Everything food and interior here was immaculate - from the creative and stunning interior to even the aptly decorated and super clean bathrooms, this place is full immersion experience. Staff were very knowledgeable about the most popular options, but rushed us a bit through our dinner. Do not sleep on their non-alc menu - the southeast asian drinks were really well-paired with their food options. Highly recommend the pickle plum soda and jasmine ice tea! The fresh sugarcane juice was sold out by the time we got there. The crispy duck curry is a must-get, not too spicy, and they balance the acidity with every dish so well. The hamachi crudo was such a unique and well-balanced take with beautiful presentation. The crispy eggplant banh xeo fulfills any fried savory craving. The clay pot lobster pad thai also slaps, but the lobster was a bit overcooked. The southeast asian flavors here are unmatched though, and I would definitely come back again with friends. Some street parking nearby, but almost impossible to find on weekend.

Wow. Just wow. The atmosphere, the menu, the service. All were impeccable. I tried to book a reservation on the website weeks before coming to town. Still, after a business-happy hour, we walked over to try if there was space at the bar. There were 9 requests ahead of us. I put in for it and sat. I'm n the website was a bonus scratch-off promo for points on the Lettuce app. Something came open or Lettuce app is the one to check and there was an opening for 8:15 (20 mins) for 2. I grabbed it and let the host stand know to remove us from the list and we would take the table. ‍ We were seated in 10 mins, in the back of the restaurant in a cozy little corner. Perfect. I ordered a Thai iced tea and dug into the menu. My husband settled on the garlic glass noodles. He would be in for a chicken dish but the waiter confirmed all the chicken is dark meat. I order a stir fry chicken basil with crispy rice. Unfortunately the first try was so salty that it burned my mouth. It was bad. They remade and I noticed the sauce was missing. It was fine after without the juice. Way too salty. I had them pack it up to take it away with me. It took too long to come back and my husband was done. We moved on to dessert. The toasted coconut ice cream Sunday was nice. Icy ice cream. Not so creamy but creamy enough with the toasted crunch of the peanut and coconut. The caramel sauce was in the bottom. Very nice palette cleanser. There's a speakeasy in the basement. Very posh. Worth a stop if you like Thai food or are adventurous. Not so much for picky eaters. Do not bring kids.

With all the hype surrounding this restaurant, we were happy to snag a prime reservation to celebrate my wife's birthday. Definitely consistent with Lettuce Entertainment restaurants throughout Chicago. As an aside. I wish every city had a restaurant operator who could deliver the variety, consistent quality and value that Lettuce Entertainment provides. Drinks were excellent despite a chipped edge that was quickly replaced by the waiter. We had the shrimp toast, stickers, fried rice ball and Lobster Pad Thai. All were incredibly delicious. Price out the door for 3 with drinks , appetizers and 2 mains was $225 before tip. Worth it.

Hey friends! It's been minute. Sorry, I've been socializing but here's the deets! This is my first time coming to this restaurant and I'm quite happy to say it went very well. Now, as always these are my opinions and I think you should still try dishes I do not favor; tastebuds vary. App: Wagyu beef & Crudo. 20/10 so amazing. Wagyu beef is served warmed with mint and other greens. Crudo had the perfect crunch and spice. The Wagyu appetizer was so delicious I made it a meal with rice. Very filling. The sticky rice I originally ordered was very burnt. I understand "that's how it's made" but Sunda would never. Basically, I've had sticky rice that was burned and tasted so. Not a favorite at all. I swapped the sticky rice for Jasmin rice and it was fabulous. The espresso martini had a sweet licorice taste. I sent it back for the milk punch! The milk punch is delicious. Not milt but a smooth filtered creamy taste. It's not milt at all it's actually clear. 20/10 There's a slo a Resiling we had a the table. It was very delicious! I had 2 lol. Overall, I'd go back and plan to. The ambiance was fabulous. I'd recommend yellows, greens, blues, blacks, blush, jeweled tones for your outfit colors. I chose black bodysuit, jean, scarf, leather jacket, and gold shoes paired with a studded leather clutch. 20/10 experience. Follow me for more . Wow! What a great experience. I came by myself and sat at the bar area and the ambiance inside was really great! I loved the decor and the lighting! The bar tender was super nice too and she helped me decide on a main dish and drink option. I got the tom kha Kai and it was amazing. Light, very flavorful, and had plenty of meat and veggies. I also got the plum drink and it was one of the best beverages I've had! It was a more sour and savory drink with the plum. Very unique! The only thing that was a little funny was I had come in around 6:30/7 pm and asked to be on the waitlist. The hostess told me I was 9th on the waitlist and couldn't give me a wait time, which was fine. She wrote down my phone number and said they would text me when I was up. I decided to walk around and hangout since I figured it would be a while anyways. 2 hours go by and I haven't heard anything, so I went back to the restaurant just to see how far I've moved on the waitlist. to my surprise I was no longer on the waitlist anymore! They didn't text me and perhaps my number got inputted wrong. However they were really accommodating and sat me down about 15 ish minutes after I came in at 9 pm.

Finally snagged a reservation here and OMG, completely worth the hype! The restaurant itself is STUNNING, even down to the bathroom. Our appetizers were the crudo, prawn toast, and wagyu beef salad and every single one was phenomenal. The presentation of the crudo was adorable and we loved how spicy it was. For mains, we did roti with the duck curry and the rolled rice noodles which were so interesting but packed with flavor. The drinks were on the pricier side but delicious, nonetheless. We were able to snag a table downstairs for a drink but we will be back!!

The hype is so real!!! I had been dying to try Crying Tiger since it opened, and it did not disappoint!! The interior design alone is breathtaking the second you walk in the door, and ambiance is a vibe! I dined out with a group of friends for a special occasion, and our bottle of champagne was brought out with a personalized greeting card! My friends and I shared multiple dishes, and the lobster pad Thai and shaking beef were my favorite! I cannot wait to go back and try more dishes!

I liked it; I didn't love it. Should you try this place? Absolutely. Should you go at a weird time late at night just to make it happen (if you're not a night owl)? No. The hype will eventually die down and it'll be more attainable and less chaotic. We showed up for our 9:30 reservation and weren't seated until 10pm (Lolla weekend). We weren't allowed to get a drink at the bar or get a drink and bring it back to the waiting area. Womp womp. Once seated, Wah took great care of us. She helped answer questions and made sure we always had room on the table for more incoming dishes of food. The space is beautiful. You feel transported into a lush, luxurious jungle of sorts. Apparently people come in just for the basement bathrooms. They're gorgeous, don't get me wrong. Maybe I was too sleepy for midnight selfies? The dishes I'd get again are highlighted here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DbrwJHnstQ3/?igsh=amVodmMwMjR3eHYy I will say, I appreciate that the restaurant sent over a comp salad and cheesecake for our table to try and make up for the wait. What's better than free food? A better first impression. I think this kind of thing will get better as it's around longer. I'd love to come back again on a normal day maybe around happy hour. I bet the vibe will be way better/more chill.

I really liked this restaurant. You can truly tell they have put a lot of effort and thought into the atmosphere. The decorations are gorgeous and so unique combined with a playlist that genuinely gives it a cool energy. Food was fantastic. We had the wagyu appetizer, basil chicken, and mushroom glass noodles and everything tasted so fresh and was so filling. The absolute cherry on top was the crying tiger dessert. Literally going to be craving it for the rest of my life. The hostess and waitress were very friendly.

A fun, sensory way to celebrate a birthday! Did not have reservations; walked in right at opening time and were able to sit at the bar as a party of 3. Not sure why so many other tables stayed empty, but the bar seating was comfortable regardless. The space feels straight out of the White Lotus. Tropical decor, with rich colors and textures. We tried several cocktails, but the freezer martini was the crowd favorite. Be warned though- it's strong! The prawn toasts are a must try, and the lamb/roti and papaya salad rounded out the meal. Our servers were informative and engaging, and even brought out some sorbet on the house. This is certainly not a cheap meal, but perfect for special occasions, and you will not be disappointed by Chicago's latest Thai restaurant concept.

We finally got a reservation at crying tiger and we were so excited! Needless to say, we got there about 15 mins early to take in the ambience and vibes. Got out table on time and dived straight into our meticulously planned order. For entree we had the crispy pork belly and the wagyu short rib Khao Soi. The pork belly was incredible, soft and crunchy at the same time, sitting on an incredible jus for us to soak up all the flavour. The khao soi was as fresh a salad can get with the mint leaves, crispy onions, tender short rib and the fish sauce holding it all together. For mains the Maine lobster pad thai was the star attraction. I felt the lobster itself was incredible but the pad Thai didn't have any oomph factor. A good but not a great dish in my opinion. Also, a tad bit too salty. For dessert our server preordered the crying tiger in advance which was very sweet of her. Initially we had thought the dessert was mainly for the reels but we were wrong! Hard chocolate shell with an incredible banana and caramel cream mixture. Excellent way to end the night. Aiming to be back there soon and try all the others things on our list, as soon as we can get another reservation. ;)

I've been trying to come to this restaurant for forever and was able to get a reservation. We were able to try so many items and all of it was delicious. Probably one of the best meals I've had in a long long time. You really can't go wrong with anything. The famous tiger dessert is very banana forward so if you aren't into that, I wouldn't recommend but I thought it was great. The service was amazing and the bathrooms were also so nice! The inside was very chic.

Ask the Community - Crying Tiger

    Can reservation be sat earlier?

I arrived a little early and still had to wait 10-15 minutes after my reservation time to get sat. The whole entry area was filled with people waiting for their reservations.

Does the whole party need to be present before you will be seated?

No. I had a party of two and they sat me before my friend arrived

    Do they take walk ins?

Yes; however, getting a table depends on whether any reservations are cancelled. The bar is first come first serve.

Did not wait too long but my family does not like waiting at all Ordered the soup to share- total win. I could have poured that juice in like water it was so good. The lemongrass and fresh ginger. Reminded me of the food we ate in Vietnam. Lots of shrimp, fresh mushrooms and a nice amount for a family of 4 before our meals. I ordered the Talay Pad Pong. That sauce once again made me shake my head. Could not believe how flavorful and unique it was. I shared a tiny bit with my family. Just enough to get a try of their Pad Thai. Pad Thai: I'm always like common branch out. This one did not taste anything like any other pad Thai we have had before. It was silky and saucy. Like a Thai broth- not dry like some just barely covering the noodles. Fill our two teenage boys up. Okay, dessert. Came for the mango sticky rice . Did not disappoint. We got 1 to share. Bad move. Next time 4. One for each of us. I have no idea how they made this but it was moist, purple. Sweet mango. Really kind of a dream come true. Kanom Tuay next: not really a sharing dessert, but we did. It sits in a coconut wet custard, mochi like balls- small. Very hot. In a hurry to beat our parking meter we ate quickly and learned next time. Mango sticky rice wins our tongue. Anyways, this place is vibrant , cute, friendly and delicious! Go check it out.

Indeed, this spot did not let me down! It is a small Thai restaurant in West Loop, with a large menu featuring monthly specials and quite a few dishes I rarely find in other Thai restaurants in U.S. For food, we ordered the following: 1. Khao Ka Moo: a stewed pork hock platter served with rice, pickled mustard greens, shitake mushrooms, sauce (similar to soy-sauce) and egg (which I opted out). It was my first time to have pork hock in a Thai restaurant. The meat was juicy and the skin was mouth-melting. Highly recommended. 2. JJ Tiger Cry: Basically grilled ribeye served with Thai style sides. The ribeye was cooked at ~medium well. I wish it could be a fattier cut and cooked for a shorter time, but my friend thought the temp. was perfect for her. It was served with a Thai sauce and cabbage+carrot slaw. 3. Green Curry Chicken: my sister's entree. The curry tasted refreshing and flavorful. It was also great that the dish came with both rice noodles and jasmine rice, so you can try both of them -- indeed, the rice noodles, after soaking it in the green curry, tasted heavenly! 4. Yum Hed. Grilled mushroom salad. There were shitake and king oyster mushroom. Served over a bed of fresh lettuce and a kind of spciy, sour sauce. Great as a side. 5. Guay Tiew Tom Tum Koong: Shrimp and rice noodles served in a generous bowl of Tom Yum Soup. It also had much veg. Unfortunately, I am allergic to some seafood so for safety I did not try this dish. Overall, the dishes are of medium sizes, but definitely enough for us. Service was friendly and quick. I may try more dishes the next time I visit Chicago.
