Nonexistent customer service or help. Let's start with the hours. They close at 6pm. For someone who works until 5 and has to make the drive to the location, that leaves very little time to get anything done. If you happen to be even a minute late, you better hope you get lucky and find someone. The elevators are also old and creaky. You're limited to being able to use only a single elevator, so if the other elevator comes down, you get to restart the process of calling an elevator and hoping the right one shows up. And talking about the personnel. I've been renting here since July and have yet to see an actual worker here. Public Storage's app uses your phone's bluetooth to gain access to the facility. Wouldn't it be great to let someone on site even after hours (within reason), since you're getting them to log in and know exactly who is coming in and out? You know, like others do? I was pretty desperate looking for somewhere near my new home and found this place. Pretty full of regret now, and even though I'm not ready to empty it, I'm half tempted to take a day and pull everything out. Paying way too much and getting way too little here. Oh, also got a notice of an increase in cost - making this even less worth the service being provided. For a company that's providing a service, they sure aren't service oriented, are they?

I would strongly caution anyone considering SecureSpace, particularly the Brea location. My…read moreexperience with this company has been absolutely awful and the way they handled a very simple move-out issue felt incredibly predatory and scammy. I rented two units here and moved out of one of them in July 2025. Before moving out, I did exactly what a responsible customer should do. I called BOTH SecureSpace's main call center and the Brea location to notify them I was leaving and specifically asked what I needed to do to properly close the unit. I was told that a move-out notice had been placed on my account, my automatic payment for the following month was turned off, and that all I needed to do was make sure my belongings were completely removed from the unit. I followed those instructions. The unit was completely empty. The ONLY thing left was the lock that SECURESPACE PROVIDED. Then SecureSpace attempted to charge me for AN ENTIRE ADDITIONAL MONTH because that lock was left behind even though not one person during either of my move out conversations told me that the lock needed to be returned to the office. When I called the Brea location to explain this obvious miscommunication, instead of trying to resolve it, management immediately escalated the situation and threatened to send me to collections. I then contacted SecureSpace's call center, explained everything again, and was assured that the charge would be removed and that it WOULD NOT be sent to collections. I trusted what their representative told me and moved on. Nearly a YEAR later, I checked my credit report and discovered that SecureSpace had sent the charge to collections anyway. I received no meaningful warning that they were still pursuing this balance after telling me it had been resolved. I had no idea there was a collection account until I found it myself on my credit report. The collection damaged my credit rating, which had previously been Excellent. I have since made repeated attempts to resolve this directly with the company, including sending SecureSpace a detailed FORMAL WRITTEN COMPLAINT explaining the entire situation and requesting that the collection be recalled and removed. Weeks have now passed. NO RESPONSE. I have given SecureSpace multiple opportunities to correct this privately. They have chosen not to respond, so I am now documenting my experience publicly and pursuing the appropriate consumer complaints and other remedies available to me. Please be extremely careful when renting here. THE WORST customer-service experiences I have ever had.

So what you have to do is look at the unit. Run to the parking lot and then call them over the phone so it's technically over the phone to lock in the rate. What they're trying to do is have you pay for a unit blindly first. They'll offer you "a refund" if you don't like the unit. What have we allowed corporations to do? Dear Lord. Cancelling reservation after reading these other Yelp reviews about break-ins and price hikes. The rigidity of the rep on the phone was already a red flag. Maybe I should thank her for raising it.

I like how they have gate/door access through their app as it makes it convenient getting in the place. I noticed after a few months there were a lot of rodent droppings and urine stains on my stuff when I would go to pick up something. I let the front office know and they said they are aware and they could put traps in my storage unit if I wanted. I would have had dead rodents in my storage unit, didn't really want that, so I guess I need to deal with the rodents making a mess. They also raised the rent on me "just because". An okay place to store your things if you don't mind rodents pissing and pooing and chewing up your things.
