Cheeseburger, fries, blue cheese dressing for dip for the fries, wooder.
Dale P.

I came to this establishment after church on Sunday for some early evening rations. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Cheeseburger was good and I liked it that there was provolone cheese available which I chose. I had blue cheese dressing for dip for the fries. I had "wooder" to drink. I noticed that there were some flies buzzing around in this establishment. Not overwhelming but enough to be somewhat noticeable and a minor nuisance. Got this I am deducting one point. Men's washroom was satisfactory and had paper towels available... good. I do have a bone to pick about the personal appearance of the server and order taker named Brandon. I noticed that Brandon wore his shirt untucked. I consider that to be very unprofessional. For allowing employees to wear their shirts untucked I am dinging this establishment one point. If I was to assign a letter grade like is done in school this establishment would be in there solid with a C.

Latest review, 2nd visit. Again, this place is a hidden gem. Not to many people know about this establishment. Ordered breakfast and a bottle of Mimosa! Did not dissapoint! All was positive. Food was delicous and our waitress was awesome. She was cool. Plenty of parking!! Cool place all around. Good vibe

I am a sucker for and historic bar. Curley's didn't disappoint. Very welcoming and the food was great. Homemade tortilla chips were a treat. Highly recommend the chili.

For our Moms birthday, she wanted to go here. A favorite spot for her and our Dad when he was alive. She was happy to see a server that always helped them still there. I never crave a burger but was this day and ordered the western with sweet potato fries. It was delish! My Mom got the pastrami and loved it but she asked for jalapeños for some spice and lemme tell you that have spicy ones! Another thing I loved was their ranch was not watered down like most places. Mmm The atmosphere is very local hangout. Chill vibe. Check it out.

Service is great, but the food is what ever; especially for the price. I got a wedge salad, well not so much the wedge I'm used to. $15 for a plate of everything but the wedge Also blue cheese crumble and ranch dressing was a little odd for me.

Came here for lunch with a friend. Server was quick to get our order. She was friendly. The restaurant/bar is small. Average noise. Clean. We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich & the turkey sandwich. Both were delicious. The turkey was fresh.

Visiting Long Beach and dropped in at Curley's Cafe. Ordered a crispy chicken sandwich, which I have to say was the best chicken sandwich ever! The double chicken patty's were thinly battered and tender juicy, and the round bun was buttery with a good crunch! The sandwich was filled with nice strips of crunchy bacon, fresh guacamole, tomatoes, and lettuce that was a compliment with the great tasting sauce! The onion rings and French fries our a treat also! Culey's treat their customers well, and it shows with their friendly service and make your eatting experience a very good one!

At 6pm on a Sunday evening, we were lucky to grab a spot in front. We sat at the bar which is just inside the entrance. The main room has various tables and chairs in the center, and Victorian style chairs and couches along the front and side walls. There's a small stage area in the back where they host a lot of events. There's also some outdoor patio seating and an event room upstairs. There were good mellow vibes on a non-event night, and there was good music playing. They also have some Halloween décor up. I started out with the Ooogie Boogie (Proper Twelve Apple Irish Whiskey, Manzanilla sherry, Mela apple liqueur, Luxardo del Santo, green apple juice, simple syrup, $15). This was absolutely delicious and not sweet at all. It has a few layers of crisp, slightly tart, apple flavor. You would never guess this is an Irish whiskey cocktail. She started out with the Deadly Nightshade (butterfly peaflower-infused Centanario Plata tequila, Tott's Champaigne, Crème de Violette, Van Gough Blueberry & Acai vodka, Salers gentian amaro, butterfly peaflower syrup, lime super-juice, $15). This drink is pretty large, is well balanced, and has some complexity. She loved it. We shared Jack, The Pumpkin King (400 Conejos mezcal, triplum, chipotle-pumpkin syrup, lime super-juice, $15). This was a solid mezcal margarita with a light pumpkin flavor and a hint of heat. The rim is a mix of cinnamon, turbinado sugar, and salt which was tasty. Bartender Zoe was awesome! She was so friendly, and we enjoyed discussing cocktails and various other topics with her. All three drinks were great, and a bargain at only $15. We will definitely return soon to try out some of their regular menu cocktails.

Folks should be aware this place is capable of treating you with disrespect in person, then when you mention the poor treatment in a TikTok comment, they'll respond without taking accountability and dismissing your experience. They will then ultimately block you - presumably because too many people liked your comment. You guys, that's embarrassing. You need to do better. My comment was completely respectful and an honest concern for how I was treated the one time I ventured in with a friend. Deleting feedback you don't like, customer concerns, and then further blocking those people (I hadn't written anything else. I only noticed because I clicked on the notification that someone liked my comment and saw I was now blocked) makes you look shady and guilty. I'm not a bot, and I explained a very real, possibly discriminatory experience at your bar. If anyone reading would like to know the experience: It was October 21, 2024. A Monday. I should've written this review then but I didn't have anything nice to say, and didn't want to trash this place when it seemed they were struggling due to what the bartender said. I was going through a really tough time, having just canceled my wedding about a month earlier. It was my first outing after a month+ of deep depression. My friend came to rescue me and take me out. I had been meaning to try this place since moving to Long Beach. It was fairly early in the evening, probably around 8pm or so and it was pretty slow. There was music and two couples dancing. We grabbed a table and I went to the bar to get us drinks. As I stood at the bar, some guys had come up alongside me to wait as well. The bartender looked over me and promptly took their orders. I barely had any emotion left in me at the time so I didn't care, and just waited to be next. However, I waited. And waited. And waited. The bartender seemed to be intentionally ignoring me (now the only person standing at the bar). I watched him busy himself with other drinks for the tables, for the guys, and continue to ignore me. Time ticked by and I started to wonder if I was doing something wrong. My friend kept looking over at me from the table like what is taking so long? Minutes and minutes passed as I stood there awkwardly, being blatantly ignored. After a long stretch of time, the bartender quickly said something in my direction like, "If you want to order you're going to have to go to the other end of the bar." I said, "Oh ok thank you." And walked to the other end of the bar. From this point, I was ignored and talked about (full male bar staff) without being looked at. They rudely discussed in front of me how I was standing there, and how each one of them wasn't going to take my order. It had been over a half hour at this point, and I was the only one who had been standing at the bar. It was a slow Monday night. Because I was a broken hearted loser at the time, I started to tear up. Why was I being treated like this? Am I not someone they want in their bar? Is this place not queer or woman friendly?? Why is every other person getting served, while I am blatantly dismissed? After almost 40 minutes, the bartender on that end told me he wasn't going to take my order, and I'd have to go back to the other side again. I quietly walked back over to the other side, feeling so embarrassed and just wanting to leave. It was ridiculously clear I wasn't welcome here, though I had no idea why. I remained standing there for maybe another 10 minutes. The original guy finally relented and begrudgingly took my drink order. He was standoffish at first, until he realized I wasn't upset about any of it. He started to apologize, saying he was brand new, and told me some of the staffing issues they had had that night. He seemed stressed. He recognized he had served the guys before me, and I had been ignored for way too long. He apologized again, and poured us an extra shot in our drinks to make up for the poor treatment. The drinks honestly were terrible lol, but I can only complain about so much. Plus he gave us double the alcohol, so I guess I was grateful. We left immediately after and went somewhere else. I haven't been back since. I wish I could share screenshots of my TikTok comment with the owner's dismissive reply, so you could see for yourselves whether you think that deserved being blocked. She even liked one of my reels from my page? Very odd. People are going to share the truth about their experiences at your establishment, and for you to deny that and block them is wild. You could've responded in a very different way, but you chose to be defensive and shady. That's on you.

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. After a while, she informed us that the crispy rice we ordered was sold out. She mentioned that the bartender was supposed to let us know, but he never did. What made the experience more uncomfortable was that the bartender seemed to be giving most of his attention to the Caucasian customers on the other side of the bar. We were the only Asian customers there, and unfortunately, this left us feeling like we were being treated differently because of our race. The good food and drinks helped compensate for the poor service, so we decided not to let it ruin our evening. However, things got even more disappointing at the end. After I paid, I noticed that I had been charged for the crispy rice even though we never received it. When our server tried to address the issue, the bartender appeared to ignore both her and us, so we eventually left. I hope management sees this review and reaches out to me to address the overcharge and the overall experience. Overall, although the food and drinks were good, the service and the way we were treated left a very negative impression. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

I caution that the memory has not gone stale, but it is also not mountain fresh. But on the whole this review will glow like the light on top on Angel's hat (I forget what it is called) so mostly good feelings remain. And what is the famous quote- one tends to remember how a rooftop bar made them feel, not all it said. Plus, this place can hold a random Friday night, but I think most people go here when they have a festive need, like a birthday, or a score of a lifetime. A woman nearby was dressed to the nine. I am not capable of judging her outfit or her style or her accessories. But she got ready to paint the town red. That in itself is an accomplishment. She went out looking fora good time with clothes and friends that were fabulous. And unless you are a critic for E tv, I think that is the image I want to live from her and her friends. A few tables away, there wa a grup of young women and a male. They had party hats. Small ones. In shades of a muted gold. They were party animals demure for the place. On that note, this place is not one for a rave or a raucous. It is a place to have an elegant good time, and if one wants the noise and funk pumped to the max, then certain party accessories are permitted like small, cone party hats in a shade of gold that is not bling-out rather blinged-in. One of the great things about this bar is the views. Duh, I know. Like what roof top bar does not have a great view. So i should say that this bar has a specific view that marries the ocean with industrial life. So in LA, when one is in a rooftop bar, like Perch or 71 and above one sees stretches of famous skyline buildings, with helapads and lights both outside and illuminating empty boardrooms. When in Santa Monica, like in Elephante, one sees the darkness of a beache's night. The darkness is not punctured by the lights of a city alive at night. But here one sees both the notes of a city besides water, but the darnkness of the night being pierced by the lights of a city who also pulses with brim at night. I tried to convey this actual feeling with the pictures I took. I have an iphone 17 air. The pictures are suppose to capture what the shooter intends. So was I succesful? The lens of a reader's eye now has to determine the answer to ths question. The place is rather small. Not lke tiny. But, there is defintetly a floor space issue. Like I cannot see where dancing can happen if they chose to have it. There was a DJ. And he was dropping beats. But they created more a vibe than a reason to get up and dance and shuffle in rhythmn. The line to the bar gets long. Not like getting into a club with bouncers long but it took me awhile to get my Bee's Knees. That was not a drink that they offer but one that they created for me. The bartender I wanted to put some glow above his name, but I forgot it. But he was good, kind, attentive, and made me feel seen amongsgt the crows. Despite my lack of name, if he consistentyl perfom to this level he will be just fine. The place uses a stone as weight so napkins do not fly away.

Will never go back and by the way you need shades in those windows in the Sun!! is too strong to seat customers in the sun window radiating so much heat on you. Yes you gotta afford to put a few shades seat if possible just kill some of the sun out of the customers shoulders or back and it's too bright. You cannot even see the person in front of you and the scale from 1-10 I give it a rating " 3 "!!! Don't get me wrong. You do have very good service for my observation is too bad. It wasn't our table fix it before it's broken.

Perfectly prepared steak and eggs. Great drinks, even the ice tea was delicious. Upstairs patio is nice for brunch. The indoor dining room was beautiful.

They brought a little carafe of water for us, which was appreciated, as the food was very delicious but there is always the salt factor! Our server let me tweak my order and it was the most delicious burger meal I've ever eaten! Presentation was beautiful- the server who delivered it said my version of the plate looked so good she was going to get it that way for herself!! My brother got his favorite 908 burger with a wedge salad. The food is consistently good and prepared as ordered. Prices are on the higher end for many items but for the fish dishes and prime rib it's worth it. You can also get brunch items, appetizers and smaller bites for less money.

We started with the bone marrow and spicy tuna stack. Loved how rich and fatty the bone marrow was, and the tuna stack had a really good crunch and spice to it. That one felt a little pricey for what you get, but I still enjoyed it. We both ordered the picanha, and it was delicious. Cooked just right, and I really liked the sauce on the side. The broccolini was good too, along with the skinny, crispy fries! We were seated right away, our server was kind and attentive, and it's always nice sitting out on the patio. We'll keep coming back here and there, but it's definitely a dinner you'll spend a bit on.
