    Goat Empanadas

We came here for date night. Food at Cabra is designed to be shared and they have a substantial gluten-free menu that also have celiac specific indicators (which is super cool so gold star). On the non-gluten-free side of things, I decided I had to have the goat empanadas and they certainly lived up to the hype. The real star of the show, however, was the tuna tataki which was gluten-free. The steak saltado was also delicious. The rooftop location is definitely a great vibe and we will hope to make it back in the near future.

Food: We ordered a mix of stuff from their grazing hour menu and regular dinner menu. The food was all okay but really stood out and the portions were very small for the price. Ambiance: the space is very big, open, and bright especially on a sunny day. Service: everyone was very nice and attentive although we did notice that they'd clear our plates without asking if we were finished.

Finally visited Cabra, which completed my list of trying all the Stephanie Izard Chicago restaurants! My friend and I did not have a reservation for a random Tuesday night but were able to grab seats up at the bar. First order of business was drinks and man do they make a good pisco sour here! Later I tried the Hu-Go Girl cocktail, which was also refreshing and delicious. For food, we split a few dishes starting with the goat empanadas, which I thought were just ok. Our favorite was the salmon ceviche - really yummy, definitely add on the chips. And then we tried the crab causa, which was a little disappointing - I would skip next time. I have to say that food-wise, Cabra is my least favorite of the Izard pack but I would come back for the drinks and fun ambiance.

This restaurant is upstairs in the Hoxton Hotel. We sat out on the heated patio by the fireplace. I loved the Hu-go Girl cocktail And the blackberry sangria cabra cooler. The chicken empanadas were fantastic. The crust was flaky and delicious and the chicken was perfectly seasoned. The chicken thigh skewers were also tasty. Service was excellent! Highly recommend for a great dinner!

Ambiance - located on the rooftop, casual, bar in the middle of the restaurant, super spacious Service - our server was nice & friendly, food came out quickly Food - love their avocado dip (balanced flavors & love the idea of taro chips), chicken thigh anticucha was cooked to perfection

Cabra was excellent. Our server was super helpful with drinks and food orders and both were delicious. My favorite dishes were the chorizo queso and the crispy pork shank. The queso came with two types of dippers that were both really good even by themselves and dip was cheesy and delicious but also kinda herby and had a really unique flavor. The pork shank was an experience that I highly recommend. You get two different sauces and little pitas and get to make little pita pockets. The pork just falls right off the bone, sooooo good. The spicy tuna dip was a surprise #3 for me. I really liked the seaweed chips and the dip had just the right amount of spice. The shishitos were also pretty solid. The salmon ceviche was another surprise for me since I'm not usually into ceviche but I really liked the flavor. The chicken skewers, tuna tataki, and empanadas were all good, too, but none of them were out of this world for me.

Had a great brunch here. My dad loved the salmon ceviche. Plates are meant to be shareable. They are kid friendly (which can be hard to find in west loop) and everyone was sweet to my curious nephew. Absolutely love the vibes and decor. Will def be back during warm weather to experience the roof top and pool area

We were considering Cabra for our wedding as I love Stephanie Izards food so we wanted to treat our family to dinner there. Of note I've been before for birthday parties and the service was great and everyone so pleasant. The west loop views were stunning and the vibe was overall great. We had a sampling of the menu: spicy sticky wings, goat empanadas, shrimp ceviche, tuna tataki, shrimp tacu tacu, seared halibut, and lomo saltado, picarones, and soft serve. Also loved the chilcano and mocktail. A tried and true favorite it's the goat empanada filled with well balanced flavors. The tuna tataki was refreshing. The lomo felt like it was missing rice. The picarones are sweet potato doughnuts and the perfect way to end the meal combined with the refreshing soft serve. Overall recommend checking out this rooftop spot at the Huxton.

Beautiful decor inside great for a brunch, although the menu is a little limit. There is more than enough street parking in the restrooms were clean. Our server was very knowledgeable and prompt.. I ordered the Green Saint Bramble and I had a second one it was so good. We ordered the goat empanadas, chicken thighs skewers, bass ceviche, silchipapas, and for dessert picarones and chocolate on chocolate with crunchy chocolate. The plates are served family style but it's so good. Everything was delicious. Their taro chips were so good. The reason I'm giving it four stars is because the menu is fairly small and they were out of certain ingredients for drinks.

If I could give Cabra 10 stars, I absolutely would! It was our first time dining here, and everything exceeded expectations. Our waitress was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and laid-back with great views, dim lighting, and spotless surroundings. We ordered four dishes -- Salmon Ceviche, Goat Empanadas, Shrimp Tacu Tacu, and Salchipapas -- and each one was outstanding. The Salchipapas were my favorite; the fries stayed crispy even after 20 minutes, and the chorizo was phenomenal -- spicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Honestly, they should serve it as its own dish! I also tried Peruvian beer for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and refreshing it was. From the food to the service and ambiance, Cabra delivers on every level. It's rare to find a place that nails both flavor and experience so perfectly. I can't wait to come back -- this spot is officially on my list of Chicago favorites!

Back so soon? Yes, yes I am. Came here for happy hour and I liked the deals! I got the pisco sour which was really good and on happy hour for a good price off. We ordered the empanadas- I decided the Swiss chard and kale is my favorite. We also ordered the hot chorizo and queso dip... 2 of them and I still found it sooo delicious.

The food and drinks are a bit pricey, on par with higher end restaurants in Chicago nowadays. In terms of food, our absolute favorite was the Pulpo Parrillero (grilled octopus) ~ so good! We also enjoyed the Yucas Trufadas (yucca fritters w/ truffle sauce). The Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado were good, but would probably try something else next time. For dessert, we had the Crema Volteada, which was delicious, though unfortunately I think it was a bit overbaked, as the texture was a bit dense like jello instead of creamy and melt-in-your-mouth like a flan. Service was great ~ at first we were seated at a small booth table by the open kitchen, and being a lefty, I felt cramped between the wall and the larger party next to me. We let our server know, and she was very gracious and moved us to a much more comfortable seat in the middle of the restaurant. As Peruvians, we were especially excited to try it. I started with the Yucas Trufadas paired with a pisco sour. The yucas were tasty, and the truffle huancaína added a unique twist, while the pisco sour was excellent. It tasted like a good pisco sour, and a great way to start. For the second course, I had the chaufa alongside the sohoul cocktail. I'm a big chaufa lover, and while this wasn't traditional in appearance, it was excellent. The maitake mushrooms added a slightly crunchy texture that I really enjoyed. The Sohoul, however, was my least favorite of the drinks. Lychee just isn't my jam. For dessert, I had the lúcuma ice cream paired with an espresso martini. The ice cream was a 10/10. Rich, flavorful, and not something you can find in stores. The espresso martini was a perfect match for me as a coffee lover. Definitely more coffee-forward than sweet, and a great pick-me-up to end the meal. Service was seamless, with our server bringing each new drink right as we finished the last. Between the cocktails and the thoughtfully portioned courses, we left feeling satisfied and not at all hungry. I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, just keep in mind it leans more toward a fine dining experience rather than traditional Peruvian street-style food.

I was hoping to find something similar here in Chicago, but since that doesn't really exist, I searched for authentic Peruvian cuisine instead, and that's how I found this spot. I came on a weeknight to treat myself to dinner. I'll be honest: the place looked a bit sketchy from the outside. I even walked past it at first because there were only two people inside, and the restaurant looked pretty empty and uninviting. But since I had already driven nearly 30 minutes, I decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did! I was greeted and seated right away and given time to look over the menu. The ceviche de pescado came out quickly, super fresh, and in a huge portion: honestly one of the largest ceviche dishes I've ever seen at a restaurant. I also ordered lomo saltado, one of the staples. It came with a generous serving of rice and beef. I do wish it had more fries, but that's an easy fix at home. The sauce was exactly what I expected: rich and flavorful. Service was good, especially for a small, family-owned restaurant.
