If I could I would leave less than a star. This place was really well priced at the time which was really the only perk. You get fooled by the outside where it looks clean and tidy. The upstairs is even clean. You move your stuff into the storage and of course it gets dusty I can understand that but the infestation of rats is over the top. It was completely unsanitary in my storage unit when I moved my stuff out. Not only that I had throw away so many memories because they were covered with rat poop. There was also evidence of termites throughout the unit. But to be honest termites and spiders and bugs were my least concern. Of all the storage units I've ever had in my life I have never had a problems with rats. I do not have any food or anything that would attract them to my stuff. I didn't even want to get into my car after touching all my stuff that was just covered in this nasty stuff. A shower was the only thing I could think of. Unfortunately I would definitely not recommend this place unless you don't care about your items and don't care about rat poop all over your stuff. I would also say The lady that helps me when I came to move out was not very informative. Renting a U-Haul has never been such a pain. You usually walk in get the keys walk out check the truck and you're on the way. It took over an hour for this process. Do not rent a U-Haul from them. So after this long process I go to my storage unit to find it full of rat poop let me tell you moving out was not a fun thing. Also they don't have an elevator. I definitely give this place two thumbs down and I hope I don't get any diseases from touching and breathing in that toxic air. I should have taken photos, But I didn't even want to touch my phone. I hope the stuff that I did keep doesn't get me sick as well. read more

my son died in April of a stroke, he kept a unit there. He paid a month in advance because he was on Social Security, so May was paid in cash. when they were notified of his death and the unit cleaned out by April 30, they refused to refund the money. His wife kept calling but they only called to say they needed a copy of the death certificate, understandable BUT they also need certification from San Diego County. the death certificate says you are dead. what is the State going to add. they hassled a women whose husband had just died and refused to refund the money even though she had the death certificate and the receipt for the money. Again may I rectorate the above review because clearly you're letting your emotions get the best of you and not reading throughly. You did not immediately change the locks because up until the day you sent the email stating you were going to charge $175.00 my (daughter) had been at the storage and was using the same key. So your clients safety of their belongings is not your priority. Look all we ask and reported that two members of your staff not only lied to us but they were completely rude. Obviously there are enough people on Yelp that agree. She advised me that you called her yesterday and you've settled the matter. All we asked is that in the future those two might offer better customer service and the lack of communication so things don't get to this point. I was looking up the address for my storage facility for a friend and saw the bad reviews and started to read them, little funny to read to be honest. I've used this storage facility everyday for 5 years now as part of my business and not only is the facility safe and well kept but everyone in the office is extremely nice, friendly and is more than willing to help however they can. Anyone who is upset with the service or overall upkeep of the facility is clearly upset about other things in life and should look inward. read more

I recently moved out of this location as I moved further up north, BUT I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to store in San Diego! I was hear for a little over a year, and honestly there are so many positives to this place. Location is great, right off the 15. They really value security here and make an effort to keep the place safe with cameras And routinely checking the facility daily. Next, the price is great! Definitely much cheaper than the other storage places in SD but with the same (if not better) quality. Finally, the people working in the office there are what made it such a pleasure to store here. Everyone was very friendly, very helpful, and knowledgeable. Management is lovely! Reading through other reviews it just seems like the people giving low ratings are just looking for something negative lol! I was planning of staying with the place longer but due to all the dirt and debris filling the unit after just a 2 month stay, I am vacating this place - I can imagine after a 6 month ordeal my electronics would be somewhat worthless at that point - So its best to stop this in the tracks which I have started - the dirt and debris comes in from the top of the door for some reason - it has to be all the vehicles that drive down thru the driveways that cause this- but still I have to protect my electronics- read more

This review is ONLY for the U-Haul rental: I made the mistake of going by the gas level from what was in the computer for a 10' truck. It was listed as 3/4. When I first looked at it, I assumed it was 3/4 and only had F 1/2 E . Like an idiot, I saw it as just under 3/4 when in fact it was over 1/4 tank. Needless to say, I watched the gas level for the entire 70 miles driven. It was not until the final 20 that I realized the E was opposite of what I thought I was watching. When I went to the gas station to top off, I had to put in almost 18 gallons. That puts the gas mileage at almost 4 MPG. U-Haul claims that 10' truck get an estimated 12 MPG. When I tried to explain to the person checking it in, who had no idea what she was doing, she had to get help from the other person there. My final conclusion: get your U-Haul from a regular U-Haul place or triple check your gas level. You only get E 1/2 F. Unfortunately, it was actually F 1/2 E $75 gas for 70 miles is wrong. The thing that ticked me off the most is that it did not seem out of the ordinary to the idiot checking it in. She was too dim-witted to comprehend what I was explaining yet I told her that 4 MPG shows it was a reading mistake on both parties. I should have put in $30 of gas and shut up and see if they would have thought 3/4 as well. Update. Add 2 stars for an apology. 3 stars. read more

We came across this place on yelp, but since it doesn't have the greatest reviews we were hesitant to store here. We were looking for a last minute storage since due to COVID we need to move for some months. We came in with low expectations, but the girls were extremely helpful. We didn't even know what we were searching for and they helped me and my wife determine size. We worked out a great deal and they went over the rules and regulations very clearly. They also have U-hauls and we were able to reserve one for the following week. I'm so relieved we decided to try this place. They have really made this stressful moment in our life much smoother. Do not use this place. They are overpriced filthy units with bugs. I moved out on July 8th and could not pay for final billing of $50 for 8 days so they sent me bill for $172.50 and threatened to make me pay for auction fees of the unit that is totally empty. I'm trying to simplify my life not have your low class storage facility suck the life out of me. Zero stars from me. Public Storage is better maintained, less paper work, cleaner, and never have had a problem with them. This place has no bells & whistles, but provides the basic you will need. staff is cordial. Price is reasonable. I have nothing to say bad about them. They offer a variety of sizes needed. & best of all they offer student discount & they dont raise rates which is totally awesome:) the only thing is they don't have elevator lift, which is the only downfall. FAIL. Rude! Rude! Rude! I just left and went to the Public Storage next door. Just wanted to store some extra items I didn't want around the house. Unfortunately, I guess I was bothering the woman in her make-shift office in one of the storage units. She didn't speak when I spoke. As she showed me the unit, she just walked away as I was asking questions. Then she said, "Do you want it or not?" She quoted some expensive prices for the small storage that I was looking for that were 50% higher than I was given on the phone. I wasn't worried about the cost, but I am not in the habit of rewarding bad behavior with my good business. I was searching for a storage on Yelp and found Associated Storage had 5 stars so i went to their website and checked the locations and prices. After a visit to both locations we decided on this location because of their availability and the prices. The other location is a bit pricey even though it is the same service. So we decided on this location even though it only had 2,5 stars.. They have both drive-up and upstairs options and they have a big variety of size options. Drive-up units are a bit more expensive than upstairs but i think its worth it. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They took us around and showed us the options. The price was 121$/ a month for a 10x10 drive- up unit with a military discount. (Even though they said the military discount is only for at least 6 month commitment on the phone, they gave us discount price for 4 months too. ) They had a coupon on their website which says 10$ for the first month. The tricky part for that, it only works till the end of that month. So if you move in on 15th of that month you pay 10 only until 30th of that month so only for 15 days. If you move in on 1st of that month its 10$ for the whole month. The place looks nice and clean, they have security cameras everywhere. You should bring your own lock for the unit or you can buy from there too its around 15 bucks i guess. Over all we had a good experience, hopefully i ll have the same feelings on the day we move out :) read more

Low price is the only reason why I am using their services. This company and their staff make it very clear that this is a business to make money, and you come here because you need them. They have pages and pages of rules for you to follow, and they repeatedly remind you that you have to pay a fine if you don't do this or don't do that. They also make it very clear that they are not responsible for this and that, but you have to do this and that. They will tell you, "You should do this; You shouldn't have done this; You have to pay a fine if you do this..." It seems to me that they have an attitude as their prices are lower. You just have to use our services because no other places can beat us in terms of cost. Everything is done with only their convenience considered. They never make an effort to make things easier for customers or to suit their needs. You have to sign the contract on the day you want to start the services. You can't do it in advance even if you have to be out of town for a while, and want to get everything done in advance so that you can just move in later when you are ready. Because of their pages and pages of rules, it takes forever to do the paperwork, and you have to do this on the day when you are exhausted with moving and have tons of stuff waiting to go into storage. They wouldn't even lend you a ladder or a chair for a few minutes when you need something to step on in order to reach a box on top of the stack. In short, this is one of the most arrogant companies I have ever experienced. read more

This place used to be a good storage place. Management changes and employee changes has drastically changed that. The price has gone up tremendously and they keep raising the price annually. To top that, they all have attitude there. It's very painful to check out a key to the storage building. They also lock all the trash bins. This place is the worst!!! We notified the office our door was broken 3-4 months ago and they never fixed it... So I told them I was planning on leaving sometime soon due to them not fixing my door because my stuff was all exposed... THEN they send me an email 2 days before my rent is due stating my rent is past due... I have asked for verification of how and why my rent with a due date of the 10th of every month is late on the 8th? Never heard back from them... There facility is clean and the employees are very helpful and professional. I rented a unit on the first floor for easier access. So far I am happy with there service. read more

There's big trouble at Associated Storage. Today, I discovered my storage unit had been ransacked and looted. When I went to the office to report what happened, there was already an officer from SDPD taking a report from a gentleman for the exact same thing. His unit is in the same building as mine, just 5 doors down. My padlock had not been cut. The other gentleman's lock had not been cut either. Sadly, this has all the hallmarks of an inside job. The owners/management insist on using a "sign-in sheet" which is displayed prominently on the office counter for all to see. Forget the lack of privacy from the general public. The wrong type of employee can use the sheet to establish visitation patterns and frequency. Like me, the other gentleman had not been to his unit in months. My expensive golf clubs and vintage electronics are gone. My unit was meticulously arranged with plastic storage bins to protect my things from bugs and collapsing cardboard boxes. So much for that. My photos, paper items, and record collection were damaged when the culprit(s) crammed all my things back into unit. (The crime would've been detected sooner had they left my items out in the hall.) I'm very eager to know how Associated Storage is going to make their affected clients whole. The first few things they should do after notifying their customers of the robberies are tighten their security measures and conduct a full investigation into the matter. Keeping their clients' property safe and secure should be their highest priority. I'll provide an update soon. read more
