Had great service by Chris, thank you. The chicken was great and he was extremely friendly and helpful.

4 stars because the Margarita Poor favor tasted like a straight up LEMON. I almost choked on how sour it was. Just terrible and I've had some great margaritas at other restaurants. The Steak Frites were good though a little tough but eatable. I sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive, it was kind of empty early afternoon. The place is beautiful and big I'll go back but will try a different drink. read more

Well I can see why this place is called culinary dropout, you should have done that a while ago!!!! Haha, just kidding, just pulling your leg sport! That Black truffle pizza was marvelous. My friend John fancied it. He is a very mystical man, if you get ton his good side consider yourself lucky. I've seen other reviews talk about an "electric" atmosphere, but little did I know. The divine machinery in place at this establishment caused a big shock risk. My friend John was scared contemplating the idea of consciousness. AAAAAAAAAAAnyways, I ordered the steak fries which are apparently a highlight on the menu, they were hot as a dang lava smoothie! The service was so gosh darn good I nearly called them secret. Was that funny? My wife John told me I should delete that part. read more

My interest was piqued with the name. Went there with a colleague while in Charlotte on business. Great atmosphere! Drinks from the bar were on point. The house old-fashioned was excellent. We ordered pretzel rolls with fondue cheese. They were FANTASTIC! On to the main course... My colleague ordered the steak frites. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I ordered the 36 hour ribs. They were also perfect. The staff was friendly, attentive and engaged. The restaurant was very clean. If you're in the Charlotte area, I highly recommend! read more

Was very excited to visit this place as it was very highly rated. Unfortunately, my expectations may have been a bit too high. I had an old fashioned that was outstanding but that was about it. My wife and I had brussels and crispy shrimp to start. The brussels were good but way too salty. The crispy shrimp was very good but I thought it was cold. I thought it was going to be a hot dish... oh well. While we were in the middle of our apps, the entries came out. Not a great way to manage the kitchen. Our entries really left a bit to be desired. The bolognas was quite bland and the portion was a bit small for the price. The short rib was tender and flavorful but the supporting veggies were way too salty that I had to stop eating them. It is a beautiful space but unfortunately the food didn't measure up. read more

Happened to pop in during their opening. Alot of space inside and it was a live band playing. A nice vibe, we were able to get some seats by the bar. The drinks we ordered were okay. I tried the meatloaf because someone said it was very good. I wouldn't order the meatloaf again it wasn't good to me but the potatoes were great. There was also a piece of plastic in my meatloaf, it looked like plastic off of food packaging and the supervisor or manager that came out didn't seem to care too much. Of course they took off the meal and was pushing me to get a drink for free or maybe another meal but after that I didn't want anything else from there. I may give it another try possibly read more

From the moment we walked in it was a mess. I thought our reservation was at 7 but it was at 730. The hostess didn't even look to see if it was a different time she just said we don't have a reservation for you and took a phone call. Someone else helped us as I realized I had the wrong time. The appetizer never came and when our food came my mom's salmon was missing and her salad wasn't prepared correctly so her food came about 10 min after ours. The appetizer finally came right before her food. The chips for the appetizer were very oily and the dip was extremely salty. My sisters Dr Pepper was also flat. There weren't many gluten free options and they weren't that great!! read more

Service and atmosphere is great! Food is not.... I ordered my steak medium rare and it was literally OVER well done. It was chewy and burnt. My date ordered the short rib and while the flavor was good, it was also much overdone. I feel like this place has potential but the cooking needs serious work. read more

First time trying out this restaurant and had such a great experience starting from the beginning. The host were super sweet and happy to help me. Our server Alijah was very accommodating and attentive! The food was amazing! We had the gochugang Brussel sprouts, grilled asparagus, truffle mushroom pizza and the rainbow trout. If I could have, I would have ordered at least 10 more things. Even other staff was coming over to help us out and they just seemed in such high energy and good moods, loved watching them all work as a team! Will definitely be recommending this place to everyone and will be back very soon! Thanks for such a great experience! read more

this was my second visit to culinary drop out and it did not disappoint. we tried the whipped feta & tahini dip, the flavors here were so good! if you like sweet/savory mixes you'll love this. we also had the truffle mushroom pizza again, so delicious! the popcorn shrimp was good, the crust was light and crispy almost like a tempura fry. we ate outside on the patio, it was beautiful and perfect for a spring day. read more

The ambiance is stylish, relaxing yet exciting. Beautiful setting and the outstanding food to match. I had the crispy popcorn shrimp appetizer: I could not stop eating it....cleaned my plate. My entree was the chicken cacio e pepe: not what I expected but delicious and the house salad: no your run of the mill last thought of a salad, this salad is loaded with flavor! My drinks were the Yuzu Orchard Spritz - a non alcoholic DELIGHT! Lastly The service was excellent read more

I suppose my expectations were super high since I've been waiting seemingly forever for this place to open. Maybe it was what I ordered or the fact that it was a very busy Saturday night, but I wasn't blown away. Our waiter was fantastic and the atmosphere was cool--part sports bar, part mid-scale restaurant. However, the food was just ok. I decided to forego the Roasted Salmon that I originally was going to order in lieu of the Turkey Pastrami because, according to our waiter, menu items with two stars beside them on the menu are considered their most popular or highly rated nationwide. The pretzel bun was nice--very soft, chewy texture--but the sandwich as a whole was unremarkable. It's not that is was bad; I just fail to see how it's anybody's favorite anywhere. It was swimming in coleslaw which overtook the cheese and turkey. Even after scrapping much of it off, the flavor just still wasn't there IMO. The Brussels sprouts were solid. I ordered them as my side instead of fries. In addition, we started with the house made chips and onion dip. Really needed this dish to be hot. Having to eat it lukewarm made a tasty dish underwhelming. Willing to go back on a lesser busy day, try a different dish, and give it another try because I really wanna like this place! read more

Went to restaurant for Valentine's Day with my wife. The ambiance was great at the restaurant and really liked the bar and seating. The food was average at best and that's being kind. We started with the whipped feta and it was the only thing that was good. Our server was slow and did not check on us very much leaving our drinks empty for over 20 mins. I ordered the Korean steak caps which was a limited time dish. In my opinion it should be removed the steak was mostly grizzle and with no sides. For the price I expected a better portion and quality meat with sides. My wife ordered the Mongolian short ribs and she did enjoy it. Overall it's more of a have a cocktail and lunch type of place. read more

Took my wife for her 60th birthday with friends. The staff were awesome and very attentive without being overbearing. They made sure my wife's every request was adhered to. Went with my girl friend for food & drinks and they did not disappoint. I got the Chicken with potatoes and biscuit. Literally everything was delicious. Drinks are strong but good. Ambiance was perfect for indoor or outdoor seating. The Monkey bread was 10/10! It came with ice cream and enough to share for 2 people. Waitress was nice and had great suggestions for food/drinks. read more

3.5 stars for this place. I had high hopes for it because it just looked like such a cool place when we walked in, but I left less than impressed. My husband really enjoyed his pizza, my burger was decent, but not memorable or anything great, and the fries were pretty blah. The food isn't what would make me pass over this place next time though. We went in for lunch before any sort of lunch crowd arrived, but the service was still slow and the staff wasn't very friendly. I guess I was impressed by the curb appeal but left feeling underwhelmed. Slow service, unfriendly staff, and high prices. read more

Food was OK (not great). Service was bad (took 45 min for waitress to take our drink orders and we had to flag her down when in need of future assistance) and bathrooms were dirty. My mocktail was nice though. This was a Friday night. read more

I will start by saying the service was absolutely fantastic and deserves all the praise!!! The food, was good, just not worth the price. Cost to proportion ratio was not what it should be. For a 30$ plate of short ribs, it should be much much bigger than a couple pieces of ribs and rice. Flavor was also average. But then again, the service was soo good and they were very accommodating of gluten allergy. The vibes were good inside as well, but overall the experience was soley made on the service, the food was not worth the money. read more

Really had high hopes for this place and I'm hoping the issues that occurred during my visit were just growing pains. ( I believe they've been open for less than a month). When we walked in through the door on the corner of S tryon/W Carson, there were people standing around looking confused and after about 5-10 minutes, I went up to a waitress to ask if we were to seat ourselves. We were told to go to the hostess across the restaurant and a few others followed us b/c apparently they weren't aware either. Perhaps a sign at that entrance directing customers to the hostess would be helpful. We were told that there would be a 30 minute wait and we could sit at the bar while we wait. We chose to head to the bar, and there were 2 empty seats, and we stood there for a while b/c the countertop was filthy and after about 10 minutes, a bartender asked us if we were trying to sit there, we told him yes and he said he would get it cleaned up. We waited another 10 minutes and someone finally wiped it. They were pretty busy at the bar at this point to be fair. The ambiance/atmosphere was very nice except for the lighting at the bar. It was almost impossible to really see what was going on with your food (shown in my videos). We took a few minutes to look at the drink menu, and I decided that I would just ask the bartender if they could make a painkiller, he said yes, but he highly suggested the Evil Jungle Princess. I'm glad he did because that cocktail was amazing. It's pretty much the only reason I've given 2 stars. Only order it if you're into rum/fruity drinks. Unfortunately, after my drink order, everything went downhill. It took another 15 minutes for a bartender to actually take our order for another drink or anything else and since it looked like it was taking longer than the wait time to get a table, I decided to order the pretzel and fondue as an appetizer. That took 15 to 20 minutes to come out. I really liked the fondue but unfortunately the pretzels were extremely salty. Almost inedible. We may have eaten 2 pretzel bites each. After this, the hostess came to us to ask if you wanted to sit at a table or stay at the bar and we chose to stay since we pretty much already started eating. But perhaps that was a mistake. It took another 15 to 20 minutes for a bartender to take our food order. I ordered the steak frites medium well. It took a while for it to finally arrive but when it did, it was completely burnt. It tasted almost like charcoal, and it was very tough. I sent it back and asked for maybe a medium steak since the cook was obviously not familiar w/ medium well. The manager came around and explained to me that she saw what the steak looked like, apologized and said she would bring out a proper medium well steak b/c she felt that this was grey on the inside unfortunately. She brought that back fairly quickly and allowed me to try it while she was there to make sure it was correct. And it was great temperature wise. I would maybe suggest trying this dish during the lunch hour instead of dinner if you want to feel that you got your money's worth. I also ordered the sweater weather sangria. I was overwhelmed by the amount of spice. So I wouldn't suggest this cocktail. I left it at basically a full glass. My final mistake was ordering monkey bread to go. I saw pictures on Yelp of what it was supposed to look like and unfortunately that's not what I got as you can see in my videos. It was a mess and it took over a half an hour to get. And I had to literally ask the manager for it. My drive home was pretty short (as you can see the ice cream was not melted) so it wasn't the drive home that was the reason for the quality of the dessert. I'm definitely not saying not to give this restaurant a chance, but I would maybe wait until they really get the hang of things. **Also, I called in advance to ask if they validate parking. When we were ready to leave, the bartender told us that they do not. I told him that I called and checked about that and he went to ask the manager and the manager said that they do validate and to just have the hostess do it. So keep that in mind as well. read more

Sad to write this because I've been here several times and the food has always been good, but on my most recent visit during restaurant week I had an allergic reaction despite clearly communicating my nut allergy to the server. Even as the food (asian salad appetizer) was placed on the table it was verbally specified as nut free, but I had a reaction and had to throw it up in the bathroom so as not to use my epi pen. Then, after ordering dessert, I clarified with the server placing it in front of me that it was nut free... and she had no idea, asking her colleague in front of me, who also could not give a direct answer. Then she proceeded to offer me the other dessert choice (which explicitly contained nuts) in case I couldn't have this one. I didn't want to cause a scene, but if I wasn't with a large group I definitely would have complained to management. This is the second time that I've been here and the servers were unable to answer basic menu questions... not to mention that allergies should be taken seriously. Again, the food is mostly awesome, but the service is seriously questionable. Disappointing and lowkey traumatizing experience read more

service 10/10, waitress was personable, nice and helpful. shrimp crispy rice appetizer 8/10, kind of an odd item for this menu but good nonetheless. chicken cacio e pepe 7/10 good but needed a little more seasoning. steak frites - this is where it went wrong. ordered first time, medium, came out black and blue. sent it back and had a manager come by to make sure i knew what "medium rare" meant i said i ordered medium not medium rare. got a new one, came out more rare than before. they didn't charge me for the steak and gave me a salad for me to take home after i refused another item. i'll give it another try (definitely not ordering the steak) but this place is far too premium to not know how to cook a steak. read more

This place was mediocre at best. Our server, Malachi, was pretty good. He brought us refills on our tea before we had to ask but only one. The ambiance is good. The design, furnishings, etc were very nice. The outdoor space was great. Too hot to sit outside unfortunately, but a great space. The food is where this place lost a couple of stars. We had apps of an Asian salad and the other was whipped feta. The salad was soggy. It had been sitting for a while before it was served. The fried onions in it had lost their crunch long before it was served. The whipped feta was good but the bread served with it was a joke. Two small pieces, not enough to eat the feta and it was burnt. But it had also been sitting out for a while and had a stale taste to it. I had the fish and chips and the fish was overcooked and rubbery. My friend had the fried chicken and it was nearly burnt. We took the desserts to go. We did see a bowl of pretzel bites with fondue that looked good. Overall, I liked the vibe of the place but I would not recommend the food at all. And the food most definitely was not worth the price. The prices were insanely high for the type of food and for how poorly prepared the food was. There's other restaurants nearby that have much better food. read more
