I'm not usually a fan of tom kha because of the coconut flavor but this was really good. It was the perfect amount of savory spicy and coconut so nothing was overpowering. I would only say the fresh roll wasn't that good. The chicken was very dry inside and the leafy greens made for a weird combination. It just tasted dry, crumbly, and kind of fresh tasting. I love the fact that this place is cafeteria style so you can pick up any sauces you want as well as drinks. And because of that you also don't have to tip! This means the soup is sitting/refrigerated and being reused and added to. Needs to be smooth and emulsified. This could be an issue for health department maybe. Came here after seeing the episode on triple D. We decided to try it out on our last trip to Dallas. The ambience was really nice. The restaurant had plenty of seating. Service was excellent. We tried the red curry, which was good but could have used more vegetables or protein. However, red curry did have a lot of spice to it. The pad Thai was delicious. I paid $13 for my pad see ew with pork, and it was a large portion that I barely finished. Even though we came at 8:30pm on Friday, there were only a couple people inside the restaurant, which I thought was strange because it has a lot of Google reviews, and we had heard about it on social media. I think there was something about the texture of the pad see ew that was off. The visual aesthetic was off-putting. I was expecting the pork pieces to be somewhat chewy, but they were really mushy. Everything was so mushy, but the taste itself was good. I love when broccoli is thoroughly cooked, which was the case here. The dish just had a very unappetizing look to it. Took advantage of the cooler TX weather and adventured out to Dallas for some thai food! My husband ordered the drunken noodles. He enjoyed the dish and enjoyed the subtle heat. Overall it seemed like the dish had more vegetables than needed but was good! I had the Panang curry for my dish! I feel like the curry was a little bit too thick for a typical thai curry. The rice also seemed to become mushy since they pour the curry on top. The flavor was good but missed more of the peanut that i'm used too with the panang curries i've had in the past! The restaurant is very nice! Super clean and a very nice area with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! Crushcraft is such a cute restaurant! Even though it's been a while since I last visited, they are still memorable for me whenever I think of Thai & Dallas! My favorite dish to order from here has to be their pad see ew and papaya salad. Very yummy and always tastes fresh + flavorful. Yummy!! They have a very streamlined menu which I appreciate, there's probably 10 main dishes to choose from plus appetizers. The khao soi was so flavorful l, just the right amount of spice. Absolutely loved every bite, I was sad I got full and couldn't finish it. There's also a little sauce station that has sambal olek, fish sauce, chili oil, and hoisin sauce. It's cute! Take note that there is an insane amount of construction going on right now and the original entrance off of Howell isn't open, you can't even see the restaurant from the road. You have to park on the back side of the building and walk in through the patio. Only thing I didn't love is there were no napkins to be had anywhere with the plastic ware or drink station, and not on tables. I usually don't write reviews, but after last night's experience, I felt it was necessary. I've been coming to this restaurant for a long time--about once a week or every other week--and I always order the same thing: fried rice with no egg (since it normally comes with egg two ways). Last night, I placed my usual order, but I noticed a new employee taking it. She seemed uninterested and impatient, but I didn't think much of it. When I got home and took my first bite, I immediately realized the dish had egg in it. I have a serious egg allergy, so this was not a minor mistake. I called the restaurant right away. The same employee answered, told me they could remake it, and then abruptly hung up. I went back immediately, but when I arrived, she asked what I needed as if we hadn't just spoken. When I explained, she smugly said, "Oh, you didn't bring it back?" I told her I wasn't told to, and she replied, "Well, sorry, nothing we can do." At that point, the employee turned her back, completely ignoring me. They reluctantly remade it and eventually, the owner (I assume) came out and claimed she made the dish and that it had no egg, which was extremely frustrating because I had already eaten egg from it. I drove home, brought the dish back to prove it, and only then did they apologize--barely. There was no offer to make it right--no refund, no genuine concern for my allergy, or even acknowledgment of how serious the situation was. I've always loved the food here, but after being treated this way and realizing how little they care about customer safety and respect, I sadly won't be returning. read more

I came here a few times in high school and introduced it to my parents, and we all loved Crushcraft. I recently came again and I was surprised to find out they had moved, and the new location is so beautiful! The food is also SO good. Pricing is awesome because I think it's less than $10 for a huge bowl of pad see ew that's incredibly seasoned. My friend and I also shared the papaya salad, and it was super yummy too. I highly recommend adding a fried egg and asking for it to be less spicy if you can't handle spice. I love this place, and it brings such nostalgic memories for me. We were passing through Dallas and I looked up Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives restaurants in the area and this was one of them. It's a very nice place, clean, with a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. I really love Thai food and this place didn't disappoint. My wife ordered the drunken noodle with chicken. I ordered the green chicken curry. We also shared an order of beef and pork meatballs and the green papaya salad. The best thing was the drunken noodles, great flavor. The meatballs were also a hit. The green curry dish was kind of mushy, flat in depth, basically one note, and very spicy. There should have been more flavor, not just heat. Their green papaya salad was ok, not bad, just needed something, maybe more dressing, kind of bland. All in all it's a good place. A couple of hits and a couple of so-so's. Top 2 Thai places ill recommend in the uptown area. The entrees are based around $9 and around $12 if you add a protein (chicken, tofu, pork) or other toppings such as an egg. Super affordable for the amount of food and quality. I got the drunken noodles at a medium spice level with pork and my friend got pad Thai with chicken. Both solid and HUGE portions. I will say for the drunken noodles- mine were all chopped up. Not sure if they just overcooked mine or it's this place's style, but it was still good regardless. Both super favorable and hot. They have a sauce bar with chili oil, fish sauce, chili flakes, seasoning sauce, etc. for you to add and tinker with your food. I really like this aspect. The cashier lady was super friendly and attentive. Since it's a order and sit down place- there was ample different styles of seating (benches, booths, tables) with lots of lights. I don't get the hype for this place at all. It was not what I expected in terms of ambience, service, or food. You order at the counter and they call your name and you pick it up. I expected a regular sit down restaurant with a wait staff. That's not the most serious problem, I can live with pick up at the counter. The menu says draft beers are available but they are not. The food is the problem, it was not good. My Pad Thai, which is normally pretty safe, was by far the worst I ever had in my life. No flavor, a couple of pieces of chicken, way too many bean sprouts. It was not enjoyable to eat. It is not an exaggeration to say that I struggled through because I did not want to waste the food or the money. The wife's Panang curry was not enjoyable. In fact, she disliked it a lot. There was just rice and chicken, no veggies, no anything else to make it interesting. The kid's chicken and rice was not enjoyable. On the way out she said "this is a bad restaurant" (a direct quote). Maybe we came on an off day, maybe a different cook, who knows. We stopped here so my friend can have a brief meeting with a client so I grabbed a snack or two. This place is all hidden by a whole bunch of construction which is a shame. My friend has been there before a couple of times and still had a slight difficulty finding it but all she did was drove around the sectioned off areas of the block in a bigger circle if that makes sense. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the vibes the minute I laid eyes on the restaurant from the outside. It reminds me of restaurants in Thailand where the exterior is as important as the interior with lots of personality. I can't tell you what the style is called because I'm not that knowledgeable but I can tell you that the feel is hip and fun from empty rice sacks as hanging canvases to Thai number plates, all very nostaligc for me. The fast food style of ordering and collecting from the counter when your order is complete was unexpected but befitting the overall style of the establishment. Staff behind the counter consists of Thais as well as Americans. I believe I spotted the Thai owner sitting in the corner. I, of course, had no desire to announce to anyone that I am half Thai ... hahaha ... so I just went about my business quietly. Unfortunately I didn't get to order very much because we were heading elsewhere for a big lunch after the meeting but I just had to do a bit of food tasting. Service was friendly and efficient, I didn't have to wait long after ordering. I can tell the meatballs were housemade and not the store-bought kind. For $10 or so you get a full on noodle entree. The pad thai is a bit too sweet/ketchup-y, and the khao soi is more of a sauce than a curry soup. But is it still good and will I still eat it every time I just want yummy noodles? Yes. You order at the counter and there's a spacious seating area.
