Inside Hotel Congress dwells Cup Cafe; a sweet eatery serving up some delectable bites. We came for brunch after a long night and I shot straight for their coffee. You can get it either to-go or stay for some food. I was hungry so I ordered the Creole Breakfast; two eggs any style, Andouille Sausage, biscuits with sausage gravy, and hotel potatoes. The sausage had a hint of bite, but not too strong while the biscuits were quite dry. Thank goodness for the gravy which helped with some texture and allowing the biscuit to soak it up. The hotel potatoes were well seasoned, but definitely needed some hot sauce with mines. In the end, Cup Cafe delivered what it needed to regarding breakfast/brunch. Low-key one of our favorite breakfast/brunch/dinner spots in town. The food is always amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, and it's a local institution. Service can sometimes hit some hiccups, but in the morning I'm never in a rush so we really just relax. I'm a fan of most of their cocktails, and the cake case is to die for. Alex was our server and his sense of humor was dry but that's what made it fun. He definitely had many recommendations and they were all yummy. We got their make your own mimosas for the table and yea that's the best way to go! They gave us 4 different juices (grapefruit, strawberry, blood orange, orange juice) and of course some fruit to add to the top. All of their food was really well seasoned and the atmosphere is definitely what encompasses Tucson as it is in the Hotel Congress. The only thing that annoyed me was that they accommodated another table that arrived after us who had three less people in their party. After 3 pervious attempts to get into the Cup Cafe we finally hit a day when it wasn't over filled. It's located in the Hotel Congress. We started with the soup of the day, tomato bisque. Creamy and delicious with just the right amount of seasonings. Next I had the Beyond burger with poblano peppers. This is a veggie burger done right on a brioche bun. It's a high end veggie burger. Had a salad with it and feta dill dressing that was thick and interesting! My pretty wife Nickoise salad: it's a nice mix of greens with seared tuna. It came with a light lemon vinaigrette. Very nice. It's good but it's also pricy for what you get. Given that, I'll be back anyway. read more

We stopped by Cup Cafe since they reopened after closing for a while due to COVID to eat on their patio. Decided to go early to avoid the crowds and it was wonderful! Tables were spaced out and their patio provides lots of shade from the trees. We had the Huevos Rancheros, Cast Iron Skillet Eggs, and Pancakes all of which were fantastic. The portions were huge, with the Huevos Rancheros I was given basically an entire potato so I was very full and probably could've easily split food. It took me longer than it should have to try Cup Cafe. I worried at first that it wouldn't live up to the hype (I had heard a *lot* of hype) but it was better than I could have expected. I've been there a handful of times now, and each time is an awesome experience! First things first; their Michelada/Bloody Mary bar is heaven sent. I love that you can customize so many ways! Plus, you can have a drink while you wait for a table. It makes the sometimes 30-40 minute wait much more pleasant. In fact, when I meet up with friends we're more than happy to sit and play card games in the waiting area with our Micheladas. I've ordered different things each time and I have yet to be disappointed by anything I've ordered. I highly recommend their pecan pie for dessert if they have it! Absolutely delicious. I had been coming here for years and always enjoyed the amazing fries and Cesar salad. Both no longer exist on the menu. They replaced the fires with beer battered fries! Disgusting! I have a gluten intolerance. They changed the Cesar salad to a southwest Cesar salad. There is nothing Cesar about that salad. It's just a way to get away with putting ice berg lettuce in an over priced salad. I'm so disappointed. If they don't bring back the old menu, I won't be back. Overpriced Mothers Day Brunch I booked this three course meal a few weeks in advance having never been there. Well we could only get in at 1pm. So I booked it. $55 per person which didn't include drinks. If I had been able to see the menu in advance I wouldn't have reserved there. There were many of us there. The salad (first course) was good. It was very complex with all various kinds of carrots and tomatoes etc. Very tasty. But there was a small fried thing on top. It was so cold. And pretty tasteless. No salt or seasoning. I added salt, that made it edible. My aunt ordered the vichyssoise apparently tasteless too, she had to add salt and pepper. Most of us ordered the crab eggs Benedict. Not great because it was so cold like it had been sitting out forever. The crab was some kind of crab salad, I guess. Stone cold. Tasteless and very little crab. Then my poor mother ordered the tofu Thai noodles. She didn't like it and hardly ate any. The tofu was over cooked and almost burnt. The noodles were tasteless. My friend got the tamale pie thing. She is vegetarian. Which I indicated when booking. I came served with a huge mass of scrambled eggs on top and meat inside. She ate it anyway. The menu description didn't list meat in the dish. Then the third course was a kiwi mousse. It was good. But there were no choices. Overall I was unimpressed with the food. The best thing there was the service. I left 20% for our nice server. The place was very small and crowded with tiny little tables. Also we arrived somewhat early. The hostess was rude and wouldn't seat us until it was the exact time our reservation was for. Which was fine, she could have been more diplomatic. Overall the cost for the whole thing was astronomical. I wouldn't even let my mother see the bill or she would have been incredulous. read more

Cool location with a unique, cozy vibe indoors. The outside area looked appealing as well but we ate inside. Our server Emery and the wait staff in general were very good. Surprisingly, the food skewed more "average" than I was expecting, especially since they are associated with the outstanding Maynard's across the street. Perhaps I didn't order to their strengths - we ordered the Fish 'N' Chips and Salmon Caprese - and both dishes were good, but nothing special. We also had high hopes for the Peppermint Oreo Cheesecake, but it was also rather one dimensional. We will probably come back because it is a great spot. Water refills were prompt without having to ask. $50 tab yielded a $10+ tip. The wait for food wasn't long. Fish & Chips were perfect. No vinegar was offered. Everything was hot. Order came with two lemon wedges, tiny tartar sauce and ketchup serving. Super tiny. Fellow diner's salad was a 7 out of 10. This was a good experience. The staff work hard to make this a viable and upscale dining experience. Being too quick is a sign of other issues so it just detracted a bit. read more

The employees here are so nice! My last gathering with my girls for brunch was here! They have build your own Bloody Mary or mimosa! It's delish and fancy! They do have quite a wait for brunch especially on the weekend. For big parties I highly suggest getting there early because they do not take over the phone reservations. The Congress Hotel interior is historically cool, so that's already a bonus. We didn't stay here but did have a chance to look around a bit. The tables are on the small side, but miraculously fit in all of our dishes without a disaster ensuing. I was opting between two dishes, but upon recommendation got the Cast Iron Baked Eggs with ham, leeks, shallots, Gruyere, and cream. GET THIS DISH. I want to try to recreate it at home. It's served with a side of potatoes and toast as well. Plus, I ordered a side of bacon because why not? I liked that they diced the potatoes smaller and the options of hot sauces were unique and delicious. I ate nearly everything and washed it down with the iced horchata coffee I ordered. I was so full I didn't need to eat again until dinner. We only waited for about 20 minutes, but it fills up fast so there's likely to be a longer wait the later you go. There is a parking garage across the way if you don't find street parking. We were there the night before and they said they don't take reservations, but to call ahead and get on the list, which we did, but they said they didn't have a list and just come in. But other reviews say they don't take reservations, so maybe try? Either way, it's the perfect breakfast spot. read more

His mind was immediately changed when he heard the special - chorizo hash with cilantro chipotle hollandaise and poached eggs (something like that). He's usually skeptic all about chorizo but said this was excellent. I went with avocado toast for something lighter than I originally planned. The toast was so fresh and fluffy! Came for lunch on a weekday, and the place was popping. A friend already had a table waiting for us, but it seemed they usually have a wait for lunch. You can get breakfast for lunch, and my friend got the Cast Iron Baked Eggs, which she loved. Unfortunately, she found a dark, curly hair in her dish, which is kind of gross, but hey, it happens. Our server took care of it. I had an Arbuckle iced tea (very good) and got the Cubano with the soup du jour for the side. The soup was Zuppa Toscana and was very good, but it definitely should have been hotter. I am guessing the cup sat for a bit before our food was brought out. The Cubano sandwich was really tasty. Our service was pretty solid and the prices are fair for most dishes. I was checking out the salads though, and those seem expensive for what they are. $13 to add salmon to a salad, making it almost $30 seems a little steep! I'm not downtown often, but I would return. Next time, I will save room for some of the very tasty-looking desserts too! read more

Sampled this- Suncliffe Gin, Heirloom Crème De Flora, Lemon, Honey, Orange Bitters, Marigold. Was attending a concert at hotel congress so selected something easy- fish & chips. Rut roh. Soggy fries big time. Spicy coleslaw bordering on "Was this still fresh". The 3 cod chunks were nothing close to golden - heavily browned was more like it. Disappointed indeed. I sipped no more than an inch of my cocktail and the (I believe knowing) waiter never asked about it before I closed out. I love Cup! Such a cute little restaurant in the Hotel Congress. It can get very crowded on holidays for good reason. They often offer creative holiday menus that are meticulously designed for the brunch foodie in mind. They are also open conveniently when most restaurants downtown are not, as early as 7 am on the weekends. Parking available on the street in front of the hotel or in the back lot through a gated fence. I'm a big fan of the silverside hash which is corned beef hash topped with hollandaise sauce on a bed of potatoes. The Congress potatoes are always perfectly done and well seasoned. Sometimes they have live music playing. Service is always prompt. It's not the cheapest meal, but you absolutely get what you pay for in terms of reliable service and delicious food. read more

I moved to Tucson June 2020, during the pandemic shutdown, hence, did't get to explore all Tucson has to offer. Well, now that the city has begun to open, I was able to meet with new friends at Cup Cafe, in the Hotel Congress. LOVED IT! We went on a Sunday, for brunch. The patio was wonderful. There was a jazz trio playing in the background, and it was a refreshing, relaxed atmosphere. The whole staff was very friendly and accommodating. The Chiliquilla Verde was perfect and very delicious. They even customized my cold brewed latte. Sitting in the patio of this historic hotel, under the shade trees, with good friends, food, and music, just couldn't get any better than that. I am new here to the Old Pueblo, and when my friends come to visit me, I know where I will take them to show them what Tucson is all about. read more

I am vegan and I feel so incredibly grateful for the DELICIOUS vegan options - I love the lettuce wraps & the cauliflower tacos. I can't wait to see them expand their options beyond 4! Pancakes were perfectly soft and flavored with cinnamon. I added blueberries but would like the option to add whipped cream- maybe it's the kid in me, but I love pancakes topped with it.
