We dined at this Culver's location many times and have always been pleased with the service and the food that we have received. The dining room has been updated in the last year or so with a variety of seating options; booths tables, high-top tables. The young people at the registers are always friendly and professional. and the servers are fine as well. The place has always been clean when we have visited, and the restrooms are in good order. Food is prepared to order, and is usually a good value. Looking to eat cheap? Go for the Snack Pack Meals, the servings are smaller, but enough for a lunch meal. Have enjoyed and recommended Culver's for years, The most recent visits have been disappointing: Prior visit ordered two sandwiches and two orders of onion rings. One was a "deluxe" double butter burger which is supposed to come with tomato, lettuce, and onion. The amount of those three items were negligible. We also discovered when we got home with the order the onion rings were small regular sizes. Most recent experience was last night. I ordered a sour dough melt sandwich. Looked real good on the menu board. What I received was two overcooked, dry burger patties and thin slices of bread that looked like cheap sandwich bread. So we decided to go and get some frozen custard and specifically a Concrete from the Hiawatha Culver's. We ordered 1 large with 3 ingredients and 2 small and they also had 3 ingredients. We were asked to pull up and wait. No problem it shouldn't be long there were only 3 or 4 other cars there at the time. After a while we started to wonder if they forgot or something, but them our order cAme out. Then we noticed our large was made as a mini. We asked the server to fix the order. He said kind of sternly.. do you have a receipt. We said we weren't handed one. He took the mini back in a while later he came back with a medium. We told him we asked for a large. He then explained that we were wrong and that it was a medium and left. I was stunned. I guess I will have a medium. I paid over 15.00 and while it did taste great the experience left a taste in my mouth that I didn't like. I didn't make a bigger deal because I didn't want to destroy the trip with the family. I learned that if I want to go to Culver's I will just have to go to Marion. Probably the same people own it, but I've not had an issue there. I'm in the service industry and I always treat the customer like they are alway right. I believe that with out a customer I don't have a job. That kid probably did what his manager told him to do. I don't blame him, I'm sure he was told to do and say a lot of things to other customers that he wasn't excited to say and do. He didn't look like he was very happy. The food was good. I would decrease the amount of salt that offer for free to your customers, my friend here took about 15 packets and that could severely impact her health in the future. However, my food was very good. The environment created was nice and our servers had positive attitudes. A little expensive. Another downside is that my friend got her food last, around 7 minutes after everyone else. As we have been at the beach recently, my friend here was very hungry. Truly disappointed. Stopped by to pick up double bacon burger with the works BUT without tomato, yesterday. I seen the screen view on drive by order display and double checked with order taker that he has it noted 'no tomato' correct? Yes he says, I have this down. My dis-satisfaction began when I approached the counter and the dull-eyed cashier just stared at me. No greeting. No asking for my order. .. Not cool. Got my order to dine in. Went in search of a place to sit down. No luck for me or the other ten customers who also needed a seat. A Culver's employee handed me a sundae, which began to melt while I waited for a seat, along with ten others. Stopped two employees, asking for help for me and my grandson. No joy. Instead they foisted a tray of food on me. Still no seat. I asked the manager for a refund, he tried to bully me into taking the melted sundae, burgers and fries to go. No deal I said. I wanted a refund. He offered no apology. No remedy at all. So I went to the company website only to discover there is no way to voice your displeasure with a franchise..... Culver's was once my favorite fast food restaurant despite prices higher than other businesses. This particular location produced very good burgers, chicken, and frozen custard. Unfortunately, the quality has gone downhill over the past year for some unknown reason. Burgers are still good but the fried chicken and chicken patties have dropped in quality quite a bit. The sodas seem to be watered down and the frozen custard is rarely any good, sometimes inedible. Of the 3 most recent visits, the custard was either tasteless, full of ice crystals, or soupy. A concert mixer I ordered was so bad I tossed half of it away. You can do better Culver's, and for now, you are off my list of places to go for a quick lunch. read more

You can't get there from here. That's what it appears at this Culver's on N. Center Point Rd. You have to turn at the side street, turn right on the street behind it then turn right into the lot. Only in Hiawatha...home of the world's worst streets planning. If you've ever been on Boysen Rd at 5:00, you know what I mean. Getting through Center Point Rd and on or off I-380 shouldn't be so difficult - and this is after recent improvements. Get a clue (or maybe hire a traffic engineer) Hiawatha! Anyway, where was I? This store has went downhill bad! From getting RAW hamburgers to grease running off the food so bad it bled through the sack onto my car seat. DISGUSTING! I went with coworkers for lunch today. It was the first time I've been to this restaurant. I was a bit skeptical because it looks like a fast food joint. This place reminds me of Burgerville in the Pacific NW because of the high quality fresh sustaining fast food and the great service. So nice that there is a place like Burgerville in Iowa. I got the Cod fillet (1) meal. It was very good and filling. The fillet is large so for me 1 fillet was enough. The service was great. You are given a number which you place at your table. They bring the food right to your table. The staff are very nice. Afterwards, I ordered a Cod Meal to go and the same cashier saw me standing for my to go order and said I could sit down and they would bring the order to me. I decided to stand instead. It took longer than a normal fast food restaurant because they cook everything fresh when it is ordered. So don't expect fast service like McDonalds. Update: I went to Culvers and decided to go through the drive thru. I gave my order: Two banana splits, two single burgers, one rhueben basket with pepsi, and two salads, one with ginger/sesame dressing the other blue cheese dressing. At Culvers, everything is made to order so I knew I would have to wait. A male server came to my car and gave me one banana split and my number. While I waited I looked at my receipt and noticed there was only one banana split. I had ordered two. I went inside the restaurant, it was not busy. There were 4 tables with customers and they already had their food and were eating. There was one car at the drive thu. I told the counter server that I had ordered two banana splits but only got one. I told the server I would be willing to pay for it. He told me it was their mistake so I can get it for free. He made me the banana split and my order was being made by the other two servers. An older lady who was a server told another male server that the order they were working on my order and that I was at the counter. They gave me my order and I was still waiting for my banana split so I went through my order. I noticed there was only one single burger. I looked at the receipt and saw that I had only paid for one single burger when I asked for two. I told the server who made my banana split that I was missing a burger. He went and told another server, perhaps the manager but she didn't introduce herself or her title to me. I said I was missing a burger. She said they could make me a free one. I said I already had a banana split in the car and couldn't wait because it was probably melting. She told me she was sorry about the mistake and told the drive thru servers to make sure they got the orders right. When I got home and went through the food, there were no dressings for the salads! Urg!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would encourage if you go to the drive thu to have the intercom server read back your order to you to make sure it is correct. This doesn't appear to be their protocol or policy which is disapointing since other reviews have remarked about the mistakes with the drive thru. Or even better, go inside so you can check your food right then and there. So, I have to retract my statement about Culver's being as good as Burgerville. Burgerville is still the best. My review goes from 4 stars to 3. My experience with other fast food joints is a dumbfounded look from servers about why I was asking about my order and my fear they would spit in my food if I asked for them to make the items which was missing. Culvers has good customer service when they make a mistake by admitting to the mistake and apologizing. Please work on the drive thru for better service to cusomters. read more

Food was OK, but they can't get a to-go order correct. Asked for a fish sandwich with no tarter sauce and got home and had what looked like extra sauce on it. Not the first time this has happened.
