DO NOT RENT HERE - Dirty Scammy Storage CubeSmart has low intro offers and because they increase your rent every 6 months. My price hike was $11. I started at $57/month with a mandatory $12 "protection plan", so I was paying $69/month. At the 6 month mark they arbitrarily increased my base price to $68, making my monthly rent $80. To put this in perspective, I rented a larger U-Haul storage unit for $89 for 2.5 years right before I switched to CubeSmart because I moved. The price never fluctuated. If I kept the unit at Cubesmart for the same length of time, I'd be paying $124/month for a smaller, poorly maintained unit. Also, I truly despise working with U-Haul. They have terrible business practices and try to steal money from you. But CubeSmart is just as bad if not worse. When I called to discuss the price with the manager, he argued with me that these rent increases were standard practice (untrue), that U-haul must've gotten me in at such a high price they didn't have to raise the rent ever (also not true as I was close to paying the same after 6 months at CubeSmart that I did for over 2 years at U-haul), and that there was nothing they would do to reduce the price. He told me I could move out if I didn't like it and go somewhere else. So...that's exactly what I did! Also, when I moved my stuff out, there was rodent poop all over the floor and my belongings. U-haul at least provided some pest control by placing traps in the storage unit. I never had any poop in my storage unit there and it was all the same stuff that I was storing. When I addressed this at the office the front desk employee gave me a blank stare, offered no assistance, no compensation, and told me that the "protection plan" I was forced to sign up for didn't cover that. They also claim they are top ranked because of their customer service and I'm sorry, but that's a lie. read more

This CubeSmart location is superior than another CubeSmart that I visited. I like how the building is tall so there are fewer units in each floor. It feels safer that way for some reason. The ladies that worked in the office was very friendly and helpful. Initially I was planning to move from a smaller unit to a bigger one once all my stuff got moved across the country using a cube. She gave me an option to do so and showed me where I could park my cube for a few days so I could unload everything. Minus 1 star since you need to buy insurance or use your home insurance to cover your unit. It's good for sure, but I don't know why it's a requirement. I ended up only needing the storage for a very short time, but I had all around a great experience. read more

I could already tell from the get-go that the conversation wasn't going to go well based on the tone, but Michael proceeded to insult my inquiry by explaining how walls work. My question was based on pricing relative to existing versus new customers, which as an existing customer, is usually fair anywhere you go. I actually enjoyed CubeSmart up until this point and Matthew, who I usually spoke to at that location, was great. I'd recommend a different option (there are a TON in Austin) if Michael is now managing this location. I'm now prioritizing moving my things elsewhere. read more

The rodent poop is out of control. The smell about knocks you over and when I entered my unit there was poop over EVERYTHING and HOLES CHEWED IN MY BAGS ruining not only the bags but clothes they were holding. Actual rodent dander in my unit. I first noticed the problem back in January and complained to staff who was nice and told me they were aware of problem and that it had been resolved. I cleaned the dander and poop and reluctantly had to leave my belongings there when I returned back to Texas four months later, and went to my unit last night I noticed the smell was even worse when I entered the building, and when I got to my unit, it was covered and poop and dander again new holes, chewed in things as I am taking my belongings out of the unit, I have to shake everything thoroughly before putting it in my car scared what kind of diseases these rodents carry and I'm probably going to throw a third of all my stuff away. It's disgusting and yeah check about prices before you rent here cause I started out three years ago at around 60 bucks a month and now I am up to over $100 a month, I might as well be keeping my stuff in a barn. read more

Good experience moving in, moving out was very difficult. It was very hard getting a hold of someone at this location. I paid my September bill but moved out on the 7th, was told this location does not give refunds for remaining days. Customer service needs to improve at this location, answer your phones and return voicemails. read more

I called CubeSmart Self Storage to request a quote and was told that if I'm renting long term that the monthly rate could potentially increase at any time. Although renters would be notified, for those of us looking to rent long term because we will be living out of town, if the rental cost were to suddenly double in price we do not have the luxury of coming back to Austin to find a more affordable unit. Unfortunately, this facility was not able to guarantee that a rate would be locked in or that it would only increase by a certain amount if it did increase. Therefore, I would be at their mercy. Fortunately I was able to find another facility that offered me a fixed monthly rate. This place gets two stars because it would have been a convenient location for me. I wish I had been able to do business with them. read more

I feel like my stuff is secure and safe here but when I came to drop off my stuff today they were completely out of carts. It's a pain to have to make several trips back and forth carrying very heavy items when it could have been done in one trip with the use of a cart. Unimpressed. Not convenient. read more

The flow of the buildings is nice and because they are new we were able to get multiple storage units side by side. First off, I've had the *pleasure* of having to store a number of things through various storage companies, and I just moved out of Cubesmart and am flabbergasted as to how other companies (cough*public storage*cough) can make the move out / cancel our monthly account so difficult, and yet, Cubesmart was a breeze! Truly. Druzella, the manager, both emailed me and called me if there were any questions, offered to sweep my unit if it needed it to check out (I was out of state) and was just generally a pleasure. I am such a fan of them, and hope this is an indication of how they, as a company, operate. If that's the case, I would use them - hands down - in an instant if I needed it. The units are clean, easy to access, secure, and the operations were so smooth. How does everyone else get it so wrong? Ha. read more

Great experience at CubeSmart Self Storage on East Ben White in SE Austin. This is a brand-new and very well-managed facility. Druzella, the general manager, is great to work with - friendly, organized, and a very good communicator. The facility is brand-new, clean, energy-efficient (w. good AC), strong security, and a good layout. It's conveniently located off 71/290. I found the pricing very fair (they had a special on the first month) considering that superior service and facility. I've used other national chains in other cities and spoke with other some other options locally before deciding on this CubeSmart. Glad I went with them. They exceeded all expectations! read more
