Place was packed and we opted for an outdoor table which was a nice place to sit and enjoy the end of a summer day. Food came out quickly and was good. What makes the sandwiches is the bread which takes it from ordinary to extraordinary. I ordered the Gulla and my only complaint is that the sandwich is dry with no spread like mayo and this is one of the few places where condiments like mayo are extra. We had Chris' Slow roast which is my husbands favorite (he comes here often ). I loved my sandwich - the negotiator. Kids had amazing chicken tenders with delicious house made sauces. Another winner! Just stopped in for a late afternoon lunch and found the service to be warm and quick, the food to be excellent, and the location to be... well, who cares if the rest is amazing, frankly. I say that because this is my first time in Rome, NY, so I just don't really know where I am. So the deets - predominantly a sandwich bar, but taken the next level. The ciabatta is sublime, and I had it with shaved prime rib and horseradish, pickled red onion, and wow. Flipping great. House made chips and a nice crisp pickle. Well done, y'all, well done. Great surprise to find this place in Rome! We stopped on our way through for lunch. Sandwiches all served on beautiful crusty bread, every part was delicious and fresh. I asked for The Crust Board with something other than meat and the chef hand delivered a perfect mixture of alternatives - cheese, nuts, fruit... and the crusty bread with olive oil and the tomato oil ... basically my perfect meal. Really fresh, crispy ingredients - Arcadian blend lettuce, blueberries sweet and juicy, glazed walnuts, cotija cheese, mandarin orange homemade lemon basil dressing (maybe with poppy seeds). Really a great salad. Came with one slice of awesome bread - if they gave me 20 slices I'd eat 20 - so I am glad I only got one slice (trying to lose weight)/ I'd get this salad everyday if I can. My wife had house roasted prime rib, with extra virgin olive oil, coarse salt, fresh cracked pepper, on toasted ciabatta. Very delicious. She asked for horseradish which doesn't normally come with the CHRIS' SLOW ROAST sandwich. With the added horseradish it was really good. Service was excellent. Waitress was very pleasurable , professional and friendly to the perfect level. We started with the board appetizer which is a great treat with baguette, meat, cheese, etc. We each had a sandwich which came with homemade chips and a pickle. Everything was delicious. Prices are pretty standard for nowadays but we felt we got our money's worth. The bartender doubles as the waitress but it's a small dining area so it's ok. At first by the name we assumed it was a pizza spot, it actually turned out it was a sandwich place. Me and my family walked in and the worker looked at us and said nothing until I spoke to her. The way she responded was extremely dry like we had disturbed her from something. We stood and looked at the menu to see if maybe we might find something we'd like but the energy was so off putting that we left. I've been to crust about like 4 times now. I would say the best value sandwich would be the "go home your drunk," it's real tasty with the chicken cutlet. I do agree the sandwiches are on the pricier side but I feel like it comes from them making a lot of their own ingredients. The negotiator is also yummy too if you like spice in your sandwich. However, I want to give a personal shout out to the chicken tenders with the falafel sauce! The chicken tenders are just so crispy and delicious and the sauce that comes with the falafels are just so good that it's a perfect combo. The falafels are nice in my opinion, they're rather soft but they do have a crunchy layer, I prefer my falafels that way anyways, some don't and that's alright. Had trouble finding a place open for lunch and literally stumbled on this place so we weren't sure what to expect. First impression--meticulously clean and neat. Small bar area with tables around it. Second section was take out. There was a small outdoor seating area, too. Fairly small but varied menu. Saw orders coming out and everything looked great. We both had sandwiches which were excellent--great breads, real meats and fresh toppings. Service was excellent and my husband's cup of decaf was kept topped off and hot.
