Back in August of 2023, I was lied too. I was leaving a domestic violence relationship when I went to this storage so I was in a rush as well as barely had any money to my name. Payed for a Uhaul, I went to move my belongings that night when my help got off work and it was supposed to be where you can get into the unit after office hours and it would have a combination lock on the door , put the code in and your regular locks would be in the unit. When I asked if I could bring my own locks in they told me I had to purchase theirs which were super expensive. If you didn't return combination lock you'd be charged a fee etc.. well I drove from Rancho Cordova to Roseville, went to go into my unit around 8 and it's open til 10, got their and their was no combination lock it was a different lock. Called the number and knocked.. no answer . My only option was to pay for the Uhaul ANOTHER NIGHT and to go again the next evening.. I lost a couple people to help unload Uhaul cuz they couldn't come again the next day. And I had to wait another day, meaning paying another day of Uhaul, driving from Roseville back to Rancho Cordova again, which added more mileage to the uhaul. Meaning extra fees for mileage and the day. And more gas. A Uhaul uses A-LOT OF GAS. Spoke to make number they said they would make sure it was ready. Went again the next day around 7pm, got there and it was locked once again! No combination lock for me to get into the unit. We were calling and calling because I had to leave the house I was at as it was unsafe because of violence with my in laws and I got stuck staying another night the first night and couldn't do it again as it was my last day to get out of their. My aunt went banging on the storage front door. No answer . We heard someone in the backyard so my aunt started yelling for someone to come out to get us in our unit, and someone came finally opened up the unit and gave us the locks. I should have known from this issue, that it was gonna be continuous issues. We moved my stuff in, next day I spoke with someone . They said that they would issue me credit towards my next bill for the cost of the extra night of the Uhaul, double gas, and for the issues and that it would waive my next month's bill since I did a $1 sign on bonus which was actually almost $90 because of the storage locks even though I had my own, but they lied said I had to use theirs but online states I can return those and use my own but I didn't find out for a few weeks after. Well first months bill, I seen the price it was over $200!! That's not even what they quoted me for over the phone!! Called the main phone number to corporate. They said they would work on it and not to worry someone would reach out within 24 hours . Remind you at this time I'm now homeless, pregnant with 2 kids because I had to leave the violence. Well no one reached back. A day after my bill was due, I get LOCKED OUT OF THE GATE AND can't GET TO MY STUFF! A day after !! No grace period apparently. That means I can't get my cloths. I was nearly living out of my storage everyday needing certain things. No one called. I kept calling corporate they said they would have the district manager call me within 24 hours but never received a call. Called back again, my mother wanted to help me downsize as I was about to pop I was close to my due date and high risk pregnancy as is. My mother stated to them what corporate said and he said it was written the manager called but it wouldn't ring. That's a lie. So they said he would call again. Never did . I found a program to help homeless pay . I called and stated a program wanted to pay a portion of my bill which was almost $500, because of them sending me in circles. They said the program couldn't pay on my behalf. After making a big issue they finally let them pay. Now my bill is at $0 and we were trying to figure out the issues for my credits from the uhaul. Corporate said manager would call me. Never did ONCE AGAIN. At this point I went into labor, was hospitalized for a while , and I get out to find a letter saying my stuff is about to be in an auction. My friend who works for a storage unit said they were handling everything wrong. I never once received a call about my unit being behind on the bill or any letters . Not once did anyone call me . It was me always calling them. And then I get a letter about my unit going up for auction. My friend spoke with a manager their, theirs a hardship program that she mentioned so the manager called me about it and I paid $200 to get what I could you have 24 hours to move your belongings. And I donated half my unit because I had no where to put any of my items yet. read more

Okay, I made the reservation online for $36 for a 5X5 cube to store a few things for my son as I am retiring and moving out of the area. I've had a garage the last few years (10+) and haven't had the need to rent a storage unit. I called the day before (talked to an individual called Jason) I wanted to find out if I could do the paperwork remotely, or online. I was told no you need to "come in", I also confirmed the price and was again advised to "come in". Jason might have mentioned that insurance was mandatory on the phone, but he didn't. When I "went in" the next day and was getting ready to make a 6month advance payment, I was then told that insurance was going to be between 11 and 13 dollars more mandatorily, this is not a voluntary add on; it is apparently either a state law or company policy (it wasn't clear which... yet regardless it was not negotiable, and was an additional add on amount) not transparently advertised as part of the expenses of the rental. When I objected, and asked why wasn't this clearly stated on the website, and or expressed when I had called the previous day. All I got was something equivalent to a shrug. I didn't think this was acceptable, and was borderline false advertising, so of course I expressed this sentiment; I still got nothing even bordering on empathy or understanding from the person behind the counter (Jason). Just a kind of a "oh well" attitude. I then requested that he make it known to the owner, or his manager (his tag said he was the manager...god help)... he again shrugged, and said he would. His uninterested attitude didn't provide me with the reassurance I was looking for. It was hard to believe my concern even mattered to him. Without a lot of faith in his ability to express my disappointment to the lack of transparency, I requested he pick up the phone, and make that phone call while I was there. He did this to his credit, although he didn't really present the frustration I felt over the lack of transparency in this transaction. It seemed like he was basically afraid or obviously not going to push the boundaries with the person on the other end of the line. It was then pointed out to me via this phone call that the small print at the bottom of the page stated that "addtional taxes or insurance might be applicable". However, my confirmation email from them regarding the reservation, where it detailed what I would need when I came in, had nothing at all regarding the "mandatory" insurances. All in all, after this phone call to the owner, Jason got off the phone and basically was indignant and smug that he had proved me wrong about the advertising. I attempted to point out to him that it wasn't transparent or clearly stated in the confirmation email; wasn't customer friendly or helpful to not tell the customer about this "mandatory" expense until they were ready to pay or had "come in". At this point, Jason went off on me (when did the customer being right end???) and said "why are you coming at me about this, I'm not the owner, I just work here, and besides everyone does this on their webpage." Right!! so everyone does it and if it is pointed out I guarantee you not everyone argues with the customer or attacks them when they are audacious enough to reject this policy of putting a mandatory charge at the bottom of a webpage in SMALL PRINT. This is not Acceptable, and if I am the paying customer, I have the right to complain, and request something better, something more explicit with regards to "mandatory" charges. Jason pissed me off so badly, I walked out the door with the statement: "I'll go somewhere else to rent a storage unit, and I don't like you". We all have choices, (this is why we have Yelp) and as consumers we have the ability to change things (even if that is the way everyone does it). We should not accept or agree to pay for charges which are not visible when we make a commitment. This is tantamount to false advertising; and on top of that, we don't expect the person behind the counter to be argumentative and less than interested in our concerns. Jason needs to grow up, treat women and their concerns with serious respect, and never stoop to the level of reacting personally to the customer's complaint. It was not a personal problem, it was a business situation that attitudinally Jason could have been more empathetically aligned to the customer and the concern. As a manager, that is his job; if he can't listen to a customer's complaint then he needs to look for another job. Nope won't ever us Cube Smart! Customer Service apologized, (yes I called corporate) but it won't change that they lost me as a customer. read more

I contacted cubesmart to let them know I was no longer giving authorization for them to take auto payment after May. My granddaughter removed her possessions from the unit yesterday May 2, 2019. I notified cubesmart as such and requested a refund for the difference. They responded there is no refund. So I told them not to rent the unit out for the duration of May. They told me they had already rented it out. I informed them my granddaughter would be using the unit for the rest of the month. I was told my account was closed. Don't rent here!!! read more

Easy check in and nice person at desk. My 2 musts! Pretty much what is expected ftom a storage place. That long winded review about how discourteous Jadon was by "Wouldn't" is only because he probably was exasperated by the person who obviously hasnever rented a storage unit before. If she gad she would have already known that pretty much ALL of them require insurance on top and some even tack on another weird charge called protection fee orsomething. Great hours, easy access, clean and friendly. I've had my storage over a year and I've never had any serious issues. Even when I pay late or have switched to a smaller unit. The only complaint I have is when they forget to turn the lights on in your building and you have to work in the dark haha but it's really no big deal to go ask them to switch it on if you really need it. read more

I'm actually really upset with this company . Some how a cat got into the units and peed on everything in multiple units. One person got a refund of their payment and well, me, I didn't get anything. I've been asking about this is 11/27/2017 yet I haven't heard a response. I call and ask and hear nothing about it. Over 1000 worth of stuff is damaged. And I can't just afford to get a new bed and living room set due to this. read more

I never write yelp reviews, but they deserve 0 stars. I was storing at this facility for over a year. I notified them that i was moving my belongings out December 31st. I asked the girl with no personality at the desk if there was anything I needed to do or sign. She said "nope". December 31st I moved my stuff out. 3 months later I get a call saying that the lock was off my locker and they assumed I have moved out. I reminded them that I moved out in December and had no lock on the locker. They said "you mean you haven't noticed you've been charged for the last 3 months?" I then spoke to the manager and he refused to be helpful whatsoever and refused to refund the $300 they over charged me due to their own negligence. Worst business. Do not go there. They are crooks and this isn't the first time they've pulled a quick one on someone. read more

I love this storage unit facility. The staff is very friendly and it is conveniently located in the center of town. Easy access to your unit, gated and 24 hour surveillance so you don't have to worry about anyone stealing your belongings. A++ for these guys read more

It was Christmas Eve and I needed a storage FAST. I called around and got some ridiculous pricing and rude people that did want to help because they were ready to leave wk early due to it being a day before xmas. I get it but if your at wk just do your job. Any way...I called Cube Smart and spoke to a man through the 800# and he was so nice and extremely helpful. I don't remember his name but I am grateful to have gotten him. After making my reservation and got to the Greenback location I was greated by Sivon (something around that name) she moved fast but didn't rush and it was a pleasure dealing with her. Horrible customer service, I've dropped in twice trying to get a storage unit after getting a reservation online, and both times I was turned away by the ice queen. When I walked in the office the reaction was the same both times, she was put out that I has come at an inconvenient time for her work schedule. I won't be going back a third time. They staff one employee so if your trying to go on your lunch break or after you get off work be prepared to be treated like a dirty piece of lunch meat, because they wouldn't dare put your business before their regularly scheduled breaks or end of their work day. Apparently they like you to come in by appointment only, and it takes 30 minutes to complete a storage unit rental transaction so if you show up between 11 and noon or 5-6, they will be happy to see you walk out so they don't have to work one minute extra! Note to cube smart corporate your breeding this culture by being understaffed and not having staggered brakes and lunches. You had the best prices in the area but I'm taking my business elsewhere on principal now. Using a privately owned storage facility would be ideal because the staff/owner would have an incentive to be receptive to customers it coming at the ideal moment for them. Not sure if all storage facilities raise their rates annually, but Cube Smart does. They do this annually. Really not a good incentive to stay with one facility if you are still needing their services after one year. Rent goes up about $10.00 each year and on top of that they charge a $4.00 convenience fee to pay on the automated phone system and $2.00 to pay on line. Does not make good business sense if you are wanting to build up your customer base and keep those customers. read more

The manager and general manager doesn't know what are doing when they refund your money back to debit card. They have a sign said that if you pay with cash then corporate send you a check in the mail. I paid with my debit card, so they try to put a fast one on me. The district manager need to trained his general manager how to get refunds to customers when they paid with debit card. I wouldn't recommend nobody this storage place unless the general manager will give you the run around. The district manager told me that the accounting have 72 hours to refund my money back to my debit card or I will dispute the charges. The 72 hours started yesterday and end Wednesday at noon. They told me that I have move out within 24 hours the time that I set up on 8/3/16. I move out on 8/4/16, but I within my 24 hours. Please select another storage space. Extra Space Storage. They refund my money back on my debit card with no problems. Please read this carefully before going with them. read more

I only give it a 2 and not a 1 because the place is clean and convienient. The employees are rude and unhelpful . Jason is a jerk and he's the onsite manager. They will over charge you, lie about being able to adjust,fix and ratify your account. You will need to watch your account because they will raise it on you as often as they want . You'll try and dispute it he will come up with some kind of lie and by the time you get an answer or try to dispute it with a district manager Jason has already called and changed your information on the computer to justify his lies. Facility wise good place but employee manager wise watch out. Was charged 2 x in one month and still 6 months later am having to try to get my money back . I am now having yo take what should have been a simple refund this to court . All over $100! .Never had a problem that wasn't and couldn't be fixed until Jason started managing the place. Now more problems than one could imagine. Finally changed storage places. read more
