Decided to stop in on a whim yesterday and enjoyed my meal enough to go there for lunch today. I can agree they're the best sandwich shop in Cedar Rapids. The food was delicious, served hot & speedy, by a cheerful staff. The dining area was clean upon arrival and the room smelt of toasted bread. I liked the faux brick decor. The restroom looked maintained and smelled pleasant. Pictured below is my half small beef dip. It had tender American Wagyu beef, provolone cheese, and mayo on a toasted hoagie. This place reminds me of Ike's in Los Angeles- delicious but overpriced subs make us pay twice the price of Subway. They have crazy stuff like cheesesteak BLTs and Wagyu subs. Ok I have been trying to get my hands on a Bobby for about 10 years now but my downtown location never had any legal parking close to it no matter what day I went over countless times and the store eventually closed so I thought that I would never get one. To my delight I found a store on my way out of CR and I have a yeti cooler so one is going home for dinner. I used to make holiday sandwiches like this with leftovers that I completely enjoyed but mine had real mashed potatoes also. Ok let's break down the Bobbie sandwich voted best sandwich in America, not really but but it's very worthy. The Bobby is fresh hoagie roll which had a chew like Italian bread, mayo, secret seasoning sprinkle that I watched, shredded turkey, cranberry sauce and the jelly style topped with stuffing/dressing. The decor of the store is modern chain sandwich shop. My service was great and the store was opened earlier than advertised. My first impression is that the shredded turkey, not a sliced fake roll is real shredded turkey with a good roasted flavor and later I found out that the store roast real turkey white/dark for the sandwich. The mayo and secret seasoning was completely lost in the sandwich. The stuffing tasted like stove top, kinda familiar, the cranberry sauce was not overly sweet and was the icing on the cake. Ok they are doing everything right with this unique sandwich that the everyday joe can relate to because it's holiday deliciousness every day. This particular branch makes fabulous sandwiches! I always get the vegetarian version of a sandwich and this place never disappoints. So much protein for gains! I have eaten at other branches in other states but I really like the one here in Cedar Rapids cuz they really build the sandwich well, pack it tight so it stays in tact and not falling all over the place. The staff is always friendly and make some great suggestions. They are willing to modify the food as per my requests. Can't quite speak for dine-in experience since I always do a pick up or get the food delivered. 10/10 will go again! read more

Have stopped by twice now, great experience both times. Quick friendly service and very tasty food, all prepared fresh. Takes a few minutes to make your food to order, but worth it. Love having 4 sandwich sizes, can really fit your level of hunger. Have had the grilled Italian and the Italian sausage, wife and sons have had the American wagu cheesesteak. Nice local sandwich shop with cold and warm subs. The staff is extremely friendly greeting you when you walk in and when you leave. We had the hot Italian which is basically Italian cold cuts heated on the grill and then placed on the bun and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The soup was a little expensive at five dollars for about 10 or 11 ounces but it was flavorful. They have lots of interesting offerings and if ever in the area and looking for a quick bite we would definitely stop in again. read more

Capriottis was really a pleasant surprise for me. I have lived on the east coast and love a good Philly cheesesteak. Unfortunately most people don't make anything that tastes close to the real thing. However, Capriotti's steak sandwiches are probably the closest I have come. The steak sandwhich with provolone cheese, onion, peppers and mushrooms really hits the spot. I haven't tried anything else on the menu because I have been happy with my steak sandwhich, but everything else I have seen them make looks good. I ordered a curbside pickup from Capriotti's Sandwich Shop last night and they told me it would be ready at a certain time and I got there at that time and called them and they said they'd be right out with my order but it took 15 more minutes. I got my order and drove home to find that they had left out the coleslaw side order that I had ordered, so I was very disappointed. I ordered their festive sandwich called The Bobbi that had turkey, stuffing, and cranberry sauce on it along with a Balsamic Side Salad and chips. The sandwich was pretty good but the salad was lacking as it looked pretty thin of salad. Overall, my experience at Capriotti's was okay but nothing to brag about. read more

I'm not a big sandwich gal, so I'm definitely to blame for our late discovery of Capriotti's. Well, that and it's weird location off the side of Best Buy at Lindale. For whatever reason, I expected this to be just another Jimmy John's style chain, but I came out impressed. No one ever seems to eat in, but it's not like it's uninviting. The staff are friendly enough and service is quick. The portions are ginormous. A small or maybe a medium should definitely do ya, but I hear the larger sizes are great for sharing. We've been sticking to the Bobbie and the Cheesesteak, but will eventually branch out. The Bobbie is like Thanksgiving any day of the year and fills a special part of my soul as well as my belly lol. I ordered 2 different sandwiches to try, and was disappointed by both. I was so excited to try the Bobbie since it sounds like Thanksgiving on a bun (also was voted one of the best sandwiches in America), and as a "backup" I also ordered the Italian Sub. One major fault on both--the bread was cold, dense, and added nothing to the flavor. The turkey was also very stringy-which is a shame since they promote how they cook the turkey. Those were the downfalls of The Bobbie. Italian-previously mentioned the bad bread, but there was almost no meat on the sandwich (compared to a sandwich at Jersey Mikes), and everything was just dry. I asked for oil/vinegar or a vinaigrette on the sandwich and it was packaged on the side. Didn't get to soak into the ingredients or bread because there wasn't that much of it. I am a deli sandwich addict, could easily give Joey a run for his money (that's a Friends reference). I travel a lot for work and usually look for a good sandwich shop wherever I am, found this place for lunch today and it was great! I got a cheese sub, it came with cheddar, swiss and American cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. I had mayo, oil, vinegar and spices added. The young man who took my order at the counter was very friendly and helpful. In addition to the cheese sub, they have vegetarian meat substitutes available--I have been in many delis in many places and I have never seen that anywhere else--nice to have multiple vegetarian options available. The turkey sandwich with the stuffing and cranberry sauce looks good but I wanted to get back on the road and that seemed like the type of sandwich you really need to eat at a table so I'll have to give it a try some other time. It looks like the meats they use are are prepared and carved fresh rather than those processed loaves you see in most places. I thought the sandwich I got was very good and a good value--way, wayyyy better than a Subway or Jimmy John's, somewhat similar to Jersey Mike's (with the exception of the meat, which I'm guessing is better quality). This is the best quick sandwich place in town. Super fluffy bread, good quality meat piled high, but the toppings are the best part. The spicy pepper chili is not that spicy, more pickled and I always ask for extra so I can just dump it on. Get anything with coleslaw and thousand island dressing and you will be happy. Well first off, it's great to have another sandwich shop in town, always a good thing. I have stopped here twice and both times I had great service..about a 5 min wait. And have been pleased both times. The one thing you have to love about this place is the homemade aspect of it. These sandwiches taste to me like something you would make at home. The turkey is hand chunked turkey like thanksgiving turkey not sliced which is a home run in my book. I also like that you can get any of there sandwiches on either sliced bread or sub bread. I ended up ordering the cole turkey sub. It was hand chunked turkey topped with cole slaw, thousand island dressing, mayo on a soft sub bun. It was great! I have also tried the Philly cheesesteak and that too tasted amazing! I have yet to try the "Bobbie" but I will return soon to try it out. The prices are a bit high but it's a quality sub and they are huge! 18" so you really do get what you pay for. And as a fellow yelper stated. What's the deal with all the wrapping paper?? I had a lunch order catered by Capriotti's for 20 people. They were very prompt and helpful. I had the Italian, the Turkey, the Roast Beef and the Slaw on the Jo. It was commented several times that the roast beef on the two sandwiches were some of the best that they ever had. I totally agree. The condiments with the sandwiches were amazing. I went to this place on a whim. I hadn't heard of this place at all, but figured since I was here and wanted a sandwich I might as well give it a whirl. The restaurant was nice and clean, nice easy to read menu and friendly employees. The sandwich itself was messy because they put cole slaw on it. That made the bread soggy and made the sandwich hard to eat. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, but that messy slaw kind of wrecked it for me. Apparently they have a good Thanksgiving sub (with turkey, cranberries and stuffing on it) which sounds really good. I may go back and give that one a try sometime. It took a while for them to make the sandwich even though they weren't overly busy. I don't know if that's something that is standard or if it just took them a while to make it. It was about ten minutes. Not a bad wait if they're busy, but they weren't and it shouldn't take that long to make a simple sandwich.
