I had a 10x10 storage unit for almost 6 years....I decided to take everything out because I saw rodent droppings and while doing that I found a lot more...after 6 years of never missing a payment they did not reimburse me any rent or pay for any damaged stuff that the rodents caused...gross. read more

I've had a storage space here for nearly 2.5 years. Out of those 2.5 years, the overhead light has stopped working for 2 years. My storage unit is dark now and have to use a flashlight to work within my own unit that I'm paying for. I've complained many, many times to at least four different people at the counter about this. I've only ever received a generic response like, "maintenance will eventually come around to fix this." Like today on 3/2/2025 at 3:50pm, I went to complain to the guy at the counter (who looked half asleep and did not care). I've complained about the light before, and all he ever said was, "I've got many to do, and they each take about 30 minutes." Okay cool, but he had this EXACT SAME excuse before, a few months ago. He may not have remembered me, but I sure as hell remembered him and his excuse. Now it got me thinking, if simple maintenance isn't even done around here, is security also not taken seriously here? So now I look at some of the reviews here on Yelp and lo and behold, there have been reports of theft and burglary with a few customers. It used to be that the rates at this place couldn't be beat, but is it actually worth it when maintenance is seemingly not up-kept and all the additional reports of burglary? I can no longer recommend this place anymore and will be looking at moving out. read more

We've rented a 10x10 storage for a year. Never had issue. The monthly rate is also reasonable, given that the facility has controlled climate. The building is always clean and maintained. Great customer service. They would back whenever they would miss my call. Highly recommend! read more

I needed a storage last minute, looked online and this location was only a few miles away and had the best deal. When I got there I was greeted by Bill. He was very informative and patient with us. My unit was recently broken into by another renter that have seen the content of my unit. They climbed over the top and removed the 4 bolts on the lock. I reported it immediately to the employees that was there at the time and he was quick to put the blame on me and my friend who shares the unit with me. He told me that I cannot see the surveillance until I have a police report. I filed the police report the following day and the cops asked for the surveillance and that same guy that out the blame on me was now blaming my friend. He kept going back to the video where my friend took some things out but I kept telling him that I came back after that and my valuable things was still in there. I kept telling him to start from when I was last here but he kept dodging it like he knew who the perpetrator was. He even told me that there hasn't been any theft there before but a simple look on Yelp and it shows that there's already been multiple. Also when he was going through the tapes, he was doing it really slow to discourage the cops. They cops even told him to fast forward it faster but he kept slowing it down. I look online and now some of my collectible items are being sold on OfferUp with the same name as the employee. I had tipped the detective that was assigned to my case and I never heard from any of them at all. Suffice it to say, stay away from PAC-It-Away and their sister storage units that they own. They have another one in Point Loma called "Pacific Highway Storage" at 4350 Pacific Hwy, 92110. Stay away from these people. They do not care if your valuable items that you have worked for all your life gets stolen. They will not do anything about it and will just brush it off. read more

Our storage unit was broken into. Thousands of dollars worth of property gone. When we told management they didn't seem to care one bit. Made it very clear that it was not their problem. All they did was tell us to file a police report. I tried to get them to come down and look at the damage (where you can clearly see where someone climbed over and detached the screws to the flimsy metal panel). They didn't even bother to come see it for themselves. I had to take pictures and bring those to them. Zero sympathy from the manager Denise. Once the police report was filed the officers told us this specific storage unit is burglarized frequently by homeless people, specifically. If you have valuables DO NOT bring them here. read more

I am writing this review in hopes that no one ever has to experience what I experienced. I have seen similar reviews to mine and I am blown away that a company can get away with something like this. If a woman named "Ana" answers the phone save yourself the time and ask to speak with someone else. I called and made a reservation and received an email confirming my reservation. I called back the day before I was supposed to move my things in and spoke to a very rude woman who told me she gave my reservation away "because people often cancel their reservations." So, the reservation I had made and counted on, booked and paid a deposit for movers was given away because "people likely cancel". I asked her how that could have possibly happened and that I was counting on their unit as I have a move out and movers scheduled. She said they were doing a special and the special I had made the reservation on was no longer valid but she could help me book the same unit for $45 more a month. I told her that would not work for me and said thank you. When I was getting off the phone I asked may I please get your name but, she refused to tell me and told me mockingly, "good luck, I'll never give you my name". I had to call back and ask again for her name until she finally told me her name is Ana. I work in customer service and could not even believe the way she was speaking to a customer. She told me it was my fault a reservation I had made had been canceled? I had a confirmation email and my things ready to move in. THANK GOD I CALLED OTHERWISE I WOULDVE SHOWN UP WITH MY THINGS ON MOVING DAY WITH NO WHERE TO PUT THEM. At one point she actually told me it was my fault my reservation was canceled? After my second phone call when she finally told me her name she then began saying well now I am trying to help you and asked if she could rent me a unit. Absolutely not, I will never ever rent a unit from a place like this. It's moving day on NYE and we attempted to leave at 8:15pm but the gates will not open to let us leave. We called the in case of emergency number posted on the gate, and it goes to a lady's voicemail. We left a message 45 minutes ago and still no response or call back. Instead of locking people in, they should add a small fee on the next months bill for a late departure or explicitly post that you will be LOCKED in if it's after 8pm. Luckily I have family in town who can give us a ride home, the side door is unlocked for exiting by foot, but we have to leave our uhaul and come back for it in the morning. Otherwise the facility is pretty clean, they have carts, and well lit, but the office visit to just to sign up took close to an hour, which is why I'm giving two stars. If we'd be able to exit they'd have gotten 4-5 stars from me for the unit value and newer facility. read more

Wow. They actually mean that they CLOSE at 8pm. You can't leave! Honestly what is the purpose of that? I get not letting people enter the lot and the building, but you can't leave!? No grace period? I'm in the middle of a super stressful move, it's New Years Eve and I'm now locked in the parking lot of the storage unit at 8:15pm. The emergency number went straight to voicemail so that was no help. Fortunately my sister in law lives in the area and was available. Otherwise, no complaints, I guess. Staff was nice! The place is clean, there's enough space to park and move things. Super easy place to navigate. Has cameras and it's a gated area! I couldn't stress enough how clean and safe it was while I was there. The process to get a storage unit was fast and the deals were really good when I got a unit! I don't ever write negative reviews but with this company I want to inform everyone what they are getting into before they actually commit. To start off I was looking for a storage unit to store some dirt bikes of mine and a friends, as well as some other stuff we don't have room for in our living space. I called and made a reservation on July 4th. (The website said they were open and the person I spoke with did as well) When I got there they had a sign posted they were closed for the 4th. I understand why you would be closed on a holiday, but you should inform someone that you are closed instead of just making a reservation. My second instance, it's a storage unit so the idea is that you are moving stuff around. Trying to be a genuine person I parked my truck in the always empty parking lot out front for a couple hours while I was moving stuff from home to the storage unit. Came back about 3 hours later and my truck was towed. A $400 fine is what I had to pay to get the truck out. I wish we had an option to choose 0 stars. Sharing this review so you guys don't have to go through what me and my friend had to face. It started with me calling up the center and talking to a lady name "Ana" she booked us a 10*10 room for the specials and we received an email confirmation. The day of booking We reached at the center to keep our stuff with all my luggage's in the truck. I reached there around a hour before they close and Ana was helping someone .we patiently waited for 20 mins and when we sat down to discuss our reservation she mentioned we have been assigned a 10*9 instead of 10*10 room and if we need a 10*10 we will have to pay additional amount of 45$ which was a surprise. They didn't have a 10*10 reserved for us and due to their mistake she wanted to pus to pay for. We asked her if she confirmed 10*10 over the phone To which she agreed so we asked her if we could have a10*10 assigned . She just blankly started looking at us which no response! We were amazed if she is understanding our issue and if so why is she not reaching. So strange.. We did go ahead with the tour the facility, as soon as we reached the main office we discussed our options for 10*10 room, where she started behaving very strangely and with a confused face just failed to understand our problem. We insisted on talking to the manager who was not in the office, manager did listen to our issue over the phone and responded with one sentence "it's 6 Ana has to leave please let her go" we were amazed and beyond shocked to how a manager could respond to an issue. We had our stuff in the car and she didn't even try to help. That was my worst encounter with any manager Ana stopped talking to us and just refused to help since it was one minute past six which is their closing time even though we were sitting inside the office in front of her since last one hour and we had to return with our stuff which was really frustrating I did reach out the next day to let the manger know to which she casually responded yea Ana is new and neither of them could help us to fix our reservation. Now if we need a storage room she mentioned since we had a reservation already she cannot give us new user promo rates which was another blunder. We didn't even get any storage the day we went to office and suddenly next day we are not eligible for promotional rates!! Jose patiently answered any of my questions and was happy to make sure I got the best price I could; as well as showing me around to ensure I knew the facility like it were my own home. Similar to another reviewer, I too was a victim of a targeted theft from my storage unit. The thief or thieves didn't take everything, but they did take a lot of small, valuable items, packed in specific boxes within my unit. My lock wasn't tampered with, but I did notice some bent panels inside one of the walls of the unit (possibly removed and reattached?). I completed a police report and moved my remaining items out ASAP. I reported it to the office staff and they didn't even ask me for the police report. I got a call from someone claiming to be the manager and they said "this has happened before". No, I never gave my code or keys to anyone. Initially, I liked this storage facility. It is clean and seems secure, but if you're going to store items here, I'd suggest you not store anything of value here- maybe just large furniture items, since you'd need a truck to steal those. I'd also suggest checking your unit everyday, so you can have a specific date to report stolen items. I made the error of going a few months without checking my unit, so I couldn't provide a specific date for the theft on the police report. I'm not sure how long they keep security camera footage, or if they keep it all. The only recompense you'll receive for items stolen from your unit is between you and your renter's insurance company. But I guess that's how all self-storage facilities work, so just a note of caution. read more

RUDE!!! Worst customer service I've dealt with. Apparently I EXITED the storage 9 min past gate hours and was locked in?! Not sure how this makes any sense.... 6am-8pm are gate hours. No where does it state you have to EXIT the store before 8pm. When you shop at a grocery store and they close at 10pm... they don't lock you in the building after 10pm... you finish your shopping then leave. On top of that they want to charge you $50 for trying to leave?! Then tell you your trespassing. I'll just finish my 3 month special then leave. read more

I needed to move out, when I did, I was told it was ok that I did not give a 30 day notice and that I would get a prorated refund. I never received the refund, upon contacting them i received multiple emails, one stating that i would get my refund the next business day. I still did not receive it. I finally got to the understanding that I would not be getting my refund. Upon learning this I then asked for a rental unit for the days I paid for but never received. We made a reservation and agreed to tour the unit that Saturday and move in. Upon arriving, the doors were locked and a sign was on the door that said they were on property and would be back shortly. Talking with other customers, we learned it had been about 2 hours that people had been waiting. We waited for about an hour before someone drove out the back, said they had just quit, and that the facility was closed. We had to find a different facility to move into and barely made our plane later that night as a result of the extended waiting and re-planning tine. If you rent here, make sure that you plan well and are prepared. read more
