We stopped here for lunch and were very disappointed. The sashimi was good but the beef teriyaki was cold and dried out. When we told the waitress that the rice was cold too, she seemed unaffected by the comment. The waitress was dressed in a very dirty sweatshirt and lacked any service attitude. Really great takeout! Just moved into the area from Boston and really can't believe the quality and taste at cubist!!! Sushi is clean, fresh and professionally prepared. Hot dishes are tasty, the salt content is not overpowering like other places, vegetables and other ingredients are all fresh AND there is variety (not just onions and carrots). You can literally tell someone makes this food with care and attention. We love freshness... to see it, hear about it, and of course enjoy to eat it up!! Nothing is worse than old smelly careless food. It's pretty rare to find a gem like this, especially one that is better than city quality. We will be long time customers for sure! read more

Just don't expect it to be as refined as you may be used to. Our peapod was a bit undercooked with raw-vegetable flavor at the center, the sweet&sour Mandarin fish (basically pine nut fish) was made with tilapia, dan dan noodle was a bit soggy... stuff like that.... It's acceptable and great for the area.... It's just that it prob won't survive as a business in the big cities. Personally, I don't care for tilapia in general, fish from the ocean is way better tasting. As for the Sichuan peppercorn on the Sichuan dishes. It's lacking the tongue and mouth numbing sensations that would come to be expected. I want to give this place a 4.5 if I could. I spent a lot of time in California and the Szechuan food at Cubist really brings me those flavors I've been missing and craving. The missing .5 is that the chili oil is missing a hint of nuttiness. We got the dry spice wings, chili oil wontons, spicy dumplings and Dan Dan noodles and let me tell you, none of it made it to our kitchen table. Ha. Enjoyed it much more than many of the Sichuan restaurants' chengdu frieed chicken dish, where they often overfry the chicken, has too much breading, or the sauce tastes like MSG Water cooked beef: Very good flavor - aromatic, numbing, and good spice level. But, the beef they used wasn't the best in quality. Spicy fried rice: Each kernel of the rice separates - one of the key things for freid rice and they did this very well! Flavor was also very good Dan dan noodle: This was the odd one. Have never had dan dan noodle that is watery, but their sauce was watery. The sauce was also a bit too sweet. Was excited to try this new place but was highly disappointed. Called in for a take out order, lady taking the order had to ask me what category items were under because she struggled to find them... ordered 3 appetizers and 4 makis and was quoted 20 minutes; purposely left later as most places misquote the timing. Got there about 30 minutes after placing the order yet they needed 10 minutes to finish "a couple more more makis" (mind you, we only ordered 4 makis total) and they would bring the order to our car. Over 10 minutes past and I call again and was told they still have 1 more maki to go and that the sushi station usually isn't busy but it is. Okay, but why is that MY problem? It's a Saturday night, people are dining/ordering out! It seemed like they only started on my order once we arrived. It's already annoying when your order isn't ready but it makes things worse when you are continuously lied to in live time after you are already at the restaurant and your order isn't ready. We finally got our order 50 minutes after I initially placed it. They "apologized" with a $10 off coupon for our next order as if there will be a next time. Now, not only was the wait time horrific... the food is also not very good. They also gave me a wrong appetizer which we realized after we hangrily got home. Got their salt and pepper wings (massive, crunchy and topped with fried garlic/jalapenos). Claypot Braised beef stew with bean curd (tender fall apart beef/tendon, good with white rice) and last but not least Cumin Pork (lots of flavor, mildly spicy which is perfect). Items are on the pricy side but portions are good and for how flavorful and delicious it is, it's worth it. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes. Great! We went there and the parking lot was empty but we just missed the rush. We got the General's chicken and the dry pepper chicken wings. They were both incredible. Dry pepper wings seemed to have its own homemade chili crisp. Good chunks of pepper and garlic and the schezuan dumplings were good not as hot as I expected. Also the scorpion bowl was great and the waitress was very nice and was joking around with our 3 yr old. Over all great experience.
