This was my first time eating at Currant, and it definitely won't be my last! I'm always hesitant of restaurants inside or connected to hotels (usually overpriced and trying to be fancy but not actually good food), but that wasn't the case with Currant! I came during happy hour so a great value (I would say their normal prices are a fair value given the high quality of the food) and the food was very flavorful! I only got the Moroccan chicken flatbread and it was very well executed! The chicken was flavorful not dry, the feta and other herbs complemented the chicken wonderfully and it is served on a nice wooden board. Overall it's very tasty and filling! You can even see in my picture that they really load up on the toppings! I can't wait to come back and try more of their flatbreads and hopefully some of their other offerings as well! read more

I visit a lot of restaurants and never have I encountered a place where they are too busy to check-in with the guests. But this changed with my visit to currant along with my spouse and 2-year old. We were standing at the entrance waiting to be greeted and checked in and even after a good 5-7 minute wait there was no one checking on us. Not even someone updating if they are busy and if we have to wait longer. Literally nothing. When the staff have successfully made sure they ignored our presence we decided that it's high time we leave. Not coming back. read more

We were staying at the sound and decided to have a light breakfast here since it was just off the lobby annd we were on a schedule. While the food was decent to above average, the wait time and service is abominable. Our waitress was pleasant, but left the table full of empty glasses, told me they were out of tea cups and brought my tea bag in a small cardboard cup that was not much bigger than an espresso cup that I was expected to use for tea. I asked for sweetener with it, and that never came despite a reminder. We were short a table setting, and got tired of waiting so we just shared our silverware. The food took forever to come out so I'm not sure if there's also a staffing issue in the kitchen, but it took us an hour and 15 minutes to get avocado toast, juice, tea and water. read more

***Update: I was checking my credit card statement and found the charge posted by currant bistro discrepant from what I remembered. It was not a big difference (less than a dollar) but I don't understand what happened.*** TLDR: food - 2/5, drink - 3.5/5, service 3/5, price - 2/5 We came here for a Saturday brunch. There were 6 of us so I made a reservation to be safe. Our group arrived on time (11AM) and was the only party there, so I guess reservation wasn't necessary. We started with drinks and placed our food order right after. Honestly we didn't order that much food (one entree per person + a flatbread) and we were the only table present, but it took over 30 minutes for the food to be served. The wait time was so long that even though we were super focused on our conversations, we noticed it (normally we would forget about the food). Drink: 1. My latte had the shittiest latte art ever (for a latte served in a mug) - a layer of messed up milk foam. It tasted alright, but that's expected with its price ($5+). 2. My friend liked her drip coffee. Food: 1. My friend HATED her avocado toast ($11.49). It was topped with arugula and apparently they added lots of balsamic vinegar to the arugula, without listing it on the menu. The balsamic vinegar made the toast extremely sour. A sour avocado toast??? I was disgusted by my friend's description, let alone trying it. 2. I really DIDN'T ENJOY my wild salmon salad ($18.49). It shouldn't be called salmon salad, as it was diced salmon sprinkled on top of a salad. The amount of salmon in the salad was pitiable given its price. The salad mix was impressively bland and made no sense - dry boiled green beans mixed with arugula, weirdly marinated cucumber, and the least moist jicama I've ever had. What kind of salad mix is that??? The blandness of the salad could probably be justified by the green goddess dressing on the side (honestly the dressing wasn't that good either). However, my friend who ordered the same thing but with the dressing poured over complained that there was too much of dressing. 3. The Moroccan Spiced Chicken Flatbread was alright. Definitely way more feta cheese than chicken (ratio felt like 2:1 to me), and everything was a bit too dry. Would be much more tasty if either the chicken or the bread was a bit moist. Service was alright except for the slow speed... Our waiting staff was very attentive and renewed my friend's coffee several times. The price was definitely on a level that the food didn't match :) With tax included but no tips, it was ~$26 per person. Some of the food was reasonably priced (flatbread for ~$17), some was not (my miserable salad for ~$19). Very disappointing. Never again. read more

It was very tasty. Had enough sweetness, but not overwhelming. Chips were on point, believe they are done in property. A nice glass of red wine. I was full by the time i was done. My girlfriend and I both got food poisoning from this place. I'd give the food a 3/10 even if this food didn't make us sick. I'd avoid it if at all possible. It's obvious their eggs come pre packaged in a plastic bag. The only thing they got right was their mimosas. I came here for brunch with 3 friends on a Saturday morning around 10 AM in October 2019. The bistro is located inside the hotel and it took us a moment to figure out which entrance to come in. It wasn't busy at all when we arrived, and remained fairly quiet throughout the meal. The restaurant was clean and had some cute table decorations. We ordered various coffee drinks to start (I got a soy cappuccino) before ordering our mains. I went with the breakfast board. The server was a very kind and patient woman who was good-natured about some of my friends taking forever to decide what they wanted. She didn't seem too familiar with the menu; she had to go back to the kitchen to check when asked about some of the ingredients (1 of my friends tries to avoid dairy and another tries to avoid gluten). However, in the end, it seemed it was possible to substitute ingredients on some of the dishes. I was pleased with how colorful the breakfast board was. It came with 2 slices of toast, a few slices of avocado, a pile of fruit (melons, berries, and a bit of pineapple), a hard-boiled egg with black pepper, and some currant jam. It was a reasonably filling meal, but flavor-wise wasn't one of the memorable meals I had during my trip. I can't remember exactly what all my other friends ordered, but know that 1 of them got the breakfast sandwich, was able to switch out the ciabatta for sourdough, and said it was good but almost too much food for her. My meal (breakfast board + soy cappuccino) came out to be about $20 after tax an 20% tip. It was a bit expensive for me, especially given I didn't think there was anything really special about the meal. But I had a nice enough time catching up with friends in a comfortable location, and the service was friendly. read more

I was not overly impressed by the quality of the food or presentation by the price. I ate dinner here one night and ordered the Alaska King Salmon. The dish could have been better. Located in the new Sound hotel. Fancy digs, always kind staff. I've been for lunch a few times now and really enjoyed the "atun" salad. It's a bit pricey for lunch but a great option as it's so close to work. Their house salad dressing (lemon vinaigrette) is very good! Would love to come back for HH and cocktails! read more

So I live in the apartments above the Sound Hotel & THIS place is on the bottom floor. It's never been very hospitable & the food is one notch above a vending machine .. $30 for a microwave pizza marketed as "flatbread" is absolutely criminal. Still, out of convenience & desperation, we sometimes grab a quick meal or drink. NOT after today. Today was NYE in Seattle - I stopped in to grab a cocktail on my way in from work. I wasn't dressed in sweats or joggers or leggings - I had just come from my management job. The "manager" (I use that term loosely) of this "establishment" (again, loosely) approached me after I sat down at a small table at the end of the restaurant. Now, there were no seats at the bar & all of the tables were either taken or had "reserved" signs on them. There were exactly 3 two-seat tables available and I sat at one. She walks over & immediately asks if I plan to order dinner - no greeting, just a question. I said 'no' I'm just grabbing a drink. She responds "are you sure you want to sit here?" .. I just looked at her & replied 'there are no seats at the bar, and I'm just grabbing a drink before going upstairs. I live in the building' .. this total psychopath looks at me & asks "do you want to take it with you?" .. I was dumbfounded. I said 'no .. I don't' She then looks at the 2 empty tables next to me and asks if this is the one I will be sitting at because "it's going to get pretty lively in here pretty shortly" .. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS APPALLINGLY RUDE HUMAN is THE MANAGER! So, I order my $17 waaay overpriced crappy vodka cocktail and I STEW! Now, it's 10:30pm .. I've been sitting here for 30mins and the WHOLE PLACE has emptied out. So much for the GIANT, LIVELY CROWD that needed the crappy 2-top I'm seated at. Anyway, I've been sitting here for the last 20mins writing this review because my only other option was slapping the crap out of her. So, in a few words: SKIP THIS PLACE!! FOOD = awful SERVICE = more awful PRICES = outrageous - especially for bad food Seattle is a foodie town .. there are hundreds of amazing choices for outstanding food & fabulous cocktails! Just terrible! Menu lacked variety. Food was awful. Had the hummus and cauliflower dips along with a ceasar salad. The veggies that came with the dip were greasy, but the dips themselves were flavorless and overpriced. There ceasar dressing tasted like mayonnaise. And to top it off, the service was horrid! The waiter couldn't describe the beers on tap, couldn't be bothered with asking if we wanted another, and we had to ask for our check. What a waste. read more

Our first time to Seattle traveling through, while road tripping across the USA, back towards San Diego. Ordered a pick up breakfast and thank goodness Wanda (our server) double checked the order. They accidentally made my wife's scramble with cheese and which she is allergic to. Wanda had the kitchen remake the order and then game me the other order and a cup of coffee while I waited. We watched a waiter engage in all sorts of pointless activities to avoid acknowledging us as we waited to be seated. We should have left at that point. We were walking past the Currant Bistro, late in the evening, near our hotel, and decided to check out the breakfast menu at the bistro. We went in and asked if we could see a breakfast menu. The bartender, Julian, was friendly, professional and got us the menu. He spoke with us about what we'd like and what was good on the menu. I asked what he had for single malts, and ended up with a nice glass of Scotch and a Coke for my wife. He remained very engaged while we were there, personable yet professional, and when we did leave, and my wife left her backpack, he came running after us on the sidewalk to return the backpack. If we were local, we would make this a regular spot. As it is, we can only say that we'll come back tomorrow (our last day in Seattle) and tell others about how nice Julian is. read more

It's nice to have a good place we can go for an after-hours cocktail in this area! It's a bit bare of cocktail locations here. Current hit the mark when they built a bar with plentiful seating with windows that open widely when the weather permits. Additionally, there's plenty of outdoor seating. Drinks were fine, and food was good. Oh, and they have a 7-day/week happy hour that goes until 7pm! There's not much more frustrating than a happy hour that ends at 5pm... drinks were good, food was good! Staff was good but not "5-star." We sat for quite awhile and another staff member had to bring us our tab (which was fine). The hotel that the bar is situated in does have M & W restrooms, but you do need to go to the front desk of the hotel to get the "room key" for the restroom. We had the 3-dip sampler and It was great (The above review was from shortly after the bistro opened... Sorry! I'd forgotten to hit enter to post it!) Update from 10-3-19: GREAT experience, today! Nate was our server and was friendly, and efficient. Drinks were quite good, this evening, and the food was fantastic! I had the Scallop Crudo and wow! Delish! We also got the trio of dips and the olives. I learned that I truly appreciate an Olive appetizer where the olives are pitted! Ha! Seriously- so easy to eat, and taste so good! Good food and drinks from this new Hilton Tapestry property. Breakfast and HH are both decent. However, they seem to be working the kinks out for their 7th floor F&B offerings... Sound bites is not serving food or alcohol and even the Gold/Diamond member breakfast that is supposed to be hosted there daily was cancelled this morning for unstated reason. Instead of comping with equivalent buffet in lobby restaurant, they gave $17 credit, so I ended up paying $12 for less food and had to wait, instead of the complimentary breakfast with great views of the city/ Space Needle. read more

Came for lunch with a few colleagues. Inside is beautiful and welcoming and there is also outside seating. They always have great music playing inside and out. I had the poke bowl and it was nothing to rave about - maybe because its a bistro, idk? The wild salmon did not taste fresh. The amount of aoli was not enough. Flavors of everything altogether was nothing special. If you want poke, I'd say you're better off at an actual sushi/poke restaurant. Two others had a burger and a roasted chicken breast sandwich; both were pretty basic in flavor and presentation. I guess they were expecting more, since it is on the pricey side. We all the soup of the day, which was roasted cauliflower tomato soup. It came out luke warm and I thought it was too salty. I wont comment on our server because she said she was new (slight cringe), but she was super nice. Would I come back to try other things on the menu? A meal at The Currant Bistro will not disappoint you. The chef has a strong talent for delicious and innovative flavor combinations. Fresh, healthy and an emphasis on locally sourced ingredients. One of the best burgers around, and the salads and flatbread combinations are excellent. Ask Mixologist Christina to create a Smokey Manhattan for you. After a minor issue with our meal which our server was happy to resolve, the manager came over & berated the poor waitress right in front of us. Porcetta, Fig flatbread is out of this world. Probably the best flatbread I've ever had, and I say that as a salesman who spends a lot of time on the road visiting restaurants. As for drinks the smokey Manhattan is not only a crowd pleaser with how it's made, but is really an artistic play on your standard Manhattan that makes it infinitely more fun and tasty. A nice, fancy but relaxed restaurant. We had the Little Gems Cesar salad, the soup of the day was Roasted Cauliflower and Beet, and the Butternut Flatbread. It was all so good!
