This is a decent Indian restaurant--nothing particularly fancy or exceptional, but solid and fair for the price. The mattar paneer was really good: the curry had the right consistency, not too watery, and well-balanced. The rice was also perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. The channa were just okay, slightly undercooked for my taste. On the other hand, the aloo tikki was fresh and flavorful, definitely one of the better items. Their chutneys stood out too--they were tasty and had a nice, slightly unique twist compared to typical versions.

Look, I'm old. How was I supposed to recall that I ordered from Curry Heights 13 years ago, and really didn't like it? Well, I'm glad I didn't, because we just ordered delivery and it was far better than I remembered. I can't tell you about what this place looks like (maybe it's gorgeous inside), but I can tell you that the delivery was quick, and as far as the food: The Manchurian cauliflower was deeply delicious, and had plenty of heat. The ka-chori chaat was literally the most I've ever liked chickpeas. There was plenty of texture and flavor and brightness to contrast the rich and hot rogan josh curry. I prefer the latter over the tikka masala we obviously ordered, and that sauce was not as thin and flavorless as I'd remembered, but quite tasty! The meat samosas and the naan were well done. Also, they have french fries. Nothing makes my kids happy as much as traditional Indian french fries. Overall, an excellent Indian delivery experience. The only downside was that the meats (both the chicken in the tikka masala, and the beef in the rogan josh) were a bit dry. (Also, they have beef? I've only seen this in Indian spots in Texas, where I assume it's the law that they have to have beef available at all times, in all restaurants. It was pretty chewy here though, and I wouldn't order it again. Lamb next time, as it should be. I was just curious.)

Not sure why this place has less than 5 star.. portions- BEEFY! Even if you don't get beef. I got a chicken curry dish recommended by the cashier and was pleasantly surprised by the serving size. The food came out within minutes of ordering, and the staff was kind and attentive. The ambience seems traditional, I went during the daytime, so there wasn't too many people inside.

Great spot for a quick Indian lunch. Super affordable prices for their express lunch. You can order from their regular menu or you can head to the back of the restaurant and ordered their express lunch, which is what I did. I had the 1 meat and 1 vegetarian option, which comes with rice and naan. For the meat I had chicken vindaloo and I had channa marsala for the veggie option. Options look small but was decently filling. The naan was OK -- could've been more warm. I liked the chicken vindaloo but it tasted a bit different from what I usually taste from other restaurants. The sauce was definitely more on the vinegary side. Only reason I took off a star is because they automatically add tips to your total when you pay -- which is WAY above the standard 16-18%.

My kid brother came from out of state & we went in Manhattan. It was almost 90 degrees, we were so tired & feeling hungry. So I googled & try to find a desi halal restaurant to eat. When I went inside only thing I liked was the paintings on the wall. The decor was kinda dull, maybe the business isn't good. But they definitely need to renovate & redecorate the restaurant. I was too tired to leave & try another restaurant! So decided to eat anyway. The price was high & the taste wasn't close at all. Me & my brother couldn't even finish our one chicken biryani. I had to bring the other chicken biryani at home. The chicken loly pop was ok. Only thing I liked is the lady who served us. Really nice & helpful. I appreciated her service a lot. Even my kid brother also gave her tip besides me. I hope rest of the food is better then what we tasted. Feeling real bad saying all this, maybe others will like it. For an Indian Halal restaurant, there was not much flavor. Probably the Chef will hate me after this, maybe I should remove my pictures from the reviewBut it is what it is! I was dissatisfied! My brother did mentioned that he liked the mango lassi. That's a plus point

Banana pakora

This is one of a few Indian places in the area. A lot of reviews appear to be be complaining here about service charges or some other stuff not even related to the food so the average here is probably a bit higher. Compared to most, they are more low-key with a good lunch special and a good dinner special for the area. Said dinner special for $22 comes with an appetizer, a main dish, a naan, and basmati rice. I got a sweet lassi to drink and it was fine. Less thick than some other spots but still tasty. My appetizer was the banana pakora. It came with 4 very large pieces and the banana inside was ripe and sweet so it was closer to a dessert and could likely be moved there without batting an eye outside of the mint chutney it came with. Someone had a Mulligatawny soup which was solid. The last person had one of the chaats I believe which was alright. My main dish was the crab curry which was surprisingly part of the special. I ordered it spicy and it was indeed spicy and good. Someone else got I believe a fish dish which I remember liking. The last person had tandoori chicken which was fine but not as good as Indian Table or Mint Heights. As my naan, I got the keema naan and it was hot and had a good amount of minced lamb though said lamb could have been more flavored. I tried the garlic naan which was tasty. The food here is a bit lower quality than at either Mint Heights or Indian Table but it's hard to argue with the lunch or dinner special here. They remind me of some of the hole in the walls in Murray Hill especially with the lunch special which reminds me heavily of Haandi. I wouldn't expect mind-blowing Indian food here but you get what you pay for here and some. Will be back for the lunch special. Mid 3.

Fantastic dinner with amazing prices and huge portions! My mom and I ate here tonight and couldn't even finish our meals. Yum, yum!

I asked for spicy tikka masala and it was not spicy at all and realized when I got home :/. Check your food before you leave in case you have a special request. Also my samosa was not cooked all the way :/ Even though the something's needed improvement the curry was still tasty!

Lunch special here, and the price is not bad. I ordered the Chicken Tikka with two veggie. Potatoes & eggplants. Food is pretty good it has good flavor. Just wish they will give a little more chicken. It also comes with a naan which is very soft. I also ordered a Mango Lassi, it was really good. A must try. Definitely will go back again.

I really wanted to eat here as it had been an eon. I had a vital appointment nearby, so I took my Uber here. Sadly, the street was closed so we had to get out a block away and walk. To our surprise, they were closed. I saw a fellow in the kitchen walking towards the door. Based on past experiences, I thought he was coming to let us in. Then someone else came up behind me and I apologized, greeted him, and moved out of the way. He went in, said nothing. Puzzled, we walked in and stood there, waiting to be seated. The man who entered before me came back out of the kitchen and just said "we arent ready yet" I apologized and asked if he wanted us to come back later. He said yes. I was surprised because they are usually so welcoming here, and I fully expected to be invited to sit down until they were ready. I figured it must be great to have customers waiting when you open. We went back outside but it was freezing. I'm disabled and had no coat since I Ubered here to get some blood sugar before going to Social Security. My caretaker had brought me here but had to be on a conference call the whole time, so without a place to sit, we had to eat elsewhere. I hope to randomly end up back here someday, but probably wouldn't rely on it for a crucial meal before medical appointment. I don't want to say anything bad about them because they've always been wonderful, but calling it a neutral visit is being overly kind. we stood outside, disabled, no coat, for 2 hrs due to unexpectedly being rejected from our first choice. sad

Shrimp Tandoori Masala
Su H.

Y'all... I ordered this with 4 friends who all got the chicken tikka masala and I had the shrimp tandoori masala. We were shocked because we've never had Indian curry that was so bland/dilute. It really felt like we were eating soup... It was extremely disappointing. I really think this place needs to change the chef or recipe because something is definitely off. The curry should be thicker and have more flavor. My curry specifically felt like shrimp and onion soup. So many onions. Please season your food... The best part was the garlic naan. That is always good. But if you're going to charge $20+ per curry dish, please check its quality before sending it out.

Takeout menu

During the 'New Normal' this is a spot my partner and I recommended if you are looking for indian food. Currently they are not open for inside/outside dining but they do offer takeout and delivery. Personally I recommend trying out the two-course deal option. It includes most of the appetizers and main courses and will make sure to provide enough food for dinners and next day's lunch. I ordered the Kachori Chaat and my partner had the Aloo Rikki, both were a first for us and neither disappointed with a nice blend of sweet and savory. My partner continued with the tandoori bbq chicken for entry while I had the Tikka Masala. The chicken was a bit dry but the lamb was delicious especially when dipping the naan bread in the sauce

We typically place the order via Seamless. Found vegetarian dishes pretty good. Delivery time typically around 45 minutes.

Naturally, I wanted to try as many classic dishes as possible, especially since the menu had so many items that caught my eye! Food: 4/5 I'm not gonna lie: when I go to a place that advertises chili and spicy dishes, I expect HEAT. I want my mouth on fire! Unfortunately, outside of the marinated crab, I didn't get quite the level of spice I was hoping for, even when trying their traditional spicy sauce. I understand that not everyone wants to suffer through a meal, but for those of us who love spicy food, I was hoping for a little more kick. That said, the food was genuinely delicious. The wings were beautifully fried with this almost lime-and-sugar-crusted flavor. They were crispy and tasty, but definitely not spicy. The mussels were another highlight. They were smoky, incredibly tender, and cooked beautifully. I would absolutely order them again. However, the marinated crab was the star of the show. It had exactly the level of spice I was craving, and I kept going back for more because I just wanted that burn! It was seriously addictive. I was also pleasantly surprised by their happy-hour seafood tower. For around $45, you get clams, oysters, shrimp, and marinated crab all on one tower. Honestly, that's a fantastic deal for a shareable platter of seafood that can get pretty expensive elsewhere. I would absolutely come back during happy hour just to order this again! I also tried the crab fried rice and sweet limeade. The fried rice was worth trying, while the limeade was refreshing but nothing particularly memorable. I've heard great things about their cocktails, so I imagine those might be worth exploring if you drink alcohol. Our total came to around $150 after tax and tip for the seafood tower, marinated crab, wings, mussels, crab fried rice, and limeade. It's certainly not the cheapest outing, but considering how much we ordered, I thought it was reasonable. Service: 5/5 Honestly, the service was fantastic! My server was attentive throughout the meal and made sure to explain the best order for the dishes. For example, she recommended serving the raw seafood tower first, before bringing out the cooked dishes, so we could enjoy everything at its best. I really appreciated how patient and flexible she was, especially since I'm a little indecisive when ordering. We started with the seafood, moved on to the cooked dishes, and then I ordered the crab fried rice because I really wanted to try it. The pacing felt thoughtful rather than rushed, and the team was accommodating throughout the experience. I genuinely have no complaints about the service. My server made the experience that much better! Vibe: 4/5 I really enjoyed being able to sit outside on such a beautiful day. The restaurant was a great place to enjoy a variety of seafood and share several dishes without feeling rushed. The happy-hour seafood tower also makes it a particularly appealing option for a group looking to try different things without spending a fortune on each individual seafood dish. All in all, I would definitely come back, especially during happy hour for that seafood tower and the marinated crab. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and I thought the overall value was pretty good considering everything we ordered. My one note: If you're a serious spice lover who wants every dish to set your mouth on fire, this might not be the place to satisfy that particular craving. There are definitely other spots in New York City that deliver more heat. But if you're looking for delicious seafood, a great shareable platter, and excellent service, this place is absolutely worth checking out!
