If you know me, you already know... I don't mess around when it comes to tacos. Every place we go, I'm out to find the best taco. We ended up at La Posada Mexican Grill in Madras, Oregon... and this is one of those spots that doesn't try to impress you from the outside... but the food absolutely does. I ordered a carne asada taco and their three crispy bean tacos that they're known for. The carne asada had that real flavor to it, not over-seasoned... just simple and done right and the tortillas... perfect. And those crispy bean tacos... I get why they're known for them. Crispy, flavorful, and just the right ratio of filling to topping. And the salsa bar... this is where you can tell if a place is serious. While it looks simple in the photo, it honestly deserves a review all on its own. Multiple salsas, all different, all fresh... pickled carrots (one of my favorites), and of course, radishes. But the kicker... what really put it over the top for me and sold me on coming back someday were the roasted chiles and grilled onions on the side. That alone tells you everything you need to know about how good this place really is. And I'll say this, because it proves itself over and over again... do not judge a Mexican restaurant by the outside of the building. Ever. Some of the best food you'll find is in the most unassuming places... and this is definitely one of them. So authentic. read more

The service was really good, the price is right and they were fast to bring out my food. I had the combo platter with the cheese enchilada and the Chile relleno. I loved the Chile relleno but the cheese enchilada didnt cut it, not even melted cheese in there and the enchilada sauce was very salty. The beans and rice were both really good. I would try it again because I'm thinking the saltiness was not a normal thing based on other reviews. read more

Great hole-in-wall gem. Good food, salsa bar, grilled onions and grilled chilis at salsa bar. Great price.

It is almost comical how many people have told me to try this place out. Several different Mexican food options in town, but this is a local favorite. Came here for a breakfast burrito. Ordered over the phone and it was ready when I got there. SO GOOD. THE BACON. THE EGG. THE TORTILLA. CHEFS KISS. Ambiance- it was only me and my friend but the service was spectacular. Great option if ur in town and it's a chain read more

Says open at 9 am. Closed up tighter than a drum. Called no answer. C other guy just walked up. Looked like a regular. Looked this watch like what the hell. Out of towner pulling a boat parked in front. Left. Hell of a way to run a business. For me personally if I look on here and it says it's open it should be open or leave the hours off the site. Ok still typing and another vehicle pulls up. More lost business. Maybe they'll go out of business! 9:25. Here comes a lady swinging her keys. Acting like she just got out of bed. And they're open! Nah. I'll go home and eat. read more

I'm traveling through and this was an easy place to stop and park. Service at the counter was very nice. Food is delicious and came out very fast. Salsa bar was well stocked, I loved the sauté onions and peppers. read more

La Posada Mexican Grill - Mexican Near Me - Madras, Oregon

I grew up just north of the border so I know what authentic Mexican food is. La Posada is the closest I have found to true Mexican food in Central Oregon. Staff are friendly, food was prepared quick but fresh. Aguas were great. This is my go to spot when I'm craving Mexican food. Inside gives you an authentic feel. read more

Was working in madras for a month this summer, ate at La Posada almost every night and would do it again in a heartbeat. Best Mexican food I've ever had! Service is great and the typical taqueria ambiance is great! read more

I'd give 10 stars to this place if I could! They have the best carnitas I've had anywhere in the world, including Mexico. The meat was perfectly cooked, the sauces and condiments were fresh and delicious, and the staff were friendly. My husband ordered the carne asada and it was equally delicious. read more

The food is authentic. The service isn't really bilingual. And still I give five stars! Don't let the building detour you! read more

Everything is good! Love the service. So fast to order and pick up. Buenos Dias is my favorite!

fast but authentic Mexican food. Wonderful salsa bar with 4 different house made salsas, and sides of roasted chiles, pickled carrots etc. I love the Tijuana tacos. read more

Best grilled chicken burrito I've had since moving from San Diego. So happy!!! And the woman at the register is beyond nice. The salsas, carrots and onions were also fantastic. Can't wait to go back. read more

Used to be one of the best places to eat in madras now it's one of the worst. The pieces of cartilage in the meat says it all.

We love the food and all the extra's at the salsa bar!!! Good customer service, they are always friendly.

The bathroom hygiene does not inspire confidence, but the food is bomb. Best Mexican food I've had in a long time. Amazing chips, tacos, salsas, roasted peppers, onions, pickled sides Definitely going back. Please up your bathroom game! read more

basically ok food. Not actually authentic as enchilada sauce is from the can, visible in the kitchen and bland in taste. Condiments bar has a few salsas, again.. just OK. If you want chips and salsa you will pay an additional $3. A combo plate is priced at 10 bucks for rice, beans, chimichanga and taco. This one must consume with the flimsy plastic fork they give you. Condiments bar has a roasted green pepper that is extremely hot, too too hot even for the most stalwart amongst us. All in all, our bill was over $20 for two, with one person having the combo, a drink, chips, and the other having only enchiladas ala carte. Spendy, all things considered. Also service es solamente okay. read more

Drive through Madras on the way to Lake Billy, and Taco Bell was closed! It was 10:45 pm! I had never seen a Taco Bell close so early, but Sonic and McDonald's didn't sound good. We passed this little Mexican joint and despite the creepy outside, I had the urge to go. We went and there was an empty car sitting in the drive-in, but nobody else around. I looked for Sopes(my favorite to get everywhere) and they had it! Along with active of other inexpensive things! I chose a chicken taco also. Great prices, and pretty dang good food! The packaging is hilarious and like nothing I've ever seen before, but the food was great! I recommend stopping 100% for something quick and tasty! read more

La Posada Mexican Grill - Menu - Mexican Near Me - Madras, Oregon

Won't go back and that's kinda sad. Menu has no descriptions so I had to stand and ask what was in multiple items (I'm not allergic or nuthin', but seriously, what comes in your beef burrito?)... and with the shields and masks it's a battle. Carne Asada burrito was deemed practically inedible (see meat-reasons below). Enchilada sauce in my burrito and fries were great, but the meat was filled with gristle, fat and veins. And we were sooooo hungry so that should've given the product a major boost but alas, not in this case. Gal at the counter was nice and patient. Looks like all the local folk behind me ordered combo plates so maybe that's where "it's at". read more

Amazing food. Delicious. Go here all the time! Anyone who doesnt like this place has no opinion in my book. Haters can eat Taco Bell. Beatriz, if youre out there, meet me outside La Posada to settle this. Thank you! That will be all. read more

They have bomb burritos, their super burritos are HUGE! The food is consistent, allowing for a winning combo there.

Absolutely DIVINE! As authentic as it gets. Great service, amazing food. Love it! Thank you!

It was a small little Place, minimal interior decor but the moment we entered the smell of the food confirmed its authenticity. And then it all happened- from hot to hotter salsas, white sautéed pepper, the best fajitas and nachos I have had, the tallest cup of horchata. The moment we got Time to talk, we all rated it a 5 stars!!! So this is basically a three person review read more

Authentic Mexican food! The tortillas are legit, the carrots vinegary, and you get lots of carne asada. The employees are super friendly, too. We got whole beans instead of frijoles - highly recommend. read more

This place is decent food, but they didn't get our order right and didn't seem interested in even trying to. With so many other Mexican restaurant options in town, seems like they would try harder. read more

I don't know if this place is the same as the La conga/Muchas Gracias brand, but they seem very similar. Great tasting affordable food is a slightly creepy atmosphere. Good sized burritos too. Best Mexican breakfast ever!!!! authentic. Very friendly. We will definitely be back

It's time for an honest review and i won't be back. Twice now I've arrived after 9 in the morning and they are still closed. I want to thank you, you probably saved me from a case of irritable bowels. The building itself is dirty all the way around. The outside, the inside. Dirty, just filth. Ever heard of taking pride in ownership? Please clean your nasty place up. It's safe to assume your kitchen is just as dirty or worse. It should be renamed la cockroafh. On to the food. Once again, not going back. The "chicken" is cheap and fatty. The carne is grissel. They use only the cheapest of ingredients. No cooking with love at this restaurant. It also appears to be a decent location to purchase hard drugs if you're into that. Lots of shady looking employees and patrons. read more

So I am from out of state, I am from Florida. I wanted something that reminded me of the Mexican food I am currently missing. Came across the reviews on google and figured I would try it out. It did not disappoint the breakfast burrito with the chorizo was so delicious. The red sauce and the green sauce absolutely the best I've come across. read more

Stopped here after a lon day on the water. Best meal I had all week. Got the beer burrito/cheese enchilada combo. Most definitely coming back. read more

Ah, ignore the haters. My family's eaten some of the best Mexican food the American Southwest has to offer, but here in Madras when we want breakfast burritos or tacos, this is where we go. I've likely eaten tens of thousands of calories worth of the La Posada breakfast burritos over the last few years, and I'm not ashamed to say it. The tacos are massive, cheap, and fantastic. The salsa bar has a variety of great sauces to slather over your food, too (six or seven, if memory serves). They also serve menudo, which is great but does *not* come with hominy (which I hear is more a regional idiosyncrasy than a cost-saving measure). It also sells out very quickly, so get there around opening Friday or Saturday or forget about it. A great strategy is to load up on tacos to go from La Posada, and go kitty corner across the street to the alleyway pub to get some beers to go with 'em. read more

Stopped in here on a road trip up from California. The tacos de lengua and adobada are by far some of the best I've had in a while. They also include a lot of salsa and some pickled carrots and peppers with your order which is definitely a plus. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Food was an easy 4 stars, and the staff was friendly, but the place was a little run down. The bathrooms are outside and they were out of soap. Also the inside seating area didn't have napkins anywhere and the tables were wiped down, but not thoroughly. I got the carnitas burrito and my wife got the carne asada. I think between the two I would get the carne asada. The salsas were spicy enough to melt the hair off your walnuts, but I had to do the guesswork to figure out the spice level since the only labels were to identify what "type" of salsa they were. This is less a hit on them and more of a commentary of the vast differences some places have when it comes to spice levels of the same type of salsas. For them, they were all mostly spicy. And I'm saying this as a Mexican who grew up eating food with lost of spice. My overall recommendation, go to this place. Get the carne asada burrito, a side of the avocado salsa, and go eat your yummy lunch somewhere else. Also, they do offer carne asada fries, but I did not try them so this is more just to tell people that you can get them there. read more

Loved it. Ate there 2 1/2 times while in town for the eclipse. Open 24 hours, quite cheap and quite good quality for the price. I like Mexican cooking, but more on the Mexican side than the Tex Mex side. You wouldn't catch me dead in a Taco Bell, or worse, a Taco Del Mar for example. Is it the most authentic Mexican food ever? Probably not. Did it hit the spot, for the right price, at the right time? Definitely. They are not the fastest, count about 5-10 minutes before your food is ready. And it'd be nice to have real cutlery rather than plastic. read more

I always order the same chicken burrito, saucy not spicy. They're quick which is great because I grab grub here on my way back to bend and it is steps away from the road. Always found parking in the front or side. They have a pickle bar and sauces which is nice. Worth a stop if you're in a hurry and dont like mc food. read more

Posada has another branch in Redmond, OR - that's a more amenable place. This one in Madras has good food - really very good food, and not expensive. But they first tried to charge $20 and something; I questioned the cost and they reduced it to $15-something. I counted the cost of the items, and they came to a dollar less. When we got our food, my dining companion mentioned they had neglected to include a portion of guacamole (cost 50 cents). We asked about that and they gave us the guacamole without asking for more. We were still paying 50 cents too much. Is this a mistake in addition on someone's part? I might think so except for the original request for $20+. The food makes it worth eating here, but watch your charges especially if you are out of town. On the more positive side, the salsa bar has an abundance of peppers (3 kinds), fried onions, cilantro, radishes and pickled carrots. They are all good. The menu has a good variety. In spite of the weirdness, we'd still eat here again, except for the wonderful Los Gatos Salvadorean Restaurant one street over. So we'll be more likely to wait till Redmond to eat at a La Posada. read more
