I am a disabled veteran living on less than $1200 a month income and Public Storage raised my rent last month to $635.00 a month. No 30 day written notice ever comes before they raise rent they just raise it every few months at their whim and expect people to just keep silent and pay it! I don't get any discounts for being elderly, disabled or a veteran and I've had this unit since 2018 so instead of trying to keep paying customers they increase the rent to drive them away! If you want a Storage unit you will be able to keep for awhile then DO NOT RENT FROM PUBLIC STORAGE! I am currently filling out forms for the District Attorneys Consumer Protection division and I am sending letters to all LAWMAKERS because they HAVE TO START REGULATING THESE STORAGE COMPANIES and PROTECTING CUSTOMERS AGAINST THE UNFAIR STORAGE PRACTICES that PUBLIC STORAGE IS GUILTY OF COMMITTING. To me, these folks are unethical. Three months after moving in my rate went up 60%. Several months later when I moved out on the 4th of the month, they wouldn't refund the rent I had prepaid through then end of the month (they don't pro-rate). Whoever is working closing shift on 9/21 is a very lazy person. I was here at 5:30 to transfer a unit, she told me I was too late? And that I'd have to come back tomorrow. I am disabled, I can't be driving a bunch and to come twice because she doesn't want to deal with it is ridiculous. Just moved into Public Storage this morning and so far I'm very pleased with the facility. I recently left my old storage facility because after six months they jacked up my rate considerably. It didn't make in unaffordable, but the place was pretty dilapidated, not climate controlled and poorly lit. I decided to rent a unit with PS because my mom used to rent here and I knew it was a clean, climate controlled and well lit facility. Moving in was done entirely online which made getting setup very easy. Aside from the nice, newer facility (old Carvin building) I also like that they have an app and blue tooth access control. The few cons that I've noted so far are that the carts they have here are really small compared to the ones at my old facility. Wish they had the larger Uline carts my old place had. I also think the Bluetooth access control panel at the elevator that I use is faulty because I tried it 4 or 5 times this morning and my app didn't work for it a single time. I had to punch my code every time. All in all, happy with the switch I made. Here's to hoping they don't Jack my rate up 20% like the last place did after a few months. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. This is for the PS on World Trade Dr. My storage rent went from $145 up to $198 which I simply cannot afford. So, I had to find cheaper storage elsewhere. I am a single woman with some mobility issues and had to find someone to help me move. On the 26th of September, I was almost out but still had a few items to move but needed to wait until Sunday after church to get movers for the heavier stuff. On Tuesday, I talked to the manager or so I thought and she said since my rent was due on the 2nd, as long as I was out by the 1st, it'd be ok. She jotted something down on paper and said that after the computers were back up, she'd make a note of it. Apparently, she forgot and they charged me for a full month, taking it out of my bank account even though I was completely out on Sunday. I understand that they don't prorate move-outs but I had the word of their employee that it was "all good". I am a woman of my word and I expect others to be as well. It may just be $198 to them, but it's a partial car payment to me. And it's bull that they will tell me something and not honor it. I will never give them any stars unless they fix this. read more

I found rat droppings in my storage units. I told the managers regarding the rat droppings and rodents numerous occasions but nothing has done to solve this issue. They increased the rent by more than double in less than 3 years, and when I was unable to access my unit due to a malfunctioning back door, no one ever called me back despite repeated calls to the manager. The malfunction- which they didn't even post on the outer door- cost me hours of time and unnecessary moving costs. The manager has changed and the new manager is much more responsive but the crazy rent increases and poor customer service in the past have left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

The customer service is fine. However when I was going through the application process and getting my account verified that is when it became very difficult. There was no one at the front desk to assist me even though I scheduled an appointment the day before. When reaching out to the property manager I was left with nothing. This is my second attempt at trying to get my account verified and have access to my unit I have also already paid and would like to utilize their services. read more

I have been Public Storage for over 5 years since March 10 2018, never was late on my monthly dues. I didnt enroll in an autopay because it was not needed. I was prorated when I moved in and and when I moved out last Sunday June 4th I was not prorated. I did the online to move out and called the manager left vm and nobody in the office all day. I got a return call after 4pm. He said to pay the balance so it will not put to collections. I got upset so told him to put it to collections. I paid the 4 days online. I did a follow up today after 11am and Mike said to vacate the space which I already did last Sunda. He said that an email will be sent out to me after he checks it (really after 2days since I moved out) I got an email that an autopay was authorized at 8:01 am today. I never authorized the autopay. This is fraud. Why would I authorize the autopay after I moved out? I am reporting this location for fraud. Other issue was no one to unlock the carts because no one reported to work between 10am-4pm. A lot of people tried to call the manager but no answer. Also outrageous increase. My son got stuck in the elevator 2x. This is the Pacific Heights location, they rip people off. read more

I rented 2 large storage units on the second floor. In the day of our big move we arrived with our moving truck and both of the large freight elevators were out of order leaving us with only a single small elevator to share with another group also doing a large move. Apparently these elevators had been out of service for more than a day already and there was no significant effort being put in to get them back up and running. We barely finished our move into the storage unit after about 5 hours. It should have only take a couple of hours at most. Some of our furniture barely fit into the small elevator and we couldn't use the dolly. I called the Regional manager on that day and left an urgent message for him to get back to me to explain why these elevators weren't being brought back into working order in a timely fashion. Today I finally got a call back from that manager. It is now over a week since I left the message. The 2 elevators are still not running and he has no real action plan to ensure this doesn't happen in the future. When I asked why it too him over a week to respond to me he said he's been working on getting the elevators working. I don't know about you, but that sounds like the most absurd excuse I've ever heard. Extremely unhappy with the lack of interest in supporting their customers. read more

Got a 10 x 15 unit here 3 years ago. During which the price increased over 50 percent. Their online payment systems doesn't work. It didn't take my charge card and I didn't know till a text message was sent with a late fee. It's interesting that part works but processing my payment doesn't. I called my local site manager. Little use she was. Couldn't take my payment over the phone. I said I shouldn't have to pay the $10 convenience fee since your payment system on the website isn't working. She didn't offer any solution accept to call their customer service line (which she give me the wrong number). I don't understand why she couldn't handle this? So don't expect any customer service there just rent increase. $$$$ Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I was impressed with Mike, the property manager. His work ethic and customer service are outstanding. He attentively listened to my needs and helped me from selection process to moving day. I was amazed that Mike had sticky notes with my name on the walls leading the way to the storage unit. That made the move a lot more efficient. The movers shared that in 10 years of career they were never treated this well by a storage facility manager. Even parking beyond a secure gate was orchestrated with selected spots for all of us that day, so the unloading from truck to elevator was a short path. Mike also gave us bottled waters and checked up on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. Normally moving is very stressful, and Mike's positivity, strategic-orientation, empathy and support made it all go smoothly. In addition, this specific facility made me feel safe. The neighborhood is great, and the facility is new-ish, modern, high-tech, secured with access codes every step of the way (from entrance, gates, to elevators), there are many security cameras throughout the facility, and it's super clean everywhere, including bathrooms. read more

I particularly would like to thank Andreas and David, two perfect gentlemen, who handled my transition to a larger space at the Rancho Bernardo facility this week, and Mikaela, who helped me with the initial steps online and made the transaction so simple. Public Storage is a top quality service, user-friendly online to search for the size of the space, 1st or 2nd floor, with pricing that beats other vendors (I compared extensively). The online reservation is easy to complete, with further instructions being emailed to you to activate your account. Once you complete the reservation and come to the facility, you realize it has several entrance options, with nearby elevators if your space is on the 2nd floor. The facility is very clean, well lighted and maintained and monitored in person by the Manager on site, and all of them are very helpful. Each entry point is accessible with your code and there are moving carts available at no charge for your convenience. Payments can be made online or in person. You always get a payment reminder email or text and a thank you message for your payment. Staff are always available by phone even after business hours posted on the door. I leased 2 storage units on the second floor of this facility. When we bought our house, we hired movers to move our furniture and boxes out. When we got here we found out that two of the large freight elevators were shut down by the city because they were non compliant. We were told to have the movers use the stairs and the one small elevator. This extended the time and labor for removing our things. The manager Dave was useless and was not interested in compensating us for our added costs. In addition, there was no prorate on the rent for vacating early even though the spaces could be rented by others This ace is in constant repair at the inconvenience of the customer. Along with the non working elevators, exit signs are broken . Do t both with this place. All they want or care about is your money. There is zero customer service read more

Imagine renting storage on the 2nd floor of a storage facility and going to said storage to move an 8 ft long 400 pound desk only to find your storage facility had turned off both of their freight elevators because they didn't have permits to operate them. And when asking the employee in the office what was going on to be told well you know Covid. Then imagine contacting the District Manager, Dave, to have him tell you something completely different stating "the elevators were broken" and when questioned about whether the permits were current Dave saying "who told you that?" And, then him not being able to tell us when or if they were going to be operational anytime soon. And, then when asked how we were supposed to get our piece of furniture out of their facility being told to that we had to either "put it in their standard elevator (no way to do this because too big) or take down stairs (again almost impossible to fit through door not to mention weight). And when given the facts of the size and weight being told "I gave you options." Yeah, well that's what happened to us at Public Storage on World Trade Center Drive. We had just sold the desk and already taken payment for the desk so had to contract an electronic stair climbing dolly and a laborer to help move it and what should have been a quick one hour delivery turned into a 4 hour, $250 back breaking event. Needless to say, we will be removing the rest of our stuff from this facility and gladly be using this example of poor service in our public speaking consulting practice. THe bottom line is...DO NOT USE THIS PLACE TO STORE YOUR STUFF. read more

Most Importantly though is the excellent customer service. When I was leaving my storage unit because I moved to Orange County, Jeremiah helped me out and was amazing. Be careful using Public Storage. They charge you for a full month even if you're only there one day. So let's say you move out on the first of the month, they still charge you for that entire month even though you were only in it for one day. That is definitely not fair to consumers. Nightmare? To say the absolute least! Quick question has anyone ever been arrested for burglarizing your storage unit while bill is fully paid and during business hours with code access and keys? Well I have just one small part of this storage nightmare on world trade drive. Work that little piece in with the thousands of dollars in hidden fees and that's what kind of experience you can expect from this place. Manager might as well be Freddy Kruger her self with the attitude of a wannabe wife of Orange County. No help whatsoever. Call the police because I looked suspicious even though I was a paying customer. Got arrested and lost my job after paying two thousand dollars to bail out on a crime which was of course dismissed and I wasn't even offered an apology instead they limited my access to office hours. I was shocked. I went to move out and they said they would call the police again if I didn't pay them two thousand dollars. They held my storage hostage. I can't believe this actually happened. Don't walk run RUN..... one two public storage is coming for you....3....4 better lock your door5....6... management is incompetent! read more
