Have you been to Cup Cafe? No...well you should take the time to go!! I feel like it's a Tucson classic and a must. It's located in the historic Hotel Congress, has a quaint inside and nice outside patio. Here's a few things to note: if you are going on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning... you are going to have to wait (I would recommend a reservation). But I think it's worth it. Out of the 6-7 times I've been here, I've only had one mishap (which was with the being skipped/left off the waiting list). But for me all the good times out weighed the one bad; plus they were extremely apologetic once they realized it. The food here has never disappointed! Always fresh, hot, and bursting with flavor. One of my favorites is the Huevos Rancheros and up second is Chilaquiles Verde! The last time I was here for brunch with a friend our waiter was "Just n" (per the receipt). He was by far the best waiter I've ever had here. He was extremely knowledgeable about the food, was continually checking in on us and making sure everything met and surpassed our standards. A huge shout out and thank you to Justin! Did I fail on taking pictures this time... yes. But, will I get them next time... for sure! Personal preference.... any chance Cup Cafe can expand their patio? Would love more outdoor space, practical?... only they will know! read more

Two words: baked eggs. In more detail: I would die for these baked eggs. They are so freaking good. I can't force myself to order anything else when I go there for breakfast. The baked eggs are a solid 5/5. The downside is that it's always a pretty long wait on weekends. Plan ahead for having to wait. It's worth the wait though. Breakfast is their solid meal offering. Lunch and dinner I am less impressed with. Still good but not baked eggs good. There's several vegetarian options but they just aren't as interesting or exciting as the baked eggs. If they could apply the same creativity to vegetarian lunch and dinner options I would be thrilled! At the end of the day, I think they're a solid Tucson staple. They have history and charm you can only get in a local long-lived establishment. read more

Historical location and a really cool place to bring people visiting Tucson for the first time. Incredible food with an even better ambiance. Best brunch spot in Tucson. read more

I love the Cup! Nice menu, lots to choose from. Awesome lattes are only made better by sitting in the patio surrounded by succulents and trees. Service could have been a little better this time. You can't beat perfectly cooked eggs and mimosas. I would probably be a regular if I didn't live across town from here. read more

This is our second time to the Cup Cafe. Deciding between three and four stars was difficult. The first time ventured into the Cup Cafe was for dinner. We were not impressed at all. The food was in my opinion over priced and not very good. It wasn't bad, -- though mine sauce did have a gelatin film over it -- but it wasn't good either. If this had been the only time we had gone there I would have rated it two stars. We ended up going back because the place where we wanted to go for breakfast was closed and we were hungry. The meal was much better and much more reasonably priced. The service was pretty good. The best part of the place though, is the atmosphere. It has a laid back hip vibe to it. If you go I suggest breakfast or lunch, skip the dinner. read more

This place has excellent potential! Quality of the food was good, but could use some modifications (extra gravy, shorter cooking time for the eggs). Portions are not very large, but the food is filling. Perhaps The plates are just too big? Either way the prices seem a little high for the portions too. Didn't partake this time, but the drinks looked fantastic! Well be enjoying next time! read more

A favorite spot of ours for brunch, lunch and dinner. The service is always phenomenal and the food is delicious. And on the weekends they have bands in their beautiful courtyard. The jazz bar is also a lot of fun! read more

We came here on a Friday night and the food was so good! They had several vegan options for us including cauliflower tacos which were divine. We will go back and try the other vegan options next time. I had the Ghost Orchid drink which I love and get every single time I come here. The Heartbreaker is a plate of goodness with roasted garlic, brie, apples, bread, artichokes and orange marmalade. No matter if you sit at the bar, out on the patio or inside this place has got a great vibe. Keith the bartender is a great guy who can mix you up a tasty drink! If you haven't been here, you need to go! read more

We always have fun and a great meal when visiting the Cup. Deserts are beyond wonderful!

I've been coming to the Cup for about 13 years... since I was a freshman in college! Back then, I loved the cool old-school hipster vibe, it made me feel hip and smart. Now I love going because the food is great and the ambiance has remained fun and authentic. My favorite item there is their Sonoran Dog (hot dog wrapped in bacon and piled with all sorts of goodness), and it's always fantastic. For a lunch that doesn't come from a bag or out of a microwave, I think the $9 pricetag is reasonable. I never get tired of looking at the penny-filled floor (something you have to see to believe) or the wine-bottle chandeliers. Service is good, and it's not usually swamped so you don't have to wait for a table (a good thing with the downtown lunch crowd). After lunch I always like to do a quick walk through it's parent building, the Hotel Congress... famous for John Dillinger, old Tucson glamor, and ghost sightings. If the front desk staff aren't busy, they might even give you a tour! I love snapping a few iPhone photos, two of which I included in the Hotel Congress photos page. I imagine I'm going to be coming here for another 13 years and beyond! read more

Today I give the cup a one star. We went to have some coffee and drinks on the patio and the manager kicked us off the table because we didn't want to order food. He didn't even ask us he told us, "If you're not going to order food, can you move so we can sit others". If only he had asked politely. It was very embarrassing. So we definitely will rethink our next visit. read more

Descent little breakfast spot. This is one of the things you just have to do in Tucson, either stay at Hotel Congress or eat here. It was a good atmosphere and I was surprised how easy it was to get seats with our three kids. The food was pretty good... anytime you get to put fruit on your food it's delicious! The pancakes were really dry but the French toast were awesome. I'll have to go back and try some more stuff overall I enjoyed it and the noise level wasn't too bad either. read more

Ahhh the Cup Cafe. This used to be my favorite place in town to eat morning, noon and night. They have changed chefs over the past 1-2 years. Some menu item favorites have disappeared, one being the goat cheese artichoke crostini and the herbed shroom. The appetizer "the heartbreaker" has been a favorite of mine that has been slightly altered. As it now includes a spicy orange marmalade. The roasted garlic is still perfect as is the warm brie in this yummy appetizer. The Hotel Salad is delicious! They still have some of the best desserts in town which includes the raspberry cheesecake and tres leches. I will always be a fan of the Cup. read more

I am in Tucson for the day and I was advised to check this place out for good coffee and breakfast...dude so amazeballs... 1) the place is full of artwork and it's phenomenal to look at... 2) fantastic service (albeit a little hipster snobbery) 3) coffee was hot and my mug was never allowed to go empty 4) the food I ordered was delicious...fresh, flavorful, plant based food. I checked out the entrees around me and the art on the walls isn't the only art in this joint They have a huge outdoor seating area reminiscent of So Cal/Nor Cal style. The menu is varied and choices for everyone . My bill came to 14.05 which was for coffee and my entree. The next time I come to Tucson I am going to enjoy a leisurely brunch here and then go to 4th ave to browse the bookstores. I suggest you do the same! read more

I met my hubby here after work. We typically come here for Sunday Brunch and the food is always on point!! I highly recommended the Tucson Dip! What I don't recommend is the Fish and Chips!! Yuck!!! It was bland and had absolutely no flavor!! I was so hungry I immediately started eating it. I hate to waste food and money. If it had not been for the Old Fashion drinks at the outside patio bar I would have sent it back. read more

The best breakfast in Tucson. Hands down!!! Their tofu scramble is the best I have ever had and comes with house made vegan sausage (incredible!), toast, potatoes (I like to sub it out for sliced tomatoes) and a coffee cup of fruit! It is a big breakfast, but light and so delicious that you want seconds! C switches it up and tries a lot of different things, but is always impressed. On weekends it gets busy so they have a bloody Mary bar while you wait. Trust me, it makes the time pass! If you sit at the bar, Justin is awesome. He is a talented bartender and a good conversationalist. Nick is the best server! He is prompt, friendly and you can just tell when someone is an all-around outstanding person. Their patio is dog friendly, their drinks are stiff and they have more character than most places in Tucson. I repeat, Best breakfast in town! read more

My favorite fish and chips. They are always served fresh and are very crisp and tasty! The fries are the best. The atmosphere is fun and energized. Not a good place for a quiet meal. Outdoor seating is plentiful and in high demand. I recommend that you share a meal so you can also share their amazing dessert! I eat here several times a month. The breakfast is fantastic! Expect a wait on Sundays. Well worth it! They even have a Bloody Mary Bar! Yummy! The new chef added Pasole to the menu (May have spelled that wrong). It is amazing but is only served as a du jour item for now. read more

This is where my husband and I go when we want to make a meal time special. I love the old hotel setting with the funky decorating in the lobby, tile in the restaurant and the nice patio area outside. I am vegan and my husband is not but we can both find plenty to eat in the way of entrees at this restaurant. Yesterday we had brunch/lunch there. I had the delicious tofu scramble and my husband had fish and chips under the umbrella on the patio while it rained. Just perfect. Great meal. Great ambiance. Can't go wrong here. read more

Cup Cafe - The tofu scramble here is just right, the fruit is super fresh, potatoes toast and vegan sausage round out breakfast. - New American Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

I love outdoor patios, and this has to be one of the best locations in town, since it's right in the heart of downtown. The atmosphere was vibrant filled with people from all walks of life. We ordered the peloponeese appetizer, which consists of roasted pepper hummus, jalapeno, eggplant, feta, a cucumber and tomato salad, all with a warm toasty pita. The plate disappeared quickly as we devoured and savored every bite. I had the pork tacos for my entree, and it was an awesome deal for $7, since it came with three tacos. It was sort of like a spring roll with all the fresh ingredients. The distinct flavors of jicama, pickled peppers, cilantro aioli on top of the crispy pork belly on the tortilla all blended together to make for one scrumptous dish. The Cup Cafe is definitely worth checking out! read more

My boyfriend and I love coming here. Their breakfast (served till 4 pm? Hallelujah!) is amazing, and their pancakes are killer. So excited that Cup Cafe brought the bagels and lox back to the menu!!! 5 star breakfast/brunch experiwnceall the way here- don't miss it!

Tucson Arizona's downtown Diamond. The menu and the food, the cocktails, the staff, and the atmosphere are just top shelf. Spotless every visit. Not to mention, the entire building's history is phenomenal and captivating. Beautifully maintained period decor. Artwork photography is eye candy. And most can be purchased. Simply any flavor palette will be satisfied at Cup Cafe. Oh, did I mention the dessert case? Decadent, and sinfully tempting cakes and pies and specialty desserts. An absolute flavor treasure chest of Tucson town! read more

It's a very nice restaurant with open seating (also outside). The seating can get a bit cramped (especially during rush times). If you live or work in downtown Tucson (or you're a snowbird) then go, it's a pretty neat place. Pros: - Good people watching place - Good menu variety - Good service Cons: - It's downtown (it's downtown in a sprawling city) - Parking is not good - Prices are a bit high for café-esque food (because they're downtown) read more

The Cup Cafe is a solid local Tucson spot to grab a bite while hanging out downtown. The location is ideal for walking around before or after you eat, and Hotel Congress is a cool historic venue all in itself. Though it's usually busy (which should be really all you need to know as far as popularity goes), I have never experienced a long wait or rushed, stressed out staff. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming, and you can grab a drink while you wait which is totally a plus! There are a decent amount of meat-free options for those of us who don't eat meat, and you can get breakfast until 4pm, which is amazing in my book. My favorite dish is the tofu scramble, hands down. Not all of the dishes have left me completely satisfied in flavor or execu, but once you find your favorite you're good to go. All in all, if you're looking for a food spot that's quintessentially Tucson in feeling and atmosphere, this is it. read more

i have mixed feelings about the Cup. I have probably have eaten there more times than I can count in the last 20 years plus, and have seen it in many shapes and forms. I miss the old funky cup with the weird bathroom in the corner and the circus painting hanging from the ceiling. Breakfast is the best time to go I think, I do however miss the buckwheat pancakes that I ate at least twice a week for years. The evening menu is a little overpriced and the food is okay but not great. If you are going there at night it is mostly for the atmosphere. All in all I eat there just the same. read more

When in the downtown area and you're looking for a great meal visit Hotel Congress; historical building very nice ambience, just a very well put together place to eat not only do they offer breakfast from 7 AM to 4 PM but they also have wonderful dinner menu. After walking all over downtown this is where we settled and we are very satisfied with the food the wing staff and the mimosa's. I would suggest trying the Creole breakfast or there's three egg omelette, or the world famous egg bake; trust me you'll leave full as a tick :) can't wait to go back again and I would suggest this place to anyone!! read more

So this one is part of the Yelp has an app for that food fight. Ill be posting a review just for the app and then I'll update at a later time once I actually have a full blown meal here!. This was the 14th stop!! Whoa! So we looked online and whatever we found said this place was closed at 4. I was bummed I was going to miss it. But after eating at Maynards the bartender told us they may just close down mid day and reopen later. So we went to take a look and sure enough they were open. The app: Pistolero Crudo - Beer braised and mesquite smoked beed tongue, house-pickled onions , spicy mustard and cilantro on a potato roll First off, the house-pickled onions were dee-lish! the color was reddish and the flavor was profound. The actual beef tongue itself is another of those items I have never tasted before hand. I never thought of doing anything like this with beef tongue so great job on Chef Peter's behalf. The potato roll was fluffy and worked well with the rest of the dish. I was totally diggin it! They even served 2 with the app so that scored some more points because some places have really chinced out. I gave this one 4 out of 5 stars! Side note: There are approximately 177,000 pennies on the floor of this place, including a few steel ones. read more

I came here for brunch with a friend and located inside hotel congress. It started off pretty busy especially inside. We had to kill some time at the bar while waiting for a seat. Which I didn't mind since I was able to try their infamous Bloody Mary. We sat outside which was better then inside and feeling suffocated. That fresh air was much needed and enjoyable. I ordered a congressional omelet and made a chorizo, mushroom and spinach omelet. It was quite delicious and filling especially with the side well seasoned potatoes. The service was a little slow, I had to grab my own water and hot sauce. Wasn't sure if it was our waiter that wasn't doing so well. Anyways we ended with a carrot cake which was pretty good. Nothing bad wrong with it. Not overly sweet just perfect. I may give this place another try. Maybe I'll get a better server next time. read more

In a crafty scheme to cheat me out of a meal I visited this place for a meal known as brunch. I still don't know if I was robed of breakfast or lunch. Before our meal everyone visited the bar for a create your own bloody Mary, Options included, pickles, blue cheese, goat cheese avocados salsa and more. $8 As a drink I am not a fan, call it a gazpacho and give me a spoon and I am in. After a decent wait we were seated, in a half booth half table combination, The booth side while looking padded is not, it is just as hard as a wood chair. Breakfast items can be ordered all day, while lunch items do not begin until 11. We opted for the Challa time! which is vanilla french toast made with challa $9. And the special a "green machine" omelette. $9.75. The omelette came with country style potatoes and toast. The omelette was fluffy and the spinach and feta were nice but I was hoping for more veggies. The potos were pack full of basil goodness. The challa time dish was good but it bit monotonous and one note. Services was mediocre but we did eventually get everything we needed. The live music and ambiance in the bar area is the real star and reason for coming here. read more

Located inside the very busy Hotel Congress is Cup Cafe. We stopped in for breakfast today and had a typical bacon and egg breakfast that was cooked perfectly. Often I don't get my eggs cooked medium like I gotta have them. This time perfect and I'm picky. You don't have to opt for typical eggs and bacon though. They have great peppered bacon to go with Tiur breakfast. Many items in the menu would be delightful if not decadent. Keeping down my calories I visually enjoyed a multitude of tantalizing dishes. All portion were large and could be easily shared. The only negative is that our table was near a door going to the outside patio. Each time the door opened I would get a small blast off heat even though it was still early in the day. This is Arizona summer you know. And with this busy restaurant don't take the table by the patio door unless you can take the warmth of a revolving door. Also make sure you set reservations ahead. At 11 am there were dozens waiting for an open table this weekend. If you are staying at the hotel they will make a breakfast reservation. They take dinner reservations for everyone. read more
