Facility Negligence and Flood Damage: After only a week of renting, a pipe burst, causing a massive flood in my unit. Nearly all my belongings--including my television, mattress, magazines, notes, and a wooden-framed wedding photo--were soaked and had to be discarded. Instead of taking accountability, management tried to hide evidence by avoiding email communication and only using phone calls. They acted as if allowing me to transfer to another unit was a favor, while offering zero compensation for my destroyed property. 2. Additional Financial Burden: Due to this flood, my movers had to spend an extra 1.5 hours re-packing and moving my items. This cost me an additional $180 ($120/hour) out of pocket, not to mention the income I lost from missing work due to the delay. They also claimed they "offered" free boxes to help, which is a lie--no one mentioned this, and I had to pay the moving company for supplies myself. 3. Insurance Evasion: I paid for their insurance for May. When the flood occurred on May 28th, they refused to process my claim, forcing me to use my own policy despite the fact that I had already paid for theirs. They essentially took my money for coverage they refused to honor when I actually needed it. 4. Deceptive Billing and Predatory Price Hikes: Their pricing is a trap. I was promised a two-month 50% promotional discount, but they charged me the full amount for June anyway. Most outrageously, by the fifth month, they suddenly increased my rent from $152 to $220/month. I later spoke to an elderly tenant who also complained about being blindsided by these sudden, aggressive price hikes. Do not be fooled by their website prices. This company is unprofessional, unreliable, and predatory. Save yourself the stress and financial loss--look elsewhere for storage.

In short, they are greedy, asking for tips they haven't earned and making it a request before actual payment for service. They are slow, charging more time per hour while taking breaks. They are also unethical, disrespectful and oppressive in tone when they don't agree with you and assertive as to how they want to handle your things. I was missing a lot of valuable items (interesting since the stored items are not open to the public) while some boxes were water damaged (interesting since they told me their warehouse is environmentally controlled).When presented with the issues, they wanted to avoid and deny any liability or offer a respectful compensation. At small claims court the judge found strong merit to my claim. He shared that on a moral/ethical ruling, he would have granted my award request. I had (as anyone else would) reasonable expectations that my items would be completely safe. I had pictures and documented correspondence as evidence. However, he had to rule on the legal basis. So legally, he ruled in their favor because I signed the contract and initialed a line that upon making and claims for damages or loss, I would accept and abide by this sixty cents per pound per box regulation. My fault, it was late and was trying to take care of paying them and didn't read the fine print. I should have read the entire contract of their two sided, 8 1/2 by 14" contract instead of allowing them to guide me on where to sign before conducting business with them. Furniture for the record, can't be placed in a box for weighing but the judge was firm on his decision. I lost valuable art and collectibles, there was broken expensive glassware, and furniture among other things. They even sent some of my things to another customer and denied it all. Convenient when the 60 cent "loophole" compensation provides a safety cushion for the company due to loss or damage of customer property. These guys know exactly how to work the system. So, the lesson here is don't hire Cali- moving and Storage under any circumstances because they have no true regard for your property. Making as much money as possible while being irresponsible handling your things and dishonest in their actions. Read the other low rating reviews (there are plenty of them). If for some reason you do wind up dealing with them, be on your highest alert and awareness mode dealing with their manager Michael/Mikhail. If opportunity presents itself, it's very possible to be taken advantage of. All people especially military and veterans: THIS COMPANY ENGAGES IN DISHONARABLE ACTIONS!!
