Told him the carbonation was out. He just took the drinks and walked off. I'm not taking any chances so I left. Not sure how a business can run like this. Won't be back. read more

I went in a minute before closing because i had the wrong hours and was totally fine with walking out and coming a different day but Russell the owner insisted that I order my food and that it was no problem. He whipped up my food in under 20 min by himself (they are understaffed) and it was delicious! Customer service was great. In times like this it is very important that we support local business! Highly recommend. The lemonade was so good and refreshing and the samosas were perfect!! read more

I was very pleased with this place. My wife and I visited the Curry Sultan for lunch. The place was busy and many folks enjoying the different tastes of India. Walking into this place you immediately see how clean it is - that is a huge point for me. The food was tasty and we will be back. read more

Went here with a friend for lunch and was amazed at the food! I got the chicken tikka masala and it was AMAZINGGGG I will be back for sure. And I saw that they deliver! read more

The food was amazing! I enjoyed the samosas & the butter chicken , it was so good that i came back the next day!!

Service was poor and the food was bland. Indian food is known for flavor and spice, this place really let us down. After receiving our food the waitress never came to check in. Somehow our CTM was dry and really quite flavorless, seemed as though the sauce was mostly just canned tomato. We also ordered garlic naan, it was freshly prepared but lacked salt and butter. The bathrooms were also quite dirty. Total bummer. read more

Absolutely amazing. What a delightful meal! Everything came out quickly and tasted wonderful. Can't wait to eat here again.

For our son-in-law's birthday, we ordered a wide variety of dishes - Veg Samosas, Beef Samosas,Veg-Pakora, Bhelpuri,Butter Chicken,Chicken Tandoori, Chicken Korma,Beef Kofta,Tikka Masala - Chicken, Garlic Naan, Vindaloo, Malai Kofta, Chefs Basmati Rice, Jaihengiri Pilaf. We tried several new dishes - and loved all of them! Ample portions - and appreciate their special preparation of rice without cloves for me! read more

Drove an hour to take my best friend there today for an early dinner and it was every bit worth the drive. My Vindaloo and cocnut rice was on point! That lemonade has captured my soul I need this every day!! Wish you were close to my side of town but no worries I will make it out there to feast! Keep up the amazingness! read more

Ordered twice for lunch on DoorDash for pickup. The food is ok, but here's why I only gave 2 stars: my treatment as a customer by (what I'm assuming was) the owner. I felt scolded that I ordered through DoorDash, that it costs him too many fees and next time I should be calling in directly. I understand the predicament but if you don't like it, why sign up with DoorDash? I felt scolded like a school child and that makes me reluctant to order to go again. read more

The food here is delicious! The lemon rice...wow! If I were to give one negative remark it would be the time it took to get my food was way too long. Thankfully, I was having girl's night, so we talked it up most of the 40 minutes it took to get our plates. Also, I wish they offered their yummy sauces. I had to ask for them and that too took another 10 minutes to get. The owner is attentive and friendly. I can't wait to go back. read more

My wife and I arrived on a Sunday night. Chef Russ eagerly greeted us at the door and, after seating us, explained about the restaurant and its cuisine, and how it is prepared (fresh, and made to order!). We were starving and began ordering: Bhelpuri to start with, Malai Kofta, Choley, and Garlic Naan. After taking our orders Russ recommended the Paalak Chaat as our appetizer. To be honest, we were skeptical when he described it as a fried spinach salad, but relied on his culinary expertise and ordered it as well. Whoa. The bhelpuri was outstanding. It was our first taste, and it was very good. The spicy and salty and nutty flavors burst in our mouths. Next was the palaak chaat, the fried spinach salad. It was AMAZING! You must order it. It was nothing like I was expecting- it was BETTER! Shortly after we began working on our appetizers the entree items arrived. We dove into those and knew there was no way we were going to finish everything. (We had plans to try his desserts, and wanted to save room.) The malai kofta was a dish I had never tried before. Both my wife and I agreed it was very good. The tomato gravy was obviously freshly made, and was perfectly spiced as we had asked. We both enjoy chickpeas and the choley did not disappoint. It, too, was piquant, and was complemented by the bed of basmati rice we had ladled the chickpeas over. The basmati rice, by the way, is complementary when ordered with many of the entree items; that is something I am not used to when eating at other Indian restaurants in NYC or LA or San Francisco. Good on you, Curry Sultan. The heat from the chilies was beginning to cause a localized monsoon on my brow so two mango lassis were promptly arranged for. For nearly all my life I have enjoyed these wonderful beverages to soothe the pleasurable pain that capsaicin can induce, and let me say, these were the best. Not too sweet, not too yogurt-y, and not too thick or thin. Just right. If I have one tiny little recommendation, it would be to chill the ingredients first. That said, I will be ordering them every time simply because they are that good. Chef Russ noticed that we were clearly not going to finish everything and opined that we should save the entree to take home and focus on the appetizers since they do not save well. That was sage advice, since the appetizers were lighter and we did want to indulge in the desserts. We could not agree on one to share so we opted for one each of the Gajar Halwa (with pistachios, yes!), and Kheer. Both were excellent, we shared a few bites, and then my wife took over the kheer while I worked on the halwa. Even after all that food and drink, our total bill was very reasonable. We walked- no, waddled- out of there having ate like a king and queen, with leftovers for lunch the next day, all the while knowing we would be back very soon. For those who appreciate gourmet Indian, prepared specifically for you, then this is your place. Curry Sultan would be a rave restaurant if it were downtown, and yet, we have it here in humble Atascocita. (which is fitting as we are so near Humble....) There will be those that yap (or is it Yelp?) about the ambiance or wall color or music or whatever, and those that decry the lack of a buffet. I come for the food, not the swag. Frankly, I hope that Curry Sultan never offers a buffet. The Chef prepares amazing food at fair prices. For the cost of a buffet, and in nearly the same time, you can have a meal prepared exactly to your liking. And Indian was meant to be shared anyway. Order a few items that you do not know how to pronounce and have never heard of, and share! You will never miss a buffet, and will be glad that your food did not come from a Sterno-heated trough that requires a "sneezeguard" be installed over. We are very lucky to have entrepreneurial risk-takers who opt to open a family-run Indian restaurant in a tough marketplace such as ours, and my prayer is that Curry Sultan will succeed many times over. His food is outstanding, and his energy and love for his craft is inspiring. Thanks, Russ. read more

The place is nice, seating is open, and the food is good. However, what made this a two star rating was the server whom I believe was also the owner. He made it difficult to enjoy the meal by constantly inserting himself into the conversation at the table. My boyfriend is allergic to nuts and I mentioned this to be sure it would be safe for him to eat a certain dish and the server went on a long rant about how peanut allergies weren't real and how if he bought a certain yogurt, he wouldn't have a peanut allergy. During this rant, we were clearly uncomfortable but he persisted. He was also pretty rude to a DoorDash worker who simply asked if they had silverware, telling the woman, "Trust me, they have forks at their house." Again, food was decent but not incredible and if your looking for a quiet meal then this is not the place. read more

This restaurant is a real gem in the Atascocita area. The food was fantastic and everyone was very nice and attentive. My favorites were the Tiki Masala, Tandoori Chicken and garlic naan. All cooked to order and you can determine the spice level. If you have not been I highly recommend it!!! read more

Wanted that Indian fix but don't want to go all the way to the other side of Houston. Come here in little big Humble and get your fix.

This is the best Indian food I've found since Moving to the Houston area! Charming interior, reasonable prices, attentive and friendly staff and the food... oh the food. They adjust the spice level to your taste. The rice is flavorful and light. The curry.. we've tried a few is creamy and rich and full of flavor. The naan, especially the Garlic Naan is amazing. Don't be scared off by the shopping center entrance, this place is a hidden gem! You won't be sorry you tried it! read more

Came in to try and support our local restaurants. Atascocita was in need of a good Indian joint. This delivers, the chef/owner was very welcoming. I had the Paneer Makhni, indian cheese in creamy cashew and tomatoes sauce. It's the best I have had, very good taste, and creamy. If you have never tried indian food, have a taste here for a good intro. Looking forward to coming back for the next visit. read more

Curry Sultan - Inside the restaurant, very cozy and the chef was very welcoming. - Indian Near Me - Humble, Texas

I was very excited to find out there is another Indian restaurant in Humble/northeast Houston area (besides Curry house). Chef Russell and his team makes everyone feel welcomed and comfortable as if you are sitting home enjoying homemade food. I haven't seen customer service like his in so long. The decor of the restaurant is nice as well and they keep a multicultural look in the ambiance. I came with my friend and we ordered the veg samosas and palak chaat for an appetizer. Both were delish and samosas were surprisingly not greasy! It was my first time trying palak chaat n omg so flavorful and addicting to eat! For the main course we had beef kofta, butter chicken (both entrees came w/bowl of rice), palak paneer (it was okay) and garlic Naan. Meat was tender and everything tasted so fresh! Spices were on point as requested and being American Indian myself, we love our spicy food! To wash it down, we had the neembu pani which is a lemonade and mint mix drink. Very yum! I definitely recommend this business and I will be coming back to bring my family to eat here. Happy to have an Indian restaurant nearby locally now and will be worth going to instead of traveling towards Houston! read more

Ok, so this place just opened a few weeks ago, and they are going through some growing pains. There seems to be a disconnect between the server and the kitchen staff, but it didn't matter because the food was AWESOME. Let me start with my one complaint, the samosas were not good. They were bland, stale, and unappetizing. Now, I lived in NYC for years and was able to dine at dozens of different Indian places from the north and south. The first thing I'll tell you is that the food here is less greasy than most. Okay, so To drink I had the nimbo pani, it was amazing. If you haven't had it it's like a minty lemonade, served in a stainless steel cup that keeps it cold with very little ice to not dilute the flavor. For my entree I had the biryani, it was delicious and reasonably priced. My wife had the tikka masala which she said she liked, but I think it's hard to do tikka masala poorly. Go to this place now, there's not much out there like it. read more

Curry Sultan - Keep it local people! Great food too. - Indian Near Me - Humble, Texas

The food here was great and I ordered it for delivery and they were on time and very courteous recommend this to anybody in Humble

Awesome Indian food. As an Indian, I can attest to the quality of ingredients and food. Many other places don't seem to cook as fresh.

Food was delicious! Service was excellent. I had the Lamb Vindaloo, was spicy, not burn your mouth spicy but very tasty! Lambs was tender and flavorful. The garlic naan was baked to perfection, the chopped garlic pieces had baked char on them that really opened up the aroma and taste of the bread. Sauce for the Vindaloo was again, rich and spicy. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting excellent Indian cuisine. Owner was friendly and the wait staff made excellent recommendation on the appetizers. read more

I was going to take before food pictures but we attacked it before I thought to whip out my phone. Take my word for it the food was great. I like Indian cuisine but this is probably the best place so far. This place is hard to see because it's in a shopping center and behind another restaurant but not a hole in the wall by any means. They have a beer and wine selection and a small store. The service was excellent and the wait staff is very nice, the cook came out front and talked to us, he was very nice. Russell Ramaswamy was his name. The menu is small but the offer a variety including hotness and vegan, side dishes a variety of naan and rice as well as flavor. The food was so great, the drinks are delicious and everything was authentic. AUTHENTIC, AUTHENTIC, AUTHENTIC!!! You have to try it at least once. read more

Came for lunch with a few coworkers and it was just OK. Pros: Shrimp samosas, Vindaloo, naan. Cons: Price, spice, service, atmosphere It didn't feel much like walking into a restaurant. It's an empty looking retail space with some chairs thrown around. I read through other reviews and this was blamed on a contractor theft at some point but I think there's been plenty time to rectify that. The responses to some of these reviews are incredibly condescending as well and don't paint a good picture of the owner. (Update: See his response to mine below and how he reacts to legitimate criticism.) Our server was pretty disinterested. Bare minimum, really. Just showed us to our seats, brought drinks, took order. No refills throughout the meal. Had the food been spicy enough to warrant it, I might have asked for some more water. Shrimp samosas we got for a starter were great and really the highlight of the meal. If they weren't $8 for 5 small shrimp, I would've ordered more. For entrees, 3 of us ordered Medium spice dishes and what we got wasn't even what I consider Mild. I had the Vindaloo and the sauce, meat, and potatoes were good. A different kind of tang than others I'd tried before but there was zero heat. I eat what I consider somewhat spicy foods, but nothing insae. This didn't even register. I'm not sure if it's because they've had to adapt to the tastes of the area, but a Medium heat should at least register somewhere. The only other thing that makes sense is that they messed up the order or it was pre-prepared at a certain spice level for the lunch rush. Another couple of pros: The fresh naan bread and the speed at which we got our food. When you have people in there on lunch that speed is important and they have it down quite well. The bottom line: too expensive for the portion size, service, and atmosphere. Worst of all, no spice. read more

Went by for lunch on Tuesday. Hours on door read open at 11 am. Walked in at 11:05am and was told they would not be open till 11:30am. Very disappointing... I'm sure that wouldn't fly is Russell had been there. We drove to the Indian Buffet in Humble which was excellent. read more

The place has an unassuming air, which is nice. Chef Russell came and said hello, and the service was attentive. We also got a tour of the kitchen that inspired confidence. The service was attentive. Everything was clean and fresh. The food however is still sitting in my refrigerator! We ordered a spinach chaat, which was just okay. I was expecting something else, but it's a slight variance of bhel puri where fried spinach is crumbled on the chaat. We got the lamb kebab that was succulent, but slightly too salty. We then ordered the malai kofta, chicken tikka, lemon rice, and garlic naan. (we do eat a lot!) The kofta and chicken were too sweet and the flavor of tomatoes was overwhelming. The lemon rice was below average. The garlic naan was good, but we didn't really know what to eat it with. So, no I will not be going here again. read more

The decor is minimalist, the service is pretty good but that's perfect because it really lets the food speak for itself. Served on metallic bowls with side dishes (just like in India) the food tends to err on the side of home cooked soul food. The owner really cares about the food and it shows. Check this place out if you're looking for good Indian. I had the veggies samosas, aloo palaak, chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala. All of these are highly recommended. This is easily one of the best off the beaten path restaurants in the Humble/Atascocita area. read more

A small restaurant which serves food with a smile and it sure does satisfy any Indian food aficionados palette. I rather kept it simple by ordering Butter Chicken, Matar Paneer with a garlic naan, roti and a paneer paratha. Oh boy, the chef de cuisine Russell hit the right notes!!! It was so subtle and flavorful. He took his time to get the dishes but I can taste the freshness oozing out of every dish even though I was the last visitor of the evening. Greatly appreciated and would be my go-to choice for fresh Indian food in humble. read more

I can't believe what a horrible experience this was. I think I like 2020 more than I like this place and that's saying a lot. Management needs to be retrained in customer etiquette and hospitality. I'm speechless. My mouth has no words. Probably cause it's still watering from the Samosa's with beef for appetizers. Then the Chicken Tikka Masala for myself and the Chicken Biryani for my wife...
