Food = Excellent. Service = Excellent. Been twice now. Vibe is fun but not too loud. My favorite uptown restaurant.

In Charlotte for work and friend recommended culinary dropout. From food to drinks everything was very well done. Would recommend and will be back next time I'm in Charlotte. read more

Culinary Dropout - Pretzel and provolone fondue, Korean style ribeye cap, and Paloma spritz - New American Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

So disappointed! Visited for the first time this week. The wings starter were salty and they didn't have most of the items on the menu. The waiter suggested the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuit (stale) and the coleslaw. I could have stayed home. read more

Wow! Great food and an amazing staff with superb attention to detail. I will dream about the pretzel bites with provolone fondue and the Mississippi mud pie. Even the gochujang brussels sprouts were a huge hit! Ribs were fantastic. Loved the playlist and the live band that came in later. Looking forward to our next visit already! read more

I sat at the bar, and after 5 minutes someone finally came over and handed me a water and menu. After an additional 20 minutes of waiting I had to get someone's attention to take my order. I was literally ignored. The gentleman beside even acknowledged it. I won't make any assumptions but we both felt a little uncomfortable on the possible reasons why. Hopefully others have a better experience than I did. read more

Last night, we went to culinary for my friends birthday. We had a reservation, and did for weeks, yet we still had to wait over 30 minutes for a a tables, we finally got sat and they offered us a free app, so we order that along with drinks and food because we sat for at least another 20-30 minutes to be greeted. After our orders were taken we didn't get drinks until about 15 minutes. Our food finally comes and we notice the "free app" never came out so we let our server know, he brings us a glass of wine that the bar obviously can't sell. He spent at least 30 minutes splitting our check, that was wrong every time We just ended up paying for whatever at that point. By far one of the worst dining experiences I have had. read more

Ambiance and service were great, with friendly staff and live music. My only complaint was the steak frites that took a very long time to come out. And then after it came out, the steak was well done, even though we ordered medium rare. For $30, I expected a better dish. On the other hand, the ribs and Brussels sprouts were delicious. read more

Culinary Dropout - We ordered the bbq nachos, Ribs, and Steak Frites*. - New American Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

Culinary Dropout is a great place to watch the game! It's such a cute restaurant with plenty of TVs. The food is always really good and the customer service do not disappoint. read more

Good Was Average, cocktails were most definitely the star of the night... It's a cute vibe but The wait was unbearable, it was a party of 7 & we were given a wait time of 15-20 minutes then time ending up being almost an hour. We watching a few guest leave sitting at large tables & when asked why we couldn't be seated was told they were short staffed. Had we know that in the beginning we would have went somewhere else. 15-20 and actually being almost an hour is a big timeframe difference read more

Tried a couple of these Tempe and Charlotte they are very consistent great bar seen good drinks good food it is easily a reliable go to for a good time and a good meal. Staff is always fun cordial and the locations are vibrant in the heart of city activities with some in house activities themselves with live music. Would recommend for a good group night out read more

Took over an hour to get our food which was very average. Would never return. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

Absolutely delicious food. Loved the vibe and the live music! Can't wait to come back!!

I was so happy to get the invite to try out this restaurant prior to its official opening. I had seen it coming for a while and I was not disappointed! The food was so good, from the appetizer to the dessert. I've had my share of nachos and these were some of the best I've ever tasted. Everything tasted so fresh and was made very well. The drinks were well balanced and yummy. The service was great. I know this day was somewhat of a test for them, but I think they had it all under control despite that fact. Our server, Khad, was very knowledgeable and so pleasant. It's has a elevated casual sort of vibe - hip but still chill. Overall it was a great lunch and u would definitely be going back! read more

Five stars all around! We celebrated Mother's Day at Culinary Dropout. It was a perfect choice! The restaurant is spacious and decorated beautifully. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly. Most importantly - the food was excellent. We ordered the pretzels and provolone fondue for an appetizer. The cheese was hot, the pretzels were warm and we all loved it. Our entrees (fish and chips, mushroom pizza, and ribs with smashed potatoes/gray instead of fries) were all delicious. We shared a chocolate mudslide pie for dessert and found it decadent, yet perfect. I can't wait to go back! read more

Excellent food service and atmosphere! Wide variety, friendly courteous waitstaff! Make sure you order crabcakes they were amazing

Myari was great. We are in town for business from Los Angeles and she did an amazing job recommending what we should have and providing a great experience for us as her guests. Top-notch definitely recommend. read more

The Mongolian short rib was delicious and our server Myari was great. Love the antipasti menu as well.

I had an amazing experience for my first time at Culinary Dropout, and considering how this restaurant has only been open for a week they definitely made a lasting impression on me. I came in without a reservation and was told that it would be approximately up to a 40 minute wait and I only had to wait for about 18 minutes, and then, when I was seated my server TJ was very helpful with recommendations when I asked him which he preferred between different menu items that I brought to his attention, which made the experience much more enjoyable. My food came out nice and hot and the atmosphere was definitely a vibe I highly recommend anybody that is looking for great service, great food, and an amazing ambience to check out Culinary Dropout. I know I'll be back read more

I didn't really like the food BUT the drinks make up for it. Along with the appetizers! Service was great. The lady helped pick appetizers and drinks ! Ambiance - not soo packed. Pretty chill vibes ! read more

I'm going to account it to it being a new restaurant and having growing pains. The hosts were very nice however took us to a table that was in the action of being cleaned off so we had to wait for a minute. After we sat, our server passed the table about 3 times as if she was deciding whether or not she wanted to serve us. The run through of the menu was good and it seemed detailed. When the food came out it was lukewarm. The food was good but a bit expensive for the size. Our waitress only came by once to check on us whole we were eating. Another lady came by to check on us and ended up getting us the check and checking us out. The place had good energy with live music and dim lighting. It was a little loud and crowded at the time we went (9:30 pm) but was still nice. Overall it's not bad but I look forward to trying it after a couple of months to see if it's improved. read more

I'm new to charlotte from NY but so far this is one of my fav restaurants the Food, ambiance and service is amazing, I love this place!

We started off with the pretzel bites and cheese fondue dip which was great. My partner got the burger which he said was flavorful. I got the shrimp salad which was also good but the portion was on the small side for the price. Overall it's a great place to get a beer and some upscale bar food. Our waitress was super nice and knowledgeable about the restaurant. I'd recommend going if you're okay with pricier bar food. read more

We were in town for one night and had heard about Culinary Dropout. I tried to call to see about reserving a table - the person answering didn't say anything but just picked up and immediately put me on hold, then hung up on me after a few minutes. I called back and was sent to voicemail. We walked in around 5. The restaurant is beautiful and I commented on that to the hostess. We were then seated in an awkward back room. The server in the room was changing/playing music on the TV from You Tube at a high volume. None of the staff are in any kind of uniform indicating they worked there - it's strange and unprofessional. Quite a few employees walked in to the back room not knowing which table got food. It The house salad is good but small (served like a side salad, not like an appetizer) but in a hot bowl. The cacio e pepe was served luke warm and was mediocre. Definitely was expecting a nicer experience and would not recommend. read more

My daughter and I stopped by after a walk. I have been here before and always loved the food and atmosphere! It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside. I had a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc and my daughter had two delicious mocktails - the Sicilian lemonade and the Juicy Watermelon Spritz. They were both so fresh and tasty! They would have been great with a shot of vodka or tequila too! We noshed on a nice Chef's selection of thinly sliced meats, cheese and snacks! We also had the Wagyu Pigs in a Blanket served with a honey mustard crème fraiche. Everything was so good! Did I mention the delicious crusty grilled bread with olive oil & a balsalmic glaze...it's the best! They had great live music. The service was outstanding! Definitely one of my favorite places in South End! read more

Espresso martinis were great. The bork belly nachos should really be called pulled pork nachos, we didn't get any pork belly. I don't recommend it. Overall, I would go back for the drinks and the vibes. The food was less than okay. read more

Our waiter was amazing, very attentive, patient, and friendly! brought an amazing energy to the table. The steak frites were delicious, very juicy and seasoned well. The overall vibe was perfect, very fancy yet not too expensive for the quality we got! 10/10, would recommend! If you're in the area this is the perfect place to go for a great experience. read more

Every person working here seems to be intoxicated on some level... service was terrible and greeted with a nasty nice attitude.... this place won't be in business very long. Definitely need to do drug testing on this crew. Contacting corporate on this. read more

The food was decent! Some dishes lacked flavor. The feta cheese dish was awesome! The bartenders seemed a bit busy and it was a little confusing knowing who worked there because no one had a uniform or anything distinguishing on. The vibe was awesome! Nice venue. Very open. read more

Great place, great food. Had the Detroit pizza, fantastic. Eli was our waiter, he was awesome!

Culinary dropout was a let down for my group. We were promptly sat at our table and our waitress came soon after. She immediately went into great detail - almost too much - about every single appetizer they have and almost forgot to even get our drink order. Wasn't a big deal, we are rather easy to please. We ordered drinks and the pretzels and fondue which are made in house. Pretzels were very unexciting. No flavor in the pretzel and the cheese was not good. It tasted like scrambled eggs with cheese???? I don't know what that was about but not good. We were starving so ate all of the pretzels but left the cheese to the side. After being halfway through the appetizers our drinks finally arrive. Good drinks, nothing negative here besides the amount of time it took for them to come. We also had to ask for waters 2 separate times before we finally got some. On to the mains - our table got the duck and shrimp fried rice, the ribs, and the cacio e Pepe with chicken. My friend loved his fried rice and said it was very flavorful. My boyfriend said the ribs had very little meat, and no flavor. The house made barbecue sauce was just not great. Then onto the cacio e Pepe... I have had cacio e Pepe at many establishments. I have never been this disappointed in a pasta. The noodles were almost in a liquid which was weird but would have been able to look past that if the flavor was good. But there was no flavor. The chicken. This was the worst part. The chicken was the equivalent of throwing chicken in a pot of boiling water, shredding it, and throwing it in the pasta. There was not one seasoning on it. I ate a very minimal amount and was just over the experience. Overall, I was really excited to go to Culinary Dropout after reading the menu but I was just disappointed. read more

I think 4-4.5 stars is about right. This place is huge and pretty. They were out of the first two things I tried to order, both of which were recommended in succession by our server. I ended up with the steak. The drinks were delicious but small for the price. I'd go back. read more

Our server was great, I don't recall his name, young guy very attentive and ready to help out. The front of the house was a bit jammed with 4 to 5 hostesses not really doing much, they could have helped run food I thought. We ordered the popcorn shrimp as an app, my dining partner thought it was pretty good but for me, it was fairly greasy and didn't have any unique flavor but not bad--give it a 6 out of 10. I had the meatloaf, green beans, and mash potatoes; potatoes were really good, green beans fresh, and the meatloaf was smothered in a ketchup type sauce- give it a 7 out 10. My partner had the fried chicken that was really good, same sides as me-give that a 9 out of 10. read more
