Chicken Sandwich
Hayley R.

We were greeted immediately by one of the nicest bartenders ever and got menus right after sitting down. She was working the whole bar and table area and killed it! Once the food came out we were pleased with the presentation, and even more satisfied with the taste. The risotto balls were perfectly cooked and warm inside, and the chicken sandwich had so many flavors going on that were perfect. The real star of the show were the fries/chips. They were so soft inside but held their shape on the outside, low key obsessed with them. Will definitely be back, the restaurant had great vibes and super clean bathrooms, everything was great!

Pretty good food and a great vibe. The greens were just okay, not the best I've had but the service was incredible. They have music occasionally as well.

Calamari, greens, boneless wings

When I called to order I was told 30-35mins, when I got there I waited another 15mins for my food. I'd like to add the place was empty so being busy was no excuse. While there I was told they didn't have another item I had ordered. Calamari was so blah. Greens were full of butter and only had the stems. Boneless wings were ok. You can see all the food that was left after we finished.

The rumors about the steak sandwich are absolutely true - excellent. Cooked perfectly, tender, served on toasted garlic bread and smothered in cheese this was one of the best I've ever had. I added the cherry peppers for just the right amount of heat. Comes with house fries which are bite sized and also cooked perfectly. Other dishes were a burger (just slightly over cooked) which also came with fries and was very good. Classic riggies which, while not the best in town, were very good. And another steak sandwich. All portion sizes were very good for the prices. Appetizer was mozzarella sticks made with some of the softest mozzarella I've ever had. Service was good. Our server checked on us at appropriate intervals. Average speed of service with total time of under 90 minutes. Server did forget to put our appetizer order in but corrected the mistake as soon as we pointed it out and she comped the dish. Very pleasant. Pub type atmosphere. Clean. Overall very good and we will return.

Absolutely Delicious Steak Sandwich with Greens on it.

So once again decided to go to Old School for lunch and once again it was absolutely Delicious I had the Steak Sandwich with Greens on it and the person with me had the Steak Sandwich with Mushrooms both made perfectly, the Steak tender as can be the Greens full of flavor the bread so fresh and the potatoes on the side fried perfectly crispy. I highly recommend going there and trying the food I've also had the Chicken Riggies and Fried Calamari both also Delicious.

Stopped in at Old School Bar And Grill today. This past week I have bought at least three burgers from this place and everytime they have come out quickly and cooked perfectly. I like my burgers screaming and bloody and it makes me so happy to see they know how how to cook a good burger in addition their risotto balls are to DIE FOR their Mac and cheese are so crispy and delicious and come out hot every time if you're ever looking for a fun bar atmosphere with great service (their waitresses are nothing but experienced so friendly) and even better food OLD SCHOOL BAR AND GRILL IS THE PLACE. I'm sorry. I was hangry. It's a nice place. The burger did take a while, so I guess I'll find out next time.

Food is great. Little pricey compared to other places which is why I gave 4 stars. Other than that food has been good.

Actually a mixed review. Food was good but prices have increased. Potions are large but everything was already on edge price wise for me.

I personally prefer the Korean/southwest flavors but I'm sure the others are decent as well. The whole establishment gives the impression of being "healthy" too which is nice. I haven't checked any nutritional information, and I doubt the amount of sauce i use is the recommended healthy level, so I don't want to oversell it. Still, it's nice to get food that feels healthy, whatever definition of healthy you want to use. I also have gotten catering from here which I would also recommend. Lots of food and very easy to do. Completely orderable online and plenty of sauce. One odd thing I find is typically their bowls are served with so many fresh ingredients the food is semi cold. It's intentional, I like it personally, but heads up. If you need piping hot food I'm sure their soup/stew is good. Maybe a bit pricey and not really amazing/remarkable but definitely quality.

Also the bowls that they put this stuff in do not hold up, they all leak and seep through. I understand you are trying to be environmentally friendly but there's gotta be another way.

Food is quite good, but I think they are still working out a lot of kinks in managing the dining room. We arrived early but waited to go in until reservation time. Parking was not available so another patron had parked on the grass and we parked next to them. Once winter arrives, I think ppl will end up have to park down Seneca Turnpike and walk back. The paved area isn't sufficient for a full dining room. It is a very modest bar, and a small dining room. There were ppl in front of us who were walk-ins. They mentioned one staff member told them it would be 20 minutes and another said two hours for walk-in. We figured it wouldn't be long for our 2 person reservation. Hmmm. I don't think anyone in particular is greeting patrons or managing reservations. The wait staff seemed to be pitching in as they could. The walk-ins (in front of us in line) were seated at a 2 person booth 20 minutes after our reservation. We objected as the other part of my party had been seated on a Saturday evening, very close to reservation time. The staff member said the walk-ins were waiting longer than those with reservations. As they should. We were seated after an hour past reservation time. Larger parties were seated on time after us, they had reservations 30 min after ours. Those tables had previously been pushed together for a party earlier, and staff didn't separate them for smaller parties that had earlier reservations. We were seated at a small table in front of the kitchen door. Food was quite good. We ordered wine as we arrived to the table as well as the meatball appetizer. Eventually someone stopped with menus. We ordered when someone else stopped at the table. About 50 min later, the entrees arrived. We did get our water glasses refilled. I had ordered haddock and it was fresh and very good. My friend ordered a fresh pasta dish, which was good, although not exactly as they ordered it. During our last hour there, (the owner) Christian Maya's father stopped to speak to us and he had checked in with us a couple times after the entrees were delivered. We really appreciated that attentiveness. So I took a star off for the reservation issues. I took a star off for gaps in service. I'm sure they will be able to improve on these things. For now, I recommend that you wait to go there unless you don't mind a considerable wait for a reservation.

Our dog was treated like a princess with a water bowl, treats and lots of love. Our meal was amazing, it was difficult to decide what to order. Everything is enticing. During my summer visits through Old Forge I would pass this funky little restaurant called Toka…read moreBocca. Each pass I would be going on their webpage to checkout their eclectic menu. Their menu is a fun read with unique food options names such as "Everyday I'm Trufflin'", "Bong Bong Shrimp" and "Dazed and Confused Sliders" As you can see these names and the vibe of the restaurant has a THC/cannabis theme. Please don't take this place as a dispensary or stoner hangout. Other than the punny names and chill aesthetic there is NO CBC,THC or cannabis in the actual menu items. My wife and I finally made the stop and we were so happy we did! As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by one of the waitstaff who asked if we would like to sit inside or in their side patio. We chose an inside booth. They also had high top tables and chairs along with normal sized tables throughout the smallish sized restaurant which offered a bit more warmth and intimacy than a bigger restaurant with more table selection. The menu is pretty extensive. Entrées ranger from Tacos, burritos, flatbreads, sliders, pasta, rice bowls along with chicken and tuna dishes. Though much is on the menu, I can assure you that everything is freshly prepared and cooked in house while the taste and presentation was spot on. My wife and I decided to order something completely different than what we do after an exhausting but rewarding Adirondack hike. We decided on tacos! I am a HUGE pork belly fan so I opted for the Notorious P.I.G Taco. The pork belly had some crispness along with its flavorful, tender meat. The cucumber and pineapple added a delicious lightness to each bite. Their Tokabocca sauce did not overpower the taco but was more of a compliment. The highlight was definitely the pork belly! My wife enjoyed her chicken tacos as well. I had a couple bites and the chicken was marinated well and cooked perfect. Their Mexican crème was such a delightful topping along with the fresh pico de gallo. The chicken and toppings were between both between hard taco shell and an outer soft shell. This actually made the taco a bit more easier to eat without it falling apart everywhere! I also recommend ordering one of their appetizers. We ordered the Cat Cow. It was fantastic! Fried cauliflower and Brussel sprouts tossed in their Tokabocca sauce, cotija and green onions. Toka Bocca has now become my number one restaurant in the Old Forge region of the Adirondacks. Their menu is mouthwatering and service was attentive. Toka Bocca is actually a newer restaurant to its sister Toka Bocca in Herkimer, NY. Though I haven't visited the Herkimer location the menus are similar with a slight difference in some extra options in Herkimer. We will definitely be back next spring and throughout the summer when are ADK trips take us to or through Old Forge.
