I signed up for a storage unit at StorAmerica about a year ago at a rate of $69 per month. Over the…read morepast year, without any notice or communication, they raised my rate to $95 a month. To make matters worse, when I had a small $1.90 balance on my account, they locked me out of my unit. This happened on the exact day I had moving trucks and family members in from out of town ready to help me move. I couldn't access my belongings until the following week when I was finally able to get in touch with the district manager. It's hard to understand how they can justify increasing the rent without adding any value or notifying their customers. The lack of transparency and poor handling of the situation made a stressful time even harder. If zero stars were an option, that's what I would give. I would never recommend StorAmerica to anyone. *********************** Response to Owners comment below: Your response is exactly why this facility has a 1.4-star rating. Here are the actual facts: * I moved in during June of last year at $69/month. In December, the rate was raised to $76, and just last month it was raised again to $96. That is a 37.7% increase in less than one year--without a single notice of either increase. I've received every other mailed notice from StorAmerica, including lock notices, but never once about these rent hikes. * To put that in perspective, the self-storage industry standard for annual rent increases is 5-10%, with some operators occasionally raising rates by 8-15%. A nearly 40% increase in one year is far outside industry norms, and calling it "standard" is misleading at best. * I have provided all of my statements from this entire year, which clearly show I have not had a single delinquent balance. The only time my unit was locked was over $1.90 in April taxes. Before that lockout, I called and was told directly by your front desk staff that the $1.90 would roll into the next invoice and did not require a separate payment. Despite following your staff's instruction, I was locked out of my unit anyway. * The "$10 discount" you reference was a one-time courtesy, not an ongoing deduction. None of my invoices show this as recurring, making your claim misleading. Now this isn't about $1.90 or even just the rent increase--it's about dishonesty, lack of transparency, and unprofessional conduct. A nearly 40% increase in a year is not "standard" in this industry, and your public response misrepresents the facts of my account in an attempt to shift blame. If customer care and transparency were your priorities, you'd start with accuracy and accountability--two things this location is sorely lacking.

TENANTS BEWARE: Update 11/6/2023:…read moreTawny from the facility left us a message stating the tenant next to us didn't damage our vehicle, emphasizing the damage on his doesn't "match" up to our RV. I returned her call: 1. Our RV is not there to compare damage to reach her conclusion. We took photos of the other tenants' 5th wheel once it was back in its spot. Documenting possible damage with a measuring tape with photos. 2. She said it isn't any different than getting hit in a parking lot! I said it is because everyone there is PAYING for storage at her facility. 3. She said the other tenant is a teacher and a really nice, respectable man, has been there for 7 years, and she just knows he couldn't have done it. I said, "Maybe he didn't know he did it." She said she had a conversation with him: "He hasn't returned our calls because he felt it was a waste of time. The damage on his 5th wheel happened 2 years ago. The damage doesn't match ours." Keep in mind-they haven't seen the damage up except for a couple of close-up pics. No comparison to reach their conclusion. Yet, the other tenant called his insurance agent but won't return our calls! Hmmmn.... 4. She also said no one is required to have insurance on her lot. I thought it was in the contract. She said it wasn't. Apparently, they don't realize if someone knocks down or any other form of an accident like a fire, to her common covers and other stored vehicles, she may be responsible. 5. She said she is not a corporate storage facility, just a private family owned business for 25 years, which is why they don't require insurance and any form of proof of insurance. She said we are trashing her family owned business. Well Tawni, what would YOU do if this happened to your RV after only being there 5 days?! 6. Conclusion, If you're stored there, just beware. Cheap storage is not always best if you have a really nice rig you care about. Original: Moved our new RV into a covered space October 14. Was only there for 5 days before the tenant next to ours, with a 5th wheel side swiped our RV, causing significant monetary damage while pulling his trailer out. Owners of the facility DO NOT require copies of tenants' insurance. They were only willing to call the other tenant and said they left a message without any return call. Looking around, I'd guess many folks there don't have insurance. They provided the tenants' phone # to us after several days. We left several messages with no returned calls. The owner said nothing more they can do. Requested name and address of tenant. They wouldn't provide it. Was told cameras don't work. So anyone can do anything and get away with it. Owners don't care. Gave them our notice to vacate. The least they could have done is give us the other tenants' info. Next step: Lawyer up to get the other info of the tenant causing the damage.
