Have probably tried over half of the menu options at this point and all of them are amazing. Such a great addition to Madras!

I asked for very mild spice in my takeout. It was so spicy I could not eat it and had to throw it away.

Right now, the only Indian food in Redmond is a food truck, and there are only two small Indian restaurants in Bend.

The past several times I've been, the food quality just is not what it used to be. Not easy to explain but just not great anymore. A Cpl dishes were so salty it was almost shocking on the first bite. The most disappointing thing was that my younger sister visited from Vermont. She's a vegetarian and before she got here. I talked this place up pretty big. Unfortunately, when I took her there, the buffet was in very sad shape. You can tell the food had just been sitting out and wasn't particularly even warm. Looked dry on the edges and just tired looking. When I asked if they were bringing more food out because about 50% of the trays looked like they had about one scoop left in them, one of the guys motion to someone else to start bringing out some more food. I understand not wasting food, but this is at about 1:15 in the afternoon so really not that close to when they would normally clean the lunch buffet up. I don't know. The whole experience was just overall kind of sad. I was really hoping my sister would enjoy it by the less they are feeling like I need to apologize. The service was also pretty much nonexistent. We were barely greeted and sent down to find our own seat. Never offered anything to drink, and when I was walking to the buffet, I asked if someone could come take her drink orders about 10 minutes into a meal. Just didn't seem like anyone cared at all that we were there. I don't know if it's new ownership or management or what. Maybe they need to replace their chef. I hope it comes back to the quality that it once was though because I really want to still love taj!

The seating is great, and staff are really friendly, but what stands out is the authentic Nepalese cuisine. I'd recommend: Kids chicken fried rice, paired with the chicken chilli- neither of these are spicy and have a great deal of flavor / it's a fusion of Indian and Chinese food. The Himalayan drunken noodles - this is an Indo-Chinese take on pad-see-ew - there are very subtle hints of Indian curry flavor in them The pork and chicken momos - these are like dumplings, and come with a nice tomato/garlic dipping sauce If you choose to dine in, there are plenty of tables in a spacious room and also outdoor seating. If you're the adventurous type of eater, give this a try / you won't be disappointed!

My husband doesn't like spiced foods, but they had a hamburger on the menu so we gave it a try. They are also a taphouse with local beers and ciders. It was cutely decorated with Nepal art and plenty of tables inside along with bar seating and a very cute outdoorseating area. We tried a berry cider, and my husband ordered the Himalayan hamburger. The hamburger had a meatloaf quality to it with a heavy onion flavor. I had a bite and I liked the flavor, and the fries were good with just a hint of spice. I ordered the chicken curry, and it was ok. I actually like a lot of spice, but this was just a basic curry. I might have been better off ordering the momo platter or interesting sounding onion rings called yeti strings. Service was excellent. I believe the owner talked to us after we seated ourselves and was very pleasant. We ordered at the counter at the bar for drinks and food, and the waitress brought everything and made sure to check on us to make sure everything tasted OK. I wouldn't order the curry again, but I would definitely be interested in ordering the momos or an ap and a drink if in the area again!

It leaned modern with traditional inspirations and was clean. You see hit with a delicious smell upon entering. The staff were friendly and greeted and seated us right away. They were, in general, a bit slow paced. But no complaints. We were a large group and they dealt with us well. The menu covers an array of Indian classics that most Americans would be familiar with, with appetizers, drinks, meat, and veggie options. The food was served nicely. Pricing was as on the upper average side, but the portions were good. The food tasted good, but it wasn't super classic in flavor. The mango tikka was unique but delicious. Many patrons dining-in didn't have food, so maybe we were among the Monday dinner rush or maybe this is how the business runs here. Upon entering the business, one of the waiters seemed confident that our order wasn't ready, without first asking what our order number or name was or directing us to the area for which we would pick up. The two entrees themselves were good, spice level on par, chicken breast chunks well cut, the rice sides filled the containers and were tender and well seasoned. The naan was basic, small burnt areas and cold by the time we did our five minute drive.

The newly renovated interior is stunning--the Southeast Asian-inspired lighting fixtures create a fantastic vibe that feels both upscale and welcoming. The Food: Everything we ordered was spot on. The Goat Curry and Biryani were packed with authentic Indian flavors and cooked to perfection. Definitely don't miss the Samosa Chaat; it's loaded with savory chutneys and yogurt, and the portion is huge--easily enough for a group of 2-4 to share. Drinks & Vibes: We paired our meal with an icy-cold 20 oz Taj Mahal beer and a Lemon Drop that was mixed perfectly. Service & Location: The service here is exceptional. They treated us like family from the moment we walked in, checking on us just the right amount. Plus, it's super convenient with easy parking right out front on SW Century Drive (across from Cascade West). Having lived and traveled throughout Southeast Asia, finding this kind of "Indian jewel" right here in Bend was such a great surprise. Highly recommend!

Menu is by electronic tablet. Navigating the extensive menu is relatively easy. I do wish our server had asked if we were familiar (we weren't) so we could have taken advantage of the selection saving feature. As it was, ordering four entrees involved repeat look-ups because we kept forgetting the numbers of the dishes we wanted. Next time, we'll know to do that. It also would be great if they cleaned the tablet screens a bit more thoroughly. Drinks: they have them and the selection includes a number of interesting specialty cocktails, plus beer and wine. I ordered a rum/pineapple cocktail as well as a dirty martini. The rum one was a bit weak but the martini hit the spot. Food: Four entrees including three vegetarian and one chicken, all ordered medium, which was probably a mistake as medium apparently means mild. Flavors were decent if a bit lacking in body. Service: no issues. Ambiance: also fine but I wasn't as struck by the decor as some other reviewers. Music is too loud. I'd prefer they just turn it off. And as I mentioned, they have banquet seating, something I never want. Who wants to sit facing a wall? All in all, a solid addition to the dining scene.

Nothing special above and beyond insofar as the service but it was not bad either. I would say, they did their job. My granddaughter and I both got the Khao Soi Curry with Chicken. It was fantastic. Hot, creamy and coconutty with just the right level of spice. The portion was extremely generous making for some excellent leftovers. It had crunchy noodles for texture, soft noodles for chew and it was very saucy, with a decent portion of chicken. If I had to find a negative, by itself, the thinly sliced chicken seemed under seasoned and would have been dry had there not been a good amount of sauce. All in all, I highly recommend a visit to others and deemed them worthy of a return visit to try some of their other menu items.
